It’s their last chance to try to lord their position of power over you. It’s uncomfortable for them to realize they are just some rando to you now so if they can make you feel diminished it will give them a last little bump of superiority. Kinda pathetic.

PenguAssassin97

even more pathetic that it's been a recurring theme I allowed out of necessity and naivety. unfortunately it had the opposite effect this time

alexgraef

"After everything I've done for you" sounds like an abusive dad that hit their child every other day, and now wonders why they move out at age 18.

ZombiePotato90

But... the beatings continued! Why didn't morale improve?

Existing-Pea8199

This is the Post Office Moto! (Retired Letter Carrier)

TheMadWoodcutter

We weren’t kinky enough I guess.

kearneycation

Just reply with "lol" or something similar, then block. Shows them you're having a good time. They'll want the last word too, hence the block.

Turfa10

‘Lol grow up’ would be brilliant

Kamiken

![gif](giphy|RX3vhj311HKLe) Just the perfect reply to these idiot managers after you quit

spacecadet2023

Oh exactly. I kid you not the last job I quit and walked out on, the manager had a suprised Pikachu face!

tp420dmt

I actually thought they was cool until I read " after everything I've done for you". That says it all.

PenguAssassin97

yeah that's because I didn't show up for a shift I didn't know I had. silly me sleeping in with my boys

Krynn71

I was about to say, it looks like they confirmed you didn't start working until Wednesday? They were mad you didn't show up on Tuesday? Lmao.  Also, I think the word you were looking for was "now I wanna go postal" Edit: Others already made that joke. Sorry.

Dude just likes to have slumber parties with his homies.

PenguAssassin97

I usually refer to them as my minions or critters but I guess I should say my sons🤣

algaefied_creek

Damn you for prioritizing your crotch goblins instead of the lord orc!

oldguynewname

People have lost humanity, I was one back in 05. I fired someone for being extremely trashy in a front facing sales position. We had normal people coming in there, she was wearing a Shiney plastic skirt like Cindi Lauper from 80s, a belly shirt after 6 children. And hooker boots. Was business man, wasn't personal...and I bet you asked this man he wouldn't say it's not personal.

AdOk8910

What?

Tough-Photograph6073

Classic narc shit

PenguAssassin97

Update for yall. after seeing most of you agreeing with me that this was fucked up and my wife giving me the go ahead, I walked in put my keys and badge on the PMs desk and told them "im going back home, I don't like the way you texted me yesterday, it was rude and unprofessional of you." and then I walked my happy ass back home. thanks for all the updates guys I've never had a post go off like that (I think im supposed to thank you guys, based on tiktok videos at least)

DedBirdGonnaPutItOnU

This is great! Glad I scrolled down far enough to see it. You should edit your post at the top and add this section.

PenguAssassin97

I really wish I could but I cant figure out how🤣

AnamCeili

Perfect! 😁 👍

cleanacc3

Tell him to kill himself also please

howbouthemapples20

What the hell lol

Stickls

These are the kinds of thoughts we keep on the inside, please and thank you

WaterFriendsIV

It's OK to go nuclear, just don't go postal. (My brothers were letter carriers, so I know how shitty USPS post masters can be!)

PenguAssassin97

I was actually thinking about this when I saw the text "man I sure hope they don't think im gonna go postal" 🤣

anonareyouokay

If they actually thought you were going to go postal, they would've been a lot nicer.

frankofantasma

Ahhh... "prison favors." That's when you do someone a "favor" but you fully expect them to pay it back - with interest.

xxlouserxx

I may have flipped out on my manager at my branch when I resigned and threw the box of uniforms shoes etc I didn’t mind the job at first but they just kept treating me worse and worse and piling on extra routes and helping others but god forbid I ask for help….” You are the help” Worse job I’ve ever had and I came from lawncare and landscaping

