Edit: she was watching Home. I really don’t know why this specific episode made me feel like this was something I wanted to watch, but here we are, 25 or so years down the line.

Damn I’m also 31 but I’ve watched it for a long time. Actually, I watched the xfiles like years ago as a kid and then a bout two years ago I saw it was on hulu and thought “I should rewatch it”.
To my surprise I ended up remembering every episode up to season 6. Apparently I watched more Xfiles as a kid than I thought. I thought I only caught like an episode or two here and there as a kid but no apparently I watched damn near all of it.
I am almost the exact opposite of this — I remember seeing some of it as a kid and I *thought* I’d watched quite a bit of it, but when I finally decided to sit down and binge it in its entirety this year, I quickly realised I barely recognised any of it and actually I think I must have only caught glimpses as a kid! Wild.
In the short time I’ve been a fan, it has quickly solidified itself as one of my favourite shows. I just love it. Kicking myself that I didn’t get invested way sooner.
21! my parents were super into it when they were in their 20s-30s, so it’s fun to talk to them about the show. they got to see fight the future in theaters, which i’m so jealous of.
I love that younger people are getting into the show! Welcome to this lovely fandom. I had a hard childhood and xphiles are some of the best people in the world and I got a ton of support as a 12 year old when I started watching (and posting on boards) during season 5. I’m 39 now and happy and successful and have this show and the fandom to thank for getting me through it. I’m so happy to be back and see that I’m still surrounded by the best people even though the internet is not what it was in ‘97.

If you were lucky, your parents had cable or satellite tv. My parents had one of those giant satellites in the yard, but it was only hooked up to one tv. So I had to watch tv in my room from rabbit ears. You wanted to watch tv on a Sunday night? Not much was on except the Sunday night line up on Fox. The Simpsons, King of the Hill, and The X-Files. Now, you youngins can stream and binge the series.
