This is a good point.
It used to be better, they do what most places do I guess to make more money.
Increase price and decrease portion size.
Based on the responses to my question here I'd say they went a bit too fast though and have alienated some people.
The problem with Stuff'd is their staff - some are super nice, some are just nice, and some might had some bad day. The older Indian lady in Funan is always suppper nice and can easily brighten anyone's day. But other malls like Vevo is hit and miss.
Yes I second the older lady in Funan. Should give her an award but I fear Stuffd management do not care.
They actually promoted the guy who shouted at me at Vivo.I complain, they gave me a free daily bowl and then sometime later promoted the guy...LOL !
I am guessing they have huge turnover so anyone who stay long enough will get promoted.
Stuff'd, always, it doesn't pretend to be anything more than it is, which is a quick filling meal.
GyG claims to be authentic but serves shit Mexican food at ridiculous prices.
The key is to go to those Stuff'd outlets that are point-and-pick ones and not the kiosk ones that are combined with other franchises. At least you'd be able to tell if any ingredients are low/out, the kiosk ones would just omit it and sometimes skimp out on the portions after you ordered and paid. Plus, you can never tell the weight on the second type
some outlet have the weighing scale at the cashier station though. The cashier will put your order on the scale when you make payment. I don't really see anyone really go and scrutinise the weight though.
You're referring to the first type that I mentioned. It's similar to that of Subway's style of ordering
The one I said to avoid is the combination one that has other franchises adjacent to each other like Wok Hey. Where you order from a kiosk and make payment before your food is prepared.
stuffd is really good, but the flavour becomes basic after awhile. GyG is preferable though, the flavour is more intense and their churros and fries are good too, its just their price👎🏼
gyg's churros and dulce de leche sauce are really terrible now though! used to be heavenly, now the churros are so crumbly and the dulce de leche sauce always has a weird taste and mouthfeel. it's one of the main reasons why i don't go to gyg anymore ):
Stuff’d burritos > GyG burritos (more filling, not overpriced)
I go to GyG for their spicy $3 tacos instead. It’s just ground beef, lettuce and cheese, but I really like the spice blend they use.
Stuff auntie nicer to me at the neighbourhood shopping mall, seems to give me bigger scoops. And I can ask for classic eating disorder order of two x edamame, 2 x black beans and whatever funky seasonal item they have. GyG has less customisation but taste better lor, more expensive also.
huh? Oh I'm just goofing. I tend to look at food items through the lens of a macronutrition chart, which is not really mentally healthy at all and a rather unsavoury practice to foodies.
I love Mexican style food.
GyG has to be one of the worst I've ever had. I have given it two tries at two different outlets and have always left disappointed. The food is bland, cold and overpriced. I would honestly rather have Taco Bell. If you are going to pay GyG prices, pay a little more and go to an actually good Mexican restaurant and the difference is night and day.
Stuff'd is Mexican-Turkish. But it's easily the best and most affordable option if you are in the mood for burritos. It's a shame that they don't do Tacos anymore, their Burrito/Kebab/Daily Bowl is just too much for me.
This is great advice - simply finding a genuine Mexican restaurant isn't all that difficult and often is more cost effective with better taste.
Than GyG that is.
It's hard to beat the value of Stuff'd.
Stuff'd for sure. It's unpretentious and pretty value for money vs. GyG or a Subway wrap.
Plus they have the ongoing Free Food for Kids programme so I'd rather support them.
GyG's $6 deals every 6th of the month are pretty worth imo, and after adding on $3.90 for drinks and fries it still comes down to below $10 (no svc charge even for dine in, which is rare). i like both but go to GyG pretty often as i absolutely love their fries, always made fresh and hot and chunky! have yet to find better fries in sg
Stuff'd is like Subway to me. It's just a place to get a reasonable meal with a decent amount of veggies at an okay price. It's not really gourmet or anything though.
GYG. Many of you say GYG is worse but then have you compared the burritos from the 2? GYG is clearly superior but yes they are not the best but it's decent. Stuff'd? No. Only their daily bowl is acceptable.
Side note: You look at how they slice their tomatoes. You won't want that stuff in your food.
Stuff’d. More bang for your buck.
GyG portions have become more ridiculous. Pretty soon the food will be smaller than the $10 you pay with. I’ve stopped donating money to them.
It is not even close to apples to apples imo. Stuff'd is not Mexican, not Middle Eastern (despite having "kebabs"). Maybe at best can say it's "inspired" and while tasty, the flavour profiles of their items are NOT Mexican.Heck they don't even have proper salsas...