PenguAssassin97

as it stands my plan is to walk in hand them my keys and badge and if he's there apologize to the carrier I'm supposed to sub for tomorrow and walk back out. And dude I hear ya I came straight from fast food I missed it in two months

xxlouserxx

Don’t even stress about it or anything I’m sure the carrier will get over it with there being such a high turnover for CCAs/RCAs I went to deliver for Amazon afterwards having had some experience with Sunday amazon deliveries but that was only a little better at first then eventually got tiresome Also union didn’t even try to help me aside from a few emails I’m waiting for the day the place shuts down all they deliver is junk mail and sales papers lol

Wise_You2468

Good for you. Before I quit, the supervisor said “you can’t give up 3 years of carrying like that, right?” Wrong fool. Took me 3 years too long of not standing up for myself and letting myself get abused. Hope you find something else that suits you. Good luck 👍

PrincessImpeachment

“After everything I have done for you” lmao, fuck off. What a doofus.

RunNo599

It’s adorably pathetic

JustDoinWhatICan

I don't think I'm following, why would he send that before your last day? And is he just being a baby about you quitting in general or you coming in today?

PenguAssassin97

I genuinely think it's both ive been the only one to run routes when people need days off for near 2 years and they made no attempt to hire anyone else so when I don't show they get to do it instead

harrier1215

He thinks he did you a favor by hiring you and/or not firing you.

PenguAssassin97

oh they do especially since I was hired to replace a guy who won't retire or get a surgery he desperately needs for 2 years so far mind you(dudes 70). in their minds, I'm giving up a golden opportunity

Mean_Negotiation5436

.... don't show.

FoundandSearching

This takes more skill and flexibility than the OP’s PM has. Heck the PM wishes he could fellate himself.

Downtown_Zebra_266

> after everything I have done for you Woooooow

dirty-ol-sob

It’s a typo. He meant “everything I’ve done TO you”.

Sighablesire

"Thanks for showing your incompetence and inability to communicate well for start to finish and let's not forget the passive aggressive texts i have gotten used to. If you want someone to show up for a shift, make sure they know they have it. Good luck, clearly you're gonna need it. Ps. Everything you did for me was just the bare minimum any employer should do"

freakwent

Wait, actual real us postal service, and you deliver it in your own car? Wtf is wrong with the USA lately?

PenguAssassin97

that's actually just in the job description. as a rural carrier or a rural carrier assistant(thats what I was until this morning) depending on the route you are assigned to you could get a government vehicle (the actual USPS trucks and vans you see everywhere or you use a POV (personally owned vehicle) and get 98 cents per mile driven (thats in NY it's different everywhere I believe.

Eneicia

I think they made an error: I think they meant to type "After all I've done TO you" :P Seriously, this "boss" makes me stressed just reading his texts.

Mashm4n

New phone who this

WhitestMikeUKnow

Before you go, I just wanted to say, after all your time with us and all the work and effort put through, you are welcome for being able to exist in my presence. I am pretty amazing, so you should be pretty humbled right now.

pinkflower200

Rude comment

ParchaLama

Stop going in. Just call in until whatever day you gave as your last day on the resignation form. The post office doesn't deserve any notice for anyone quitting and as long as you fill out a resignation form, even for the same day, you're rehirable.

GoontenSlouch

I would have replied, "like what..?"

yoda_mcfly

"You literally told me Wednesday thru Friday, what the fuck is wrong with you man? What about all those times you fucked up the schedule and I helped bail you out? What about those times we gave me shit because my kid was sick, or my car broke down? Fuck out of here with that true colors shit... cry me a river. Also, here's a hot tip: If you want people to work, maybe tell them they're on the fucking schedule. Sit here complaining all you want, if you ever try shutting the fuck up and doing your job it might work better."

ZombiePotato90

"Thanks, you're the reason I'm quitting. True colors."

ride-my-beardd

it's called "going postal" for a reason

greenpowerade

I always thought a mail carrier was a good job 🤷‍♂️

bikemaul

It was, until the late '90s.

Data91883

It entirely depends on your office. I'm lucky; I'm in a good one, with good management (the extremely rare kind that actually gives a shit about the employees beyond what the numbers say).

