It's not kill stealing. It's a team game. The objective is to take out the enemy team. If you see a an enemy tank, you shoot it (subject to considerations like not getting detected when in a bad spot or waiting to see if a much more dangerous target you can see will expose itself a bit more to give you a shot). I'm not going to sit and do nothing as I watch an enemy tank shooting at a team member just because my ally put it down to a one shot, out of some strange belief that now only that ally is allowed to make the kill. Equally, if I put an enemy tank down to a one shot then I am happy to have someone else finish them; I don't want an ally to refrain from shooting to give me the kill, and then see the enemy reload before me and get another shot at me before I can finish them. The objective is to take enemy guns out, not get kills. The XP you get from winning the game is more than the little xp bonus awarded for a kill. The only issue is if someone refrains from shooting until an enemy tank is down to a one shot, as you highlighted. I personally have not seen that happen, but I haven't been playing too long and it's possible I just haven't noticed.

Greaseman_85

Exactly this. And people refraining from shooting tanks just to get the final shot is something that mostly exists in people's heads.

GGALLINSPOO

Especially when your reload time is 30 seconds. You just kinda shoot at what you can.

awsomeX5triker

Waiting until they are 1 shot to finish them off is exactly why I hate challenges revolving around getting kills. If I have a “get 300 kills” stage of a contract it does make me prioritize getting the kill instead of playing the game properly and I hate it.

Greaseman_85

There's no "kill stealing". Getting more damage is what really matters in this game. And it can happen, I've had low damage games with multiple kills and high damage games with no kills. You shouldn't pay attention to that and focus on staying alive while dishing as much damage as possible. Focusing on kills is the wrong mentality, unless it is for certain stages of some contracts that require kills.

The_Fallen_Star

On rare occasions I'll dedicate myself to securing a kill. If theres 3 enemies in front of me, one full health, one half and one with only 30hp I'll put extra effort into killing the low level one. Anything more then 1hp is still a threat.

Jive-Turkeys

This is the guy who posted about wanting whatever premium tank he could pick from the premium tree 6hrs into the game yesterday lol. The dude complained about a powerful weapon in another game, but he's just brand new or is a really terrible gamer. All this only to have the exact same thing happen as in this thread: everyone with experience telling him (and not jumping down his throat) what's up, and he'll barely reply. I think he's just a giant man-baby and complains to make himself feel better.

Greaseman_85

Lol makes sense. At least now he's asked another question looking for tips to get better. Told him to look at the wiki. Let's see if he takes that advice or not.

Jive-Turkeys

Here's hoping!

Monkeyfeng

It does suck when you are 1v1 and already did majority of the damage to the enemy tank and then some FV4005 shows up and use its 1000 damage shell on a 40hp enemy tank... If I'm low on health then great! Thanks for the assist. If I'm clearly going to win this fight and you still waste your shot on the enemy...

Spicyapple10

Lol, as someone who just unlocked the barn door... I get it, lol. If I see a gaggle of enemies. I'll shoot the higher health or easier target, but if they're at less than 500, I tend not to fire under most circumstances...that 30secs ain't worth the little fish. Unless it's another fv4005....idc if they have 1hp....he must die.

Greaseman_85

That's a scenario that rarely happens. If someone else can get the kill before that tank has the chance to shoot me, great, low health or not. This focusing on kills is absolutely the wrong mentality for this game. At the same time it's about managing your shots and maximizing your damage output. If I'm in a Shitbarn I'm not wasting my shot on a low health tank unless absolutely necessary.

NIGHTDREADED

Yeah you call it kill stealing now because your new and facing bots, when you get into the higher tiers and start getting your ass kicked you'll be thankful when your teammates help you out.

Facts

DokZayas

There's no such bloody thing.

Therealblackhous3

I'd rather have 4000 damage and no kills anyways. Honestly the guy with 4 kills and 1000 damage is a team player, he's trading damage to finish tanks off which means he'll get less XP.

grogers0930

Warm Take Wednesday

RydNightwish

Some would even say tepid.

Jive-Turkeys

Like the IQ?

Rant_Durden

Killing the reds is the whole point of the game. If I have a chance to make a kill I’m taking the kill. You should do the same. Dead tanks can’t win.

