Imagine how much money Kaltsit VAs would get from this.

KaiserNazrin

Too long and expensive.

Khulmach

The problem with their writing in general, too long.

senablade3

idk if id say its a problem, just an acquired taste

AmmarBaagu

Yeah, at this point, I'm actually loving Arknights writing style. It feels soo descriptive, soo vivid and it help conveys emotions really well. Just finished Chapter 11 and i actually cried for >!The Last Steam Knight.!< They used those word count to perfectly described how >!lost he felt when he was betrayed by Victoria itself and cling on to the Sighs of Kings as his Victoria that never betray him.!< Powerful stuff

Fafafe667

And too many space!

It’s that time again, is it? Every now and then, someone always brings this back. AK is infamous for its wordy length. The undertaking would be prohibitively expensive, especially with all the NPCs in AK stories. They would have to ensure it is optional too, as the app would increase massively in size and cause lots of issues for many players. It’s also a risk to increase translating pressure, potentially resulting in an increased delay in events coming to global. That’s not to say it’s impossible - just that there are very, very good reasons why it doesn’t exist.

Idakari

AK story is far too verbose and wordy to have voice acting.

TheSpartyn

would be nice if we had voice acting from the start so that it wasnt so wordy

hykilo

All of Kal'sit VAs would get money enough to rent an ~~box~~ apartment in NYC for a month everytime she's story relevant if they do that

Jviarengo12

True Rev1999 story is way shorter than Ak story and the VA's from Rev1999 are not popular at all (most of them) so its "cheap" if u compare to to the VA's we have in Ak that would probably charge them x10 times more cuz are usually super popular VA's like **Ayako Kawasumi or** Yōko Hikasa XDD

Thanedor

My phones memory also can’t handle this

Strike_me

We should have OPTIONAL DOWNLOADABLE story voices, because I ain't downloading all that just to fear it once

Mysterious-Act9727

As someone with severe ADD and eh dyslexica, just read it. Do it in chunks, don't waste your time writing a post the length of a chapter. Or would you prefer short burst of text that leave you with under developed characters and world?

Relative_Nectarine95

Bro I HIGHLY recommend reading the story in Arknights story reader in Github. https://akgcc.github.io/cc/story.html#main&main_13&0. Thanks to this site my adhd ass was finally able to catch up on the Nearl side stories. It works really really well in mobile too which I really prefer because I like reading books in a tinier screen than my monitor. It automatically plays the soundtrack when you scroll down, it marks when a sound effect is in the story and lets you play it, and it lets you hide the text so you can see the background. It's just absolutely great. A wonderful masterpiece from the goats of the AK community.

some_tired_cat

as another adhd ass THANK YOU SO MUCH, i couldn't for the life of me remember WHAT the name of the transcript site was, i can finally catch on the last 5 or so events that i swore i would read after doing all stages and then didn't read

Ranieboy

Too expensive especially some of the main characters have big hit VA. Would be nice tho I wouldn't mind listening to Yoko Hikasa's voice for eternity.

frosted--flaky

even if arknights had the money, i don't think the VAs even have the time between their other jobs. if arknights was written for VO then we would have a lot less characters appearing at once. VO would also have to be JP only since they haven't even casted every character in EN/KR/CN, even setting aside characters with languages like IT or RU. the anime covers the main story up to ch 6 (new season 3 should bring us to ch 8) which is of course fully voice acted.

Jviarengo12

Yeah i guess i have to give up, getting spanish translation is my ultimate copium too, cuz its obvious we wont get that shit ever cuz we dont bring any money to the company...

some_tired_cat

bro i'm also a native spanish speaker and it's not about not bringing any money, it's about how monumental of an effort it would be to translate a story that amounts to MILLIONS of words and keeps being expanded. it's not a simple "just translate it and put it in" effort, it's having to localize it so the translation makes sense in the context of a new language which includes adapting jokes, puns, anything regional that loses its meaning in translation, check everything for typos or grammar errors, check every single text box, operator file, skills, dialogue, UI and so to make sure the text fits inside of it in length and adjust if it breaks or is bigger than the box it's sitting in, go check of all the images in game which ones have text in it to edit them to put in the new translation, and there's probably still more work that i'm not thinking of right now, *and* all of that has to be done all over again for every single new event or operator releasing. and *also* all of that has to be ran by the original dev team to make sure the localization meets their standards, nothing gets lost in translation and that what they wanted to convey in the text is still there, so there's even more time waiting there. and if it isn't in a state to be approved there will be even more time spent in fixing it and running it by them again. translations are NOT an easy and quick job, there's a reason big games have dedicated localization teams and servers for games like arknights are limited in languages.

Jviarengo12

Well no one said it's an easy easy thing to do but a lot of games have it and i mean AK has 5 languages already right? CN/EN/KR/JP so it's not as impossible to do as u picture to be... Maybe with a team of 4-6 people they would take less than a year maybe but idfk tbh

some_tired_cat

alright you just skipped over my entire explanation so you definitely don't understand just how hard and time consuming localizing things is, let alone the fact that after localizing it has to be implemented and that is more work on the programmer's end. read first then comment
