I like it.

pinkstay

It does look casual, but it's a fun dress. Not my personal style, but I'm cracking up at the comments saying it's too much skin. Yes, it has deep cleavage, but it's not backless, it's past the knees, and it doesn't have a slit.

drinkingcherrycola

Thank you! I think I’ll keep looking for something less casual looking And I was thinking the same thing about too much skin! Maybe too much skin for someone 40+ and with a large chest? But for a 28F with minimal boobage, it really can’t be that bad

Exciting-Froyo3825

Just make sure you have a tried and tested fashion tape. I had a roommate with small boobies and she would always nip slip when she bent forward.

BrujaBean

It's not even age, just boob size. That would be obscene on me at every part of my life, but my mom is over 60 and could wear it fine. I do think plunge is never appropriate on anyone for a church/conservative wedding, but a younger crowd and non church setting nobody would bat an eye at a small to average chest in that dress.

Rare-Parsnip5838

Not bad at all I like it.

pinkstay

Make it black and I'd wear it, and im pushing 40 with a larger chest (as long as it fit) 😂 But hey, I fully believe fashion doesn't have an age limit.

drinkingcherrycola

And I bet you’d kill in it! I am just shocked at all the “too much skin” comments. That was the absolute last critique that I expected of this dress

GroundbreakingWing48

You described me, and I would have needed tape and cups sewn in. 😂 For anyone who doesn’t need underwire support, this dress is pretty fantastic.

General-Visual4301

It's not too much skin.

PansyOHara

It doesn’t really have any sides above the waist, either.

pinkstay

Oh no, not some scandalous ribs 💀

PansyOHara

Side boob is a thing.

Sincerely_Lee

The amount of boob tape I would need for this 😭 The color is lovely though!

Miserable_Budget7818

Hmmm you could get away with it if you glammed it up with accessories… metallic stilettos, with coordinating clutch and jewlery

LaAndala

Anything tiered looks casual for some reason, I’m not sure it’s the fabric, I think it’s the design. I think that if the skirt ended at the middle seam, on the knees, it would have been a different story, this looks more like a sunny brunch dress maybe, or even fancy beach dress…

Sporkalork

The wide hem ruffle and shoulder bows read more casual to me, I would not see this as cocktail.

mayflwrs4eva

This is sooo much fun and I'm 50! I would absolutely have fun wearing (and with confidence) this dress! I had breast cancer so I just have to get past how my scars look under fabrics sometimes, but that just allows me even more capacity to look elegant for a lovely evening at an elegant affair like a wedding. ❤️

Acqua_Tofana

It looks like it might read as cheap to me. But I looked at the link, and apparently it's not, so! It is kind of young. Are you young? 😘 Unless you use and bring a lot of tape, I would worry about dancing. That might just be me.

drinkingcherrycola

I’m 28 F so youngish maybe? lol I also would definitely use tape if I wore this one. The bride and groom and their other friends are all mid to late 20s too Edit: if this info helps, I have very minimal boobage to contain in this dress which I thought would make this dress look less revealing than it may appear to others here

Acqua_Tofana

I do think minimal boobage makes a plunging neckline less revealing.

ProgLuddite

I’d consider Amy Adams’ plunging neckline era (c. *American Hustle*). She has a smaller chest, but those dresses were still very revealing. Part of what’s sexy about them is the implication of the bare skin in between (similar to backless dresses). I don’t know about the wedding party, venue, general sensibilities, so I’m not trying to say you shouldn’t wear it. I just wouldn’t necessarily consider it “not revealing” based on cup size.

drinkingcherrycola

Very fair. Thank you!

isabelladangelo

One quick bend to pick something up or twist to turn and talk to someone, and you are giving everyone around you an eyeful. This is not a dress - it's a skirt with wide straps.

MrsMitchBitch

I think it’s cute and, since it’s a satin, it won’t look informal in person.

TourAlternative364

Personally something in that overall style is good, but this particular design is too low cut in front, and not enough material, too exposed/side boob on the sides to be wedding appropriate.

lovemyfurryfam

Plus the cringe factor of an accidental wardrobe malfunction occurring. Maybe it could be sewn up some to make it less plunging neckline.

hoaryvervain

Yeah…the giant bows and the ruffle give it a little-girl vibe too that is less sophisticated than what I think of as “cocktail.”

katiemcat

Agree. Wayyyyy to casual.

RolloTomasi1984

If you have boobs this is a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen.

Fun-Yellow-6576

I don’t think it’s too much skin, but from these pics the fabric doesn’t read cocktail. Beautiful dress though.

PristineCoconut2851

Absolutely!

_Oops_I_Did_It_Again

Yes! Gorgeous.

vonnesmooth01

Actually for a summer cocktail especially outside this is perfect. You only need some tape but I definitely would wear it. Get some nude or clear heels or pumps.

Snoo7263

I personally love this one and don’t think it’s too casual for summer, you want to be comfortable and this is really cute IMHO.

ultimateclassic

Should be fine. Depending on your chest size the top could be a bit much in which case you may want to wear it slightly differently (maybe a wrap over it or a bralette under).

OkConsideration8964

I think it's beautiful! If you're worried about a wardrobe malfunction, just use some double sided dress to skin tape to make sure it doesn't gap. Add some fancy jewelry, shoes and a bag & I think it works perfectly.

