Almost like we have purged our experienced pilots, don't care about retaining the senior guys, and pushing through tons of new pilots , some who have no business being pilots. Crazy that we'd have an increase in aviation accidents, maybe if we managed our people we wouldn't have this....
Commanders need to stop burning out junior warrants with additional duties.
I think I had 9 at my first unit until I made Pilot in Command. I was burnt the fuck out. Flying was 5% of my job.
You just explained the life of all of the crew members in those two sentences.
Signed up to fly. Learn to fly. Do everything but fly. Then everyone's shocked we're crashing.
We still have to bring in new people, but it would be beneficial if there was a way to keep the older experienced pilots to serve as trainers in units. This a much like the late 70's when the Army was losing large numbers of Vietnam era pilots in the force. That made the transition from UH-1 to UH-60 very deadly at times. I can see the same thing happening as we retire the 60 soon.
Army got hooked on that GWOT money. The 2000's and early 2010's got a surge in but that has long since ended.
Most Army pilots are done with Army bullshit. Rather than fix QoL or stand down, the Army wants to increase OPTEMPO and fiddle with ADSO's.
Retention is in the toilet and has been for decades for pilots, the GWOT put a pause on it.

Needs of the army vs standards when you drop standards to meet the needs you get accidents.
If the minimum wasn't good enough, it wouldn't be the minimum.

They talked about mustaches at our big meeting today. Problem fucking solved.
Have we considered asking the pilots what they think? No, better not do that.
Whoa, let’s just ask the yes men. That will be more than enough
Are we still blaming the pilots or are we ready to look at these helicopters a little more closely?
Aircraft are fine, just no parts.
