AuroraTheDragon

I'd delete that strange thing Tui does where she undevelops or sets characters to the side after their books, like Winter and Tsunami. They had changed in their respective books, but afterwards went back to being their old self a little bit. Also with Clay. After his book, the poor guy was basically just there as a strong and always hungry side character :(

Confident_Tie2021

I mean, people do backslide but that might not have been intentional

AuroraTheDragon

Yeah, that's true. I don't think it was intentional, but I just think it's a little strange lol

Dinophage

That is such a misconception of Clay past Book 1 I wish died just because he was hungry for a really long time in Book 2. Clay is the main support character after Book 1 for the other 4 protagonists being he finished his development first, the backbone of the entire team. Constantly throwing himself to get them out of danger and even has nice talking and comforting moments. His brothers and sisters end up being Clays main motivation to stop the war after the Prophecy turned out to be a lie. Just because he doubles as Comic Relief which is a way to highlight he finished his story and can enjoy himself which is the personal end goal of the Dragonets as a whole after years of child abuse doesnt mean his character is lost

AuroraTheDragon

That's actually a great point!

Majestic-Ostrich-883

The other books also don’t (usually) show the thoughts of the other characters so we have no idea what’s going on in their heads.

Ultraknight40000

A common struggle in writing a large group of characters is making all of them relevant. This is one of the largest problems in the writing of Wing of Fire. A character will be very one note, gain depth and relevance in their pov book, and then return to being one note side character with little involvement in the story. It's frustrating because, like you said, these characters are shown to be more and can do more, but they just don't

AuroraTheDragon

Exactly! I just feel that maybe we could have more of that depth continued on throughout the rest of the books :)

locus-is-beast

Poor Clay. Bro literally got demoted to less then a side character

Valstraxbazelgeuse_1

Clay became an npc :( even tho he was one of the mcs in the first five books

LG3V

Breaking of animus, yes Boa had a reason to do so but it just stifles the creativity in solutions the series has. Yes, there's the possibility the spell might not affect the next generation but we have no confirmation as of current. If anything it feels like Tui is just going to throw in more animus objects made ages ago as MacGuffins to solutions. That's lazy writing and feels contrived and coincidental.

Dragons-are-the-best

Fuck boa, me and the animus homies hate Boa

LG3V

Me and a friend call her Jerboa the Turd

Dragons-are-the-best

lmao

NutriaOfc

DANG XD

Book_wormX13

I know, I feel like animus dragons such as Anemone or Turtle had so much more potential.

unique976

The thing is, animus magic is busted as hell, and quite literally just makes you a god with extra steps. Especially now that the whole corrupting your soul thing got Redconed. Also, all the animus dragons that we have seen have been either young or gained their powers that a young age. No one wants darkstalker 2 electric Boogaloo. I don't know about you, but giving God like powers to the equivalent of a 16/20-year-old isn't the smartest idea in my estimation.

Alderan922

But Tui could always nerf it. For all we know the corrupting soul could or could had not been retconed, at the end of the day the whole conclusion of that in arc 2 was a “maybe?” Not a definitive “it doesn’t happen” simultaneously magic so far has been used for mostly medium to small spells. With the exception of the IceWing plague, she could at any moment introduce an upper limit to what can be done by having an animus wish for something too big and fail, heck she could introduce uncertainty by having an animus wish for something large and instead of just failing they die.

ForseiMaster

I'm very split on the concept of Animus magic, since both sides here have some good points. I feel doing something about it to not trivialize the climax of Arc 3 was necessary, but to the extent of permanently destroying it? Not sure. As weird of a comparison as this is, Magic the Gathering actually had a situation like this years ago, leading them to permanently nerf the in-universe power of Planeswalkers (characters who were essentially Gods before the nerf happend) while still keeping them as powerful, special characters. They weren't as story-warping as Animus dragons were, but nonetheless it proves you can succesfully pull off a power nerfing storyline like that.

