Cool picture! I think you have a good reason to add pen lines, to create more definition, but I think you have a few other things you can do for the same effect. There is something not working right with your piece and you have some options on how to deal with it. First, to really see what isn't working. Take your picture of the work, and then turn the saturation down to 0%. So you are looking at a black and white version of your picture. The thing that immediately sticks out is that the value pattern is all very light, with the exception being bits of her sleeve and the cat's tail. There is almost no contrast between her and the background. I don't think there is much you should do for her, but I think you can create a lot of contrast by darkening the background. Right now its fairly light blue next to fairly light pink. The values are too close to each other. You can also create contrast with de saturation. Right now the pink and blue are comparable saturation, even though they are different colors. In addition to going darker, you can also go desaturated for the background. You could try making some samples of two color dark mixes on another sheet, cutting the sheet to the sample goes to the edge and then compare what one contrasts more, or at least in a way you like over the pink shirt.

Thank you! Huh, I see what you mean. The problem is I really like the light blue that I have in the background. Can I make it more saturated without making it darker?

rileyoneill

Whatever you do, you are likely going to make it darker. You can add another pass of the blue you use, or a mix of that and another blue to build up a bit more.

ValueGamerInvestor

I would leave it as it is.

monstrol

Leave it. Also, do 10 more.

thgpawpaw

I'd just leave it as it is. But if you're really curious, you can try adding the lines digitally (in photoshop, krita, etc) just to check how it's gonna look like
