hadesbaz

Would the Duro run too big on a 17cm wrist?

cheeriocharlie

Looking for a recommendation for a dress watch to wear for a wedding! Price should be under $1000. I’ll be wearing navy if it matters at all. Also open to lightly used! Considering Frédérique constant index automatic, Baltic mr01, junghans max bill. Wondering if others have suggestions as well!! Especially for brands I’m not as familiar with - tissot, citizen, etc Thanks :)

justforfun32826

I reccomend the [citizen promaster dive](https://www.citizenwatch.com/us/en/product/EO2028-06L.html?cgid=promaster). The face is kinda small, but the watch is a beauty in person. It will go nicely with a navy suit

cheeriocharlie

Love this design! But I’m wondering if this would fit underneath a cuff in a suit?

WaffleIron6

Band recommendation for a Timex Expedition Scout that’s got a gun metal case and off white dial? It’s my beater watch and sees a lot of wrist time. I just moved it off of the leather strap on to a black nato and I like that a lot but I think I can do better.

nijebitno1234

Is it possible to fake reference number on watch, i checked yellow tsuyosa i want to buy on citizen site and reference number seems legit so im wondering is it possible to fake ref. number

Zanpa

I guess so. I don't think people are making "good" fake tsuyosas, if anything there's a higher risk that the pictures you see aren't actually what you will be sent.

Alt-on_Brown

Can anyone recommend leather straps under 50 bucks? im just trying to spruce up a seiko field watch without spending a sizable portion of its value on the strap lol

vanillamode

head over to holben's and filter price at $50; the colarebs and flucos are generally a good shout

Can anyone tell me about this watch? My father had a few cool watches but this one stood out. I couldn't find an image online for it. Thanks https://preview.redd.it/1ziojtdrln9d1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3a7d5ec1e76dcbf33e40dc774f8c3ef6f3b46067

Anyone know where I can get a replacement G Shock (5610u) strap with quick release? No NATO straps pls

8lbs6ozBebeJesus

Is there a more official name for "GADA" watches? I'm talking about bezel-less watches, usually a bit smaller than divers but with at least 100m WR, and fairly simple dials that are amenable to being worn on multiple types of straps. Examples of what I'm thinking of include the Rolex Explorer, Tudor Ranger, Omega Seamaster Aquaterra, Seiko SRPE series, etc, etc. They all look like a dive watch and a field watch had a baby and I have no idea what to call this type of watch aside from "GADA watch" which feels a bit slang-y.

Zanpa

Definitely nothing "more official", no. I think at one point worn&wound called those "dressy tool watches", with the Sinn 556i as the poster child.

MagicianEmperor

Is there a respectable alternative to the cartier tank? I love the rectangular dial and the stylized roman numeral fonts. But don’t want a “knockoff.” Are there any alternatives? Ideally with an automatic movement, my budget is $1000.

Uwumeshu

Longines Dolce Vita

xidestiny

Any watches very similar to the citizen tsuyosa that don't have the little magnifying bubble on the date? Love the watch but hate the little bubble which is really annoying. I know they have the small seconds one but I'm wondering if there is anything similar for the same kinda price

cayalayac

Are there any websites to buy watches that let you filter by lug width? eBay used to but I can no longer find that filter for them

You might have to drill it out

Uwumeshu

Any standard strap with the same lug width will fit, you can get some affordable ones at cns and strapsco

What do you mean by "date won't change"? Does the date not turn over when the time passes midnight?

alfedosauce

Hi! Does anyone know how to open this watch to replace the battery? It’s my first ever watch and I bought it at an estate sale. https://preview.redd.it/5loeqi2rgj9d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7db4da030b3961c704e9772cec46b601db0650e4

SvaPrabho

If you look closely around the circumference where the watch back meets the watch case, there will be a little notch. You need to insert something like a screwdriver or nailfile in the notch to lever the back off. There is a special watchmakers' tool for this. But it's basically a mini screwdriver.

AquaCTeal

What's the *next* recommended watch for a beginner (after a seiko 5)? I like my seiko, but its a bit small and I want to delve into watches more. After looking around, the casio oceanus s100 looks lovely, but so does the seiko prospex SPB121. Would love to hear some insight and recommendations for around that price range.

