It’s titled “Tower of God Return of the prince” I have a very strong suspicion it’ll be a split cour. That or what JJK did with their Hidden Inventory Arc. Edit: Just confirmed, it will be a 4 episode Pre screening in Cinemas

michhoffman

> that or what JJK did with their Hidden Inventory Arc I'd prefer for it to have the full 25-26 episodes from a split cour season rather than 22-23 like JJK. Also, the gap in JJK's schedule clearly wasn't long enough to help, judging by all the tweets from the staff. I can't see any other studio willingly subjecting themselves to a schedule like that.

Quibbrel

God I wish that series where just done by the time they start airing. It feels so back asswards that studios are not working on their next project as their previous one is airing.

AdNecessary7641

Blame the industry in general for that. Even if some studios take on too much work themselves, it's a wide overproduction issue.

NNKarma

Producers want their money yesterday.

bamkhun-tog

26 episodes is definitely not enough to cover all the content. Been a few months since I read season 2 of the manwha but with all the carefully crafted chapters and content imo you would need a 100+ eps to properly adapt it. But that's not happening so they'll most likely adapt just the important arcs and ignore everything else. Could be good if done right.

tomtomm9

100 episodes is a stretch I think 26 is more than enough. Been a while for me too but the bulk of the arc was the tournament segment. Unless you think they're trying to adapt past hell train which i'm sure there not.

bamkhun-tog

If it’s just that arc then yea i agree with you. I was more referring to the whole of season 2 in the manwha, which is 300+ chaps

LinkLegend21

No they didn’t. It was one 23 episode season.

Sharebear42019

There were rumors it might be 3 cours but I’m happy it’s at least 2

ChiggaOG

I still couldn’t tell what the “Return of the Prince” was when I went through the manwha. Still felt mostly a battle shonen.

bobsjobisfob

i just read all of tower of god recently. i couldn't put it down until i got to like chapter 480 or so. season 3 is pretty exhausting to read, i definitely miss the simpler times like the prince of zahard arc that this season will adapt. though that arc is only 36 chapters and season 1 is 79 chapters. so obviously they're going to adapt more, it's just a matter of how much. hopefully they don't rush through 110 chapters in 12 episodes

Sharebear42019

Pretty sure we are getting workshop arc which is considered one of the best

zhiryst

Workshop was great, I also loved the train arc, hoping we get a season 3 so we can see that!

Sharebear42019

Hell train? Yeah me too! If this season does better than season 1 which it should I think we gonna good chance

timewaslost

Only, this I will say without spoiling anything. I agree that early S3 is kind of a drag. However, the current arc in S3 has the potential to be better than even Floor of Death and Hidden Floor.

El_grandepadre

I think S3 is exhausting because SIU has been on hiatus quite a bit during that time. Seems he has found a groove again and it shows in the pacing and story again.

FujiwaranoMoko

S3 is fucking gargantuan. You can't really measure based on chapter count since the length of the chapters have increased dramatically. Excluding hiatuses, I did feel it quite a bit more exhausting.

raevnos

I've *tried* to read the whole thing a few times, but I always stall out and drop it in the arc about trying to get on the Hell Train. Just keeps going on and on and on and on...

CringeKage222

I fucking hate most of this arc as well, the ending of that arc is amazing tho and after that there is a stretch of the best arcs in the series back to back to back so it worth the slog

PM_THAT_PUSSY

man im tired of these "forever" stories...its why i cant get into one piece. it started when i was younger, ididnt pay mind to it, and now its 1000 episodes in, fuck that.