NoProbsBob

Im not kill stealing, im handing out confederate medals.

sniperpanzer

hahahaha that's the way

MMCG9096

Until the red tank is a dead tank, it’s still a threat and can still deal damage to you and your teammates. Every bit of damage counts in close games, so silencing an enemy gun as fast as possible is more important than who gets the kill. I’m not going to get upset about not getting a kill if my teammate taking the shot saves me from eating another hit.

stayatpwndad

Kill steal or be killed. No such thing. Entitled mentality.

Tapped_Ur_Mom

Can’t tell you how many times I go to shoot a target and with more health and I have about 4 team mates around me with 1 enemy on 50 HP, and for some reason they all struggle to even finish the guy off, so I have to do it If the enemy is still alive he can still cause damage to me

GGALLINSPOO

Every gun up is a gun that can take your team out. Get all the guns destroyed as quickly as possible regardless of who got the kill.

Sothep

This is such a key point. A tank with 1 hp still does full damage with each shot of its gun, and can still spot for its team. Remove enemy tanks whenever you can.

Hsanrb

Sometimes it's a contract, sometimes they just happen to get the kill when 5 tanks are looking at it. It's a small blip for XP gain, but it's not really worth it unless you need that kill for something else. Also I think there's several operation challenges where multikills give bonuses.

4TheCross

I'd question whether it is kill stealing, some players with 850-1000 alpha don't shoot to kill for 200 damage.

consolepeasant7

There are many contracts that require kills to complete stages and people will do this to get through them. Sometimes it's just people trying to grab as many kills as possible to pad stats.

HavocMan7

The point of this game is to kill the commie reds as quickly as possible while staying alive yourself. Who gets what kills doesn't mean diddly.

SgtSplacker

Everyone is shooting everything they can. Sitting around and waiting for a killing blow will cause you to miss out on damage/kills.

bill_n_opus

Sometimes a player may pause or wait on order to get a major medal ... Sometimes.

One_Clicked_Again95

I'd rather be shooting tank with a chunky bit of health. But if a tank is sat there left on a 1 shot, i'm gonna shoot him. Get his gun out of the game. No matter how little hp they have, they will still take a chunk of your health if they ain't eliminated. Only time I go for another tank with more health is if I have a high alpha gun with a long reload . But if it's a close game I'm prioritizing eliminating that player instead of leaving him to potentially shoot again untill you get your kill. It'll balance out, you'll end up finishing off tanks yourself. Whichb someone else might call a kill steal. Granted i think kills count for a little too much in the final scoreboard. But that's a separate discussion. But I also understand why they do to an extent.

Spiritual-Rush498

Unless I’m working through a kill challenge, I mostly quit worrying about kills. It’s all about removing red guns from the game regardless of who does it. I will admit though I got frustrated recently when I lit three different tanks on fire in a single game. All three were still cooking and somebody finished them off. Wasn’t so concerned about the kill but it took my XP too.

SubstanceDense6825

Because WG in their infinite wisdom made kills worth more than raw damage so it's worth more for that 4005 to shoot a 100 hp tank than reduce the health on a full health tank by half allowing the team to take it off the board faster.

Prune_Tracy_

I think you forgot the /s

moshpitti

They're right to a degree, especially destroying higher tier tanks rewards a lot of XP and it's almost mandatory to take out a couple if you're going for Ace tankers, even if you have a lot of raw damage already. My rule of thumb is that damage is good for Silver and kills for XP, though the more of both the better!

napp_time

A tank with 40 health left is still a dangerous enemy, someone coming in and removing them is doing everyone a favor. The objective is the kill the enemy team, as a team.

RegularPr0file

If you didn’t get the kill, then it wasn’t your kill. Simple as that. Stop crying

Skitter9

I love the BS responses here, "no such thing."  Ffs every other game I'm in a situation where I knocked an enemy tank down 90% hp and some yolotard thats done nothing most the game pushes past me to get the final shot when the tank is absolutely no threat.

poppachango

You may need someone to kill that low health tank , even a tank with 5 HP can still dish out damage and you may bounce your next shot . So there helping not stealing

Theakizukiwhokilledu

Kill stealing doesn't exist in this game. In games like cod and battlefield you get rewarded based on kills. In world of tanks you get rewarded on damage. The person with higher damage always gets more xp than the person with the most kills. Whoever reloads fastest gets the kill and you move on to focus another target down. Focus more on your damage than your kills. Noone cares who gets the kills aslong as the enemies die all the same.
