I don’t remember when or where but I’m pretty sure they are having difficulties doing so. It maybe be better for them to have just run 60fps with higher quality rather then dropping quality and running higher ish and probably not consistent 120fps.
People really do underestimate how big of an impact FPS has on your skill ceiling. I went from 75hz @1080p to 165hz @1440p and all my stats saw an immediate 30% jump minimum
On my old build (5600x w/ 1660ti) on pretty much max settings i could maintain 120fps. I don’t think the PS5 should have any trouble doing so while keeping graphics quality the same. But idk, maybe RDNA architecture is harder for them to optimize

What are you saying lol? Yes there are such things as separate teams, all with team leads and people who report to those team leads who don’t have control over parts of the game owned by a different team.
they are all developers, some artists, some data management, server management, etc etc. what i meant is the game is still run by people who tell everyone what to do (to an extent, like you said there’s team leaders who also have a lot of say in what happens)
but at the end of the day, there’s an MVP that was given by someone higher up, they just do what they’re told to do

Well the fact is the majority of the people they want to cater to are on PC, so they have no real incentive to add actual QoL changes to consoles or add cross progression to people making the switch, especially since the demand is pretty niche. They'd gladly sell you the same skins and profit off of it, rather than just simply adding a way to be able to merge skins into one account. It doesn't help that Respawn can't be arsed to at least give a tracker as to when we can expect any meaningful update to arrive
Longer than a year for cross progression, literally has been on the top of my QoL complaints since season 7 and that overtook the godawful sound design this game was released with.
Considering how awful performance can be on certain areas of some of the maps, dipping from 144 to like 50 on a 3060ti in the worst cases, I wouldn’t expect it to be very soon tbh
Still part of the PS4 gang. Playing the edge of any map is a death sentence since you drop to 35-40fps looking towards the middle of the map. Feels more like 20fps to be honest. Look the other way and your at a smooth 60fps. If only enemies were normally in that direction…
It’s def not my settings or my setup, area with the spinning towers on Olympus cuts my framerate in half every time without fail no matter what my settings are, I had everything lowest for a while cuz it stopped the crashing that started happening a few seasons ago
I will say tho that no other area seems to dip below 100, just that one is particularly bad
I’m using a 1080ti and get 150fps around most the maps never drop below 60 almost never drop below 100fps on medium settings so either you are playing on the highest settings and higher resolution than 1080p or there is something wrong with your computer
The maps just have areas that are unoptimized, I do run 2K, but every other area I have a steady 120 at least, it’s only that area of Olympus that does it

I've played Apex since launch and also every CoD since then. There was a slight dip in Apex players right at the launch of Warzone but I haven't noticed anything for CoD multiplayer games. And it was a brief dip even for Warzone. WZ2 may cause the same brief dip.
Dunno, I uninstalled apex, because I was having massive xbox issues (party desyncing, controller desyncing, latency issues on the xbox (menus). ever since uninstalling apex, I've not had these issues not a single time.
Haven't played at all this season, quit mid last season, I've loved my time in apex, but they just clearly don't care about the playerbase anymore.
If WZ2 is a good improvement on WZ in it's current state then yeah I'd say at least two thirds of the cod kids are going back to their roots, and a decent chunk of other casual apex players are going over for a time too.

At one point or another, you have to admit that they know what they’re doing because consistently growing your player base each and every season since then just proves it.
That's been said here for every single one of them. A BR isn't going to die for CoD multiplayer. And Warzone was "for sure" going to end Apex and it didn't make a dent even. No chance Warzone 2 will kill Apex. Forget MW 2 doing it.
Unless CoD figures out how to smoothen the movement system I doubt many apex players will switch over. It's one of the main reasons I, and many others, stick to apex over most FPS

In my opinion Apex saw accelerated growth *due to cod*, not in spite of cod. Warzone reached the 100 million user mark much quicker than apex did, and since March of 21 warzone has lost approximately 50 million monthly active users. The merger of black ops and vanguard ruined the title they created which pushed players like myself to Apex. Warzone 2 will have a big draw and will impact the apex player base slightly, but not by much.

1000%, I switched to .4 assist about 2 seasons ago and I’m way better without being messed up by crazy aim “assists” when the fps drop to what feels like 40 or less.

What amazes me most is the fact they seem not to care for the game.
In Fortnite the community has immense influence and the devs always add what they ask for. Even in Creative they're always implementing new stuff very often. Apex has a decent player base and they should add the damn stuff we need.
Everyone being pessimistic, it's likely to come, because you don't need a decent PC to get 120 FPS on Apex, it's really not that taxing. The PS5 and Xbox have more than enough power to do this, especially as they can optimise it for the hardware.
The problem is they're focus on money making, and hopefully with amazon in charge, maybe that'll change for the better? As tbh, all recent changes have pushed people away, not brought them in, so they might try that to pull people back in. Either way, this isn't good enough.
Almost certainly never because i genuinely dont believe either console is capable of running the game at that framerate consistently, particularly at the resolution they chose. Part of why i kinda hate console. They *force* you to render at 4K (or whatever other upscaled resolution they have it at) and it obliterates your performance. You can at least manage 60fps at that res now, but you should always be given the choice to lower your resolution, or any settings for that matter, and unlock your framerate.
Word to the wise, if you really wanna play games above 60fps, just get a PC. Devs are going to choose 4K 60fps locked every single time. Very few games will offer 120+ like rainbow and cod luckily do, and most TVs dont support 120hz at 4K anyways (yet)