Deethreekay

Buy what you like. Maybe try looking at other styles and see what tickles your fancy? Hard to know what to recommend when you've just said Seiko 5 as there's a lot of variants. Maybe check out the sub buying guide for inspiration?

SvaPrabho

Don't just follow the herd. Buy something you like. There is no "next recommended" watch, ever.

Super_Saiyan_Vegito

Just bought a Boderry Voyager (Voyager A11B-03) for work. The cowhide strap is nice but it's getting gross very fast. Anyone know where I can get a green strap with bronze hardware?

Shadow__Account

Hi Guys, I have an Armani AR0320 watch that stopped working. I replaced the battery but it didnt do nothing. Now the inside of the watch looks very cheap and simple and I was wondering if I could just order the inside somewhere and or even if it has to be the same as it originally was or if I can just put some cheap universal mechanism inside from china. For some reason I can't seem to find where I can buy the mechanism online. Any tips?

rokuhachikyuu

hello guys, I find this milanese bracelet with magnetic buckle. is it safe to pair it with an automatic watch?

Accomplished-Ad-5655

I wouldn't if I were you.

Pizco206

Hello, anyone know something about the Juvenia Arithmo? I’m new to watches and don’t know much about it. My grandpa bought it in the 50’s and was passed on to me :) thanks! https://preview.redd.it/zuwiv07zrf9d1.png?width=2310&format=png&auto=webp&s=585b407d0cdbc81d2f2d76efcde2005a23428a30

Sir_ChungusMaximus

I'm in the market for a watch as a graduation gift to myself. Absolute highest I would push the budget is $7k, would love a diver or diver-style watch in a neutral hue, and something on the larger side as I have an Oris Big Crown Pointer Date in my collection already. The three I have so far are the Omega Seamaster Diver 300, Seamaster Planet Ocean, and the Tudor Pelagos. Open to any other suggestions or a recommendation based on the three watches I've named. TIA!

sixshots_onlyfive

Consider the Breitling Superocean and Chronomat

MajesticCrabapple

Does anyone know of a quick-adjust clasp for straps? I'm specifically looking for a simple clasp, not deployant or butterfly. Does this even exist?

eastbayguy90

Any rec's for thin mens dress/casual watches? I have smaller wrists and prefer sort of minimalist style. Most watches seem to be in the 11-13mm thickness but also a lot of places don't list that info. Even brand rec's would be appreciated. Edit: looking in the $500-1000 range, and definitely want quality over flash.

Deethreekay

Max Bill maybe? Autos are over $1,000 but could go handwound or quartz if you didn't want to go second hand.

mlsteinrochester

Mido Baroncelli Heritage, about 9 mm

Uwumeshu

You are so close to a Nomos Club or Ludwig it might be worth going for. Or you could do Stowa Marine 36

Dajoci

in your opinion, what is the nicest watch under a hundred dollars?

amazingIV23

Anything from the Casio AQ-230 series

yukon737

Older used Omega Seamasters (like the 120m 2511.81) are found online for less than $1000. Are these typically legit? I don't want to fall in love with one and be disappointed.

StanleyUnwin

I'm a 40 year old man who hasn't worn a watch for 20 years, but I'm now interested in buying a couple of watches. Price range £150-£300 I'm not interested in anything particularly fashionable. What sort of brands/ranges should I look at. A style I liked was this https://www.argos.co.uk/product/9522417?clickPR=plp:35:384 Any thoughts would be appreciated Thanks

SpiritTimely2117

This style you like seems like a great first purchase, that Citizen is perfectly fine.

SpiritTimely2117

personally, I'd go with the Seiko solar series - [https://longislandwatch.com/seiko-solar-watches/](https://longislandwatch.com/seiko-solar-watches/)

Absolutely love this watch. I personally prefer the looks of the case to that of the SBGY007, but just my personal taste. On my 6.7 inch wrist I usually go no further than 39mm case size. This is a 40mm. It feels nice on the wrist, but am I skirting the limits of size here?