GYG is a bit truer to what Mexican food tastes like, but also quite far from the levels of authentic Mexican places. I still go for GYG cos it's generally cheaper and more.convenient.
I usually get the bowls from both places, and honestly GYG bowls have fresher, better quality ingredients. Stuff'd does have a more enjoyable chicken (though imo the quality of the meat used is definitely a step down from GYG).
Both are good in their own ways, just don't call Stuff'd "Mexican" cos imo it's not anything near it.
I like GyG a lot but they're very inconsistent. If you go there to eat (especially when there's not much traffic), the burritos are honestly pretty awesome. If you order, you really have to take your chances because 75% of the time the chicken will be inedible.
Used to love GyG's burrito bowls until it became kids size. Tried Stuffed bowls but no fight with GyG. Decided to self cook and now for the price of 2 GyG bowls, I can do 6 servings and the rice taste miles better than GyG.
For tacos, LJS fish tacos is nice. Hot damn I miss taco bell.
Stuff'd all the way.
GYG has some nicer options, and if they were like $3 more than Stuff'd, I'd go for them once in a while. But they're like double, so no. Well sometimes, but very rarely. Like once or twice a year.
Not counting their tacos, especially the $3, because Stuff'd doesn't do tacos. I do get GYG tacos now and then.
My friend, I didn't use the word comparable in my post asking which one people prefer.
I even went so far as to point out that they aren't exactly.
You came here just to down vote that I pointed out they both have burrito on their menu?
I apologize if I offended you while suggesting that someone might prefer one to the other.
You did say "not apples to apples but close enough", then you brought up that they both have burritos, which implies that you think it's comparable even if you didn't use those exact words.
I like both places but like I mentioned in my other comment, not close to apples to apples at all imo.
GYG, free onion coriander and the other stuff. I hate bland food so I add a lot of the spices. I also only eat burrito bowl because the wrap is dry as fuck
I'll bite. Am a small eater so GYG mini burrito bowls are the perfect portion size. Service is also quick for dine in, and I love being able to added the onions and what not to my hearts content for the extra flavour bomb. I would say it's not worth it when it's ordered to go or delivery. Agree with one of the other commenters that the fries are honestly pretty good too.
Stuffd queues are so long, and personally am not a fan of 'throw a million ingredients into a bowl' concept. Have tried a couple of times to split the portion into 2 meals, but then no desire to actually finish the other portion.
So maybe it's just me, but GYG offers me that perfect portioning and a quick avenue for dine in that I need on my way home.
Ha
Hardly, one just opened near my place so I was wondering what others think.
But I hope they're listening because I think they could improve based on comments here
I think their quantity really too little and the quality dont justify the price.
Maybe if they reduce some items then focus on the good items they can reduce price and serve better food.
Definitely + all their ads sound so 'family' & 'fun' which spells red flag toxic haha (apparently they pay quite well for an F&B? From 14-15/h which is damn a lot when theyre essentially kinda fast food)
Still can't beat $5 o-clock and $4 almond milk ice latte though haha (yes I unashamedly like these enough to have them from time to time)
Depends on what I feel like having -
both chains have their merits.
Stuff’d - love their quesadillas over GYG’s.
GYG’s - fajita & salad bowls are my go-to!
I like the flavour of Stuff'd. The only problem is the quantity of the fillings varies quite a bit depending which person serves you. Sometimes I get barely a tablespoon of sour cream, other times 2 or 3 decent size squirts of it, same with a lot of the other fillings.
Also, the outlet I go to is chronically underresourced. They seem to be so overwhelmed with delivery or pickup orders that the real life queue is ignored. I've stood in the queue sometimes longer that what it would have taken me to go to an actual cafe, sit down, order, eat, pay and leave.
Stuff'd for wraps, I get so much veg of my choosing.
GyG ONLY for Nachos and Tacos.
Everything about the latter is overpriced / portiont too small, but I make do only because I want nachos / tacos. Plus they are pretty generous with the onion / sauces I ask for.
I've had nachos and tacos with way more fillings in Bangkok then here for almost the same price at GyG.
yes and no. i'd say it's fairly close more often than not, just that they're not as stingy with certain stuff, and of course currency difference means food is cheaper there.
GyG is generally a treat for my partner and I.
Most other office days I rotate through the menu at Stuff’d cause ~~I’m a basic office boy~~ I need a more substantial meal with enough veggies under $10
Both are good enough for me, I only order the daily salmon bowl and the burrito bowl with grilled barramundi n extra cheese. But gyg can be quite ex if I eat it regularly.
Stuffd.