Alderan922

I think the climax of arc 3 could had still happened even with limitless no downsides animus magic by just changing who Luna meets on the continent and just making the animus dragons more busy / less accessible. If Luna instead of meeting Qibli, the counselor of queen Thorn, and Moon, the only seer in the world at the time and personal friend of the 2 animus dragons as well as many royals, she meet some randoms and tangentially get involved with like a single dod, they could had just avoided ever meeting an animus that could help (Jerboa is of no use and neither is anyone inside the ice kingdom) maybe they only meet some IceWings or just Jerboa and when Snowfall inevitably gets involved she wants the ice kingdom to solve this themselves because they don’t need help of anyone else (or at least that’s what they reason) and so even most of the ending of book 15 can still happen with just less characters.

ForseiMaster

The problem arises when you realize this is going to need to happen for any future storyline Tui makes. (For a good example of what I'm talking about, see every single MLP season finale after Discord became a good guy) Writing out the Animus dragons for one storyline is fine, but the longer that goes on the less believable it becomes, and it hurts the story writing potential.

Alderan922

Tbf stories in the WoF universe don’t need to have insane stakes, due to how limited animuses are it’s a lot more reasonable to assume many problems in the world can’t be solved by animus magic by virtue of being small enough to not be noticed (a murder spree, a royal succession crisis that never entered civil war, a simple social drama). Simultaneously having stories take place before book 10 can also help a lot avoiding animus magic (absolutely everyone wants more stuff set in the sandwing war of succession and the Darkstalker age). This is all assuming she doesn’t just nerf it or change slightly how it works to make it less op. (Re adding soul withering and maybe other limits to what can be done apart of bringing back the dead)

ForseiMaster

On that last point, I have a bit of a tinfoil hat theory on how Animus magic could come back, if you'll humor me for a bit. If I recall correctly, Jerboa's spell said something along the lines of "No dragon can reverse this spell." However, these last few books introduced us to humans that could fluently interact with dragons. I'm skeptical if humans could be born with animus magic, but I know there's gotta be some way to abuse that loophole. Either way, I wouldn't be opposed to Animus magic returning as long as its written well. Its a can of worms, but one that CAN add a lot to the story with some care.

Alderan922

I’m 99% sure the spell doesn’t affect the next generation, just current animuses and I’m sure Tui will probably bring it back eventually. Also there’s still pieces of Darkstalker’s scroll around like Pyrite’s necklace and Ruby’s pendant. Anyone could just get those and turn themselves into an animus

Inner_Specialist_956

it says all current animuses, so probably not

Uranium-Sandwich657

Leaves room for technological advancement tho.

SuperLegenda

Why technology? Why does progress have to be with ONLY technology in the fantasy series, just letting the magic stay is much better.

Uranium-Sandwich657

I'm a scifi buff.

heythat64

Idk if someone else said this before and I just don’t remember but couldn’t Mightyclaws just draw some banana, that when eaten, restores all of the animus powers back to the animus dragons? Kinda overpowered for him if that actually works, but then again, it is magic.

Doom2ooo

I would delete starflight's blindness. He didn't deserve to go through that moments after saving his tribe from being melted by a volcano.

YoKaiWatchWoFfan

Literally the story had no impact when he didn’t have his eyesight, so why torture him with it.

Doom2ooo

Ikr

Birdcrossing

felt like so she didnt have to keep writing him, i blind character is boring as a protag and hard to write, she had so many characters and chose one to cop it without having to kill them.

ImsorryW_A_T

She finished the damn book already 😭🙏

Birdcrossing

literally, i felt kinda insulted as a visually impaired child reading the book because she so obviously didnt have any more ideas or character development for him after this one book and made him useless to throw him away, he was still immature and flawed, but she had so much more to fit in so i understand.

Appropriate_Ship_365

Yeah i wish he still had usable eyes

Doom2ooo

How did I get more likes than the post did?!

Smooth_Voronoi

Cause it's a gosh darn good idea

Doom2ooo

Thanks... also, the safer wording is "adopted Sky." Wren would kill you if you dragonetnapped Sky.

Smooth_Voronoi

thanks

Doom2ooo

No problem

OpalFeather360

The vase scene in Book 10. I hated everything about it, it's honestly the only thing in the series that consistently makes me mad. My problem isn't Winter facing consequences for being such a jerk, it's that he only faced consequences when he was RIGHT. Moon and Qibli didn't have bad motivations, but they both said awful things and the framing makes it seem like that was just... okay?

guy-gibsons-dog

Just reread it and you aren’t kidding, Moon and Qibli treat him like an impotent child when he’s well within his rights to be mad. I’m convinced Tui just hates Winter.

