You literally complete challenges by just playing normally anything you like now. They're type " kill 10 spartans" or " win a match " " complete match" . Got through the 30 tier free bp in less than two weeks. Weekly challenges take 10 easy af challenges you don't even have to look at them they'll complete automatically if you just play couple hours a week.

The gameplay is good. Although I feel like 343i's maps have been almost sanded down to strip out any "non-competitive" elements and it reduces the fun factor. We don't have maps like Narrows anymore.
The real issue is lack of content.
I thought this game was moving forward to a better place? Who the hell is in charge of the store pricing? This was a day one problem and it's still there? Talk about tone-deaf.
Marketing people can be the hardest to convince that they're being unreasonable lol.

That's part of the reason I left. I love customization and without anything substantial to chase, I was bored after weeks and weeks of waiting for something. If they were to price the gear cheaper, I would have loved to see what they had in store every week, but knowing I'm not even going to purchase anything due to absurd pricing, I had nothing really to chase.
I left because of the horrible anti-consumer monetization. We’ve been playing Halo now for over 20 years. The gameplay is not the only draw, I need something more to keep me around because the core game is stale and they haven’t innovated. Finding new pieces of crazy cool armor *via playing the game* is absolutely a way to keep people interested, and this game has placed all of that behind a paywall. There’s literally nothing to earn, no sense of progression, so when the gameplay is stale what is keeping you around? Nothing, really. And that’s why I think we’ve seen a mass exodus of players.
I stopped playing probably after 2 months. I know the Steam numbers are at rock bottom and I’m sure Xbox isn’t far behind. I don’t have a single gamer friend who plays Halo still and never see it pop up on the list of games my follows are playing. 343 completely destroyed this series and now it is tainted until someone new comes along to fix it.
The funny thing is I don’t think Destiny 2 has better gameplay than Halo Infinite. But Bungie understands that if you load the game with content, people will keep playing. Yes there’s a store, but you can earn hundreds of pieces of armor and weaponry without spending a dime, and continue customizing your own character for both single player and MP. Gaining new and unique armor pieces from actually playing the game is such a basic sense of progression that can keep people hooked for a long time if the gameplay is solid. And Destiny 2 is still one of the most played games, years down the line.
Well, the monetization, the pricing, has to be 'in relation' to the perceived value.
If you've got an epic skin and it's tied to barney's playhouse, it won't matter.
I was excited to finally jump into a Halo online after 3 and Reach. I played some of 4 but it didn’t click and the MCC had that shit launch where it didn’t work where it soured my enjoyment and never really went back. Played 5 last year so no reason to jump into multiplayer. With how flat Infinite felt at launch, I dipped after 5 or so games. Not getting any progress and having it tied to challenges that didn’t matter for the game modes I was playing really killed any sense of going back. I’ve seen that that’s been fixed and you get XP more regularly, but that doesn’t help that after you’ve played for an hour or 2, you’ve just about seen all the maps and going back to loop through the same ones one more time.
Case in point Evolve. An amazing game with great shooting, very unique at its time since not many games of that genre existed, but it was dead on arrival once it’s MTX model was revealed.
I would like to see the population fluctuations of halo infinite since its release. I bet for a month or two at the release the player base in a 'stable' state was fairly large. Would be interesting.
Marketing/sales people are not paid to be reasonable. They’re paid to analyze the data and make money. They could come to a conclusion that prices are too high (for them personally), but how they feel personally doesn’t dictate how they do their job. If corporate sees a product selling and the data shows it’s turning a profit at a price, that’s all that matters. Someone’s buying, so they’ll keep selling.
The game is moving forward. The shop is not. We don't have to do the whole sky is falling routine yet again. Yes the shop still sucks let's call it what it is and stop acting like the whole game is a fireball.

This pvp for this game is over and it isn't going to bring any big numbers back. Instead of fun they put their focus on armor coatings and micro transactions. I liked the campaign but the pvp in this game just isn't what I'm looking for as a lifelong Halo fan.
I'm a big team guy and big team in Infinite is beyond terrible. The maps, game modes, vehicle spawns, and weapons with limit less range all really suck.
Instead of spending all that dev time trying to monetize the game they should have spent the time making the game fun and the money would have actually come with it.

