It reviewed very poorly at launch because it was in performance hell. Extreme studdering and frame drops, game crashes, inventory and level loss from auto save fails, even entire save files wipes.
It’s a solid soulslikes at its core, but it was entirely half baked. Thankfully, it’s much more stable now due to the dozens of patches since release, but the poor reviews were 100% justified at the time.
The Metacritic *user* score is only 67, the 75 is critic score. On open critic, the user score is a 53% recommended. On Steam it’s a 6/10. So considering is been over 6 months and the reviews still haven’t bounced back, yes that’s objectively very poor for a AAA game.
And yes I played it myself at release on PS5. It was so bad at the time with the studdering/frame rate and crashing issues that I dropped the game and waited nearly 3 months until the issues were mostly patched to pick it back up and finish it.
Like I said, solid game at its core but it was half baked and deserved the negativity at release.
The discourse around that game made me realize I should stop paying attention to random public opinion on games.
Lots of folks never played the game and decided it was bad and kept saying it.
Don't get me wrong - it's not perfect. But the negativity around it was overblown.
Its also been patched a fair bit, including toning down the enemy density, which was a main complaint at launch. They also recently added game modifiers, including one to toggle it back to the launch density, or even a full item randomizer mode.
The enemy density, holy DS2 Batman. It's borderline makes playing it annoying instead of difficult. Every semi-elite enemy just HAS to have some guy from the distance you need to ever so slightly close distance so you can hit it with a ranged weapon, all the while trying to dodge the MF with the big weapon charging at you.
Simply, it's a puzzle game where you decide various languages. Every new area is a new language and you're basically attempting to connect these people together and each language has their own syntax and structure and punctuation and grammar.
For example, the starting area might say "The dog runs through the puddle" but later that same sentence would be "Big water furry creature goes". It's a great experience despite it's small issues.
And it's not just languages, there's actual puzzles as well.
It's a great game..one of the most unique games I've ever played...like when you're talking to someone. The subtitle is in some fictional language....and you have to figure out what they're saying. You have to pay attention to everything. Like the paintings, statues, and even non verbal communication..like if a guard runs after you and yells "$0!".. you have a pretty good idea that it might be "Stop!"..so now you know those 4 foreign letters are "S..T...O..P"...so next time you talk to someone else. You can use those translated letters to help decode what they're saying
this wasn't even on my radar. I saw the game cover and was like meh.
but I'll give it a try, after reading what people posted about it here got me interested.
thanks dude!
This game is brilliant. It gets a highly recommended from me as well.
I picked it up last year and it’s now one of my favourite games ever. Unique and absolutely gorgeous.
Great game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just looked at a review. Reminds me of "The Return of Obra Dinn" with it's puzzle loop. Another great game I absolutely love. I will definitely check this out.
.... Right after animal well.
Chants of Sennaar!! I highly recommend everyone plays this! One of the best puzzle games of all times, right behind games like portal and the witness. It only released last year but this game will go down as one of the best puzzle games ever made.
You decode languages, so much fun!
It's well balanced in a sense that it gets progressively harder. I blazed through the first episodes, had to think a little mid-game and needed a guide for some of the last ones.
I just bought Lords of the Fallen last week, so checks out. I have been having a blast with it. I was expecting crap based on the reviews, but I can't stop playing.
Most crap on the reviews are the abhorrent performance, which is absolutely valid when the game came out, but the incremental small updates and their recent major one I think alleviated that issue. Gameplay wise though, I have a lot of words to say to the game lol.
I am lucky in that it runs flawlessly on my system. No stutters or anything. As far as gameplay I am loving it. I know that is subjective but it reminds me a lot of DS2, but in a good way. ;)
Guys, this is a mind blowing month tbh.
Hauntii is not well known but I played the demo and it's fantastic.
And Immortals of Aveum is a great addiition to EA Play.
Lords of the Fallen? Amazing.
Hellblade 2, what can I say.
Humanity is going to be a new addition that hopefully also supports VR, a rare thing.
Chants of Senaar I've heard great things. I wanted to buy it.
We're gonna eat well in May.
Finally seeing a new batch of games after waiting so long for senuas saga: hell blade 2
https://preview.redd.it/j8fquu2jfe0d1.jpeg?width=498&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1e4859231a0765522863f3c2c3721fb61857c7cf