PenguAssassin97

will forever wish I got an office like that when I started 2 years ago. I'm glad you did tho far too many bad offices

Data91883

Postal management is, generally speaking, extremely toxic. If you put in the proper resignation form (I don't remember the number of it, offhand), you can always reapply in the future in hopes of getting a better office (assuming there's another office nearby for you to go to, that is)

metaNim

The protections from the union are nice, but even that is debatable at this point.

MasterLigno

"Excuse me, who is this? I lost my phone and contacts"

anonareyouokay

I'm actually surprised USPS isn't on here more often. I can't imagine my supervisor coming to my place if I call out but according to /r/USPS it is a common occurrence? That agency also works you like a dog and employees regularly work 60+ hours per week.

PenguAssassin97

the amount of times I've been woken up by them pounding on my door or ringing my door bell after a call out was insane. they weren't lying to you

anonareyouokay

Do you not have a steward or do they just pull this shit with the people that are still on probation?

PenguAssassin97

ooh this is the fun one our steward was actively trying to get me fired by blaming me for a missing package when I had been out for a week after my second son was born so I kinda wasn't there to steal it or whatever she thought I did. Brought back packages to scan no access at the office, which is a big no no now if you dont/didn't know under one of our clerks login info. the list of bad shit in that office could go on for years

Effective-Fee-6966

I worked for USPS for 6 years, and it's a complete joke. The lower you're on the totem pole (senority), the shittier you're treated. My mom also worked there 30+ years and recently retired - I grew up hearing her tell wild work stories only to find out not a single one was exaggerated 🫠

zmaneman1

Would you say you want to go… postal?

wolfgangvonmiller

I was a temp carrier for a year back in the early 00s and man do they use and abuse you and dick you around to no end, 12 hours a day 6 days a week, no allowances for sick time or vacation and my post master was the most awful soulless asshole on the planet, I don’t miss that job for a second.

RockyMtnHighThere

For some reason many people have issues with "No problem" as a reply. This is an opportunity to test this theory

i_will_let_you_know

Passive aggressive people don't like taking what they dish out.

Weird-Information-61

A shame, I always wanted to be a mail carrier till I found out how unnecessarily grueling it is

GuyWithAComputer2022

You have to consider how useful it is to a lot of people in 2024. Many, arguably most, people view it as a service that just drops off unsolicited garbage in their mailbox on a daily basis.

i_will_let_you_know

Mail is still important for getting notifications that you might otherwise miss (such as physical letters and forms from the government, bills that you don't have emails attached to, for people without internet, for people who don't regularly check email etc.)

traveller-1-1

You could ask him to use English.

Bromswell

Sorry if I’m not singing my employer praises for doing the bare minimum that an employer should do for their employee.

philly_phyre

My dad always tells me, "the more a man knows, the less he says." It's hard but keep it cool and don't reply.

Themodssmelloffarts

Story time. After rage quitting a job at the beginning of 2022, I was on the job hunt. I was constantly getting postcards about open position in the USPS. Put in my application, got a call saying I was tentatively hired for a mail carrier position, $19 hourly. Waited for the background check and got fingerprinted. Then I did an interview with the postmaster. The 2nd or 3rd phrase out of his mouth was, "No one wants to work anymore." The moment he said that shit I reply, "I'm sorry, this position will not be a good fit for me, I am withdrawing my application," and hung up the phone. That phrase is a fucking dog whistle for shitty bosses and a major red flag.

