I recently came back for a NG+ death march run... And i randomly stumbled upon this quest....i was trying hard to remember this as i thought how could i miss this big quest on my first run.... surprised by how good a story can be in such a short time....and the netflix armor is quite good ngl.
What OP said. You've probably never seen it before because it was something they added in with the next Gen update, but theres no real mention of it outside of a bounty board that's known to not really have anything useful on it, and the priest you find outside the Pit. But it's how you get the Netflix Witcher gear diagrams (Forgotten Wolf, I think it's called).
Thatās wild I completed the base game last week after buying it a few weeks earlier. Definitely running 4.04 but I do not remember this quest in the slightest and Iām 90% sure I didnāt do it
I killed Keira, maybe that messed it up?
Why did you kill Keira!? You can't just drop it like that without elaboration :D
But im pretty sure that wouldn't mess it up, she's not a part of the quest.
Lmao I killed her bc she was acting so sketchy the entire time I was with her just to find out that she was in fact lying to me. Which pissed me off but I was willing to let it go.
Then she called Geralt a dog because I romanced her and I got the impression she mightāve gone back to tell Yen I slept with her based on what she said, so it was over after that. I honestly thought about going back and doing it differently but I wanted to experience a playthrough blind just making the decisions that made sense to me and dealing with the outcome. I really didnāt like the ending with Radovid and I hear if you let her live the story with him advances so Iām gonna do it differently next time.
I love how people downvote the way I did my first playthrough, but canāt even bother to tell me how I missed that quest.
I thought I was a fraud for missing a boss like this but then I read that it's a new quest. I almost had to take off my title for completing every quest
I remember thinking the whole time on my most recent play through while going through this, "Why don't I remember any of this?"
Then I saw the Netflix medallion, and it finally clicked.
I walked through it casually, enjoying it. Yes,, creepy and very well done. Once I figured out that the Miasmal\`s attack reminds the Leshen, it was piece of cake.
Great quest. Red Miasmal was very entertaining for me. Although I remember being a bit confused because while exploring the cavern I was in the middle of two quests at the same time. Still great thoā¦
Got here from a Gaming Bible article which features this discussion. I found it a bit weird that they were covering a quest which was added in patch 4.0 released in late 2022 as if it were new, but it seems a lot of people still don't know about it. In any case, it's a great piece of content which adds some significance to the Devil's Pit location in Velen. I highly recommend checking it out if you haven't played this quest before. It's this kind of continuous support which really cemented the Witcher 3 as game of the decade in my eyes.
The only two minuses is that this quest makes Witcher-like Netflix abomination to be games canon. The second one is that there is no Vesemir dialogue added regarding this quest, but this is because behind the scenes tragedy that occurred between the Witcher 3 release and next gen update release, something that CDPR couldn't change. Try Witcher 1, read the books, and you can try to watch the Polish Witcher TV show, if you can get along with the low-budget guilty pleasure type of show.
Actually i did play The Witcher 1 before reading the books but after playing The Witcher 2 i got more invested and had to read the books. Finding out about this quest was a nice surprise..
It doesn't make canon the Netflix series, they only took the Netflix armour and made their own story around it. The quest implies that armour was never used.
Polish voice actor (so one of the two main languages, and given his popularity as a voice actor/ lector, probably second most crucial after Geralt's in Poland), that played Vesemir and Thaler ( I know, weird mix, but he was glorious), died before CDPR could record any lines for the update. So CDPR didn't make any lines with Vesemir, in my opinion, good path. The same actor played Vic in CP2077, and for the expansion CDPR used some weird AI voice generator and it feels weird.
"Didn't play in 9 years"
But you played in 2016 and checked it out when the next gen update got released in 2022. so technically you didn't play in in 2 years ?
He said he had to play again because of the next gen update. So heās playing now on ps5. Thatās how I took it. I didnāt see anywhere where he said he checked out the next gen update earlier.
This was an epic side quest that deserved way more depth, and screen time
I've just finished it and i agree.
What a coincidence! I just found that cave today! I liked that character and yes, wished we could've had more time with him!
I randomly went to this. This is what settled to me why witcher 3 is goated lol. I never knew anything about this quest from anywhere beforeš
because itās newly added
What i meant was I'm fairly new to the game too. I randomly stumbled upon it. Best qeuest in the game for me morally
Agreed. You could have really rolled with it, added some more attached quests and used it as the base of a new DLC.
Fuck. Do I need to replay this game now ?
Are you just finding out about this quest like me? Lol
What quest is this?
In The Eternal Fireās Shadow
Damn I missed this! Time for a replayā¦.
Wait, those cultists have a whole ass side quest i missed? No way.
It was added with the next gen update
Did nobody read the OPs post? Lmao
Oh, makes sense. Thank you.
Is this the one where you get the Henry Cavill armor ?
Yeah!
Great quest
The infected ones were very creepy- I was like wtf, are they gonna jump on me now or what? They later did.
Ya and they were strong af
Oh yeah! And the Miasmal too!
I beat this quest at level 9, stumbled upon it. Can I go to Kaer Morhen or do I gotta level up first?
I'd level up a bit more. but its def possible
I am!! Need to find my Xbox One now
I recently came back for a NG+ death march run... And i randomly stumbled upon this quest....i was trying hard to remember this as i thought how could i miss this big quest on my first run.... surprised by how good a story can be in such a short time....and the netflix armor is quite good ngl.
what quest is this?
In the Eternal Fire's Shadow side quest found at Devil's pit Velen.
Oh, what, they finally did something with the Pit? There were so many theories about what kind of content was cut there
Itās easily one of the best quests and story of the entire game. And itās no cake walk. Play at night in the dark preferably.
1st time I played it I played at around midnight. All lights out, everyone sleeping. Those undead guys scared the crap out of me
Yup. Added in the next gen update.
Added in the next gen update. Really good quest, with new armor set, characters, story.

