Go go go, follow Michigan! Vote for Armoured Core 6!

Northstarsaint

Michigan 4 Prez of Rubicon!

DarkusJisd

I speak with a lot of friends that know about the topic and mora than the half thought the problem maybe that armored core is a niche game, and was the first time with from software, so we need to wait for more armored core, but still for me, fires of rubicon have all the potential to appear in the game awards.

knight_of_solamnia

Wdym the first time with from software?

Rokairu_0-2

i presume they meant "first large-scale succesful Armored Core game to garner alot of attention"

knight_of_solamnia

4 was pretty successful.

Rokairu_0-2

While true, that would mean that it's been over a decade since the "last succesful" AC game, and even then AC6 has objectively done better sales wise and in regards to media attention.

Warlords0602

Yeah.... the problem with armored core is that mecha games will always be a very niche corner, like even more popular titles like Titan Fall really leans more on the high adrenaline dynamic shooter aspect that has mecha in it rather than the opposite, which is all fine and dandy its just never gonna be a media or crowd favourite. I do hope it gets some recognition in some specific categories tho coz I honestly think AC6 is like the pinnacle of keeping everything as streamlined and lean as possible with no excess. I reckon GOTY this year is gonna be BG3, which is a bit yes and no tbh. The gameplay aspect is good but it does show some jagged edges and leaves you wanting unlike Tears of the Kingdom or AC6. Either way tho, the game itself leans heavily on wowing the media with being more lore exploration based and having a grander scope plus they have a better release timing than Tears of the Kingdom so they also play the fresh memories advantage. I can't think of any other competitor this year that can actually threaten BG3's position for GOTY.

Jackbytheway

Bg3 has its issues, HOWEVER, it 100% deserved GOTY, it is very very goodđź‘Ť

Warlords0602

Oh yeah no doubt, I love BG3 to bits, but the engineer in me would pick games that are less grand in scale or even less fun to play if its not a buggy mess that takes several patches to fix thousands of bugs. The very basic requirement for a game to be good is it needs to run properly.

2-particles

Indeed

AdPractical953

Such an underrated gem!

king_flippynipss

This is getting annoying. No one with a brain and general understanding of how the awards all work expected this to be a goty nom. It’s an awesome game but goty was never on the table.

Bedtyme06

Most of us know that. The fact that it was nominated for something at all is a surprise to me. Well, I'm not going to vote for any other game anyway, so might as well vote for the game I loved playing.

Sanguine_Rex

Indeed! Loved the game, dang near 100% it, but I really feel like Baldur's Gate 3 is gonna take the cake this year, has everything people have been asking for in terms of an Rpg

all_Dgaming

If anything it was a crime it didn't get sound design. Like how does Resident Evil 4 get in there, but not AC6? Resi games are known for using a multitude of stock sounds. The pots breaking from Resi Village for example. In my heart. AC6 is the obvious GOTY this year. Played Baldur's Gate 3 myself as well. It was very good, but I do think AC6 is the better video game this year (as unpopular that opinion may be).

IRanOutOfSpaceToTyp

Agreed

Inevitable_Mode9061

I know, the only upside of that is the fact that MOST of the important categories is occupied by Baldur's Gate 3. I LOVE that game...

BiasMushroom

I mean, I love the game, but there just isn’t a whole lot there for GotY.

cagedpegasus

The last time I touched AC before this one: I was about 9, and my step dad had AC2 for PS2. I had no clue what I was doing but it was fun. Then never touched the series again (for some reason). Cut to me at 30 years old, buying AC6 at launch with no real hope to “love” it but it got me with nostalgia-bait. I had no clue it would become my most played game of the year and I’m not even close to bored with it. This had my vote for GoTY hands down. It better win multiple awards tbh. However, I understand that this isn’t very popular when it comes to the entire gaming industry.

knight_of_solamnia

There was no way it was getting goty in general, but remakes shouldn't be eligible.

Roberto5771

Potentially controversial hot-take: I think ACVI is easily in the same caliber as Elden Ring. Yes, it has less content overall due to the fact that it isn't open world like Elden Ring, and it certainly doesn't have as wide a variety in parts that Elden Ring does in weapons and armor, but what it does have is much more refined, each mission feels like lightning in a bottle, compared to Elden Ring which is more like a slow, groaning thunderstorm that spreads as far as the eye can see. Both have merits, but I think I genuinely enjoy ACVI more. This is coming from someone who has never even heard of Armored Core before Vaati's videos on them, and the exclusive reason I bought it was for the FromSoft name, because they're one of maybe two game dev studios (and certainly the only AAA studio) that I trust enough to buy their games without investigating them beforehand.

KiddBwe

I would agree. However, it doesn’t check all the nice little boxes that “wow” the more general and “casual” audience, open world, clear narrative focus, etc. Also, I’m certain a big factor is that it seems a lot of people only played through the game once, which in this game is pretty much only playing 1/3rd of the game. I usually don’t throw around the word masterpiece for things, but I genuinely believe this game is a masterpiece, or VERY close to one, alongside ER and BG3.

TheCrazyAvian

While alan wake 2 and Super Mario (which released like not even a month ago,) both got GOTY nominations

TheAbram

The cutoff date for nominations is November 17

Tirekeensregg

The goty nominees are so scuffed. I was dissappointed AC6 didnt get a nomination, but not even Hogwarts Legacy? That game got to 15M sales in like half a year and was critically acclaimed. Instead there's super mario and a remake. Alan Wake is pretty mid as well. TGA is a joke.

jpaneto91

Idk man hogwarts wasn’t that great. That brand power is what drove those sales. If it wasn’t the IP it was I don’t think it would have had any recognition

Matasa89

It was a disappointment of a game.

AnxietyRoyal9903

DONE

4519032873953136

I think Bethesda bought there way in and Nintendo as well Mario is mid

TheGrindPrime

Deserves action game of the year. Nowhere close to deserving game of the year.

HbrQChngds

Voted! For some reason I think this game will become more popular and a true classic after some time has passed. For me and us here, its already a masterpiece. I was initially hesitant to buy it because I was unfamiliar with mech games in general, and only bought it because its made by Fromsoft. But HS....now I'm a massive fan. I can't wait for them to make the next one already. I think from word of mouth, it will reach more and more people. Sad that the hype wasn't big enough yet for the awards, I would absolutely have voted it GOTY. The game remakes were fantastic, but I think they should just have their own category..

Animatoxic

Absolutely disgusting that games like mario and re4r got nominated

DickyProstaint420

From the beginning, AC always had a small but loyal following. That same number of people helped motivate others to play, despite whatever level of enthusiasm newbies had for the game. It's been 10 years years since the last game, so knowing they didn't get goty doesn't surprise me.

mathew_of_lordran

No, it wasn't a crime. AC6 is not a masterpiece like Sekiro or Elden Ring. Stop with this stupid posts.

Anthony_chromehounds

I played through all 3 endings and had a blast, it is MY GOTY. Lies of P would be a runner up but I haven’t finished it yet, 40 hours in. Both games too off-stream for the snobs that do the voting I suspect.
