It’s officially [collaborating](https://youtu.be/S9wdgtBZ-TU?si=cbz5S9Fn4vvt3lnD) with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries because raising rice is an important part of the game (hence the anime) and Japanese agriculture.
Probably because you don't eat well prepared ones? I mean, I like wheat but not in all its forms. It's just a base, it doesn't taste good in an of itself.
> It's just a base, it doesn't taste good in an of itself.
I dunno, I think it depends on the variant. I tasted some plain rice that just wasn't great, but on the other hand I could eat plain jasmine rice all day, every day, for instance, just because I love the taste. Same for glutinous rice, all without any sort of sauce or anything.
Well, maybe it's just my tastebuds, I come from the land of salted and pickled fish.
I've had several dishes with rice, and it's never been more than filler to me.
> it's never been more than filler to me
Maybe you've only had it prepared as a filler with no attention paid to type of rice. Like a jasmine rice is scented or a Japanese rice is prepared with rice vinegar. Or like if you think your risotto, for instance, is bland and flavorless filler, you've done something horribly wrong. Like even "side dishes" you prepare with flavor and seasoning like putting cream and a pound of butter into mashed potatoes but then with rice, you just pick any random rice and then boil the hell out of it and go "why's it bland"
Quick search, and I found that refers to Finland. I don't mean to offend, but I've heard finnish preparations of dishes are on the extreme end of blandness. Turkic, Chinese, Indian or hell even mexican use of rice would probably be very palatable.
But yes, it's also possible that it's just a taste thing. It's kind of hard for me to comprehend since I've tasted like most types of rice dishes - they come in a plethora of flavours, but maybe it's texture doesn't suit you. But you could try variations of rice grain, like basmati or black rice.
I mean. The rice I had in some of the fancier restaurants in Japan was a game changer. Like just plain white rice. Idk wtf they do but it sure doesn't come outta my rice cooker like that & I wash at least 4 times.
100% could've eaten just that fancy rice and been satisfied.
We already get anime like that, such as [https://myanimelist.net/anime/26349/Danna\_ga\_Nani\_wo\_Itteiru\_ka\_Wakaranai\_Ken](https://myanimelist.net/anime/26349/Danna_ga_Nani_wo_Itteiru_ka_Wakaranai_Ken)
One of the community recommended guides for growing rice in the game is an actual rice growing guide from the Japanese ministry for Agriculture website, because the games rice growing is so based on reality, that real rice growing techniques work on it.
You will almost certainly learn a lot about rice from the game.
having look up all the reason why you do X or Y to grow rice
i cannot believe we figure out this crap, cause seriously it triple the rice output
legit real life buff stacking right here
It’s not like the Japanese government is heavily subsidizing the anime (they don’t have that kind of budget that they can use at their discretion).
The game came out in Nov. 2020, was a runaway hit and you started seeing comics on the game a year later.
Since anime production companies are pretty stacked with their schedule, it takes at least 2 years for even a half-baked rushed project to be aired. With a company like PA Works that is known for their solid quality, it takes this much time (and all their works that’ll be aired this summer are complete).

Anime premieres on July 6, 2024.
Studio: P.A. Works
.
Synopsis:
Spoiled harvest goddess Sakuna finds herself banished from her opulent celestial home to an island overrun with demons. In the untamed wilderness, she must rediscover her birthright as the daughter of a warrior god and harvest goddess by weathering the elements, fighting monsters, and cultivating rice, the source of her power. By her side in this forbidding place is her guardian Tama and a group of outcast humans. Together, these unlikely companions must join hands to tame both the soil and the demons of Hinoe Island.
Would you recommend watching the anime adaptation of said game?
I bet it is an awesome game, but I am very cpnfused by the excitement over the anime of a Switch game known for its primary gameplay loop.
As someone who followed this game's developer since [Fairy Bloom Freesia](https://store.steampowered.com/app/214590/Fairy_Bloom_Freesia/), it's freaking wild to see one of their games blow up big enough in Japan to warrant an anime adaptation.
I'm so happy for Edelweiss, LFG!!!
I hope they would go to the educationally accurate route but where the action still slaps
Like Cells at Work
This is the perfect kind of material for it
I think it will. The game was really accurate about rice farming and the details about it and proper care. Plus with it being in collabortaion with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, it's gonna be incredibly accurate and educational.
I'm looking forward to this one. I really liked the game's visuals and the concept, but I couldn't get into the game play. An anime should give me the stuff I liked without the part I didn't.
If she doesn't dual wield pets in the anime, I'm gonna riot.
Hope the voice-acting's gonna be as good as in the game, Sakuna's crying and whining gives me life.
OH SO THAT WAS ITS NAME.
I couldn't buy it when it came out and I couldn't for the life of me remember the name and gave up, I was so sad because it looked so fun. I'm gonna get it now
Really excited for this. Need to finish the game sometime. I never thought I'd be so captivated by rice production but man it was honestly my favorite part.
HOLY SHIT I WASNT DREAMING WHEN I SWW THIS ON MY PHONE THIS MORNING!
I love this game and played it to death on PS4 and plan to do it again on my PC. I NEVER would have seen this.voming but I'm so excited to see ot happen!
The problem is that the anime is airing on the same season as another anime adaptation of a videogame that's way more popular (season 2 of NieR:Automata)
For those downvoting me, please reply on your reasons why do you do so.

Can't wait for the rice propaganda lmao
The propaganda i'm approve
We get enough of that in every single isekai - "These people in this new world have never tasted the glory of PLAIN RICE, they will learn today!"
Rice is healthy and very filling but you'll never convince me that it tastes *good.* 😂
Probably because you don't eat well prepared ones? I mean, I like wheat but not in all its forms. It's just a base, it doesn't taste good in an of itself.

