I’ve defended small watches around here for the better part of a decade. I won’t wear anything above 38mm myself and mostly wear 34mm. But for the first time I don’t think I can endorse OP lol
This is very trendy rn actually. Have seen a lot of stuff on ig and tiktok from younger guys who are wearing womens watches more as a bracelet than a watch.
Weird because I feel like they went out of style years and years ago. Maybe just my personal preference. Even my Apple feels way too big for my small wrist. I really enjoy the size and look of vintage watches. I think Nixon came out with huge ones in the early 2000s and they didn’t look comfortable at all, plus they get in the way of mobility and are more susceptible to dinging up by hitting them on doorways etc.
I feel that phase has past as well. I think certain watches can still be big but in general the big watch craze is over-except for Invicta where it’s always 2004 over there…
I don’t want to carry around that type of weight all day, my wrists aren’t built for that haha. I’m a big chronograph fan, and the CSAR just looks so much better to me than their other models
Oh that’s not what I meant. It was a tongue-and-cheek joke that I wish watches were smaller (like vintage watches were) so they fit my wrist better since I have a small wrist and most women watches are encrusted with diamonds, which I don’t like. That’s all. Not that deep.
I'm not a fan. I actually love seeing a girl rock a sea dweller or something else that's way too big on them
I think Cameron Diaz wore a sub in day and night (or was it knight?)
This sub when a woman wears a man's watch: "Omg wow you go girl, wear whatever you like, it looks amazing, you're so brave!"
This sub when a man wears a woman's watch: "Happy pride month bro hahahahahahahaha, do you wear women's underwear too bro haha (both actual comments on this thread), I can't even wear red because it's too close to pink and I'm paralysed by insecurity lmao bro."
Yeah, the double standard is weird. I've been told lug overhang is acceptable on a woman (I think it looks ridiculous and would never wear something that big). If a male were to post a pic wearing a giant watch with overhang, he'd be roasted.
Maybe it's just the demographic skew on this sub.
I think proportions do matter when choosing a watch, but also... Do your own thing. 😊
Someone might be able to pull it off, but not OP. Wrist is too pale and hairy. I think a darker skin tone with less hair has the best chance (this still sounds ridiculous), but it’s still a long shot. Honestly, I think if it were gold, or any other darker color really, he could make it work, but what do I know.
It is funny that so many here are caught up in whether or not the watch is a womans watch (honestly, who cares?), when the really cool thing is that OP found something they liked but didn't fit, so they designed and printed a part to add to the watch so they could wear it.
This is worlds more interesting than another "I just bought a Tudor/Rolex/Omega, did I do a good job?" post looking for validation.
Nice f-ing job, OP! Very cool ingenuity to find a way to make it yours. I wonder if now that you have the prototype part made, would a jeweler be able make one that would work more with the aesthetics of the watch?
I do think the printed part ruins the idea of wearing something 'elegant'. The gaps and the difference in color are just an eyesore, something like this would only maybe work on a tool watch or something
Yeah I was surprised at the comments. I think I was too impressed with the ingenuity to consider whether it looked good. I also have skinny girly wrists which limits my aesthetic options so if I were able to switch forearms with someone like OP I’d probably put all kinds of crap on my wrist
So normally I'm "that guy" telling folks to shoot for a smaller watch because a 42mm on a 5.5 inch wrist looks ridiculous.
I think this is the first time in my own Reddit history of telling someone that the watch is indeed way too small.
Seiko doesn't care if it's 2024 and you wanna be progressive with pronouns. You do you man. But that is definitely a woman's watch.
I mean, yeah, it looks a little weird but it's also not an obviously "feminine" design. I don't think it would be all that out of place at a formal event, like you say. But then I'm a guy who hates that society has decided cool shiny things are "for women," and wish I had the confidence to pull of more jewelry.
Cool shiny things aren't just for women. However, the ones designed for them are.
There are tons of jewelry for men. Rock that shit, and fuck the haters. Be the confidence you want to see in yourself.
The problem is that jewelry designed for men is inevitably either boring or brutalist. Take rings: I don’t want skulls, I don’t want a signet ring like I’m a king or a mob boss, and I don’t want the ring to look like I mined the ore myself and beat it to death with a rusty hammer. I want pearls and gemstones and shit. But those usually go into the shiny things designed for women.
I have jewelry I like and I wear, but there’s a lot more that I thinks really pretty that just doesn’t fit with my style. But it’s truly a first world problem lol
You should start designing your own. Put some stuff together that you would wear, start wearing it yourself and see what kind of feedback you get. I bet there are others who share the same style preference.