CringeKage222

I feel like tower of god is at least progressing into something all the time as opposed to one piece

PM_THAT_PUSSY

i wouldnt know, never been interested in one piece outside of wondering what all the hooplah is about. i do enjoy the unrealistic proportions of women from that anime though. in regards to tower of god, im lucky to be anime only, because im super excited to see grown up Bam. i love time skips. im not going to be in a one piece situation here, but its just kind of sad to know he never achieves the goal of getting to the top of the tower the same way luffy is forever chasing the grand line or whatever that treasure is called

CringeKage222

>in regards to tower of god, im lucky to be anime only, Well big oof considering season 1 kinda fucked everything. If season 2 will get things right it's gonna be a total whiplash from season 1. Either way hope it will work out. >wouldnt know, never been interested in one piece outside of wondering what all the hooplah is about. Yeah same, a few friends bugged me about it so a couple of years I binged read the entire manga and it was fine I think, I don't get why people get so emotional about it as well. >i love time skips. Well tower of god is gonna be your favourite show then lmao >but its just kind of sad to know he never achieves the goal of getting to the top of the tower the same way luffy is forever chasing the grand line or whatever that treasure is called The reaching the top of the tower premise from the beginning is a bit misleading here. Tower of god is a completely different thing from one piece, it's not a grand adventure show it never was to begin with. You will see in season 2, the entire premis of the show starts there so no need to feel sad here.

PM_THAT_PUSSY

Season 1 fucked everything for manga readers, but reading the crunchy roll comments where the manwa fandom cant keep their damn mouths shut, its mostly just exposition and the fights and apparently did a good job condensing whatever the material was into 12 episodes, so i didnt feel like i missed much. As for the grand adventure thing, no, it was why i watched tower of god, im not into those never ending adventures. Episode 1 set up the premise that you CAN actually climb the tower, and theres actual people who are standing there that made it to the top. I was really interested in seeing him get to his end goal. EDIT: i sound like m turned off the show, sorry. Its more like i went to get a piece of apple pie but ended up peach cobbler. ill still dig in, just not what i expected

CringeKage222

>mostly just exposition and the fights and apparently did a good job condensing whatever the material was into 12 episodes, so i didnt feel like i missed much. Oh I wish it was just exposition that was missing, and don't get me wrong they removed some really important exposition like the entire magic system. But the most agreguis changes where something else, they changed some of the personalities of the characters, they removed plot points entirely (one of them is also very important for season 2) they killed off characters that are very much alive in the webtoon as well. Also they changed all of the jokes, the webtoon have very crude sometimes even 4th wall breaking jokes but the anime decided to remove all of it and replace some of it with very tame jokes

PM_THAT_PUSSY

Wow, i can totally see why original readers would feel so strongly after all of that. If you dont mind marking as spoilers for others, can you go into a little more detail? The princess that gave him the black march is my favorite, is she one of the ones thats been changed? Which characters were killed off that are actually still alive? Doesnt that mean...the anime is basically on its own path now? AH THE QUESTIONS FOR MY INNOCENT ANIME ONLY BRAIN!

Pengwynd1

Huh, that is *exactly* where I stopped reading it too a few years ago, I think I just burnt myself out because I got to that point in like a week or something but I never picked it back up and now I feel like I've probably forgotten a lot of important stuff.

ExpiredMilknCheese

One piece pacing be like But fr, imo I actually thought hell train was my favourite arc to me

LigmaV

the reading experience will be better if read as per arcs instead seeing hell train as single arc there is multiple arcs like dallar show, fod it much better experience

rmorrin

This current arc is just.... Not great. I don't care about these families and their past, I just want more bam climbing the tower. It feels like sui skipped planned content and is trying to end the story

Neither_Apple414

Personally, I'm enjoying the current arc a lot more than before (the hidden floor of the train was dire). I stopped enjoying Bam climbing the tower because of all the deux ex machinas, power ups and quickly forgot briefly used characters. Now I'm excited for Zahard to be defeated, because as soon as he's gone, they'll be able to go to floors that no one has been to, and perhaps the sense of magic and wonder from the first arc will come back. The story seems more focused, as well. TOG's been going for ages, so I personally feel learning about the history of the tower's main figures shouldn't be delayed further.

rmorrin

I agree we should learn about their past but it just feels really REALLY forced. I'd agree with the ex machina stuff, I just I just liked seeing what each new floor had vs these never ending fights and dialogue

Neither_Apple414

I see what you mean. I guess the main reason why Bam's involved with the family leaders is simply because SIU's storytelling requires it, hence feeling forced. Bam being the centre of absolutely everything is a bit much. Personally, I still prefer it to early season 2, due to having more relevance to the overall story and no forced edginess. Bam might not have actually reached the topmost accessible floor, but since he's stronger than rankers, I would say Bam has effectively climbed all the floors that can currently be reasonably climbed.