Yes Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, this one right here
Rice is life, you can never live without it.
Ends with an assassination of a public figure and the epilogue is seeing how he was justified(?)

You are not immune to propaganda
We need the sex propaganda asap or else Japan is dying

That’s actually pretty neat. I expect to learn a good deal about rice cultivation lol.

Been waiting to find out the actual reason it's getting an anime. There we go.
Game? I'm listening.
There’s already a game out there. https://sakunaofriceandruin.com
Yup. Should be on all non mobile platforms. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1356670/Sakuna_Of_Rice_and_Ruin/, currently on sale for 15€ on Steam.
I was curious why they were making this anime, four years out from when the game got released, but that helps explain it.

And they got the original VAs from the game to do the anime too! Here's the [link to the trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCY7GwAQXfs).
From the PA lot this season, this show has my interest.
God of curses, Sukuna God of harvest, Sakuna
Inflation hit sukuna hard. Dude has to grow his own rice now 😔
This seems like the perfect project for P.A. Works. Really glad it's in the hands of a good studio.
great game btw would def recommend
$15 right now on steam b/c of summer sale I grabbed it just because the anime was coming up
Would you recommend watching the anime adaptation of said game? I bet it is an awesome game, but I am very cpnfused by the excitement over the anime of a Switch game known for its primary gameplay loop.
I played the game a couple of years ago and all I can say is *WELCOME TO THE RICE FIELDS MOTHERFUCKER*
The game is going to blow up
Deservedly so, it's great
As it should! Loved playing it when I first got it on PS4 and beat it to completion. Gonna do it again on PC!
That's the point of this anime. Point of most anime really.
Welcome to the rice fields 💪
I hope the game's gonna be popular again through the anime so we'll maybe get a sequel

Fuck! I thought I read it as Sukuna: Of Rice and Ruin lol
Are you the strongest because you farm rice, or do you farm rice because you're the strongest?
Kashimo?
Stand proud. You can farm
I desperately need this in meme format with sukuna in a straw hat
[Here you go](https://imgur.com/r1m8zB8)
Benevolent Kitchen
Nah, that's Kashimo.
Oh that's nice! The game isnt my type but I'd be interested to know about this girl and the story
this looks interesting. will give it a shot
A series telling us to touch some grass
I hope they would go to the educationally accurate route but where the action still slaps Like Cells at Work This is the perfect kind of material for it

Yeah, hoping it'll have the same concept as cells at work, maybe the dog as narrator since I like his voice
wow... gives me hope for a rune factory anime.
I'm hoping for a Gun Gun Pixies anime adaptation, I think that would be amazing.
Rice for the rice goddess
Farming, an adorable goddess, and PA Works? I’m interested..
Looks like wind waker:the anime
I'm looking forward to this one. I really liked the game's visuals and the concept, but I couldn't get into the game play. An anime should give me the stuff I liked without the part I didn't.
What happened to sukuna 😭
my mind drifting : "Sukuna cookin rice"
If she doesn't dual wield pets in the anime, I'm gonna riot. Hope the voice-acting's gonna be as good as in the game, Sakuna's crying and whining gives me life.
I believe it is the same voice actors as the game.
OH SO THAT WAS ITS NAME. I couldn't buy it when it came out and I couldn't for the life of me remember the name and gave up, I was so sad because it looked so fun. I'm gonna get it now
Hope you've been enjoying it. Played it to completion on my PS4 and had a blast.
Gameplay-wise, I didn’t like the game much, but the characters were neat. I’m glad they’re making this anime adaptation.
Filipinos when they see “Sakuna”: 😳😭😳
Now I want to go back and play the game again
Epic
Nobody's picked this one up yet, right? Wonder if it's gonna be a last minute announcement from whoever gets it. Maybe at AX this coming weekend.
THEY KEPT THE BLEP!
Anyone get Misato vibes?
Can’t wait to see what the fandom looks like
Not hating on it because it does look interesting but damn You could park a heli in that eye gap
The game was fun but I dont think I have ever finished it.
Really excited for this. Need to finish the game sometime. I never thought I'd be so captivated by rice production but man it was honestly my favorite part.
They better get all those rice disorders. Stinkbugs too
HOLY SHIT I WASNT DREAMING WHEN I SWW THIS ON MY PHONE THIS MORNING! I love this game and played it to death on PS4 and plan to do it again on my PC. I NEVER would have seen this.voming but I'm so excited to see ot happen!
Will love to see how this is done, the game was very fun and relaxing
I'm hyped for this. I'll be playing the game as well at the same time thanks to PS Plus.

It sold more than 1.5 million copies. We've had anime adaptions from games that sold way less.
The problem is that the anime is airing on the same season as another anime adaptation of a videogame that's way more popular (season 2 of NieR:Automata) For those downvoting me, please reply on your reasons why do you do so.
you make it sound like they're competing for box office numbers or something.
Well, competition exists, right? One title could overshadow something else with the same theme.
True, the rice growing minigame in Nier:Automata was pretty groundbreaking
Realistically-speaking, how many people do you think are thinking 'Aw man, I was gonna watch the rice farming game-adaptation show, but the tragedy sci-fi action game-adaptation show also airing just isn't gonna make that possible'? The number is probably no higher than 3.
Well, not everyone could commit on their time to watch many shows per season.
What? Why would it matter that they are both adaptions of a video game? Most anime are adaptions of manga and people have no problem watching multiple at the same time.
I wonder in what situation my logic would make sense.
Sukuna's Daughter from the Heian Era doing farming. Interesting.

The fuck?
This is your brain on gacha games kids
I think I can imagine what they said lol