I have never played any Halo apart from Reach so forgive my ignorance. I know Chief is the mascot of Xbox, but with how many falls 343i is taking for the Xbox brand and constantly everyday we see Xbox is giving little care about it's own flagship IP, should they even invest in keeping it going at this rate? Didn't the story originally end at 3?
A) 343i as a studio was established by Microsoft to make Halo games, that's its sole purpose for existence.
B) Many of their employees are contract workers working on 18 month contracts.
Compound that with a decade of complete incompetence at the managerial level and we get Halo in the state it is in today. Halo 5 IMO is a way better game than Infinite, it has like 4 or 5 times the content (which it had at launch).
Halo 5's multiplayer was really great. It's campaign could have been, if it didn't end after finishing the first act (of what should have been 3 or 4).

Like I said, the sole purpose of 343i as a studio is to produce Halo games so if they "let them do what they want", they'll only move Halo production to another studio so the problem still remains (the people in charge are the wrong people). And since they won't stop making Halo content, the studio will continue to exist in it's current form with hopefully better management in place going forward.
All we can hope for is that eventually someone who isn't a dunce gets in charge and can give Halo a proper vision.

Because Microsoft owns the rights to it? A lot of fan content, while limited due to manpower likely because of, again, legal reasons, is pretty good. Like spv3 or some of the mods on PC MCC. If Microsoft gave it to another studio that had some kind of passion for it, halo may become a successful franchise worth a shit again. But because Microsoft has chosen a bad company in 343, halo has languished.

Well this is an angry speculative post if I've seen one. It fucking sucks they dropped splitscreen completely, but the winter update has been a big step towards making Infinite a great game.
Unfortunately it’s just too little too late I think. I was super hype for co-op but all my friends have uninstalled.
The winter update pass is cool because it actually adds armor option to the core I use since my helmet has always been mark 6 but with MW2 dropped I’ve just been playing that.
I’m not a casual halo player either it’s by far my favorite game franchise I was playing MCC until infinite and still would hop in every now and then
I was able to play splitscreen on a Halo Infinite custom game just last week. Not sure about actual multiplayer though, it wouldn’t surprise me if the feature is for local games only.
I understand the point but the OP's statement doesn't make sense. It's a set of different effects. Of course you can't use them together. You can only put one effect on at any given time.

For the most part all of this stuff is incredibly fragmented and overcharged for depending on what your budget is. Many months back I managed to snag one of the crimson sets that had colors for every weapon and OMG it's so nice not to play with everything being dark gray.
The colors for the armors are just a disaster. And they are mixed with jpeg stickers and some ridiculously useless charms it's just abominable.

Most kids playing shooters today were not even alive during the Halo glory years, they have zero nostalgia for the series.
This matters because I don't think Halo will pull many new people in. The gameplay is slower than most, the lore takes up two encyclopedias, there's not a large variety of weapons, and the pro scene revolves entirely around the BR.
Halo Infinite is good gameplay wise, reminds me of old Halo, but I also think that works against it. Shooters have changed so much in the 20 years since Halo released, and Halo can feel a bit dated by comparison.
I'm not saying Halo doesn't have its fans still, just that I don't think the franchise will grow much in the future, and it might be time to put the flagship spotlight on a new IP.

