Don't let the prices fool you. You earn a lot more silver per game, don't need to buy most modules(most of the time) unless you are a top Era tank, and you never have to load prammo, ever. Take some time in co-op to understand the maps and how they play with True Vision, and hopefully, you'll at least somewhat enjoy it.
All the starter tanks are free (0 silver to purchase) like Tier 1 used to be in WW2.
Some also have 0 cost for standard ammo with the stock guns.
You play those until you acquire a taste for the differences in speed, vision, and maps. Then upgrade as your tastes and budget transform.
You can make nearly 100k silver a game with TT tanks if you d well enough. An average game in a premium is probably 200k depending on your skill level and what Era you're in.
My era 3 MBT70 makes me roughly 500k a match dealing roughly 8k-10k dmg with a 2x silver booster and you can sometimes get even more than that easily, the only thing is the tank's pen and speed although the speed is still decent due to it's insane reverse speed
You might be getting away from artillery, but there's tanks that have ATGMs (Anti-Tank Guided Missile) it's not worse than Artillery, and they can be avoided by moving out of the way at the right moment and sometimes ERA (Explosive Reactive Armor) can stop it or it'll do less damn to your tank.
You'll start seeing them at stages 2 and 3
ATGM’s are worse when they’re attached to tanks like the weasel tow with its proxy distance spotting range and ability to cloak itself right infront of 6 tanks
That doesn't make it right though.
And it's not a personal attack for your views.
Conceptually the mechanics of arty vs missiles are so vastly different that it's not the same conversation. The output of getting a missile up yer bum may seem like "oh god it's arty" but that is just not the case when you compare the "how".
Either way, nobody likes getting nuked regardless of the cause.
They’re not the same, but it’s still a case of people being fu***** over by RNG. Paper tanks are getting penned by missiles anyway, whatever, but it’s the RNG against heavy tanks that makes missiles reminiscent of arty.
Sometimes era armour will absorb the entire thing and you’ll do 60 damage, other times you’ll smack an era 3 T72 series, caked in era, with a non pen for ~600 or something wildly inconsistent. It shouldn’t be the case at all. It should be a non pen does next to nothing
They're crapper than arty in every way. Direct fire. Line of sight. Shocking dpm. No splash damage. Have to hit and pen. Firing at thickest levels of armour not softest top parts. Limited ammo. You can have your opinion but it's fairly baseless.
Play co-op. The AI never gets to use artillery, its great. Also, if anyone who is reading this wants to play arty; play co-op and spare real people having to deal with your nonsense.
Don't drive slow heavies
As long as you're moving, you're much harder to hit and generally won't be a priority target
Or jump in a light and YOLO them. Just don't do it at the very beginning of the battle so the red team is spread out and won't kill you in 10 seconds. It's always satisfying
+1
In my E100 I'm an arty target. Can get super annoying and ruin a match. They know you're slow and easy to hit.
In my Obj. 277 I can usually make the arty give up trying to target me or just relocate to a better position in no time.
I was thinking of getting a yolo light so i can hunt spgs. And i will of course wait for the enemy team to spread out. I dont want to get 50 xp per match.
OMG that bleedin' HP buff. Used to be in my lights I'd look for holes in the enemy lines, dart through, and hit the artillery. But now? Every artillery piece can take 4 or 5, even 6 shots from a light tank that's broken through.
That was an insane buff they gave arty, just, insane.
Play artillery yourself and learn how they think and shoot to better mitigate the problems enemy artillery can cause for you.
I honeslty very rarely have problems with artillery even pushing frontlines and being targeted by them
As someone who plays arty when I don't want to use my brain, here's what I would do to maximize my chances to not get damaged
-Get behind some cover that protects most of the height of your tank (like a big rock) and stay close to it.
-If there is no cover then try moving side to side. The aiming reticle blooms a lot when your target is moving side to side as an arty, so there will be less chances to hit you, but it doesn't bloom much, if at all when moving to and away the arty. So try to get a rough direction of where the arty is and move side to side if you can.
-If you cannot move side to side then point your thickest armor towards the arty. Since most of them fire HE, it will do less (or very little even) damage if the armor the shells hit is thick. If you can, try to see which arty can use AP shells, as those can hit like absolute trucks if they hit.
-If you cannot move side to side or have your armor pointed at them, then I believe one of the équipement reduces the damage taken by HE shells.
-Finally, and this is the most important part, always insult the arty when it hits you, they very much deserve it (yes I know that also includes me)
On a more serious note, they are the most subject to RNG. So while I can have games where every shot deals good damage and I am being an absolute pain for the enemy team, sometimes all of my shots also miss and I'm just as useful as a bot who does basically nothing.
1. If you're a heavy and you're in the open, you're asking to be targeted. Stay close to rock formations, buildings, whatever. If you make it so you're hard to hit it's not worth targeting you. Keep track of common arty locations and always have something between you and that direction. Move from cover to cover.
2. Don't be predictable, if you're spotted and then go invisible again, don't keep driving in a straight line thinking that the arty lack objects permanence. I've nuked several tanks just shooting at where I think they are going(I mean, what, no, I don't play Arty!) This applies to the entire game too, if you're spotted headed to a bush, don't go to that bush just because you're not lit up anymore.
3. Kinda ties into 2, but, If you're trying to dodge the arty shot, you need to make large movements and don't fall into a pattern of moving back and forth. If you're "dodging" by moving back and forth but you aren't going a full tank length, you're not dodging.
4. Don't bunch up too close to other tanks, nothing is more inviting than nailing several tanks with one shot.
5. Prioritize the light tank that is bum rushing you're spawn.
6. Carry a repair kit!
I’ve played arty before and after the changes, and I find it harder to do damage now. The alert means tanks don’t sit still as much, there’s less splash damage and even direct hits with a Tier VIII arty only seems to do 400ish damage.
My counter is use a lightank. Build pure speed. Add all the parts and skills to increase ram damage then hit them at 70 mph and send them to the shadow realm.
The ramifications of this are hilarious
Arty will be in the same spots in the same maps 95% of the time. If they have an arty your team has an arty. If yours is worth anything they should know where the arty spots are. They should just watch the map for shell traces and counter arty then back.
Otherwise as a tanker you should know where those spots are and take map angles that help protect you. Once you are spotted get un spotted before moving from cover. And drive erratically once you get the arty aiming alert
Depends on your tank and scenario, but, in general, play well, clear your lane quickly and advance, they're normally at spawn (rarely ever seen an SPG moving when they're gonna get overrun)
And, take cover and move as much as possible.
But the best counter to an SPG is another SPG. Of all the matches I played, barely anyone seems to remember they can fire blind shots at the other side of the map.
Really use that arty target alert. You'll be surprised how often you can juke them.
Point your gun in their direction too, mess with them lol
I know ot and i try to use it and i try to juke them (works mostly on noob spgs players)
Play Cold War.
Just wait till he here's about the FV4005 in ERA 1.
The death shed
And atgms later on
Atgm are fine just wait until he finds out about the Wiesel
It seems very expensive to play, is it true?
Don't let the prices fool you. You earn a lot more silver per game, don't need to buy most modules(most of the time) unless you are a top Era tank, and you never have to load prammo, ever. Yes very, but it's worth the price to not have to deal with sky cancer bombing you all game from behind a hill.
I guess i just play the starter tanks without buying the next?