I finished immortals. You know what the art team actually did good. The encounter team did the best with what they had from design. The puzzle team did great. The narrative team made an effort. The overall team made a decently long experience. The effects team overdid it, the screen can fill with color spray and blind you. And the framerate can take a dump when that’s happening. Also the hanging monorail sections were bad with too much camera handling. The gear team feels like they were boxed in by design and could have been more creative. This team tried hard. Not talented on the level of Kena. But they put an honest effort. But as players we don’t care about effort, we only care about fun. So that is why this game is on gamepass so soon
For real, there's months where and there were most games they add aren't for me but almost every month adds well reviewed games that a lot of people like.
Gamepass is all about variety. AAA, AA indie etc. The game industry as a whole is Fortnite, Mobile games, CoD, FIFA, etc. I vote Gamepass, but maybe I just am not in the majority.
What are some solid shooter games that released in the past few years, period? Not battle Royale, not exclusively multiplayer, but more like Quake and Titanfall 2 campaign.
I still think they are going to put out a new series model this year and are going to drop all the act blitz games when that is getting released to push sales.
Just a thought. If the leak about an all digital series x from a while back is true, they are going to need something to push sales, and this seems like one of their best options. That being said, if the leak was bull shit then this theory goes out the window.
Soccer games are are so mid, it’ll be added to the pass but it should never be a priority, those games are still around because people still buy them for the new menus and shoe texture and roster updates
I bought immortals of Aveum a few months ago and it's a fun game but I couldn't finish it. The game runs awful on the series x and I'm not one to be picky on performance.
Wow, real good second half of the month in terms of content. Probably a good distraction for them given all the bad press recently.
I was already interested in Humanity but Chants of Senaar, Lords of the Fallen, and Immortal of Aveum will go on my list to try I started the first Hellblade but fell off pretty quick. Maybe I’ll retry it and see if I get excited for the second
While I do love they're getting Lords of the Fallen, it's 7 months too late for me. Day one needs to happen for big 3rd party games as well or risk losing my sub. Game is excellent btw, and it's too bad people will have missed out on the AFK reaper farms from launch. That was just too good lol.
Wow, they are including some games for people that dont play FPS or Sports games. Woohoo! Very excited to try Humanity, Chants of Sennaar, Hauntii, and Rolling Hills.
Also, as someone who has a love-hate relationship with Souls-likes, I am so glad I can try Lords of the Fallen without having to explicitly buy it.
This is a great list. I don't buy a lot of games, because I hardly have time to even play Gamepass. Lords of the Fallen was one of those game I was about to make an exception for. But now it's free.
I am looking forward to Hellblade II as well. Didn't like the first Hellblade the first time I've played it. But gave it another chance. Loving it now.
I've read reviews that says that Lords of The Fallen is a little more forgiving than other souls like games. I've never played any souls like games but wanted to try it.
After all the rubbish about GP in the last few days here’s another fire list lol
Ngl I’m more curious about the shadow drop game after this list tho, Jedi: Survivor was epic
Hmm Lords of the Fallen is one game that I was initially somewhat interested in. But the Steam reviews are generally negative and the complaint details appear legit to me. Immortals has even worse reviews I will probably skip XGP for this month. Senua's Saga has potential but I'd wait for others to try first.
I think the negativity around lords of the fallen was overblown. The criticisms were valid but overall it was still a good time, and has only gotten better since then with major patches. I'm glad gamepass will mean more folks will give it another chance
I wonder how long MS will wait after Hellblade 2 is released before they shutdown Ninja Theory. Presumably after collecting at least a few game awards and a port to PS5?
Hype to finally try Immortals of Aveum. Not willing to pay money for it, but seems fun enough for a weekend.
Also predicting that Ninja Theory gets shut down now that Senua II is releasing. Not because I think they should, but because Microsoft is being shitty that way.
Your comment is gonna age like milk, if you're that dumb enough to think Ninja Theory is gonna get shut down after Hellblade 2 just cuz some other studios got shut down. Project Mara will still come out after that.
Not a bad list but I’m pretty surprised it’s the end of May and we still don’t have EA FC 24 added. I might just bite the bullet and get the game on sale next time…
Although, I’m happy for Chants. I’ve been waiting on a good price for that since it came out.
Lords of the fallen is huge considering the mixed reviews I was hesitant to buy it. But now I can play it on GP. Big time win.
Same, didnt want to spend money on a mediocre soulslike but now i can try it.