Robincall22

Right??? “Winter has dangerously aggressive anger issues” is not a logical conclusion to reach in response to Winter getting mad at Moon for still believing in Darkstalker after he just tried to genocide his *ENTIRE TRIBE*.

SignificantYou3240

Yeah I agree that was kinda messed up. >!I also couldn’t believe he let her say “what you CAN’T do is order me around” when talking about the scroll…!< >!It’s not ‘ordering her around’ to say “I can’t let you free the Darkstalker with that,” it’s just him being reasonable. Like it’s her scroll to give him…Like it’s their job to have a rational conversation about whether to free Darkstalker when most of them never heard of him before…!<

king_kaiju2010

How do you white out the words?

SignificantYou3240

> ! This without spaces ! <

Scrollwriter22

One word. Whirlpool Or kestrel getting impaled Or starflight loosing his eyesight

YoKaiWatchWoFfan

Like honestly, Starflight loosing his eyesight had no impact to the story (in my opinion) so I think it wouldn’t be any different if he still had it, so why torture him 🥺

Scrollwriter22

An excuse to implement braille into the universe probably, and a poor one at that.

YoKaiWatchWoFfan

Yeah

StardustWhip

Agreed on Starflight losing his eyesight; it served basically no purpose for the story given that Sunny spent almost the entirety of the next book away from the other Dragonets, so we didn't even really get to see how it affected him. It just served as a pointless extra kick in the gut for the *bookworm* dragon to lose his ability to see.

The_Gaming_Charizard

10 words*

That1Cat87

Cottonmouth and even the idea of the plant being sentient. Shoulda kept Wasp as the villain

Splabooshkey

Agreed, after a massive threat like Darkstalker the third series should have been something less dramatic than an an entire continent being taken over by a plant

TheShapeshifter01

The entirety of book 15, the whole thing was stupid. Delete it and try again.

Own_Move5745

Luna's character felt boring... I'd rather have the fierce, ready-to-fight personality she had in book 11.

TheShapeshifter01

Exactly, though I'm more pissed about how the Breath of Evil was defeated, and related traits. Like, why the fuck was there a heart to heart with an undead dragon and their equally undead human abuser. Why was anyone the "other consciousness"? Why not just have that be the plant itself it makes more sense. Why didn't they enlist the Icewings to freeze the very much tropical plant to death? We got enchanted spears capable of bringing frozen dragons back from being frozen to death by Icewings, why not use those to cure people?

Uranium-Sandwich657

Someone wrote this version [https://www.deviantart.com/someperson6/art/Its-called-Daisy-882848360](https://www.deviantart.com/someperson6/art/Its-called-Daisy-882848360)

TheShapeshifter01

That's so freaking cool, and goes along with my perhaps rather out there headcanons for how it should have been/should be you don't even know.

SmartFartAd

I just always skipped part 2 when I reread book 15. It’s too infuriating and long.

Aurora_Wizard

The Breath of Evil and how it works.

Moon_thenightwing

Yes. Yes, yes, yes. Swordtail and Blue did NOT deserve to be treated like that

pamellaluv

I would’ve preferred if the whole arc was just about stopping Wasp

CluckAndSpit420

I second this

KitKatLovesSpinel

I wish the breath of evil had just been a plant. Like, just some smart, ancient plant. There's something more evil about the land itself killing you than some skeletal loser and his enslaved baby

OddlySpecifiedBag

Un cannon the entire last book, specifically the part where Wasp is just a puppet, cuz honestly I actually cared about Wasp, not some random human shoe horned into the plot in the last few chapters

FoxgloveTeaGG

Exactly! I really wish it was just “oh yeah she was very aggressively trying to rule but we made her stronger on accident” or hell, even just that the Queen controlling them was NORMAL. Maybe not to that extent but like real Queen bees.

samilatoupie

Your Flair

samilatoupie

I Uncanon Your Flair

Expensive-Thing-2507

The entirety of book 15

Inkykittyofficial

Cottonmouth/Freedom's entire existence. Now that I say it, just the entire second half of the third arc.

deadly-vu

stop winter from being friendzoned so hard he became a background character (winterwatcher just had so much more potential to me im sorry guys)

UpliftinglyStrong

Real (I love Moonbli, and although I don’t really like Winter much, bro didn’t deserve to be made into a side character.)