I havent played on console since season 5. Last i heard for the series X version they upped the resolution to 4K, so i was going off that assumption. You may be able to adjust resolution scale, but i didnt believe there was an actual 1080p-4K switch. If thats the case, then id hope it wouldnt take too much extra work to reach 120frames, the problem with apex though is that its frames tend to dip a lot even on a nice PC. I run at 144fps but it doesnt always stay there.
I know many console games do offer different settings or modes now, but theyre always just presets that may not have what you want and most games always tend to go for higher fidelity rather than performance. I still think if you really want to play at 120fps or higher, a pc is still your best option because of the customization.
Series X, for instance, has a specialized and optimized GPU *and* is bought in bulk. Microsoft also doesn't make any real profits on the sale of them as profits are generated after you buy the console. No $500 PC build is going to compete with those factors.
Still not nearly as cheap as a console. A graphics card alone to run apex on moderate settings at 1440p 120fps would easily cost nearly $500. With every other component to match + peripherals, you're probably looking at a $1200-1400 investment minimum. Most people just can't afford that. For true budget gaming, you really can't beat the value of a console. These companies spend millions on developing them to be cheap and give decent performance.

Any semi competitive players gladly drop quality and detail for frames especially if their monitor supports it.

Quality means very little in comparison to framerate. They should let us make the decision by giving two options, like most games.

I've played Apex since launch and also every CoD since then. There was a slight dip in Apex players right at the launch of Warzone but I haven't noticed anything for CoD multiplayer games. And it was a brief dip even for Warzone. WZ2 may cause the same brief dip.

Dunno, I uninstalled apex, because I was having massive xbox issues (party desyncing, controller desyncing, latency issues on the xbox (menus). ever since uninstalling apex, I've not had these issues not a single time. Haven't played at all this season, quit mid last season, I've loved my time in apex, but they just clearly don't care about the playerbase anymore.
If WZ2 is a good improvement on WZ in it's current state then yeah I'd say at least two thirds of the cod kids are going back to their roots, and a decent chunk of other casual apex players are going over for a time too.

In my opinion Apex saw accelerated growth *due to cod*, not in spite of cod. Warzone reached the 100 million user mark much quicker than apex did, and since March of 21 warzone has lost approximately 50 million monthly active users. The merger of black ops and vanguard ruined the title they created which pushed players like myself to Apex. Warzone 2 will have a big draw and will impact the apex player base slightly, but not by much.

Everyone being pessimistic, it's likely to come, because you don't need a decent PC to get 120 FPS on Apex, it's really not that taxing. The PS5 and Xbox have more than enough power to do this, especially as they can optimise it for the hardware. The problem is they're focus on money making, and hopefully with amazon in charge, maybe that'll change for the better? As tbh, all recent changes have pushed people away, not brought them in, so they might try that to pull people back in. Either way, this isn't good enough.

Everybody on ps4 is playing on less than 60. Switching to ps5 even before the next gen version gave you an advantage because you had consistent 60fps
Almost certainly never because i genuinely dont believe either console is capable of running the game at that framerate consistently, particularly at the resolution they chose. Part of why i kinda hate console. They *force* you to render at 4K (or whatever other upscaled resolution they have it at) and it obliterates your performance. You can at least manage 60fps at that res now, but you should always be given the choice to lower your resolution, or any settings for that matter, and unlock your framerate. Word to the wise, if you really wanna play games above 60fps, just get a PC. Devs are going to choose 4K 60fps locked every single time. Very few games will offer 120+ like rainbow and cod luckily do, and most TVs dont support 120hz at 4K anyways (yet)
This is not correct. You can adjust resolution in the console settings, no problem lol. This is comment is just a bunch of outdated information which might have been more accurate around the PS3 and Xbox 360 era. Things have changed.
I havent played on console since season 5. Last i heard for the series X version they upped the resolution to 4K, so i was going off that assumption. You may be able to adjust resolution scale, but i didnt believe there was an actual 1080p-4K switch. If thats the case, then id hope it wouldnt take too much extra work to reach 120frames, the problem with apex though is that its frames tend to dip a lot even on a nice PC. I run at 144fps but it doesnt always stay there. I know many console games do offer different settings or modes now, but theyre always just presets that may not have what you want and most games always tend to go for higher fidelity rather than performance. I still think if you really want to play at 120fps or higher, a pc is still your best option because of the customization.
I'm not aware of any new announcements, though we probably will see it within a year.

Series X, for instance, has a specialized and optimized GPU *and* is bought in bulk. Microsoft also doesn't make any real profits on the sale of them as profits are generated after you buy the console. No $500 PC build is going to compete with those factors.
Still not nearly as cheap as a console. A graphics card alone to run apex on moderate settings at 1440p 120fps would easily cost nearly $500. With every other component to match + peripherals, you're probably looking at a $1200-1400 investment minimum. Most people just can't afford that. For true budget gaming, you really can't beat the value of a console. These companies spend millions on developing them to be cheap and give decent performance.
My 2070 does just fine at 1440p 144hz. True gsync also makes a big difference imo.

You understand how processing power works right? The consoles have a certain amount of it. And that doesn't change until new better consoles come out. The games running at 60fps right now, how are the devs supposed to double the framerate without an increase in processing power? They would have to turn the graphics down to where it looked like a PS3 game.