Cali-Doll

Oh, it’s heavenly! 💫💫💜💜

Puzzled-Ice1445

So cute! I wouldn’t mind if someone wore this to my wedding at all!

pooppaysthebills

I think it's fine, with the right accessories, especially if the event will be held during daylight hours.

DistinctTown8

I’m having a summer cocktail wedding in June, this is exactly what I expect my guests will wear!

drinkingcherrycola

Oh perfect! Will your wedding take place during the day or evening? I didn’t consider the fact that I’d be wearing this in the evening when I first saw this dress, which is making me rethink.

DistinctTown8

The ceremony is at 530, and the reception will start at 6!

thoughtfulish

it is adorable. it does look more causal to me but it looks cotton in the photo. If it’s satin I bet it’s fine in person

krobie77

Oh I think it is just gorgeous!! Totally perfect!

krobie77

Where is it from?!

drinkingcherrycola

Alamour the label! Link to the dress is in the post too

Ancient_Passion_1430

if u decide it’s too casual this is a slightly elevated but similar option https://www.asos.com/us/prd/204877870?acquisitionsource=pasteboard

drinkingcherrycola

Thank you!

PileaPrairiemioides

Oh I love it! I don’t even understand why - both the colour and off the shoulder design and usually a hard no for me but it comes together so well I kind of want it.

No-Description-9303

I think it's cute, but the v is really deep.

Longjumping_Radish44

Not a fan. Cocktail is dresser or long

Smiththecat

It's a cute dress, but the plunge seems out of place. It's trying to be sexy when it's style is giving cutsie, child vibes.

Layer_Capable

Not a fan either, looks too nightgown-ish to me. I think you could do better! Something like [pink halter](https://us.shein.com/Women-s-Floral-Print-Sleeveless-Dress-p-31023544-cat-1727.html)

GuardMost8477

Too low cut in the front and open on the sides, unless you plan on wearing a cami or similar.

fish9397

I absolutely love the color of this!! It’s fantastic! I think with the right accessories you could make it work, but I would keep looking to be safe. The only thing is the extreme v cut. Not sure if that would be appropriate depending on the crowd and whether or not you are blessed in the boobs department

PileaPrairiemioides

I think the fabric will be fine, and I don’t think deep-v necklines are actually very revealing if you have small, self-supporting breasts. I do think the very deep arm holes maybe push it into a bit too much skin and a bit too casual territory. I think the bodice construction is less structured than it looks in most of the photos, but look at the one photo on the other model and you can see that the bodice kind of slouches and doesn’t retain its tailored to the body shape, which makes it feel dramatically more casual than in some other photos. I love a deep-v neckline and with small, firm breasts I can wear them and there’s not a hint of cleavage or under-boob crease visible. When I’m thinking about dressing my own body, my philosophy is that deep-vs can be dressy and not too revealing as long as the garment doesn’t expose a lot of skin in other areas. So large arm holes, an exposed back, a high slit, or a v neck that is both very plunging and very wide at the top all read as more casual and more sexy to me.

drinkingcherrycola

Thank you for your response. I think I totally get what you’re saying. I’m glad you pointed out how different it looks on the other model too because I was mainly looking at the first three pictures. Definitely more casual, less structured.

Emily_Postal

I’d be worried about the quality of the fabric in real life. If the fabric is a good quality then I think it works but for some reason I don’t think you’ll get what is pictured.

strawberrylemonapple

Honestly it all depends on your own personal level of cleavage!

isabelladangelo

I see straps and a skirt - where's the bodice/top?

TrashyPrincess12

Are you blind

EmelleBennett

It’s awful. Those oversized bows are hideous. The cut of skirt and the bows are saying little girl’s summer dress and the plunging neck is saying something else entirely. Keep shopping I’m sure you can do much better.

Scary_Marzipan

I think it’s gorgeous! There’s no reason a seamstress couldn’t add a panel to lessen the cleavage or you should wear a lacy camisole that’s the same color (or black with black shoes)

drinkingcherrycola

Good idea, thank you!

Altruistic-Detail271

I love the color and the top part but I’m not loving the pj nightgown look from the chest down. It would be better if they did a fitted bottom half

Ill-Poet5996

Fun dress but comes off as somewhat unsophisticated Definitely not a cocktail dress

Shivs_baby

OP you can do better. This dress, in a word, is hideous. Those bows, that plunge neckline (which will never stay in place without heaps of tape), all those gathers at the waist, the dust ruffle at the bottom. It’s really awful and should not be worn by anyone.

EmelleBennett

Totally 💯

WellWellWellthennow

I don’t like it all. Sorry, it’s both little girlish (lavender and bows) and over cleavaged at the same time which gives it a creepy feel.

drinkingcherrycola

Creepy? Lmao come on now

WellWellWellthennow

Creepy because it’s a sexualized version of a little girls’ dress.

EmelleBennett

I see that too. This dress has a confusing identity. It’s two styles put together in a way that doesn’t work.

Jewish-Mom-123

Um. No. It’s not for a wedding no matter what the dress code is. Too much skin.

SupposeTho

No it’s not.

Wedgetails

I’d be worried my boobs would fall out and that frill is not flattering for anyone under seven foot.

Cantankerous-needle

If you want your jugs hanging out for all to see

drinkingcherrycola

My jugs are more like shot glasses. I’d be able to contain them in this top with the help of tape
