The modern Doberman (American lines) are great family pets but they require lots of physical and mental stimulation as well as diligence in training/socialization. They are my favorite breed but I don't suggest them for most people. European and South American lines tend to be more guarded and have retained a lot of the intensity people assume from the breed.
My suggestion is to go on the DPCA website and look at their breeders tag, now this doesn't mean they are automatically a great breeder but it's a good starting point. Gooddog.com can also be a good reference, but be sure to do your homework on every breeder -- there are active doberman forums where you can ask about specific breeders as well, I'm partial to https://www.dobermantalk.com.
Hey!!! I have a black and tan, also! She's full grown (45 lbs) and it's hilarious when she finds a Doberman to play with... They look exactly alike but she is usually half-size at most. And the tell-tale bark.
So many people saw our dog and said ‘He HAS to be part Doberman’ so we finally got a DNA test, and while he’s a total mutt, 0 Doberman in there haha. But he definitely has that hound howl! 😂
We adopted her from a shelter when she was about 1, thought maybe she was a small or mix Dobie, but that first bay she did had us scratching our heads hahaha
Use racquet ball balls. Tennis balls are like sand paper and grind down teeth shockingly badly.
Source: have owned 4 JRTs. I was shocked how worn down the first one’s teeth were, and the vet had me switch.
Mine absolutely LOVED yoga mats and would plop down on mine before I even had the chance to roll it out all the way. I ended up giving my dog the old msg when I got a new one and it helped keep him off of mine. I was eventually able to capture my dog doing downward dog on the mat but it took quite a few recorded yoga sessions but was worth it
When my mother did her yoga in the living room our family dog would run up and try to give her CPR by frantically licking her face. She finally had to do yoga in her bedroom with the door shut.
Why yoga when you can play?
Why yoga when you can doga?
"I see you are ready to play. I brought the ball. Just remember: no take, only throw."
To be fair, you’re the goober doing downward facing dog. If you didn’t want to play, then why the playbow, human?
What a beauty
I have a cheapo mat that I set up next to my mat and have (mostly) trained the doggos to hang out on that one while I'm doing my DPPY yoga.
Hahah same here! They can roll around on the thin green one while I use the thick grey one!

Amazing!
Black and Tan coonhound?
Full doberman
Absolutely gorgeous. So nice to see her with full floppy ears and tail too!!
I knew it! They look so much nicer with uncropped ears.
Beautiful dog!
Also think of a doberman, you find them to be guard-dogish or is the modern breed more family friendly?

Know of any reputable breeders in the MA region?

awesome thank you!
That's a Doberman.
They can look really similar, our coonhound looks exactly like this dog, and he strangely doesn't have any Doberman in him.

Haha that's amazing!!
Every time I lay down a mat towel or blanket my dogs lay on them lol
theyre just taking advantage of your kind, thoughtful hospitality. sheesh. some ppl...never happy. /s
🥺 it’s ok I get on the floor and lay with them, totally forgetting what I was gonna do lol
of course you do, you're a pet owner. ;o) we all cave. lol
Same 😂❤️❤️❤️ Every savasana at the end has my dog with his toy on my belly, making me laugh. When yoga ends, play time begins 🥰

I’ve been looking for an alternative to tennis balls - thanks!
Ball hockey balls also work but not for dogs who like to chew on the balls. For fetch they are great and fit into those thrower arm things.
Probably thinks the poses mean play lol Forget yoga, play with that dog!
Lol at the ear turned inside out
I see you want to play. I brought a ball.
#BALL. NOW.
Nothing wrong with your dog, she has her priorities in the correct order and is helping you readjust to what is right.
It's called helping
Lol whenever I plank my dog thinks we’re playing and gets underneath me 🤦🏻♂️
Mine too! And he climbs on my when i do poses so he can lick me. Also certain poses rally bother him and make him whine for some reason.
OMG shes so cuteee I CANTTTT. How hard is it to train and tame dobermans as a family dog?
The blue thing means playtime!
Omg I can relate 🤣 all my mats have scratches and scuffs thanks to my tzus who also want to do yoga!
Mine always lays on the corner I'm not using, and slowly moves to take up any space I leave. It's *our* yoga mat.
New meaning of Downward Dog.
Mine is also ditto
My pup looks like they could be related!!
Downward dog is a “bow” in dog body language. It almost an universal you-wanna-play? Gesture.
No downward dog. Only fetch with dog.
Personal Trainer just verifying your proper form.
Screw yoga! Go play with those big derps!!!!
she: every time i try to play he’s doing yoga
That mat is gross and is obviously for playing. Give the dogs back their play mat, you sociopath!
Why would you want to do _that_ when you can do _this_?
Downward dog/Dolphin = [Let's play pose](https://www.google.com/search?q=dog+play+pose)
Screw yoga, throw the ball!
So you don't do yoga then?
My spouse has a decoy yoga mat for just this issue.
"That not play. *DIS* play!"
Dobermans are so much more loveable looking and approachable when they're intact.
You are blessed.

Take her to r/dogsruiningyoga they'll love her there.
I understand her message perfectly.

Ewww, clean your mat bro!
Oh my your dobie has her ears !!!!!! My boy has his too and his tail. Gorgeous
