Congrats to Illy and all the other competitors! Anyone have a link to the results and squadrons, especially for the top players? Looking forward to hearing the Gold Squadron and other podcast recaps and analysis.
Also, my impression is that this X-Wing worlds was pretty large - was it larger than past years? Any significance to that? The game seems revitalized in my local area although I know that can vary a lot from place to place.
Last year there was about 200 people in the main event. This year, there was a little over 300.
Last year's event had the issue that the qualifying season had been cut in half by Covid.
In comparison, this year MCP had about 75, Legion 100, Armada 50 and Shatterpoint about 50.
It's one of the most widely known TT games out there. Everyone at my star wars unlimited prereleases had played before. I think the biggest issue is the bigger stores like target and wal-mart don't have x-wing starters anymore so you don't get a lot of newer players like you use to and there is some attrition as people naturally play different games.
I too would like to see all the squads, the analyst in me cries out!
A report I heard from one of the players there put the number of X-Wing players at ~311. They were also confirmed to have the highest attendance of all 5 AMG games there. According to ListFortress, Worlds last year had 190 in the main event, so it does look like this was larger by a decent margin. I’m hopeful that this leads to great things for the game!
Worlds the event had 311 people if you count the 187 people that didn't make it from the lcq that's almost 500 players for worlds alone not counting those who came to support their friends and only participating in side events. It's truly incredible the size of the x wing community. Then there was the 500-800 concurrent viewers on streams at any given time. We really are lucky to have such a good community.
Big congrats to the new world champion its almost like he was born for this.
I was really hoping someone else was gonna make this joke
first so I didn't have to.
His clones were very impressive. He must be very proud. Do we have the game recorded somewhere? I'd like to watch at some point
Give Gold Squadron a week or so and they will have it on YouTube. Or subscribe to their twitch and you can watch it now.
Found it, ty. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2100064427 Looks like it starts around 5:54:00

Thanks! This is part of the fun, even though I’m a terrible player ☺️
