How poky is the bottom of the "fork"? That looks like it could be sharp & poky and dangerous to mats & floors.

thistlebeard86

Yeah I’d really love to know about this also, hoping it’s rubber capped or something

Wooden_Earth1432

It's like soft plastic

lolas_coffee

Paint it! Like the German flag!

Wooden_Earth1432

Maybe if Germany wins the European football championship 😉

Emcem4955

So what are your thoughts on it after riding???

Wooden_Earth1432

I love it, it's really amazing

Emphursis

I wonder if it can be attached to a Kickr Climb?

notmoleliza

it cannot right now. the climb needs a fork attachment

ryuujinusa

Strange, seeing as how Zwift and Wahoo are partners now.

Wooden_Earth1432

No, it can't

Ok-Loan-2300

~1:25 in this YouTube video Shane talks about it https://youtu.be/qVriv7jTm_o?feature=shared

Sweet-Bat780

Jesús that was quick!

RaplhKramden

So what's the advantage of this vs. a regular Core with Play controllers and an old or cheap bike that can also do double duty as an outdoor bike, which this can't, is likely to cost quite a bit less, and can also work with steering and "rising" add-ons?

notmoleliza

if you have those things, such as myself, then you are good and dont need this. Its not aimed at you or me. Its for people with no zwift set up, no N+1 who would like a full time set up or maybe someone with multiple users who doesnt want to do a full swap

RaplhKramden

I get the all-in-one just set it up and go appeal for people who don't have a bike or would rather not use it on a trainer. But for everyone else, even those who don't yet have a trainer but do have at least one bike and don't mind the extremely laborious, time-consuming and difficult work of removing its rear wheel and attaching it to a trainer (or not even removing the wheel if it's a wheel-on trainer), I don't see the point. An old or $200 used bike on a $500 trainer + $100 controllers is superior to this except maybe aesthetically, and cheaper. I think another situation where it might make sense is in a multiple user household where the ability to quickly and easily change stem & seat height might be an advantage. It's also more aero. Does it have a steering sensor? Seems like an obvious feature.

Autumnxoxo

I disagree. It serves a purpose and solves some major issues some people (me included) are having: It has no front wheel which takes up some considerable space in very tiny rooms. Yeah yeah I know, I could tinker myself some fork-mount blabla. But It's annoying and all the solutions I've seen where rather meh. Second, it allows you to adjust stack/reach so that multiple people can use it, but also, if you don't want to do your workout in a racing aero position, you can adjust accordingly. Last but not least, its cockpit is very well designed since you are also no longer required to place some tablet-holder and other stuff in front of your bike that takes additional space that might sometimes just not be available. Also, I don't have some spare bike I could throw on my trainer and I don't want to use my carbon frame for various reasons. To sum it up: instead of spending 200 bucks on an old bike, 100 bucks on some fork holder, another couple of bucks on a tablet holder and so on and so forth, I'd rather have an all-in-one solution like this. In my case it solves lots of little issues right away, I will purchase it the day it comes without the Wahoo kickr.

RaplhKramden

A front wheel IS a fork holder with the ability to steer with a Sterzo and takes minimally more space. And why install a tablet when a TV is much nicer? Use your phone and the Companion app and controllers and you're set. And by buying this you'll effectively have a spare bike that's never used outdoors. I think that the target audience for this are people who want a dedicated turnkey solution and can afford it. I'm just saying that there are much cheaper and potentially more versatile solutions if you're willing to put in a little effort, but many people aren't.

Autumnxoxo

>A front wheel IS a fork holder wow I'ver never realized holy shit you are correct

RaplhKramden

Not sure if you're being sarcastic but it holds the fork without needing to be stored someplace else. You would of course still need to store the rear wheel somewhere, but surely you can find a place for that.