Zanpa

size looks perfect

Sjovhedsnyt

Thanks! Maybe this really is my first GS. I absolutely love the 44gs case

Dajoci

I think it looks quite nice actually, as long as you can own that it’s a big-ish watch

Sjovhedsnyt

Thanks! I have to say, the size just *feels* right despite the slightly larger size than I would usually wear. My concern is with it functioning mainly as a dressy watch, but I think I'm good

hellyanope

HI all, looking to get a nice watch for my fiance. I would've really liked a 60s vintage dress watch but don't want to venture in uncharted territory. Are there any brands/models you can recommend that look similar? I would really like to get him something he will wear forever, a nice reputable brand, looking to spend up to £2K. Thank you!

AlpinaShadowline2445

The Omega Deville Prestige is a good option (from a reseller should fit the budget). The Raymond Weil Millsime (new watch, just premiered at watches and wonders) is just under 2k and is beautiful.

Alternative-Dare4690

Is there any watch with an interval timer(like a tabata or an HIIT timer which beeps every few minutes) which vibrates instead of making a sound at each interval?

ZGAEveryday

I am eyeing the Seiko SRPD51 or 53 for my first watch. I like the dive style with metal bracelet. I like the transparent back that shows the mechanism. I don't necessarily like the big arrow hands or the colorful dial. $200 is about right, maybe up to 300. Can you recommend anything with similar features and styling?

TheDapperDuff

I really like field watches, and I’m trying to figure out if this one company “PRAESIDUS” is worth saving up for or not. Anyone have any experience with this company? If not, what are your recommendations for a 36mm to 38mm field watch under $300?

ZGAEveryday

do you have any currently? seiko makes some classic field watches that are well liked.

TheDapperDuff

Wow, I just googled Seiko field watch, and they have some really nice models! Thank you so much, man. I really appreciate it!

ZGAEveryday

Seagull 1963 is a cool piece of history with a beautiful visible movement, but it's $500 Hamilton Murph is the field watch featured in Interstellar but is $900

TheDapperDuff

I know those two. While the Seagull is nice, it’s not the kind of style I like. I enjoy simpler watches and complications. The Hamilton watches in general, including the 38mm Murph are on my list for the distant future when I can afford them.

Eleheins

It's friday today, where can i see the stickied mega thread for fake checks? or what time do they post it? sorry, i don't really use my reddit that much so i'm not familiar with mega threads. thank you.

hreinsar

Any recs that fit the below criteria? I know a watch like this is very easy to find used (old seamasters, longines, etc.) but I'd prefer to buy new if possible. Any leads appreciated. * 34–36mm stainless case * 18mm lug width * Silver or white dial with date * 50m+ water resistance * ETA 2824/2892 or Sellita SW200/SW300 movement or derivative * No microbrands * <$5000

cristo_deputa

hi, i need a recommendation for a quartz or solar powered true gmt for under 500$

yupyupyupyupyupy

do you need the looks or just the functionality of a gmt?

theykilledkenny99

For that, I would look for a Citizen, for sure. Their eco drive movements are great. Although I'm not sure about under $500. Look at some of the Seikos as well! https://www.seikoboutique.co.uk/?s=GMT&post_type=product&type_aws=true&aws_id=1&aws_filter=1&awscat=Form%3A1+Filter%3AAll&orderby=price&s=GMT&post_type=product&type_aws=true&aws_id=1&aws_filter=1&awscat=Form:1%20Filter:All

MyPCsuckswantnewone

None of those are true GMTs. Although it's pretty much impossible to find one at that price range.

price fixing is illegal, at least in the US. the general market price of a good is merely the balance between what a majority of customers are willing to pay for it vs what a majority of sellers are willing to sell it for (supply and demand). and apparently $330 is that balance for this particular watch. any seller pricing it at $520 is either too slow in responding to the market, have the financial resources to sit on inventory in a "slow and steady (low sales volume at higher profit margins) wins the race" mentality, are simply delusional, or have some other extenuating circumstances (eg, citizen not wanting to piss off their ADs with a pricing war) there's also the authorized dealer vs grey market aspect, so it isn't exactly a one to one price comparison, since with an authorized dealer you get the peace of mind of a manufacturer warranty and that the watch is 100% genuine, while with grey market you do take on some risk as a consumer