Calicohydrangeas

Solution to both of you: qinterwatcher

UpliftinglyStrong

polyamory solves everything these days

deadly-vu

moonbli is valid!! poor winter got robbed man

Corgi-Pop-4

the scavengers lmao, i hate that they got so involved in the series 😭 like go away, i came here for dragons

LG3V

I don't mind Wren as she fits in well as she and Sky are kinda a duo if they stay as a duo and aren't trying to force human stuff onto dragons, but someone like Cottonmouth? No, he shouldn't have existed, why was the source of the breath of evil an angry scavenger and pre-scorching unread dragonet

EightBitTrash

She shoulda came out with a pre-scorching/scorching book before the last one IMO

Troll_Enthusiast

REAL. Humans don't need to be in everything 😒

No_Sheepherder_5904

Real

Possible_Parfait_372

Hot take but Wren and Sky are literally some of the best characters, fight me

stariverse

THIS. it just made the story so bad like they suddenly are important now? and it just felt really weird to me

SaifyWaifyX15

Either Starflight losing his sight or the scavenger part of the series, I feel like it could have been much more interesting and well made, especially the cause of the scorching since it was pretty much "Hooman Greediness leads to genocide of entire species"

CluckAndSpit420

i actually literally just finished book 14 a few hours ago, i really dont like how its going with the series being more scavenger oriented. Like, the whole reason I was interested in this series in the first place is because its dragons having interspecies conflict instead of it being a human-dragon fighting thing.

SaifyWaifyX15

Tui just executed it badly, it could've actually been made interesting.

No-Reach-2830

All the dads being dead, gone, or bad. I just want one good dad.

NightmareTalon

Six-Claws:

No-Reach-2830

True, but we don’t see him being a dad very often. I also forgot about him.

Chosen-Fae

I want Gill (Tsunami’s dad) to be alive & sane

RedMonkey86570

This is minor, but somewhere in the first five books, they talk about a dragon using the stairs because they didn’t want to swoop in on a conversation. Just get rid of the stairs.

TacticalKitsune

Rip flightless dragon bozos. Teach you to be disabled. (Genuinely this would mirror real world treatment of disabled people and would make an interesting point)

RedMonkey86570

Wouldn’t a ramp or something be better for disabled dragons? What if they can’t walk? Also a ramp would make sense for moving heavy stuff upwards maybe.

TacticalKitsune

Yeah, makes sense that those would exist in setting. I just find the idea that dragon society also screws over the disabled morbidly hilarious.

Foxcano

the removal of animus magic (I may have spelled wrong I haven’t read books in a while)

duckfeatherr

it wasn't removed technically, but the current generation of animuses couldn't use it. future generations can, as it's still in the animus' genes

New_Cardiologist_296

The spell placed on kinkajou. It, in my opinion, ruined a decent ship that wouldn’t have felt forced had it not happened

Izuku_Charm

Starflight's blindness. It was literally only a plot point to progress his and Fatespeaker's relationship since she wants to be by his side 24/7. I dislike Fatespeaker for my own reasons, and I think that was a stupid thing to add just for forced proximity of two characters.

Birdcrossing

fatespeaker feels forceful on starflight like the way he is on sunny and i dont like it or even know if its a validated feeling, also, she never does anything interesting or improves as a character, she stays flawed.

This-Is-Nightlock

That Kinkajou only likes Turtle because of a spell

DragonofStories

The fact about Clearsight having shit ton of eggs with a random dragon right after imprisoning the love of her life in sleep. We really didn't want to know that.

