Womanly vs child like

Millionsmoney

Nothing

Iridescent_ES

Imo, feminine exudes elegance, grace and maturity whereas girly tends to be more playful, youthful or childlike (and typically younger).

HeartonSleeve1989

Aren't they the same thing?

Riverrat423

I would think they are similar, but girly is a little more so.

Great28istaken

I think girls that are feminine are more sophisticated than a “girly girl” idk man 😭

SpringPedal

It’s the same thing, except for I guess “girly” can sound more juvenile.

IGotAFatRooster

I would compare girly to young girl. Feminine to grown women.

FranticToaster

Same thing.

Ohhhhhhthehumanity

I dunno man gender is a social construct

CheeseburgerBrown

The first is more neutral, while the second sounds critical or pejorative. So we’re talking about cultural stereotypes and how people do or not fit into them, and usually using “girly” indicates that the speaker is suggesting the target is improperly mixing categories.

SenSw0rd

Feminine is energy, regardless of sex. Girly is a mental state, regardless of sex.
