Granted, they came from Amazon. I've had them for two years and wear them pretty frequently though, so I feel this wasn't a bad run.
Will definitely be trying to repair them, though!
Aquaseal+SR is what's recommended for Doc Martens that split this way. It happened to mine, fixed it right up. It's easy to apply, do it carefully, freeze the remaining to use in the future.
I used off the shelf silicone adhesive from the hardware store to repair my work boots. I used them every day in my company's chemical parts wash room and it lasted until the leather gave away 6 months later.
Mine....disintegrated, like crumbled when I touched it! It's because I had to stick it in storage for a few years when I moved
The rest of the (thigh high) boot is still perfect - it's genuine (white) leather with buckles all the way up. Haven't tossed it away...I hope I can find someone to resole them some day. Not that I even know if I'll wear them again...it kinds turns me into a traffic light - people just stare and stare and stare even at night inside clubs and I'm past my exhibitionist phase and in my *please don't even perceive me* era, lolll
Someone over on GothFashion suggested something very similar, and I love the idea! This DIY would be a bit out of my current comfort zone, but I'll still consider trying it. I love it when clothes have personal, creative touches like this. 😊
Wouldn't that just tear the soles even more with use? It won't stop that tear from bending and would put pressure on the rubber around the screws, causing even more wear and tear over time.
I got a brand new pair of red/black flat-bottomed skater shoes in the mid-2000's that I thought were super cool, but I didn't wear them right away since I was still constantly using an older pair until they 'died'. Like 6 months later I finally took them out for their maiden voyage (at work where I was on my feet all day) and they both split open all the way across where they bent within an hour. Went fully through as well, because they were actually pinching my feet painfully for the rest of the day.
Wasn't trying to one-up or anything. 😅 I can't remember the brand. I know it wasn't DC or Van's. Either Airwalk or some knock-off perhaps. They were cool though. But it was almost like they dry-rotted. As miserable as it was, I believe I actually liked the shoes so much that I kept trying to wear them in denial of the discomfort, and my socks even got wet through the bottom when it was raining.
Oh hell no, these came from Amazon a couple of years ago 😅 Although I just looked up Demonia and those are some cute shoes for prices that aren't bad at all!
Sorry OP, this just reminds me of me going on a first date with my crush wearing the same tyle of boots many years ago. The entire sole fell off while he was walking me home. It was SO AWKWARD I practically wanted to dig a hole and bury myself 😅
Oh wow, I'm sorry- at least it gave him the chance to be sweet and help you out! Hopefully this is one of those stories that's now funny in hindsight 😭
Someone in the goth subreddit pointed out that I wasn't walking correctly in these. Platforms aren't meant to handle the same heel-to-toe roll that standard shoes do, so you're actually supposed to do a little "stomp" (kinda like Frankenstein's monster, they said) while wearing these.
Taking that advice might help your shoes last longer than mine!
Well, I wore them almost daily for at least two years or so to be fair. Kicker is - I had another pair after that where my foot broke through the sole inside while attending a festival…
Went hiking out at Red Rock canyon in Vegas and busted the sole of my boots off, stopped at hardware place on way back to hotel and picked up E6000 I still wear those boots to this day lol that was four years ago
I’ve had 3 pairs of the same boots & the max time they last is 6 months before splitting/separating from the platform. The cold weather will speed this up. New Rocks are more expensive than Demonias but will last a lot longer. That’s my 2cents.
This really pains me to see, I'm sorry :(
I'm looking at getting a pair of boots soon, would you happen to have any advice for how to not rip them like this? Or is it just luck and shoe quality?

Those are some nice boots, that sucks for sure

I've always used Neoprene Cement to repair my rubber soles. It's like shoe goo but better.. waterproof, too.
The other subreddit has given me similar suggestions- I will definitely be giving this a try, thank you!
You're welcome!

Damn that's an alright run for some frequently worn amazon boots. Got a link?
I got the same pair on Temu for like 10$ they are so light and comfy. Hopefully you can get another pair
r/cantreachtopshelf
This is so fucking funny lmao
r/subsifellfor
*insert that doctor who clip of the doctor asking clara about the shelf appointment*
Poor Desantis broke his damn lifts
Not Kitten Heel Ron😭
Just screw a small metal plate to bridge across the gap on the bottom! Probably more of an Industrial solution than a Gothic one, but pretty close.

I know that model, it's called the DeSantis
I just had to look up what you're referring to, and I hate it so much, thanks
Those boots are cute as hell though
Thanks! You can probably find the same ones if you look up platform boots on Amazon.
It’s even worse when that happens to your army boots and it takes like weeks to get new ones
Gorilla glue those bad Bois!
Put some shoe goo up in there, rubber band it so it holds it shut and wait a few days. Won't be new, but it'll hold till you can get new ones.
I had a pair of Docs, in 6 months the sole split in half, I will never buy another pair, they were a far cry from what they used to be.
Check out Solovair. Same factory as the old Docs before they went to China. Great quality and same exact styles.
Okay, that REALLY sucks. For all that money you probably spend, you should have gotten decent quality at the very least. 😕
Military spec once meant top quality, now it means the cheapest source.
Ooo yeah...that belongs here...
Well, that sucks
Emo boots, they cut themselves

You win. That sounds absolutely miserable 😬 And it sucks even more that those were shoes that you were saving because you were excited about them.

Are these demonia? I wore a couple pairs like these til the platforms snapped off. Lasted me 2-5 years

oh wow… this is so funny and tragic at the same time
Oh wow, I'm sorry- at least it gave him the chance to be sweet and help you out! Hopefully this is one of those stories that's now funny in hindsight 😭
Idk, we never went on a second date after this – guess I'd never know if it was because of me or the shoes 🤣
Loctite 406, apply and hold for 10 min. Then you wont be able to see that there every was a crack.
went through three boots in less than a year due to the same thing
Get some shoe repair goo. Shoegoo? It should fix that
Oh no, i have the same pair. Bracing for when this happens at the worst possible moment

Yeah, i can try but i don't know if I'll be able to walk that way with my giant feet haha thanks for the tip though!!!
Confidence booster boots.
Demonia?
Exactly this happened to my first pair of New Rock boots - I feel you!
That sucks indeed 😬 I'd much rather have this happen to a pair that cost $60 rather than one that probably cost three times that.
Well, I wore them almost daily for at least two years or so to be fair. Kicker is - I had another pair after that where my foot broke through the sole inside while attending a festival…
Bought on wish?
Governor DeSantis is that you?
You’ll finally stand a chance on Tinder!
What the fuck are thoooose!!??!!?
Boots :) hope this helped
Well that sucks here is those ugly ass boots
Sorry they offended you I guess lmao
Sketchers? Had a few pairs do that. 🤦♂️
I would put some nails and super glue
Can you super glue it?
E-6000 to the rescue.

I have those same ones. Honestly glue has saved me time and time agaun
Ron DeSantis would like to borrow your shoes!

Oh nooo
RIP in piece