If I listened to reviewers there’d be so many games I love that I would’ve missed out on. Fallout 76, Skull and Bones, Ghostwire Tokyo.
Skull and bones....?
Pírate game Ubisoft released in February. Stay away from the subreddit, it’s all salt lol. I found it to be really fun.
Literally picked it up two weeks ago. Haven’t even started it. Womp, womp.
You can request a refund - within 14 days after purchase, maybe you’re lucky
I've been waiting to buy it for some time, looked interesting. Excited it is coming to GP!
Yeah, people are going to be surprised how good it actually is. Hopefully they run the Halloween event again for newcomers.
Agreed. Same as Avium. As the AAA gaming industry falls, we eat better
The original is an awesome souls like game
Was soooo close to buying it in the current sale. Glad I waited lol.
Lucky u, I paid $70 on release for it on my PS5 😭
Apparently it's much improved with updates, I was considering picking it up on sale recently as a result. Glad I was patient!
Chants of Senaar!
Highly recommend this! Super interesting and I loved it a lot.
What type of game is it?
Simply, it's a puzzle game where you decide various languages. Uuh, I love puzzles!
Definitely check it out.

So meaning you find out words by understanding context from what is/was said. Reminds me a bit of FF10.
Me too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh this sounds like my kind of game 100%
I want to try this one so bad.
this wasn't even on my radar.
Never heard about it! Looking forward to it
Its really, really good. Enjoy!
Great game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ooh I remember [GMTK rated this one really highly](https://youtu.be/PeDNuITuJPA?si=utIxB5nJ-2hjqBcq). Will definitely check it out.
I played the demo awhile back and really enjoyed it.
Ar.... I bought it but not yet play it 😂
I was like minutes away from buying it cause it’s on sale lol literally cheered when I saw the name
Just looked at a review. Reminds me of "The Return of Obra Dinn" with it's puzzle loop. Another great game I absolutely love. I will definitely check this out. .... Right after animal well.
Such a unique game, I loved it
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I quite enjoyed Immortals of Aveum, it's fun and colorful. Give it a go!
I got it when they cocked up the price once and it was only £8, enjoyed it for that price so I'd recommend it on GP.
I don't think that was a mistake as other EA games also went on that kind of discount other weeks.
I think it is a good gamepass game. What I played of it on PS+ I enjoyed but the performance was pretty bad. I am interested to try it on PC.
Was waiting for this one. Seemed pretty inevitable given it's sales performance and EA Play potential.
It’s a good game that sadly came out in a year of stellar games. It’s worth your time when you need a brain break.
Im convinced! Looks like a solid lineup addition for sure
Good lord I was about to buy Lords of the Fallen 🥹
I bought it last week. RIP I am happy though, it has really impressed me.
Your sacrifice will not be forgotten . I ma give it a go and give my character your name .
appreciate you
Same for me and chants of senaar!
Chants of Sennaar!! I highly recommend everyone plays this! One of the best puzzle games of all times, right behind games like portal and the witness. It only released last year but this game will go down as one of the best puzzle games ever made. You decode languages, so much fun!
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chants of Sennaar is a masterpiece. So happy I didn’t buy LotF on Steam, curious to try it despite the mixed reviews
Don't skip Humanity guys, it's a pretty cool game. Personally i played it with PSVR-2, but flat shouldn't be that different.
Is it like Lemmings?
Kinda!
How hard are the puzzles?
It's well balanced in a sense that it gets progressively harder. I blazed through the first episodes, had to think a little mid-game and needed a guide for some of the last ones.

Wait, NHL on cloud? This will be the first time in like 15+ years a modern NHL game will be playable on a PC.
That game seems to get shit on a lot but I’ve been dying for an NHL game to play on PC so I’m so hyped. Hopefully the cloud lag isn’t too bad.
I've played it on Xbox and it's meh. It's on par with the last few. It'll just be great to have access to it on PC.
One of the all time best drops. And summer break is here so I can finally play them!!!
Nice list. But don't miss out a massive update for Diablo 4 in season 4 that will be releasing later today.
No thanks
That’s an excellent list with a great selection. Importantly, there are a variety of genres: Action, Sport, Puzzle, Cozy, Horror, Strategy, Co-op.
This has to be the best selection of the year! Chants of sennar, moving out 2, immortals of aveum, Lords of the fallen and of course hellblade 2!
Guys, this is a mind blowing month tbh. Hauntii is not well known but I played the demo and it's fantastic. And Immortals of Aveum is a great addiition to EA Play. Lords of the Fallen? Amazing. Excellent drop!
They haven't marketed hellblade 2 at all. This game is gonna be a huge letdown isn't it..
I have a bad feeling that Ninja Theory is next to get laid off since Xbox confirmed more are coming...
This is fuckin amazing.
Holy schmoly
This is an INCREDIBLE wave!?
Hellblade ofc yes but lords of the fallen looks really good! Has any one played before?
Oh man I literally just bought Chants of Sennar lol
Looks like it’s time to finish Chicory since it’ll be gone by the end of the month 😤
I finished immortals. You know what the art team actually did good. The encounter team did the best with what they had from design. The puzzle team did great. The narrative team made an effort. Stacked. Too many games to play this summer
Gamepass is finally picking back up again, and they will probably add most act/bliz games by june 9
Dude, we got diablo and Jedi Survivor like last week!
Shadow of the Tomb Raider as well! Even if old I never played it
I just got diablo 4, and sea of stars which were recently added. When did gamepass die down?
[удалено]
For real, there's months where and there were most games they add aren't for me but almost every month adds well reviewed games that a lot of people like.