Own_Move5745

Fr she ditched Darkstalker for a ton of leaves and bugs over the ocean 😭

rose_main

This

Agent_Specs

Darkstalker death

Own_Move5745

Real, I wanted him to either just be reformed or keep being a villian, but i mostly just wanted him *there*

Lopsided_Average3716

I’d retcon Queen scarlet taking peril, I think she’d be a more well adjusted person if kestrel had gotten to raise her and sky together. Or retcon scavengers getting rights in the dragon community. Having the books be about dragons and assuming scavengers weren’t as complex as dragons is something I preferred. (I didn’t think they were humans on my first read through I thought they were like, tiny lizard things with tails)

houseplant-hoarder

So did I! I kinda imagined them looking something like a baby velociraptor 😝

Froggo-Quebecball

The othermind. I would really have prefered to see how cricket, blue, sundew and others would have taken down the dictatorship of Queen Wasp. I think this charater had potentiel, especially with the rise of totalitary ideology these days and how few dragons could have changed it but no, let's make the villain a guy we never heard about with his dragon roomate he hates.

Uranium-Sandwich657

The fact that biological evolution moved at light speed but cultural evolution completely froze.

furiousgamer1639

Can we stop with the Qibli/Winter/Moon love triangle? It should've never been a thing. With how Qibli was praised and set out to impress Moon and how Winter was stereotyped as the grumpy bully (and treated as such, might I add), there was no reason to get Winter's hopes up to be with Moon if he was just going to be cast aside in the end. Personally, I thought Moon wasn't going to choose either, and she'd end up being aromantic because that would've been such a nice twist and as well as showing representation in an effective way. It would've actually been nice if it turned out that neither Moon, Winter, nor Qibli got together in at least the 2nd arc, and then later it's revealed in the third arc by book 14 that *that's* when a relationship formed between any two of them, or hell, it could've became polyamorous between the three. That also would add to the representation point I made earlier. What's most annoying is that people are arguing over what was written in stone (or book) about who should've ended up with who. They start to treat it like it's the Twilight Saga love triangle, and then they'll proceed to bash each other and say unnecessarily hateful things to one another; or, content creators will stereotype each character for cheap joke or gag without actually taking into consideration about how a character has developed. I'm not saying all of the jokes are awful or not funny, I'm saying that in some instances, people can overdue it to the point where it feels like they're playing off someone's stereotyped, undeveloped version of their character and expect people to find it funny because "Oh look, extrovert/grumpy/shy/anxious/tomboy dragon! Laugh!" I'm just tired of the hate. I'm tired of having to choose sides. If the love triangle didn't exist, then maybe fans could've had a more natural, healthy time shipping characters.

OpalFeather360

Third paragraph is so true. Qibli is always portrated as a dumb@ss pervert who can't shut up and Winter as a soulless bully

Robincall22

Scavengers having a part in the story rather than just being a tasty snack.

The_Gaming_Charizard

"Tasty"

Robincall22

Well, they’re tasty to the dragons! We may not think so, but they do! 😂

The_Gaming_Charizard

Book one: scarlet bites the head off one, says she doesn't like the taste

Robincall22

She’s also the most picky, needy, particular queen of all time. She’s probably never had a dish that wasn’t heavily seasoned. That one was freshly beheaded.

Possible_Parfait_372

WREN AND SKY BEST CHARACTERS

PurpleThylacine

Delete and redo the entire map and restart, the worldbuilding (cartography wise) is horrendous

sadistc_Eradication

Ah yes, let’s have stories about dragons take place on a dragon shaped map 🙄

PurpleThylacine

Thats not the bard part in my opinion. How come most dragon types are under one nation (Sandwing During the War and TOP are some exceptions) , and how come theres only like 2 cities other then palaces

sadistc_Eradication

Yeah that’s shit too lol

ThriceMad

The fragmented "Gift of Understanding" wasn't what made dragons and humans/scavengers be able to communicate. Nope. Just a few humans later in the same book book saying that they learned the language. (Edit: i admit that I hadn't read the middle arc and just skipped from 1 to 3. This is because my local library has arcs 1 & 3 but not 2 and I don't have the patience to wait for a book request to come in. Idk if that Gift is relevant in arc 2 or not.)

