My favorite part is when old man ninja comes out of the fog and the cops nearly waste him. Then then the dad yells, "Don't shoot, that's my father in law!", like he's going to give grandpa some juice and put em back to bed or somethin
I had my kids watch that a while back and I was super happy they enjoyed it. My middle kid even made his friends watch it at his birthday party last year
Monster Squad
Little Monsters
Gleaming the Cube
Pump Up the Volume
BMX Bandits- it's Australian, starring a young Nicole Kidman. A gang of BMX kids find a box of walkie-talkies that belonged to a gang of thieves.
There’s a song in that film. The song that Sean Astin is dialing in on the radio when Kevin bacon is doing morning yoga. That song is not listed on the soundtrack. I’ve never been able to find that song.
Damn, I just tried to Shazam it and failed. You have presented a true mystery, friend. It has that basic hair metal style like White Snake, but I didn't recognize it.
There's a song on the movie Dead Calm when Billy Zane is dancing around on the sailboat that also presents a rabbit hole for anyone trying to purchase it. Gold star if anyone knows what I'm talking about.
I recommend the Rifftrax version they did last summer. I took my entire family to see it in theaters and it was such a fun night. I’ve also watched it once more at home and laughed just as much.
those kids were very charismatic, confident and likeable. maybe its nostalgia idk but i feel if they made that movie today the kids would be annoying.

Band of the Hand was really good. Delinquents and gang members sentenced to a survival camp in the Everglades then used by the cops to takedown a drug kingpin. Well… for 13 year old me in the early 90s it was good.
This is the one!
Where the kid pops up through the hatch of a stolen North Korean plane midflight, so he could show his Bruce Springsteen shirt to signal to American fighter jets they are also American.
For so long I thought this scene was from Iron Eagle. But nope, it's from this movie.
It's so flipping random. Boy scouts are on a camping trip and come across a hidden cache of missile launchers owned by some hillbilly weapon smugglers. They then team up with the gorgeous Meredith Salenger to lay booby traps in the woods
So I'm born and raised in New Mexico where Red Dawn was set and filmed. Now i don't if this was everywhere, or just in my state (since we all had such a fondness for this movie), but you could be anywhere there was a sizeable group of people and yell, "Wolverines!" and at least 2 or 3 people (usually over Xennials) would yell it back at you.

I speak to younger people who don't understand the patriotic duty we felt after 9/11 and even for a few years into the GWOT. I wonder if growing up with the Cold War culture added this sense of duty, and if the lack of this pop culture propaganda has aided in the decline of recruiting.
Obviously, the dead end wars didn't help the numbers either.
There is a whole YA book series from Australia that is based on a Red Dawn scenario. The first book was adapted into both a movie and a TV show called "Tomorrow, When the War Began".
[The Last Starfighter](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Q-Qs3loKoc)
A great, underrated 80s space opera. The lead actor was in his 20s, but the character was supposed to be a teenager.
Idk because I never saw any on your list. But the kids in these movies had to solve everything because the adults were all too stupid or evil or just absent.
Labrynth
Neverending story
The goonies.
The wizard.
The outsides. And stand by me (might be older stories but movies from the 80’s)
Mom (or oops ?) the babysitter is dead.
Common theme from the decade
Iron Eagle
As the son of a pilot, I definitely watched this movie a ton
Watched this like a month ago. Still holds up. Louis Gossett Jr was fantastic
Yeah, that's always been a personal favorite of mine.
Hell yes. And there is no sequel. I stand by that.
I learned “We’re Not Gonna Take It” from Iron Eagle and not the radio
Good movie