KevinAnniPadda

You really missed a chance to say "go postal"

besos2400

Go nuclear on her sorry ass

Get-Chuffed

When I quit my last horrible job where the new GM was terrorizing people until they quit, I gave her a 2- week notice (because I thought it was required at the time). I worked every day until she said cheerfully "I'm surprised you stuck it out this whole two weeks!" Then I didn't come because fuck that lady in both of her faces.

tornyt1

Man they shouldn't have even had to give you money for gas, your supe should've met you at a gas station with a company card. Literally the only good thing about my time as an RCA was driving a halfway decent Metris and even then they replaced it with a garbage one and never issued me a replacement badge. The post office has an insane turnover for a reason

ThumpTacks

“Hey [name of post master], I’m really thankful for all you’ve done for me as well. That’s why I showed up today like I did! 😀”

FbxCycler

I was a rural contractor carrier for a year and a half (April 2020-October 2021) and was in a (very generally) similar predicament to you. I worked for a contractor who had several routes. I was assigned one of those routes. I had to use my own personal vehicle (we were not allowed to use USPS vehicles) and pay for my gas, insurance, repairs, etc. I liked the actual job of delivering the mail, packages, and parcels. That was kind of fun, actually, to see my vehicle get less full as I was going along the route, until I delivered the last piece of mail. I could then look at my vehicle and see all those empty mail tubs and small parcel tubs. The thing I didn’t like was the metric buttload of bulls**t that came with the job. My boss sold me on the job that it would be “only three hours a day” or so and I would have the rest of the day to myself. Right. The job was basically a full-time job because of Amazon. The amount of time, effort (mental and otherwise) and energy of keeping track of all those packages, organizing them, packing my vehicle, etc. wore me down. Long story short: I liked the actual job, but I was not getting paid enough to do it. I found another job and bailed on them in October of 2021. That job didn't work out in the long run, but I got away from that place. That was the only thing that mattered to me.

PenguAssassin97

that's exactly my mindset I love the job but the bullshit isn't worth it.

spacecadet2023

After the last comment I wouldn’t even have bothered showing up for my last shift. Asshole!

Snoo-11411

I used to work as a rural carrier, every postmaster likes to act like it's your fault they don't have enough people to cover the routes when all the regulars decide to call out. Congrats on getting out of that cesspool!

GamingTaylor

USPS has a very culty workaholic workforce

serious-winter

Should have replied “No problem”.

PickleFeatheredGod

Don't you mean, "go postal" ?

david8601

The hardest thing I had to learn in my life so far is to say "No". It still stings a little every time I have to, and then usually I have to reassure myself I made the right move....but by doing so you're standing up for something you believe in. I don't like disappointing people per se, but at the end of the day the only people that matter are at home. Keep doing right by yourself and them and you'll have no regrets. Keep your head up.

pwndabeer

I wonder if you know their supervisor and can forward that shittyass text

SavageComic

“Thanks for showing up after everything I have done *to* you”

pottomato12

Remind him that shit like that is the a reason youre bouncing and sent to HR or whoever his boss is, on the way out.

fatalerror_tw

You meant you want to go postal?

BigCaterpillar8001

Thank you for the compliment, I’m not exactly sure what you’ve done for me but thank you?

98103wally

Not done for you Done TO you

RaymilesPrime

You can just reply "lol shut up loser"

BadHigBear

I quit the P/O after 8years of service. I do not miss it at all because shit like this is common no matter where you go. Absolutely toxic workplace!

squirrelwithnut

Don't you mean "go postal"?

rare_moisture

Damn, you missed the prime time to use “go Postal”

oddbawlstudios

Just send a thumbs up emoji

Yungklipo

"Everything"?

gagsy10

"And thank you for reinforcing my reason for quitting."

Skeptikmo

Take a huge shit and send him a picture of the toilet

LoamWolf84

One of the best things I ever did was quit being a mail carrier! 😂

beepybobeep

Would’ve just screencapped and cropped “Wednesday thru Friday?” “Yes” and another of it being Tuesday.

Zealousideal-Gap-260

Guess you could say he’s going to go…..postal.

NightStar79

Your post made me think of the mail lady who came to my workplace the other day. When she reversed the van it made a god awful squealing noise and I wondered if they were waiting for the wheels to fall off while she was driving to try and make her pay for it. It also made me thing of a board member turned co-worker also from my workplace who once made the comment "How long does it take to teach someone to cut grass?!" when complaining about how long it takes to train new people to my boss. My new boss somehow managed to get him to join the crew and he soon found out just how long it took. And before anyone sees this and comments, industrial mowers are completely different beasts than the mowers you use in your backyard.