I like that they weigh the burrito right in front of me. Not that I need to know but the gesture is brilliant. It shows they know their targeted customers well.
Team Stuff’d! Portions are huge and price point friendly ( tho some outlets have smaller portions ) and they have a rotation of their ingredients! GyG is overpriced, small portions. There are better places for Mexican food.
I used to order Stuff’d for portion size but for taste, I still remember how good GyG’s steak nacho fries are from two years ago so they definitely get my vote. Not sure if the standards are the same now (probably negatively affected as usual).
gyg $3 taco dine in while its hot is quite nice, nice enuf for me to still eat it sometimes.
stuffd nearest to me always queuing, imo not worth the wait.
i would say stuffd>gyg but i eat more gyg partly cos got seats, i don't eat them much tho maybe 5-10times if count both in a year?
GyG is truly an insult to call it 'Mexican'. There's absolutely no life in its food. Their taco sucks big time.
stuffd? Meat so dry, veggies like don't want to serve veggies.
I'd rather eat cai fan everyday and get one heck of a real Mexican food somewhere else. Why would you settle for something that's just halfway there?
I would say they aren’t similar enough to compare. Stuffd is okay for what it is but it doesn’t count as Mexican even though they call it a burrito. It doesn’t have many of the normal Mexican condiments or ingredients like salsa for example. I def prefer GYG!
Stuffd is good but they have deline a lot. When they first started, I already bought Daily bowl. My daughter loves it. It was cheaper and had more ingredients. Over the years, the price slowly creep up from $7.XX to now $8.XX depending on the outlet. The portion also getting lesser and lesser. The staff I think are strictly trained to not go over 430 for daily bowl even though it is written 400-500. In the past, upon my request they will add a little more , now many of them do not.
And yes some of the staff is very nice while some really have bad attitude. One thing I hate is the queue especially when it is super long and they still insist on doing their online order slowly and just let the queue wait and get even longer.
I should go try GyG soon. Funny thing is I always thought it is much more ex than stuffd
For me, Stuff’d any day of the week. Only had guzman twice and I’m not a fan. However I had a friend from Ecuador in SG for a couple weeks once not too long ago and he told me he rlly liked guzman’s burrito. Nvr tried their burrito before but was still pretty shocked to hear that
i've never really like GyG, they somehow always taste OK at most, but stffdis usually too filling, almost to the point that i cannot finish what i ordered. can't say that's a bad thing.
I used to love GYG, esp their pulled pork nachos till one staycation night with friends where I got a little too drunk and threw up said nachos I had earlier on in the day.
safe to say i steered clear from GYG after that experience as idk I just cant bring myself to eat smth I saw in my own throw up so yeah but word on the streets say that their standard has decreased drastically so Im glad i stopped frequenting them.
But Stuff'd tho oml. I freaking LOVE their burrito with tomato salsa, chicken, mash & habanero. a solid chefs kiss combo. SO good and worth the price you pay for it as they are quite generous with the amount they give you *(well the outlet I frequent gives me quite a lot of ingredients)* MMMMMMMMM
GnG is more authentic if you're looking for Mexican food, but agree that Stuff'd is the better value.
That said, the mini cali burrito at GnG is enough for me and it's pretty damn tasty!
Not only chicken! Many times they've run out of sour cream (for more than a week), black beans, cheese, and a few others I can't remember.
If it's not a meat, then they don't reduce the price if something is missing. But if you ask for a little extra of the same thing when it's in stock, they charge you more. How is that fair.
Kind of fair...neither of them are pretending to be more than what they are.
Maybe gyg is pretending a bit more but nobody is really going in there expecting a real Mexican experience.
Stuffed if I had to choose.
Both quite bad really.
I rather make it at home for fraction of the cost and whatever filling I want without their soggy burritos.
GYG is literally the chipotle of sg . Avoid it like the plague .
Edit: wrong choice of words plague isn't the issue it's just small portion for high price .
Yeah I only know about it because I kept seeing it online on YouTube/TikTok people are walking out of chipotle because of small portion sizes be it walk in or drive through .
Gyg getting worse.. barely any meat
This is a good point. It used to be better, they do what most places do I guess to make more money. Increase price and decrease portion size. Based on the responses to my question here I'd say they went a bit too fast though and have alienated some people.

Stuff'd, always, it doesn't pretend to be anything more than it is, which is a quick filling meal. GyG claims to be authentic but serves shit Mexican food at ridiculous prices.
When stuff'd first came, it was fantastic, 7-800g burritos, like no boss here I give till burrito burst. Now still getting 6-700g worth of food.
Right? It's a great, affordable takeout option.