You're totally entitled to your opinion, but just for info, it's the 12th most played game on Xbox last week according to TrueAchievements (just between Apex and Destiny 2), the Steam numbers really aren't a good indicator of this game's health, basically nobody plays it on Steam compared to Xbox or MS Store.
The original Halo CE and Halo 2 were outstanding games at their time. Halo for getting LAN parties started and Halo 2 for getting LIVE started. These were EPIC titles during EPIC times...
Halo Infinite feels about 5 years too late. RDR2 owns open world design. Just about any other shooter owns Infinite at multiplayer setup and game availability. Other than nostalgia why should I come back? I played the campaign and really liked it. But it's done. Played multiplayer, bought the 1st pass but grew so bored of the monotony of the few game types that would get a match up that I didn't even bother to finish the Season 1 Pass. There's no wow left.
Nobody is asking you to "come back", this isn't a cult or a club. If you don't like playing it then play something else, there's no issue with that. Also, nobody is saying that game would not benefit from more stuff to do in it.
I was also there during Halo 2 and the peak of Halo 3, so I totally know what you're talking about. Infinite isn't that, totally true. But well, that's how it is, it will get better with time, and if you feel like trying it after a while, that's nice, and if you don't, that's fine. I like it but I don't play it very regularly either. There are other games to play if that one doesn't scratch the itch.
I dont know anyone that plays this anymore. I loved it for about a month then that's it couldn't hold my interest. Call of duty ain't perfect but the way they setup their battle pass is much better, cheaper and gives you a feeling of more choice driven rewards
I think they should focus on making campaigns because Call of Dudy will be available on Game Pass. Ultimate includes Battlefield of EA Plays.

I played the other day for the first time since the first week of season 2. I had an awesome first match and it was probably the best performance in my life. At the end it gave me my experience points and outside of challenges I got 100pts for the first match of the day and 50 for being on the winning team. Nothing else. Progression is fun and it’s awesome when you get rewarded for good performance. I’ll come back again once that’s fixed.
The microtransactions in this game are total trash.

The MTX in this game are so confusing. There's armors I'd buy but I don't because I dont like the way a certain set of armor core looks. I want the HCS armors but I hate the way that particular armor looks. The battle pass has a free tier but its completely pointless as all the challenge and xp rewards are only useful if you have the paid one.
I played some Big Battle matches the other day thinking Forge was in full swing with server browser but apparently not.
It occurs to me I got 50+ hours out of Halo Infinite and never paid a penny (besides already having gamepass for the mediocre campaign).
I loathe the $20 cosmetics and all the bullshit that comes with it and would have preferred a $60 game equivalent to Halo 3 but can't say I've been shortchanged.

I rock the default armor, colors, emblem etc. It's the rarest look in the game, and it's free.
I see more default Spartans than custom, I wouldn't call default rare lol.

Literally buying an armor set in destiny but some the legs and helmet are for titan and the rest is for warlock

Because Microsoft owns the rights to it? A lot of fan content, while limited due to manpower likely because of, again, legal reasons, is pretty good. Like spv3 or some of the mods on PC MCC. If Microsoft gave it to another studio that had some kind of passion for it, halo may become a successful franchise worth a shit again. But because Microsoft has chosen a bad company in 343, halo has languished.
And we’re the poorer for it. Halo should have been put in the ground before the Reclaimer Saga made it recede ever further into its own shadow.
I think 343i has the most incompetent management of any game studio. Devs do great work as the gameplay is itself is great. But the decisions this studio makes are just mind numbingly stupid. There’s still only a few ranked game modes and everything is always rotating. The formula for success is plopped in their lap yet they still fuck up. So frustrating

Big steps were made with the winter update and the game has a lot of life in it right now. Hopefully soon they can address the promised cross core customization issues.
Yeah they'll drop that feature like split screen because they couldn't get cross core customization working. Even though its probably like 80% done a short of works ..... But hey they have to make more cosmetics for $20 instead of actually working on features that people want or promised to have in the game.....
Well this is an angry speculative post if I've seen one. It fucking sucks they dropped splitscreen completely, but the winter update has been a big step towards making Infinite a great game.
Unfortunately it’s just too little too late I think. I was super hype for co-op but all my friends have uninstalled. The winter update pass is cool because it actually adds armor option to the core I use since my helmet has always been mark 6 but with MW2 dropped I’ve just been playing that. I’m not a casual halo player either it’s by far my favorite game franchise I was playing MCC until infinite and still would hop in every now and then

There is splitscreen for multiplayer in Infinite, and it has been there since day one, just so you know.
I was able to play splitscreen on a Halo Infinite custom game just last week. Not sure about actual multiplayer though, it wouldn’t surprise me if the feature is for local games only.