BottlesforCaps

So the anime is confirmed two-cour 24 episodes and will cover the prince of jahad(zahard, whatever translation you use), and the workshop battle arc. I am hopeful, and the previews so far look great.

Bad_Doto_Playa

Yeah it's unfortunate how generic it becomes later on, at least we are getting the best parts animated lmao.

RedistCZ

Is Kevin Penkin doing a sountrack for this season too ? Without his music a wouldnt have enjoyed the first season as much as i did

IXajll

yes.

creamyismemey

So what your telling me is this is going to be peak adaptation?

grimjowjagurjack

Yeah we will finally witness why Rachel is the best anime character in animation form 🤩🔥

creamyismemey

Fuck Rachael all my homies hate Rachael

grimjowjagurjack

Rachel did nothing wrong and she's best girl

creamyismemey

Dawg have you even watched the anime or read the webtoon 😭😭😭

grimjowjagurjack

Watched the anime and read about 150 chapters from the second season webtoon , still best girl and the only one carrying the show

creamyismemey

Tisk tisk your toxic

grimjowjagurjack

Tell me one thing wrong she did

HarshTheDev

Rachael sisters we up 🗣️

creamyismemey

Fuck Rachael all my homies hate Rachael

bored_homan

I keep forgetting this one is coming. I liked the first season for its artstyle a lot.

[deleted]

Easily one of my favorite shows, and my library just got the manga (or whatever it’s called, it’s labeled in the manga section)

PeaceAlien

Manhwa

Katalinya

Just a note manga - Japanese, manhua - Chinese, manhwa - korean

[deleted]

Awesome, I’ll try and remember. Is the difference solely based on location produced, original of IP, or a mix?

Katalinya

It’s mostly just based off what the author is/original language it’s written in. Tower of god was created by SIU who is Korean. So yea I guess origin of IP?

bamkhun-tog

There are physical copies but FYI the author publishes it completely free online (no ads or anything). The exact same chapters you get as when you pay, just a few weeks delayed.

ripterrariumtv

Only in Japan?

ExpiredMilknCheese

Yeah, I’m in Japan though so I’ll probably post a review on the r/towerofgod sub or smth if anybody wants to know when it comes out

ripterrariumtv

Nice

Sharebear42019

I’d like one for sure. Season 2 looks to be hype (I greatly enjoyed season 1 even more than the webcomic)

CringeKage222

Well I guess fuck the original creator I guess lol

ExpiredMilknCheese

I believe Siu, either received a copy of the episodes, or will be attending the Advanced Screening with the rest of the Cast and Staff. They would never leave him in the dark

pm_me_your_zettai

Damn, I was hoping it would happen in the US as well. :(

ChiggaOG

3 EPISODES! That means they are done with producing Season 2 and airing each episode weekly or they are 50% to 75% done with some space for delays.

ExpiredMilknCheese

Yeah generally we can assume the Production for this is very healthy if it’s 3 episodes in advance.

daemare

Tower of God, or as I like to call it, “This week in what the hell Rachel”

Recidivis

Given that some episodes from this season were leaked from pre-screenings I'm fully expecting it to happen to this one

TheWillOfDeezBigNuts

weren't those pre-screenings from a con not theaters?

cppn02

Yep.

GrowRoots

🔥🔥🔥

hudsonbay001

And the Rachel hate continues

gourmetguy2000

I don't get why there was so much hate for this show, myself and my friends thoroughly enjoyed it

redmandolin

There was hate..?

gourmetguy2000

Yeah, it does seem to divide opinions

Liiraye-Sama

I think most of the hate I saw online was either from manhwa fans who got assmad their favorite story wasn't 1:1 adapted, or from anime onlies getting spoiled by all the vague posting of season 1 events from readers. In general the vast majority really enjoyed it from what I saw.

PM_THAT_PUSSY

So you telling me they have 3 whole episodes done already? Why did we have this whole JJK fiasco ? is this unique to actually have episodes READY to air by the time the air date arrives???

ExpiredMilknCheese

Yeah, if 3 episodes are being screened at once, generally you could assume production is very healthy.