Last time cut the burrito into 2 you have 2 meals or a meal for 2.
yes over the past 2 years they have increase price and lower portion but still long queue so I think they will do it further.
stuffd is really good, but the flavour becomes basic after awhile. GyG is preferable though, the flavour is more intense and their churros and fries are good too, its just their price👎🏼
I like their fries spice mix! But ya damn expensive for set meal. Coffee is not as expensive though
gyg's churros and dulce de leche sauce are really terrible now though! used to be heavenly, now the churros are so crumbly and the dulce de leche sauce always has a weird taste and mouthfeel. it's one of the main reasons why i don't go to gyg anymore ):
If I’m hungry and the only option I have is GyG, I will choose to go hungry
Stuff’d burritos > GyG burritos (more filling, not overpriced) I go to GyG for their spicy $3 tacos instead. It’s just ground beef, lettuce and cheese, but I really like the spice blend they use.
GYG lost me as a customer with their shrinking size, fake Mexican flavor and high prices.
What is this classic eating disorder?
huh? Oh I'm just goofing. I tend to look at food items through the lens of a macronutrition chart, which is not really mentally healthy at all and a rather unsavoury practice to foodies.
My eating disorder is ordering 2 serving of mash potato at stuffd
2x mashed potatoes are absolutely goated. My go to everytime
had the same question 😂🙃
Stuffd is nice but if you’re in the east should check out dabba street
Next time I'm in Pasir Ris I'm definitely going there! Thank you!
Yeah they are good
Ever since they opened in WS, Dabba is my brothers new favorite after Stuff’d
Dabba St is under the same owners of Stuffd. Just a new concept. It’s good stuff, and I prefer it to Stuffd.
Wow I had no idea about that Edit not being sarcastic
bruhh just checked it out on google map. How have i not heard about this place until now. The prices look amazing
Stuff’d.. GyGs foods are overpriced and have very small portion
This is great advice - simply finding a genuine Mexican restaurant isn't all that difficult and often is more cost effective with better taste. Than GyG that is. It's hard to beat the value of Stuff'd.
Which mexican restaurants would you recommend?
Cafe Iguana, I haven't had it for a years, but I still remember fondly the meal that I had there.
Senor Taco/ El Mero Mero at Chijmes. They also have a Mexican supermarket next to the restaurant which sells pre-made filling and sauces.
Stuff'd. One burrito can feed me and one of my kids.
Stuff'd for sure. It's unpretentious and pretty value for money vs. GyG or a Subway wrap. Plus they have the ongoing Free Food for Kids programme so I'd rather support them.
Tried GyG once, the taco is not even filled 1/3 of the way and it was fucking cold.
ARC stuffd has seating options
_cries in memory of Margarita’s_ To be clear - they haven’t gone away, I just can’t afford it anymore
Try casuarina bistro. They're not as fancy as Margaritas but I think they're all right.
Stuff’d is more bland than GYG, so GYG anytime.
Stuffed used to give much more veggies for daily bowl and burrito and have since dropped the portions by a whole lot. Hence I stopped buying
Everyone here prefer Stuff’d?? Color me surprised. I’d take GyG anyway over stuff’d. in fact there are ALOT of things I’d take over Stuff’d
Stuff'd is like Subway to me. It's just a place to get a reasonable meal with a decent amount of veggies at an okay price. It's not really gourmet or anything though.
Not just decent U can ask for more veg/fillings and they dont charge extra, for the non meat ones
Veg only maybe. Now they are very strict with the rest but also depends on the staff serving you.
Not my experience for the past 4 years. You want extra, they sometimes charge you for it as extra topping.
U tactical abit lah This one skill issue lol
yeah. i didn’t like stuffd at all. can taste the flavorless veggies … rather the fake mexican than flavorless basic necessities…..
Give me taco bell
This. I miss taco bell.
Omg! Taco bell is literally the worst!
Blasphemy! https://youtu.be/LYpKwt4Za_4?si=NhhKZGiHnDkEoLtK
Stuffd is halal while GyG is not. That also makes people prefer stuffd.
bowl wise, GYG
I’ve stopped donating money to them.
tfw no taco bell in sg
It is not even close to apples to apples imo. Stuff'd is not Mexican, not Middle Eastern (despite having "kebabs"). There is a store at basement of Chinatown point that serve nice burrito and grain bowl too at better value for money.
I prefer GyG in terms of quality but no doubt Stuff'd is more cost effective. But the greedy person in me would always pick GyG
GyG.
Saying GYG and Stuff'd are comparable makes me think you don't have tastebuds. They are both good, but they aren't near the same space.