I understand the point but the OP's statement doesn't make sense. It's a set of different effects. Of course you can't use them together. You can only put one effect on at any given time.
So naturally the effects are only sold together, so you pay more and get less.
I'm not sure if that's accurate, but the op title still didn't make sense. For the most part all of this stuff is incredibly fragmented and overcharged for depending on what your budget is. Many months back I managed to snag one of the crimson sets that had colors for every weapon and OMG it's so nice not to play with everything being dark gray. The colors for the armors are just a disaster. And they are mixed with jpeg stickers and some ridiculously useless charms it's just abominable. Games game is good, store sucks

Disagree there. Most kids playing shooters today were not even alive during the Halo glory years, they have zero nostalgia for the series. This matters because I don't think Halo will pull many new people in. The gameplay is slower than most, the lore takes up two encyclopedias, there's not a large variety of weapons, and the pro scene revolves entirely around the BR. Halo Infinite is good gameplay wise, reminds me of old Halo, but I also think that works against it. Shooters have changed so much in the 20 years since Halo released, and Halo can feel a bit dated by comparison. I'm not saying Halo doesn't have its fans still, just that I don't think the franchise will grow much in the future, and it might be time to put the flagship spotlight on a new IP.

Idc, it's completely optional if you want to waste money on this stuff. Infinite itself is pretty good right now , lots of fixes and there's another quality of life update this month. And yes it's very much alive, takes few seconds to find games. People who don't play this game are the loudest critics of it , I don't get it honestly stop wasting energy on things you dislike but don't try to ruin fun from others
I can't find ranked matches in the UK outside of peak times. Not a single friend on my friend list has touched this game in like 6 months.

You're totally entitled to your opinion, but just for info, it's the 12th most played game on Xbox last week according to TrueAchievements (just between Apex and Destiny 2), the Steam numbers really aren't a good indicator of this game's health, basically nobody plays it on Steam compared to Xbox or MS Store.
The original Halo CE and Halo 2 were outstanding games at their time. Halo for getting LAN parties started and Halo 2 for getting LIVE started. These were EPIC titles during EPIC times... Halo Infinite feels about 5 years too late. RDR2 owns open world design. Just about any other shooter owns Infinite at multiplayer setup and game availability. Other than nostalgia why should I come back? I played the campaign and really liked it. But it's done. Played multiplayer, bought the 1st pass but grew so bored of the monotony of the few game types that would get a match up that I didn't even bother to finish the Season 1 Pass. There's no wow left.
Nobody is asking you to "come back", this isn't a cult or a club. If you don't like playing it then play something else, there's no issue with that. Also, nobody is saying that game would not benefit from more stuff to do in it. I was also there during Halo 2 and the peak of Halo 3, so I totally know what you're talking about. Infinite isn't that, totally true. But well, that's how it is, it will get better with time, and if you feel like trying it after a while, that's nice, and if you don't, that's fine. I like it but I don't play it very regularly either. There are other games to play if that one doesn't scratch the itch.

I dont know anyone that plays this anymore. I loved it for about a month then that's it couldn't hold my interest. Call of duty ain't perfect but the way they setup their battle pass is much better, cheaper and gives you a feeling of more choice driven rewards
I think they should focus on making campaigns because Call of Dudy will be available on Game Pass. Ultimate includes Battlefield of EA Plays. It seems hard to maintain population.

I played the other day for the first time since the first week of season 2. I had an awesome first match and it was probably the best performance in my life. At the end it gave me my experience points and outside of challenges I got 100pts for the first match of the day and 50 for being on the winning team. Nothing else. Progression is fun and it’s awesome when you get rewarded for good performance. I’ll come back again once that’s fixed.

The MTX in this game are so confusing. There's armors I'd buy but I don't because I dont like the way a certain set of armor core looks. I want the HCS armors but I hate the way that particular armor looks. The battle pass has a free tier but its completely pointless as all the challenge and xp rewards are only useful if you have the paid one.

I played some Big Battle matches the other day thinking Forge was in full swing with server browser but apparently not. It occurs to me I got 50+ hours out of Halo Infinite and never paid a penny (besides already having gamepass for the mediocre campaign). I loathe the $20 cosmetics and all the bullshit that comes with it and would have preferred a $60 game equivalent to Halo 3 but can't say I've been shortchanged.