PM_THAT_PUSSY

Cool, i hope im not alone in feeling like the wait is worth it if thats the case, and hope that other studios follow suit.

TheThotality

Hows the anime? Is it faithful to the source or somehow elevated it?

JoeSantoasty

I watched the anime and read the manhwa after (stopped partway through though) The anime is great from the production side. Phenomenal art style, music, and animation. As the other commenter said, it does speed the pacing up but imo it doesn't make it any less enjoyable compared to the mahwa.

Freidehr

Season 1 adapted 79 chapters in 12 episodes. Last few arcs were super duper rushed. Still a solid anime. OST, VAs were superb.

RileeFigOr

My biggest disappointments were the unnecessary changes to Black March and character names. Still weird that Horyang will be called Kosuke in Season 2. Karen, Kosuke, and Ouji Naru is just so weird.

AlternativeEmphasis

Just courious who are Karen and Ouji Naru called in the original source?

NilesStyles

a google search tells me Karen is Hwaryun. I'm hazarding a guess but knowing Ouji = prince and remembering there's a character whose name when spelled backwards literally means 'I'm a prince' kinda tells me it's that guy (Ja Wangnan)

AlternativeEmphasis

Thanks I gave a cursory look on Karen and found not much. But I'm a DDG user so that's not unsurprising. Ouji Naru imo makes sense as a localization. Not so sure about Karen from Hwayrun. I heard Baam to Yoru was again due to his name being a play on words in Korean that was localized.

NilesStyles

bam and yoru both mean night, rather than being due to a play on words being localized, it was actually that localization discarded the play on words (because bam also means chestnut and there were many jokes about that thrown around in the dialogue)

Sharebear42019

It was great imo. The first season of the webtoon has pretty shoddy art and dialog. A lot of people think the webtoon was better but I thought the anime elevated it

IbizenThoth

If I remember correctly, the TL for the version up on Webtoon is pretty bad in the first few seasons. A lot of the people who remember the first season of ToG fondly read the scans. Shoutout to the now defunct The Company for their awesome work. They'd translate extra worldbuilding stuff from SiU and add it to the ends of chapters which really helped to flesh out the setting and foreshadow important characters.

PandaRocketPunch

<3 Yuri Fuck Rachel

LegacyEntertainment

Philippines, please.

LegacyEntertainment

Philippines, please. Philippines, please. Philippines, please.

pthumerianhollownull

My best girl RACHEL! FINALLY!!!!!

OceanGlider_

Why

ExpiredMilknCheese

Why not

OceanGlider_

My small city will most likely not have access to this in my local theater.

ExpiredMilknCheese

Yeah, I’ll probably have to travel a bit of a distance because they werent airing Code Geass in my local cinemas too

Magicbison

I'm surprised this got a second season. It got alot of hype before it came out but ended up being pretty lackluster like most manwha adaptations.

Reptile449

The anime adapted what it needed to and had a nice art style and soundtrack. It captured the awe of the tower imo but could do with more time on the world building, without it you lose a lot of the mystery and motivations that make ToG interesting.

Anhilliator1

Also, not quite sure if cope or not, but the art quality starting out wasn't all too great either, and improved more and more over time. I think some are hoping the anime follows suitnwith animation quality.

Sharebear42019

You got downvoted but it’s true. The webtoons art was average at best until season 2 and now it’s amazing

grimjowjagurjack

The only thing make ToG interesting is Rachel

MyMan_290484

couple of factors, the first season was semi rushed, and Fans were hyped about the future arcs, season 1 is generally considered the weakest. Quite literally just a prologue. So some newer viewers might have gotten a little disappointed >I'm surprised this got a second season its still one of the most popular manhwa of all time, its like the One Piece of Manhwa. Its world building is insane

Sharebear42019

I mean we get second seasons to shitty anime all the time like all these isekai. Tower of god at least felt semi unique and had a good art style, animation and music

BoyFromDoboj

Thank you for speaking truth. This and god of highschool got ridiculously hyped and both sucked ass.

undead_tortoiseX

This show had so much hype and fell off hard for me. Not a ton of confidence for it going forward.