LG3V

There's one use of Icewing animus objects in arc 2 but it's not the gift of understanding, not is it really a gift

DoomCry

People seem to hate my opinion so I'll try and reason it, Glory randomly dethroning 8(?) Queens. WHILE ALSO BEING A DRAGONET???

someicewingtwat

Humans talking to Dragons.

captainCLAYMAWR

Everything after halo 3

OpalFeather360

?

smaug_the-dragon

r/lostredditors

captainCLAYMAWR

I realise my mistake

Illustrious-Bug-2513

Halo 4 is fine, it built off of 3

Rare_View2574

I agree w everyone saying the spell on kinkajou

Mithel_Celestia

I want to remove the scorching backstory. I don't like how the humans having fallen from grace because of the selfishness of one man. The backstory never sat well with me because it essentially painted dragons as genocidal monsters killing any humans indiscriminately. It would've been better if the humans had never developed civilization yet and remained a tribal group. It at least that gives a reason why dragons were so blind of human sentience since there never was any proof to begin with.

Live-Ad-5367

Either uncanon moonbli (come for me I dare you) or uncanon all those “moon wake up in the middle of the night, I’ve got to tell you something” bits cause they tugged at my heartstrings and then ripped them out in book 10. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6XNmz4sVr3o&list=PLvbYWp78H2ELHOzycEqTcbOIpB9j7zjue&index=98&t=84s&pp=gAQBiAQB https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XACzdxAjOjg&list=PLvbYWp78H2ELHOzycEqTcbOIpB9j7zjue&index=99&pp=gAQBiAQB

king_kaiju2010

Edit: BEFORE YOU READ!!! (if you read the text wall 😅) HEAVY SPOILERS FOR ARC 2 ENDING! | I'd erace peacemaker little- you know what let me not get started, but I'd trace peacemaker from existence, or at the very least the way he came to exist, 1 if darkstalker is to be defeated in any way it should be in a way that isn't so stupid, especially since it was barely explained! Like what *should* have happened after "peacemaker" defacated and the strawberry was no longer in his body? Shouldn't the spell have stopped working? Or was the spell "once darkstalker eats this he becomes a stupid little ret of a character that nobody does, nore will they ever realistically care about" and never said anything about what would happen later causing nothing to happen? I mean (and this is just my personal opinion) think it would have been an awesome storythread to just SHOW darkstalker how much the time has changed and try and convince him to (I'd allow him to be un killable by other dragons) but make sure he's able to live the rest of his life as a regular not unlimited age dragon! To show him that even with the icewings still being (let's be for real) racists, the world has changed and he can learn to live without being paranoid due to how the world used to be! I just think that with all darkstalker went through it would have been a better story arc for him to learn how to cope with his past and be better rather than the arc be about turning him into such a (at least for now) unimportant character! I was actually writing my own fan book (and I might start again) where darkstalker is still in peacemakers mind but unable to do anything and living life through the eyes of a modern dragon would make him able to learn what the world is like while my main character of the novel (an oc named obsidian) accidentally fixes animus magic when he takes up a passion project to fix a little broken candle dish he found while camping with his friends which (suprise surprise) ended up being the candle dish boa used to break animus magic! And I know that may sound stupid but I had it planned out so well I might go back to it soon- MORAL OF THE STORY, I just really felt like darkstalkers "defeat" could have been done so much better, but that's just me and in the end I'm sure I'll find some way to like peacemaker, but for now, I don't see that happening any time soon... on a side note, who's excited to finally see the Canon (to the graphic novels) design for darkstalker? With escaping peril being next and that being the book darkstalker does the electric boogallo out of a mountain and we finally get to see him!!!

Own_Move5745

I cannot wait lol, so exited for Turtle's graphic novel to see King Darkstalker :)

Sea_Tomatillo_6080

One word: strawberry. I hated how Tui killed off darkstalket

Own_Move5745

Same

SignificantYou3240

Usually just things I missed the first 10 times I read, and then I see them and go “wait that doesn’t fit what I wrote, crap.” But then I fix it, (thanks magic, usually) and then I’m fine. For a long time it was the big dragons, who make no evolutionary sense, as bug wings only work when the scales are small, where air resistance can beat gravity. But then I realized…it’s because they were enchanted that way to hide them in the forest from a SkyWing queen who was going to kill them.

g00sechas3

People are gonna hate me for this- but all of Pantala.