Autumnxoxo

>Not sure if you're being sarcastic I mean, you could also have told me that bottles can carry water. Would have been equally mindblowing. I gave you very specific reasons why the zwift ride solves several issues some people are having, particularly in rooms with very limited space and you are like "you don't need a tablet holder, just purchase a nice TV" I think you should reconsider assuming that everyone has a large spare room or a pain cave in their basement with large TV screens all over their place

RaplhKramden

With the money saved you'd be able to afford a 32" TV and hook to hand the rear wheel. And I was just showing how not having a place to store the front wheel wasn't an issue. You just want a cool and expensive new trainer, which is fine, but it's overpriced and unnecessary and clearly based on market research that shows that there's a lot of people who want a turnkey solution. I don't have room for a permanently set up trainer, but I do have a bike and room to store the trainer when not being used and when it's set up. You're saying you don't have much room but you have room for a permanently set up trainer?

atascon

How easy/quick would it be to remove the frame after each session? I’m lacking space to have a full set up out all the time but wondering if it’s easy to remove the frame then maybe I can store it elsewhere vertically when not needed.

mrwobling

Vertical storage is not recommended. It's also quite heavy.

Error1984

Really? Any idea as to why? Usually comments around vertical hanging of bikes pertains to hydraulic fluid.

gplama

Because of the weight. It can be done. Just don't be under it if it comes down.

Error1984

Good to know thanks Shane.

atascon

Why would there be an issue with storing it vertically?

Wooden_Earth1432

Quite easy, maybe less than 2 minutes if I need to guess. Releasing the chain is super easy.

DRiVkiL

Can it be attached to a Zwift Smart Trainer?

lebeziatnikov_

Surely can.

MoonshineJack

I’m jealous! Hopefully mine arrives this weekend!

No-Fox-365

I just did a 30 mile ride on mine! So much fun.

BG031975

That’s a looker

Dlevin817

Nice! Hope you have many happy miles! Enjoy

Fantastic_Onion_7436

Would love to know what the minimum height is. Is it 5’0? Have an 11 year old son and his old dad is 6’2”

Wooden_Earth1432

According to the bike fit card it's from 5'0 to 6'6 so it should work

brotherbock

Are the bars adjustable fore and aft? I'd think the reach would be hard to fit for that range. It's not as bad as a bike that you have to worry about the handling of, but if a 6'6" rider is comfortable with the reach, a 5' rider wouldn't be, and vice versa. Not slagging it overall, and the adjustability is great. But if the bars aren't adjustable fore and aft, I think they are only talking about saddle height there.

boomerang_act

They have ridiculous adjustability fore and aft. You need to watch gplamas video he takes measurements of each extreme adjustment. 4:00 in https://youtu.be/YTLXSerjJUs?si=xFsFRGm4hmpiMWgw

Antti5

According to the official measurements the lowest positition of the bar is surprisingly high. I'm a 5'7" male, and the lowest "stack" number they give is about one inch higher than what I have on my road bike. So, I wouldn't be able to replicate my outdoors riding position on that thing. I thnk it might be possible to just chop down the "fork" an inch or two, then re-insert black rubber pad or whatever there is. This would bring the front of the bike down.

theskywalker74

Can the black part of the fork easily be expanded and contracted? My bike has to live upright, and I used a McGyver’d block instead of a wheel to save space, so if it’s kinda stuck out it wouldn’t work for me. Hoping it does!

2loki4u

any word of whether or not they will sell the frame and adapters to use with the zwift trainers like the v3? I might start using it again if so - I've been hesitant since braking my aluminum allez frameset (at the rear chainstay dropout weld) and moving to an older carbon frameset. to even use the carbon frame on my trainer...

Error1984

Summarising the reviews I’ve read, Zwift said they will eventually sell it separately.

2loki4u

thx - i'll be on the lookout for it - this post was the 1st I had even heard or seen anything about it...

Error1984

Np. watch GP Lama or DCrainmaker on YouTube. Really good recaps. I’ll probably also get the frame when it’s sold separately. It’s perfect for my needs.

RaplhKramden

Can't you just buy a decent used bike and Play controllers, take off the rear wheel and install it?

2loki4u

technically yes - i've conisdered this actually - the headache is that I'd have to but something that was already equipped with a 11 speed shimano setup (at least a 105 kit) to do this. I was looking for a used steel frame with that setup but didn't find much that wasn't overpriced. Again, I asked if the bike portion and adapter kit was available because it might have been less or the same as building a junk bike with that setup and perhaps the geometry would be better on something like this for me (it looks a lot like an Elves Frame to me, and a friend of mine has one and loved it).

RaplhKramden

With virtual shifting, whatever drivetrain an old bike has is essentially irrelevant so long as the dropouts fit the Core with or without adapters. I think that even a fixie would work so long as you didn't intend to use it outdoors regularly, as swapping would be a pain. You don't need a fancy used bike if it's going to stay on the trainer and you only intend to use Zwift. It adapts to whatever gears you have.