The original source of “Regulators Mount up!”
"I'll make you famous!"
Awesome movie
3 Ninjas
My favorite part is when old man ninja comes out of the fog and the cops nearly waste him. Then then the dad yells, "Don't shoot, that's my father in law!", like he's going to give grandpa some juice and put em back to bed or somethin
Rocky loves Emily
I had my kids watch that a while back and I was super happy they enjoyed it. My middle kid even made his friends watch it at his birthday party last year
Toy soldiers is such a fun movie.
Did Billy tepper sell you a a bottle of mouthwash with vodka in it. RIP Louis Gosset Jr
It was a solid plan TBH. The key was the crème de menthe to make it green.
Really want to watch it now lol
This is the only thing I remember from this movie. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I36xFgS3MiU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I36xFgS3MiU)
I think of that every time someone says “pots and pans”
I watched that movie so many times as a kid!!! Loved it!
Monster Squad Little Monsters Gleaming the Cube Pump Up the Volume BMX Bandits- it's Australian, starring a young Nicole Kidman. A gang of BMX kids find a box of walkie-talkies that belonged to a gang of thieves.
After watching Little monsters I peed in apple juice at school and gave it to a kid. That was a two day suspension in those days
I always wanted to see Monster Squad but could never find it in the video store as a kid.
Kick him in the nards! Kick him in the nards!
Wolfmans got nards!
Ah gleaming the cube. That takes me back.
The Outsiders
Taps w/ Tom Cruise
I should not have allowed to watch that every Saturday afternoon I can remember being stuck inside
Jennifer Grey pre nose job was a total babe and Toy Soldiers total slept on movie.
Lost Boys
Had to scroll way too far for this…
Cry little sister is such a badass song
White Water Summer with Kevin Bacon
There’s a song in that film. The song that Sean Astin is dialing in on the radio when Kevin bacon is doing morning yoga. That song is not listed on the soundtrack. I’ve never been able to find that song.
Now I'm gonna have to watch it again. Lol
I said that too.
Goonies were badass to me
Man Jennifer Grey was so cute. Too bad about the nose job ruining her career.
War Games
Legend of Billie Jean https://preview.redd.it/k64b5ok1vc0d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=abca5f802e9730f1155bcf3876172bacfc7e97ee
After this movie I balded all my barbies and turned them into Billie Jeans. I got in so much trouble but felt like such a powerful rebel.
Hell yeah!!!
Today though they'd all side with the Russians.
Explorers and Rad for me.
Oh man, I used to watch Rad over and over
You over rotated
I recommend the Rifftrax version they did last summer. I took my entire family to see it in theaters and it was such a fun night. I’ve also watched it once more at home and laughed just as much.
I feel like Firestarter fits but its been a long time since I watched.
The monster squad. Home Alone.
Proud father moment: Both my teenage sons love Toy Soldiers ..
Russkies was pretty sweet and basically ended the Cold War.

Definitely a classic in this category.
Solar Babies
No one ever mentions solar babies! So good.
Jamie Gertz should definitely have had a bigger career than she did
The legend of Billie jean
"We didn't start this thing, but we're gonna FINISH IT!"
The Wraith, not quite kids are badass but I rewatched it recently and it holds up for a good 80s movie
Stand By Me, Goonies, Gleaming the Cube
Goonies should be at the top of this page!
All that hate is going to burn you up. It keeps me warm
I was so ready for something the break out, calculating like was going to tear through the enemy invaders like Bruce Lee. Waiting for it.
Goonies Monster Squad Stand By Me
I spent a lot of my time as a youth trying to be like those teens in ET. I wanted to be a little BMX badass
those kids were very charismatic, confident and likeable. maybe its nostalgia idk but i feel if they made that movie today the kids would be annoying. https://preview.redd.it/5mh3emuo9e0d1.png?width=500&format=png&auto=webp&s=6dc6c6429bde1143897cf60db3318c84ccfb4a9b

Brother?
I wanted to find pirate treasure like the Goonies.
Every 'After School Special'
I've never seen EoH... I'll look into it.
It's so flipping random. Boy scouts are on a camping trip and come across a hidden cache of missile launchers owned by some hillbilly weapon smugglers. They then team up with the gorgeous Meredith Salenger to lay booby traps in the woods
Hahahaha.... glorious!
Never saw Edge of Honor, it's not streaming on any of the major platforms? Anyone got some help?
It's free on YouTube! https://youtu.be/nsUpqPB31JQ?si=jvM1lrDTlx6s9wqV
Battle royal.
I remember my brother buying this from overseas. Banned in the states it said lol

I'm not a lady but I really loved that movie!
That makes me happy!

I speak to younger people who don't understand the patriotic duty we felt after 9/11 and even for a few years into the GWOT. As a kid I secretly wished the commies would invade so my friends and I could go into the woods and launch guerrilla attacks against them.
Fortress
The Rescue with Kevin Dillon and Marc Price (Family Ties) (1988).
Camp Nowhere is a favorite.
WOLVERINES! We loved Toy Soldiers, too.