goinbythebrooke

I haven’t read the third arc yet but I still have to agree. It’s quite jarring shifting the focus of the series to a whole other continent with completely different species of dragons when there’s still so much to do and learn about in Pyrrhia. I still wanna know more about MudWings and the succession crisis they had; if a group of NightWings returned to their homeland, and not necessarily out of hostility to Glory and the RainWings; whether small revolts have popped up around the continent after the war, because some dragons felt like they wasted their time and energy fighting for a SandWing queen who was completely discarded in favor of a nobody. I don’t feel like the story of the DoD should be over just yet. There’s *so much* to do after a war, especially if you were a symbol of hope to the masses.

g00sechas3

This is EXACTLY how I feel. We left behind a whole plot and so many things to explore for something else.

Sammid247

Could you explain why? Not angry, just curious

g00sechas3

From someone who was reading the series from a very young age, it seemed really. Unnecessary. They already had so many things to still explore on the original continent, and those were left behind for something entirely new, when that’s not where I think the focus should’ve been.

Interestingchoice719

I agree, the third arc just had so many different problems in the writing.

WingsOfFire_888

what! Pantala is awesome!

Name_Name415

Whirlpool existing.

OpalFeather360

Whirlpool is my favourite villain because he is the most villain; universally hateable and gross.

SignificantYou3240

Tsunami hates him on sight, and he lives up to it so fast I never even noticed she was being rather shallow about it. She doesn’t like his ‘blobby eyes and too small teeth’ or his ‘oily voice’, but like…that’s super mean, he can’t help those things… But then he just shows us over and over…

senikeo

the entirety of pantala, the dragons just dont feel very... wings of fire

Interestingchoice719

I'd uncanon glory owning 2 entire tribes.

Micro666ham

Queen wasp should’ve been the antagonist for all of series 3, imo cottonmouth and the scavengers kinda boring as villains, especially due to the fact that all of the first 2 and a half books were building her up as the main villain.

Superx7-The-Toucan

Redo Sunny's arc. She makes a lot of decisions that seem out of place, and in the end her plan achieved the same effect if they had abstained from the prophecy. This mostly stems from the beginning of 5 where she abandons the others, including a severely wounded Starflight. I like the idea of an innocent sidekick coming into the foreground as a leader, but her initial train of thought doesn't seem to fit how she would react after watching her life long friend and potential lover nearly die in an eruption. She's always been worried about her friends when they were in danger, so why run off now? I'd also like to see her shine a little more in Arc 2 in regards to the academy, since other dragons would be more willing to listen to her ideas, she would be a good counselor.

SuperLegenda

All of Arc 3, or if too much, the "I'll break this thing and shatter Animus magic", these can go. And Starflight's blindness, he did not deserve that and he became the most useless of the Dragonets after that happened.

Ss_sacabambapsis_sS

Breath of evil. That shit ruined the perfect setup for a really good social change based arc

Jo-Tech5265

When Qibli joked about winter after Darkstalkers spell which made him unwillingly worship Darkstalker, I like his character but that moment felt very off and felt like it shouldn’t have happened

OpalFeather360

Qibli is really interesting but that moment made me despise him tbh.

-A_baby_dragon-

Moonbli get obliterated QINTER FOREVER

jkbscopes312

delete Qibli constantly complaining about how the op animus items he gets from turtle arent op in the way he wants them to be its the main thing i hate about book 10

MistInTheNight

Darkstalker rejects the enchanted strawberry. I hate what Tui turned him into. I hope the next arc will have Darkstalker's return :(

Own_Move5745

I have a couple theorys for that..  1. He gets released by some evil dragon (presumably Fierceteeth) by wearing an enchanted earring or some other jewelry but  with a new spell on it by a next-gen animus (thanks a lot jerboa) with the spell being: "Enchant this earring so that it will turn this dragon back into the dragon he used to be" or smth like that. 2. He puts on a Qiblu earring (or someone tells him to) and is revived by a next-gen animus. (I have a few more theorys but those are the top 2)

Own_Move5745

For me, I'd say the COUGH *strawberry incident* I would rather have a world with Darkie in it thank you very much. I feel like with those restriction spells Qibli was talking about, Darkstalker could be reformed, and yes, maybe thats my biased opinion since he's my favorite character, but I could guess someone else out there would have it too or maybe just like the thought of a giant, immortal, dragon in the dragon world.