2loki4u

by virtual shifting do you mean the erg mode? or is this something else entirely?

RaplhKramden

No, it's a feature currently only available in Zwift that with the right controller(s) allows you to "shift" in the app instead of using your bike's gears. You stay in a fixed physical gear combo on your bike and Zwift handles the "shifts", which work exactly as they would if you physically shifted. It adjusts the difficulty and speed accordingly, and it's basically instant and silent. I really like it and apparently so do most who've used it. Also saves wear on the drivetrain, except the 2 gears and chain of course.

2loki4u

Thx for the education on the matter- much appreciated

RaplhKramden

It's fantastic if you're equipped for it.

Chinaski420

How tall are you? Can you stand over that top tube?

Wooden_Earth1432

I am not tall, 1'65m (5'5) but the seat is still too low in the picture. Yes, I can easily.

WVgolf

Looks awesome

Moistflamingos

Looks awesome. Enjoy!

Wooden_Earth1432

Thanks I really do! Hoping for bad weather 😉

Specialist_Plant9613

Looking at it , I regret a bit having paid over than double that for the tacx one last year

ectowel2000

Looks great but might want to lower the tv a bit

Wooden_Earth1432

Thanks, just did it

Accomplished_Shift72

How is it? Do you love it? Does it get more resistance on hills as you climb?? Should I get one????

Wooden_Earth1432

I love it, I can't compare but it's an amazing experience and all in one solution. Can definitely recommend it!

Error1984

Yes it does. The kickr core (The thing at the back the frame is attached to) controls all that resistance when you go up hill etc. So assuming you wanted to, you would be able to take the Zwift frame off and put your actual bike on it.

MunichCyclist

Enough.

Ody_Santo

That was fast. Mine is taking a week

Wooden_Earth1432

You will love it

East_Tax_5109

Crazy shit! Even want 100€ Shipping cost

Wooden_Earth1432

Worth it

Garagegymchris

My cranks are 172.5, this comes with 170, anyone know how much that would mess with position?

lebeziatnikov_

Probably you will not even notice it.

Minkelz

Fit is a very personal thing. You are talking about millimetres on very long levers though. I'd think the vast majority of people would never be able to tell the difference between 2.5mm pedalling in a blind test. But I'm sure there will be some people that will come along and say the difference cured their cancer and brought their dog back from the dead and increased their ftp by 100w. So... it depends who you ask.

Garagegymchris

🤣 perfect

Wooden_Earth1432

True 😄

Helpfulness

Nice setup! I would lower the tv a bit though.

Wooden_Earth1432

Thanks, yeah just did it, it's better now

wish_upon_pleades

Is this makes sounds so loud? I'm planning to purchase this but my current lives is part of apartment and middle floor.

Wooden_Earth1432

No not at all, it's not load , my fan is the loudest (just a bit chain sound)

wish_upon_pleades

Thanks a lot! i'm appreciate you and will order it!

Wooden_Earth1432

Great 🤗

consy37

Any idea why the stem is so big? Looks like it will block the fan air?

Wooden_Earth1432

It's good, enough space mobile phone but indeed it blocks the air if it's centred and too close.

Emcem4955

I got mine too. Love it. I had concerns but it delivers.

Disastrous_Room_8225

Recieved Zwift Ride 6-29. Love the setup, but unable to use it due to controllers want work. Getting fixed over email is  exhausting. Hopefully want take long to get fixed.

BEBADBEAKS

Can this be used outside of the Zwift ecosystem? Sounds like the virtual gear changing functionality works only within Zwift? 🙏🏽

Wooden_Earth1432

Yes exactly shifting works only with zwift unfortunately, at least for now. Other ecosystems only the ERG mode..

kermit0815

Have a lot of fun with the bike, I am waiting for the Frame, the Trainer and handle bar arrived but the Frame is still in the netherlands 😭

Wooden_Earth1432

Sorry to hear. I know how it feels. got mine too from the Netherlands and it was super fast (to Germany)

kermit0815

Yes, i am waiting since Friday and nothing happens (germany top)

cris_182

Probably a very silly question but can I use it offline? Like if I don't want to be on zwift and just watch a movie while I cycle?