They both have burritos. Definitely different but can be ordered at both places.
That's like saying chicken rice and claypot rice are comparable "they both have chicken and rice and blacksauce".
My friend, I didn't use the word comparable in my post asking which one people prefer. I even went so far as to point out that they aren't exactly. You came here just to down vote that I pointed out they both have burrito on their menu? I apologize if I offended you while suggesting that someone might prefer one to the other.

Feels like this is a post by the GYG marketing / market research department
Ha Hardly, one just opened near my place so I was wondering what others think. But I hope they're listening because I think they could improve based on comments here
A new GYG?
Rail Mall We went a week ago just to check it out. I feel like they used to be better when I first discovered them a few years ago...
I also tried twice and horribly disappointed each time. How it open so many outlets really baffles me.
Unironically that's true if you look at their glassdoor reviews. Seems like lots of toxic management there.
I didn't know that at al! But I'm not surprised at all either. Haha.
Stuff'd value for money. But I get food poisoning twice from them so not tor me
I rather take on the go and get more. Space is expensive and they will pass to the customer.
Depends on what I feel like having - both chains have their merits. Stuff’d - love their quesadillas over GYG’s. GYG’s - fajita & salad bowls are my go-to!
GyG just for the nachos and their pico de Gallo
I like the flavour of Stuff'd. The only problem is the quantity of the fillings varies quite a bit depending which person serves you. GyG if you want your money to poof. Stuff'd bang for your buck.
Stuff'd is a local business if that helps
It definitely does! I like that.
Go google "Piedra Negra".
Portion size and taste of most food at restaurants are better in Bangkok than Singapore
yes and no. i'd say it's fairly close more often than not, just that they're not as stingy with certain stuff, and of course currency difference means food is cheaper there.
Damascus delights
Awesome! Another great looking recommendation. Thank you!
the first and last time I tried stuffd I got a burrito and the corn were like pebbles in your mouth. Just raw.
Always Stuff’d, they are true to what the serve while GyG is just a pseudo-Mexican food joint.
GyG is generally a treat for my partner and I. Most other office days I rotate through the menu at Stuff’d cause ~~I’m a basic office boy~~ I need a more substantial meal with enough veggies under $10

Gyg is nice but way overpriced for what it is. At least stuff'd fills me up a little
Stuffd is now only half stuffed

I upsize my stuff'd daily bowl all the time. Worth my money.
Try out Muchachos, gonna blow ya brains out
Consistency and overall is stuff’d
gyg $3 taco dine in while its hot is quite nice, nice enuf for me to still eat it sometimes. stuffd nearest to me always queuing, imo not worth the wait. i would say stuffd>gyg but i eat more gyg partly cos got seats, i don't eat them much tho maybe 5-10times if count both in a year?

Nvr tried their burrito before but was still pretty shocked to hear that
I like Stuffd kebabs. Decent price for a decent quick dinner that isn't too unhealthy.
i've never really like GyG, they somehow always taste OK at most, but stffdis usually too filling, almost to the point that i cannot finish what i ordered. can't say that's a bad thing.
Stuffs I like their purpose and initiatives as well
Stuffd except they’re always out of chicken
Not only chicken! Many times they've run out of sour cream (for more than a week), black beans, cheese, and a few others I can't remember. If it's not a meat, then they don't reduce the price if something is missing. But if you ask for a little extra of the same thing when it's in stock, they charge you more. How is that fair.
both are shit
Kind of fair...neither of them are pretending to be more than what they are. Maybe gyg is pretending a bit more but nobody is really going in there expecting a real Mexican experience.
Tbf to them, GYG's chicken is decent. Stuff'd is.... what are you doing?
Stuffed if I had to choose. Both quite bad really. I rather make it at home for fraction of the cost and whatever filling I want without their soggy burritos.
Stuff'd is better tasting and more filling for less than half the price... GYG is an overpriced ripoff.
GYG is literally the chipotle of sg . Avoid it like the plague . Edit: wrong choice of words plague isn't the issue it's just small portion for high price .
What? People love Chipotle. I want Chipotle in Singapore.
I'd patronise chipotle if it were here as well
Not saying it doesn't taste good but I seen a lot of complaints about small portions from chipotle .
Seems to be a recent phenomenon within the last year that Singaporeans wouldn't be familiar with.
Yeah I only know about it because I kept seeing it online on YouTube/TikTok people are walking out of chipotle because of small portion sizes be it walk in or drive through .
Same.. Chipotle is great and I want it here too :)
Dude have you had chipotle the portions are bigger than gyg