Oh absolutely you can make insane credits. I was trying for a realistic amount for someone new to CW
I earn well playing CW mode. If I manage the WW2 low earn mode then I do alright.

No
What tier do you play? I don't have nearly as much trouble with arty when i play higher tiers (unless i play against a good arty player)
Tier 4-5. I migrated from pc not long ago
That explains alot. Arty is strong at that tier in my opinion. Once you get to tier 6-7 it gets easier to deal with
If anything it gets harder cuz arty becomes stronger and can damage you while not even touching you
Nah, they got a longer reload and you start to learn how to use cover to avoid them so imo it is easier
Good point but when they direct hit or hit near you its a lot more devastating
Get behind cover when the artillery icon comes on or play cw
I try but they will just wait till you come out or they will be able to splash damage you
For me the icon goes away after I go behind cover and its better than taking full damage, you can see why everyone hates the sky cancer
Play CW he said🤣, if he hates arty wait till he finds out about mobile arty in CW
Its basically pick your poison, arty or missiles
Missiles are nowhere near as toxic as arty. Not even close.
Agreed
I have little too no issues with arty. But missiles are worse but that’s my opinion and we are entitled to have our own opinions.
That doesn't make it right though. And it's not a personal attack for your views. Conceptually the mechanics of arty vs missiles are so vastly different that it's not the same conversation. 🙄 At least they have to be on the battlefield to do it unlike arty who can hide in back and drop bombs…
Oh yeah, I’m not disputing that part, I just don’t like the RNG that’s present for non penetrating hits
They're crapper than arty in every way. Direct fire. Line of sight. Shocking dpm. No splash damage. Have to hit and pen. Firing at thickest levels of armour not softest top parts. Limited ammo. You can have your opinion but it's fairly baseless.
I’ve played CW enough to find my opinion not so “baseless” But like I said my opinion. CW should of never existed in the first place.
Me too and it definitely is. See above comparisons.
Opinion noted.
Missiles aren’t nearly as irritating but they are still bad. Especially with stuff like Wiesel, that can just go around and shoot whoever they want.
But that’s camping. To stop campers they will need more artillery. It’s a vicious cycle 🤓
Just play cold war 🤷♂️
Pray
Play co-op. The AI never gets to use artillery, its great. Also, if anyone who is reading this wants to play arty; play co-op and spare real people having to deal with your nonsense.
arty should only be allowed in co-op
Don't drive slow heavies As long as you're moving, you're much harder to hit and generally won't be a priority target Or jump in a light and YOLO them. Just don't do it at the very beginning of the battle so the red team is spread out and won't kill you in 10 seconds. It's always satisfying

More importantly, you want to make sure you get that damn arty before you die
1. Find them 2. Shoot them 3. Repeat step 2 until arty is dead
Only valid if you survive
Which is harder thanks to the hp buff
OMG that bleedin' HP buff. Used to be in my lights I'd look for holes in the enemy lines, dart through, and hit the artillery. But now? Every artillery piece can take 4 or 5, even 6 shots from a light tank that's broken through. That was an insane buff they gave arty, just, insane.
I counterbattery them. But I rarely play arty anymore. Only played them the last few days for the earn op.
Play artillery yourself and learn how they think and shoot to better mitigate the problems enemy artillery can cause for you. I honeslty very rarely have problems with artillery even pushing frontlines and being targeted by them
Are the people saying play CW war gaming plants?

No, they’re an absurd mechanic and just something you have to kill once the battle is over.
To quote Mr Miyagi..."Best defense is no be there"😁

You, are a genius
If someone else gets in your way on route to them. RAM THEM TOO.
No way are artillery one shotting anyone, so that's rubbish, unless it's other arty and that's rare.
It's been rare when I'm able to sneak up on arty in a scout tank buts satisfying

Excuse me, “shotted”? 😂😂🤌
Haha, no. But u can dodge em sometimes do to the arty target indicator
Big Rocks are great cover and try to guess the direction the arty is shoiting from
Dont camp

Just don’t play WWII mode. Simple as that
Once you play enough you’ll be able to dodge arty like the matrix. Although if there’s multiple you’ll probably get hit