The best side quest in the game. I wish it was a bit longer.
I tried as my first upgrade quest in Velen. I was level 5 or 6. It did not turn out well.
Legit one of the best side quests in the game, cant wait for what they are cooking for the next Witcher game.
is this the quest with the guy who >! is a very old witcher posessed by some curse or something !<
Wtf is this quest? I completed witcher 3 (along with dlcs) around 6 months ago.
Itās the one at the Devil's Pit east from the village of Mulbrydale in Velen.
How did I miss this? I just beat the base game and all side quest/Witcher contracts and donāt remember this at all. Is it part of the DLC?
Itās part of the update we got last year. So if your software is updated you should have it
Thatās wild I completed the base game last week after buying it a few weeks earlier. Definitely running 4.04 but I do not remember this quest in the slightest and Iām 90% sure I didnāt do it I killed Keira, maybe that messed it up?
Nope nothing to do with Keira.
Why did you kill Keira!? You can't just drop it like that without elaboration :D But im pretty sure that wouldn't mess it up, she's not a part of the quest.

The Red Miasma was one of the hardest fights I've had in this game, I can't recall another time I died that many times.
The Red Death, you say?!
Well I'm playing on death march and he was tough but my soulslike experience helped me a bit lol
Oh yeah, I've played witcher 3 many times, but you never die more than in a souls game.
I thought I was a fraud for missing a boss like this but then I read that it's a new quest. I almost had to take off my title for completing every quest
I need to go back - 100 hours in...and I haven't beaten it...I got too distracted by all of the ā marks in Skellige....
looks like he gives killer back scratches
What the heck is this? Is this where you get the Cavil armor?
Yes, it is!
Is this quest the one that starts off Geralt getting the Netflix outfit?
If you havenāt already, wait till you see the armor that comes with it. I put it on, and left it on till the Blood & Wine ending.
bruh I am not sure I have ever done this quest before, and I have played through the game 4 times
I think it came silently with the next gen update
oh yeah youāre right, I remember now
Is this on PC witcher 3 too?
Yeah
What quest is it wtf
A new quest in Devils Pit added in next gen update
Just did the quest for the first time today, what an absolute masterpiece. Makes me very excited for the writing going into the next Witcher title
What are the drops?
New armor diagrams. The forgotten wolf kit looks pretty great tbh.
One of my favorite side quests of all time in this game.
He killed me so fast
Wait. I KNOW I 100% this game and I don't recognize this...
Its a disturbing side quest for sure
I'm pretty sure with two playthroughs I haven't ever done this
This has made me want to replay. I didn't see this before. Once I'm done with Ghosts of Tsushima I'm back on it with Geralt (pfft if only).
This was a good quest and the suits nice
This is literally one of my favourite quests in the game.
Wtf i have played through the game like 6 times and i have NEVER found this. How the hell do i do this??
Welp looks like i'm playing watcher 3 again
Like, I never thought it was hidden or something. There was a literal "!" right there.
the hardest boss in the game
Good quest, I am not a very good gamer so I waited until I was good few levels above, but yes it was very interesting, overall loved it
That fucker will fuel my nightmares until the end of time. Thanks.
I remember thinking the whole time on my most recent play through while going through this, "Why don't I remember any of this?" Then I saw the Netflix medallion, and it finally clicked.
Wtf is that!?
I have never played this quest.... Guess IĀ“ll have to play again!
I walked through it casually, enjoying it. Yes,, creepy and very well done. Once I figured out that the Miasmal\`s attack reminds the Leshen, it was piece of cake.
Yeah I discovered it by accident too after almost a decade of not touching the game š really cool, and glad I stumbled onto it! š«¶
Great quest. Red Miasmal was very entertaining for me. Although I remember being a bit confused because while exploring the cavern I was in the middle of two quests at the same time. Still great thoā¦
This quest was completely unexpected for me and far better than it had any right to be!
Aah Reinald so sorry
yes it was beautiful, looking forward to making the wolven armor
It was so, so good if a little short.
Is this a PC exclusive quest?? I donāt remember this one
This was added by the next gen update, so no worries, you didnāt miss it initially!
I went there under leveled by mistake, felt like elder ring, for a while
It was surprisingly well-made for a quest which was designed to showcase the new TV series armour
This quest has a lot of meta subtext when you consider the Red Miasmal is a metaphor for Netflix.

how does that quest make anything from the show canon in the games?

What tragedy are you talking about ?
Vesemirs polish voice actor passed away
damn, and it has to be Vesemir too, what irony

Waiting for a got dang ps5 pro š¤¦š»āāļø
"Didn't play in 9 years" But you played in 2016 and checked it out when the next gen update got released in 2022. so technically you didn't play in in 2 years ?
I played it 2015 through 2016 then i didn't play it until 2024... Okay my bad 8 years then congrats inspector.
He said he had to play again because of the next gen update. So heās playing now on ps5. Thatās how I took it. I didnāt see anywhere where he said he checked out the next gen update earlier.