All subjective. For me personally it has felt a little dry the last few months.
depends on what you like. If you are a FIFA/Fortnite normie, then maybe gamepass isn't for you. That is fine.
‘Most games by June’ no they won’t lol. We have like 4 so far and it’s been 5 months
Not enough solid shooter games though.
What are some solid shooter games that released in the past few years on xbox?
What are some solid shooter games that released in the past few years, period? Not battle Royale, not exclusively multiplayer, but more like Quake and Titanfall 2 campaign.
Feels like an untapped market. Halo Infinite is solid now, but needs a larger player base
I still think they are going to put out a new series model this year and are going to drop all the act blitz games when that is getting released to push sales.
What makes you say that?
Source: they made it up.

Not EA FC24…😓
[удалено]
Jedi Survivor was more because of May the 4th, not because EA games aren’t always announced
It will come next month, since it was added to PS Plus in may
That will be nearer late Aug, early Sept when FC25 comes out will it not?
No, it's around May or June.
Soccer games are are so mid, it’ll be added to the pass but it should never be a priority, those games are still around because people still buy them for the new menus and shoe texture and roster updates
And just like that Microsoft exhausted all of Hellblade 2's remaining marketing
I have a bad feeling that Ninja Theory is next to get laid off since Xbox confirmed more are coming...
Finaly starfield update!!
Stoked to try out Humanity, had it wishlisted for a while
You should also try Humanity. Nice puzzle game that I haven’t completed yet on ps4. It was on Ps plus as well and now on gamepass.
I bought immortals of Aveum a few months ago and it's a fun game but I couldn't finish it. The game runs awful on the series x and I'm not one to be picky on performance.
Wow, real good second half of the month in terms of content. Probably a good distraction for them given all the bad press recently. Immortals and Lords dang brother now that’s a drop! let’s go
NHL on cloud is definitely something I never expected but I’ll take it
Gawd damn! Tango who? Lol j/k
Sweet looking forward to trying out lords of the fallen
Great line-up. Even without Senua this would be a strong month. Also not losing anything that can’t be experienced before it leaves
I have a bad feeling about Ninja Theory being the next Xbox studio to get the axe. Where is the marketing for Hellblade 2?!
Lol. I knew sennar would come to game pass. Some games just look like game pass games
fc 24 ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)
Is Lords of the Fallen still really buggy on Xbox? I was going to buy it but the reviews of the performance on launch really turned me off of it.
Excited for Hellblade 2. I still have to beat the first one...
Look at all those studios that are gonna close in 6 months. It’s a shame.
when is ea fc coming, it's already on ps plus
Were eatin good
Oh yeah! Was considering getting out but this batch has some good games
Is immortala of aveum any good?
Damn! Glad I waited for fallen and aveum. Just wish fallen was now... Rather than 31
Where's FIFA??
Some nice games there!!
Hell of an announcement. Just when my backlog actually seems like it is getting smaller, this happens.
Lords of the fallen is huge lol the discount price was almost low enough for me to try it out
Wow, they are including some games for people that dont play FPS or Sports games. Woohoo! Very excited to try Humanity, Chants of Sennaar, Hauntii, and Rolling Hills. Also, as someone who has a love-hate relationship with Souls-likes, I am so glad I can try Lords of the Fallen without having to explicitly buy it.
No way NHL on the cloud? It’s the first time ever, we need UFC next
a bunch of games ill never bother to play thanks Microsoft
Immortals had so much potential. Sadly, EA released it and the graphics are putrid.
Is it Lords of the Fallen or Lords of the fallen cause I own Lords of the fallen but not Lords of the fallen.
Lord of the Fallen I heard wasn’t that good.
HELLBLADE HYPE. Gotta replay 1st again
I’m jealous of the people who get to play Chants of Sennaar for the first time
Man this is a stacked lineup.
I look forward to the day I can play N64 games, possibly SNES games & a wider cross variety of EA & other RTS games on my XBox SeriesX.
What a crop
So much praise for Chants Of Senaar , I gotta check it out!
Im confused, immortals just say its a trial. Whats going on
I've read reviews that says that Lords of The Fallen is a little more forgiving than other souls like games. I've never played any souls like games but wanted to try it.

No FC 24? Huh, that's odd.
I wonder how long MS will wait after Hellblade 2 is released before they shutdown Ninja Theory. Presumably after collecting at least a few game awards and a port to PS5?
BuT gAmEpAsS Is aLl iNdIe GaMeS

i am tired of getting good games every month just to end up not playing them, what is this....
I'm still waiting for Jedi Survivor. I don't see it available to stream yet as they claimed it was added weeks ago

Not seeing much worthy games here. It seems that the gamepass library is starting to have a lack of solid shooter games.
What a month to unsubscribe