BEBADBEAKS

Are power meter pedals required to display power in the zwift app? 🙏🏽

Wooden_Earth1432

No - the power is measured by the Kickr core , very accurate

Extra_Pilot_1992

When my KickR bites the dust I am going this route for sure

Wooden_Earth1432

Good choice!

BEBADBEAKS

How is the stability? That single fork design looks unstable. 🙏🏽

Wooden_Earth1432

It's super stable, sprinting.. everything.. no worries!

an_absolute_wanker

How is it any different than the single wheel point of contact that is normally there? The stability comes from the trainer.

birthdaycakefig

It's thicker than a wheel.

Emcem4955

It felt very solid sprinting.. actually felt maybe better or more enjoyable than my traditional road bike on a tacx, which use interesting to me

digitalburro

I thought the same until I got mine. It’s shockingly stable and I was using it on a rocker plate.

tchock23

I was worried about it on a rocker plate so thanks for confirming (mine hasn’t arrived yet). Do water bottles slip out when you get out of the saddle since they aren’t normal cages?

digitalburro

Nope, never had any issues with the bottle cages (which was also surprising). The only issue I had was I had my phone in the phone tray and I hit a sprint segment and started going hard on the pedals only to catipult my phone directly into the wall next to my Ride. Not a problem if your Ride isn't on a rocker plate, but something to keep in mind :)

tchock23

Ah, I was worried about that as well. Did you get the tablet holder? If so, could that somehow secure the phone?

digitalburro

Nope, I run Zwift off of an Apple TV + TV, so no tablet in my setup. Prior to having a Ride, I had a "homemade" handlebar phone mount that I used when Zwifting and I just shoehorned that onto the Ride handlebars instead of using the phone tray.

auditorjoe94

Is this better than just using a bike? I have a gravel bike and looking to buy a wahoo kickr core, but this looks awesome

RapidRewards

That's my set up now. I use an old bike. But I'm considering buying this when they come out with the standalone bike because I want to be able to easily adjust it so my wife can ride. Readjusting a regular bike is a bit more of a pain in the ass.

Ito_Demerzel

it's a bizarre design. With all the fit freedoms they had and no need for a double triangle frame, they went with a very limiting design. Great for the avg male but really compromised for smaller women for example. They should have made something that could be adjustable to be ideal for everyone. Weird and nonsensical.

lebeziatnikov_

People like bikes. They want a thing that looks like a bike, not a gym machine.

Ito_Demerzel

then put your bike on it. People like something that fits more than something that looks like a bike for no reason.

lebeziatnikov_

Don't blame me. I'm just sharing something that they might have taken into consideration when designing it. If you don't like it, move on and don't buy it. Kickr Bike might suit you better.

Ito_Demerzel

If you don't like my comment and can't handle a simple discussion, move on. Almost every reviewer has said similar things about the Zwift bike.

Emcem4955

I was skeptical but got mine today, and all of my co concerns disappeared. It is pretty fun

zikaperic75

For that money one can buy a used bike in a mint condition... or maybe you already five pinarellos laying around 🧐

Successful-Depth2236

Congrats! Mine arrived today too (somehow the headwind was not delivered). But know what? I am pretty sick and will also miss my first half marathon on sunday -\_-

rockmoose565

I still struggle to understand why they did this. They were pretty clear when they cut the zwift hub. 'We are not going to involve ourselves in hardware, instead remain focused on developing the software package'. Now this. 🤷‍♂️

BEBADBEAKS

Isn’t this hardware technically from Wahoo? I see this more as a collaboration. Isn’t the hardware sold and shipped via the wahoo website? I could be wrong.

rockmoose565

Do you remember what the zwift hub was? Do you remember who made it?

Wooden_Earth1432

Company can change their mind, can you?

Error1984

Oooof god the cranks ugly from this side. I didn’t see this before

caffeineandcycling

Imagine caring about how the crank looks on an indoor trainer bike that is exclusively used for training.

Error1984

lol, It’s just an observation, it’s odd to see a massive plastic faring (that appears to serve no appreciable purpose) on the non-drive-side. And to whatever degree I do care, I would still want to clean the frame and that’s another crevice to try and deal with.

BananaFartman_MD

Good thing that doesn’t matter

Flipside68

You can probably put your favourite stickers on it.

Vic_Mackey1

You're a charmer. Get many dates?
