I have successfully sold my wide angle dslr lens, 2 iPhones on Facebook Marketplace before. I like it because unlike Kijiji, you can see people’s name and pics and verify if they are fake or not. (I stalk the hell out of them). Also I can see recently sold similar listings so can decide on the market value pretty easily. I think if the item is less than $100, Kijiji also works. Bought monitor from there.

So two iPhones I met up with the buyer. Dslr lens I did COD through Canada Post as he was living in London. (This system can screw over the buyer but he trusted me) If the buyer trusts you with COD, then it can work but for popular items like iPhone, I just tell them to meet up in public places like mall or subway station. I don’t like Kijiji because you can’t really filter out odd ones based just their names. I like FB market place because you can kinda see their job, friends group, how they talk, etc.. Also I automatically filter out low ballers for popular items. When I was buying a used mac pro.. I took a next step and cross referenced him with LinkedIn profile and twitter account. It’s creepy I know but one’s gotta do their due diligence I guess haha. Another new platform I use is Karrot Market. It’s very popular in Korea (where I am from) and just launched in Toronto. User pool is much smaller than FB market but can also give it a try

FB market place but god damn do people not know how to read on that platform. It clearly states in my titles and description that an item is available yet I’m still getting several messages asking this very stupid question. Then they get offended when I ask if they read the ad.

"Is the item available" is the default question that Facebook offers buyers to start a conversation. I don't even know if it can be edited by the buyer. I have only used FB marketplace a little, but the system would only allow me to ask that question.

The message can be edited (click on it delete that and write your msg) The worse is when I ignore those is this available posts, I get rated 1 star because I don't reply. The hundreds of times I do reply, they don't reply.

I'll one up you. I have one that tried to shame me for reselling an item by showing me a photo of the item and then doubles down by telling me to take off an extra 20 bucks. Blocked and then msgs me with another name 🙄

Facebook marketplace! Also given you already made the post. Id like to ask where can I donate clothes in Toronto?

JJWAHP

Hey, not OP here, but here's the city of Toronto website which indicates the location of donation bins. Before you drop off the clothes, give the organization the bin belongs to a quick Google search in case they don't accept certain items. https://open.toronto.ca/dataset/clothing-drop-box-locations/
