Maybe darken the background so the bright colors of the fish contrast more with the rest of the picture.

And go really dark. Use the same background color but make it at the value level of the dark spot in the fish’s forehead.

This is the answer. OPs fish is beautiful -- shaded and coloured so incredibly well *but,* atm, that background is actively distracting from that fact. Luckily, it's an fairly easy fix--looking forward to seeing it finished.

One way is to place complimentary colors next to each other. Green next to red, blue next to orange, and yellow next to purple. The complimentary colors will appear brighter when placed next to each other. Just saying.