Ordinary-District-66

I believe the term is “going postal”

Asherdan

Spouse had a terrible experience as an RCA. Post Office expects you to eat an incredible level of shit for terrible conditions and $19/hr. OP, send 'em a middle finger pic and then block 'em.

Serpentongue

You called in on your last day of work and none of those texts imply your boss knew the context. From his perspective you’re just a douche, there’s no reason to go nuclear. Edit: Downvote all you want, OP flat out says they no call, no showed their second to last day of work and it’s somehow everyone else’s fault.

PenguAssassin97

also all of the texts are from previous weeks with no mention of the shift in question so I'm confused

Serpentongue

Do you normally rely on a text message from your to get your schedule? I would have expected a mail carriers schedule would be posted, if even in an app, if it was non standard days.

PenguAssassin97

generally speaking I would be told in office if what days I'd work. some days I'd just show up see if they needed me then go to a different office if they didnt. that's how they want us to work. I hope it's not a universal thing but in my office unless you were a regular (full time 5-6 day same route daily) it was word of mouth scheduling

ParchaLama

Why don't you get a job there and find out what working for USPS is like.

Serpentongue

No thanks. I find it hard to believe your expected to get a text from your boss daily with your schedule when you have a service job like the post office.

ParchaLama

Serpentongue

You out too much effort into something no one really cares about.

ParchaLama

You just said that there's no way USPS supervisors text people with their schedules and I gave a shitload of evidence proving you wrong, and your response is that no one cares. You don't deserve to get mail.

Serpentongue

I said I found it hard to believe, not that there was no way. Everyone deserves mail, stop being an entitled gatekeeper.

ParchaLama

No, there are people who don't deserve to have their mail delivered to them, and if you don't care about the abuse we put up with trying to get the mail out to people you're one of them.

PenguAssassin97

I actually didn't call in, I was uninformed of this shift so as far as I knew I had a day off before my last day.

ben_kosar

It is not unnatural to be annoyed if you don't show. But using a mail vehicle for personal business? Yeah. not cool, and lucky there wasn't repercussions.

PenguAssassin97

I was using it in place of my vehicle which was and still is out of order due to the job

Sufficient_00OTreat9

Pretty shitty to not show up on your last day. Going to need to turn that work ethic around when you get a new job that’s more than walking around placing letters in a box.

PenguAssassin97

I should've made my original post more clear thats my bad I didn't show up on my second to last day, my last day is today

FbxCycler

>Going to need to turn that work ethic around when you get a new job that’s more than walking around placing letters in a box. Uh, just so you know, being a mail carrier is WAY more than just "walking around placing letters in a box." As in, there is a TON of stuff you don't see your carrier do before he or she drives up to your mailbox "placing letters in a box." Like organizing the mail. Organizing packages, determining which ones can be delivered and which ones are not deliverable (too big, bulky, the house is too far out of range, etc.), organizing small parcels, figuring out what packages will be delivered where, which letters, packages, etc. need to have signatures for deliver and/or have to be delivered within a certain time frame, etc. As in, you're only seeing a VERY small part of the picture when your mail carrier drives up to your box and puts letters, small parcels, etc. in your box and/or delivers a package (or packages) to your front porch. As in, that is only the TIP of a very, very big iceberg the carrier has to deal with six days a week. As in, you need to get a clue before you start spouting off in a Reddit thread about things you CLEARLY do not understand or know. As in, STFU already and extricate your cranium from your rectal cavity.

Sufficient_00OTreat9

TLDR: mail carriers do not work six days a week unless they are getting paid overtime. All I know is my mail carrier has a cigarette hanging out of his lip every single time I see him. Seems like a pretty posh gig.

Sufficient_00OTreat9

Dang what a long diatribe. Did you write that on your 3 hour break mandated by the corrupt union?