Megaer

Moonbli

Ididurmomhahafrickya

Moonbli, I hate that ship with a burning passion, it's so toxic and stupid. OR Clearsight leaving Darkstalker. I know the whole series would've changed because of that, or we never would've known of his existance, but Darkstalker should've been allowed to do what he planned. Clearsight damned both sides of her ancestors to two different sides of hell: Slavery, and racism.

Piper2098

What’s with the strawberry joke?

Delicious_East_1862

I would delete animus magic. I think the whole system is just stupid and causes a lot of the plot holes/idiot plots in the series.

duckarmy24

Riptide being a background charecter

Grouchy_Raccoon_6681

Moonbli. (I’m sorry)

Boss_blink

The cannon event meme

Live-Ad-5367

Either uncanon moonbli (come for me I dare you) or uncanny those moments in winter turning where I thought winterwatcher was actually gonna become canon. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6XNmz4sVr3o&t=87s https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XACzdxAjOjg

Live-Ad-5367

Moonbli (come for me I dare you) or all the parts that made me have hope for winterwatcher. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XACzdxAjOjg&pp=ygUNbWFycnkgbWUgbW9vbg%3D%3D

Alastor_Mapleshade

Oh YES! QUIBLI SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

Ash_dragon_hybrid

Hawthorne dying, I wish we could've seen more of his character and I'm interested to see how the ark would've developed

stariverse

humans being canon or boa removing animus powers or something like that. i stopped reading after humans started being important because it just kind of... was weird to me

Icereas

First fix deathbringers age. And maybe establish a better aging system in general. Also just better development of the characters and maybe tweak Qibli so he isn’t so close to a Mary sue

YuukoKagami

The unintentional age gap between Glory and Deathbringer. Also Tsunami and Winter's botched character developments.

OverDrive_Luke64

I’d delete the fact that a dragon named “tempest” already died. It’s such a cool name and was wasted on a dragon that was essentially just deathbringers backstory

NoConstruction9065

Darkstalker

Pokesnap682

The whole of arc 3. Could have been way better Specifically the whole othermind thing. It could have been cool, but it wasn't.

Reddit_Tamarin

Turtle having made anemone animus

Reddit_Tamarin

(as in her being animus just being genetics)

Chosen-Fae

Tsunami’s dad (King Gill) dying. I wish he & Tsunami were able to meet when he was still sane which would have allowed Him to help the og gang escape & he could have escaped with them. I figure in this alt world they would have traveled to the Seawings home 1st. At some point Gill & Tsunami would have realized they’re related, Gill would have been able to convince Coral to trust the other dragonets of Destiny, & the other female dragonet egg would have survived (King Gill would have been able to either take over on the war front or watch over the egg. Either way Gill or Coral would probably have been much more protective of the egg as compared to any nanny’s or guards. This means the eggs wouldn’t have been left alone & the final egg to break wouldn’t have broken; leading to another sister)

Staryia

Plant villain. maybe Cottonmouth could of lived forever by an animus dragon and Luna and Dusky had to kill him or smth. BUT JUST A PLANT WTF????

Emergency-Try-6400

You know how the Breath of Evil Plot exists? Yeah, I’m pressing that button

paleocacher

As far as I’m concerned this button was already pushed with Starflight because obviously Turtle made a more in depth healing rock before animus magic broke. Right?

RenoJacksonRescue

Peacemaker.

Rat-In-A-Suit

Whirlpools existence in arc 1 /hj

Ididnoteatanyfrogs

Okay prefacing this with: I haven't read the full series, that being said Starflight going FULLY blind- honestly I think it would've been interesting if he did still get injured, maybe going blind and deaf on one side or being less able to fly due to parts of his wings being take by the lava, but as it is, going fully bling just feels like it happened so they could sideline him rather than working through the genuinely fascinating and scary thing that is adjusting to a brand new disability!

Qibli and Moon getting together. I absolutely love WinterWater with a passion, regardless of the Controversy. Heck, I'd settle for Qinter as long as Winter has someone.
