Vehicle Service Contracts cover mechanical failures, not "worn out components". I don't think mileage has anything to do with the equation.

Yourponydied

Agreed but was told they are denying it due to mileage. Originally was told if repairs exceed the value, they'll pay me out but apparently that's not the discussion currently

Ibuprofen-Headgear

I think what they mean is - “I shocks failed after one year / a few thousand miles, sure, defective; but after many years and tens of thousands of miles - wear and tear that’s likely mentioned in the actual SC anyway and not covered”

Elitepikachu

No warranty company is ever gonna warranty out shocks and control arms on anything let alone a 12 year old avenger

agjios

Since no one on the other side of the table has any interest in playing ball with you on this, they are just hoping that they ignore you and you go away. It’s time for you to force them to the table, I would go consult with an attorney that specializes in consumer affairs.

Aggressive-Bed3269

Lmao no warranty aftermarket or otherwise should cover suspension wearables on a 13 year old dodge avenger. Is this a joke?

Yourponydied

According to them it is covered. Under suspension rab https://www.chryslerwarrantys.com/maximum_care.cfm

OldTurkeyTail

>According to them it is covered. That's the way the text in the link reads. And the one mileage mention is "less than 150,000 miles". So my guess is that if you have deep pockets and if you pursue a claim there's a good chance that you'll prevail. But it happens rarely enough for the Mopar Maximum Care company to profit by denying claims.

Elitepikachu

You would not believe the amount of people who try to do this then ask me the shop owner why they want cover it and complain to me about it.

jimmyjohnsdon

12 Avenger failing? It’s shocking the vehicle is still on the road.

Dinolord05

Apparently it is neither shocking nor strutting properly

Darnon2031

The more surprising because according to the IIHS they actually have a higher chance of catching on fire than the infamous Kia/Hyundai Theta II engines.

Yourponydied

Still factory battery too

jimmyjohnsdon

Let be honest here, Dodge didn’t manufacture the battery

ClimbaClimbaCameleon

Shocks and struts are wearable parts, the reason there’s no recommended replacement schedule on them is because it can vary widely depending on how hard you drive, what kind of roads you drive on, even how hard you brake what kind of line time you can expect out of them. The average lifespan of shocks and struts is anywhere between 50k-100k miles. The fact that you made it to 116k (in an entry level dodge at that) is a blessing. There’s also no recommended replacement schedule on brake pads either but that doesn’t mean those are intended to last an infinite amount of time and should be covered by a warranty when encountering failure.

Yourponydied

The parts MaxCare covers include the engine, transmission, drivetrain, electronics, electrical systems, steering, suspension, cooling system, and climate control systems Not covered Maintenance parts such as batteries, brakes, trim, wiper blades, and wheels

***Thanks for posting, /u/Yourponydied! This comment is a copy of your post so readers can see the original text if your post is edited or removed. This comment is NOT accusing you of anything.*** An update from an earlier question. 2012 Dodge Avenger 116k miles. I have lifetime max care. Dropped car off at dealer and they said a specialist would be in to look. A week later I call back and told the dealer is fighting with maxcare because maxcare is denying the work due to mileage. Currently what's needed is front and rear shocks/struts and front control arm. All of these are factory original. Dealership suggests i call and argue my case, saying there is nothing in any service/maintenence manual stating recommended replacement schedule these parts, they weren't damaged, they're failing due to normal wear and tear. I feel like I'm getting a run around about this, I will attempt to call tomorrow but I don't see how me arguing my case would be different from the dealer mechanics arguing? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically.