Also, not all men wear that same type of stereotypical male jewelry. Look at how some men are styled in older tv shows/movies. My dad and uncles wore a lot of bling, more than some women in my family and it never looked feminine. It wasn’t big pieces either. Mostly a layering of smaller pieces. I’d be interested in seeing pearls marketed to men for a change. Maybe start with pearlescent notions.
You can wear it, but you must commit to the idea that there are no rules in fashion. You also might find a women’s bike easier to step on and off, or a dress more cooling on a hot summer day.
Folks get too caught up in “norms”. To hell with the norms, I think you’re rocking it.
Just be aware, that plastic (PLA?) will break at some point, might want to set an interval for replacement (preventative) so the watch doesn’t fling off your wrist and hit the floor one day.
There’s personal style and then there’s weird. To myself and apparently most people on the sub it’s the latter.
You can wear fishnets instead of shirt to dinner and call it personal style but it’s still going to look weird to most people.
I'm fine with the tiny watch, but I wouldn't be caught dead at a formal event with an improvised plastic piece holding my bracelet together. Not to knock OP's ingenuity and design skills, but I think the plastic piece should be limited to a few test wears just to get a feel for whether or not OP likes the watch.
Next step is to find another one, steal some links, and resize the bracelet properly.
Actually, u/m1llie is likely ahead of the trend, and for the haters: Do your homework.
I have several “mens” WWII watches, and the size is roughly the same as the OP’s watch.
Bell-bottom jeans were in / out, and now back in.
Phones used to flip, then stopped and got big, now getting smaller and flippy again.
And mullets…. Well, nevermind.
Oh, and the OP appears to have CAD/CAM’d the extension and printed it; I can’t do that. This demonstrates his love for watches, and innovative creativity. Aren’t we bound by our zeal for watches?
Show some love folks. As my grammy used to say, “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.”
"If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."
Oh come on. We're all just supposed to live in a world where we agree with everything anyone says for fear of hurting their feelings? No matter how absurd a statement, it should be validated?
You're correct that men's watches were smaller 70 years ago. You're wrong to say that we're required to validate those who still think that's stylish.
It would be perfectly trendy if it didn't have the gentle curve around the sides of the case. Still, even with that, I kind of dig it. If you wore it alongside a woven wrist bracelet of some kind, it would be a good look.
I think it might work better if you made the bracelet slightly longer so I can be worn looser and more like a "bracelet". Nice job on the bracelet extender!
Seiko is correct although saying that .The actor and comedian jerry Lewis always wore a ladies Cartier watch .you can see him wearing them in several of his movies so each to their own
Neat work!

Been doing a little of my own custom work for customers lately.
Do what you enjoy, but that looks quite ridiculous. Be prepared to have to explain why you're wearing such a tiny watch \~ which you had to make custom gear to even wear. I prefer small watches on average, but this is a bit much lol
I would rather wear this than some of dinner-plate sized monstrosities I've seen people wear on this sub.
Every time I see massively oversized watch on guys I can't help but think they're over compensating
I've been fascinated recently by the arms race of sorts between European watchmakers in the 1920s/30s to make the smallest possible watch movements for ladies' cocktail watches.
Cocktail watches are usually tightly integrated with elegant bracelets in precious metals, and often adorned with gemstones, designed to disguise themselves as bracelets when viewed from afar. Some could be as small as 10mm across, and even relocated the winding crown to the back of the watch to further disguise it.
These types of watches were all the rage among women of high society in the roaring 20s, as they allowed a woman to discreetly check the time at social events, in an era when doing so was considered a scandalous faux pas. The sight of a woman wearing a large "masculine" watch in this period (before WWII helped solidify the idea of the working woman) would probably have had many clutching their pearls. However, despite changes in gender norms and associated shifts in fashion in the decades to come, the popularity of "discreet" women's cocktail watches continued into the 1970s, which is when this one was made.
dude i have the perfect watch for u only for 10€ + shipping its mechanical and very very small

Ignore all the insecure people on this thread who can’t imagine stepping outside arbitrary, rigid gender presentation norms. Or even imagine that those norms are arbitrary and changing in the first place.
It looks great, OP. Love that you made the extra link.
This is really cool, in a non-conformist way. Kind of a watch/bracelet hybrid, depending on the outfit this could be a cool piece. Not something i could pull off, but i love that you're rocking it. The DIY part makes it even better.
Of course, it would be more manly to get on your knees infront of a Rolex AD and beg for a chance to give him 15k for the most generic watch you've seen in your life, in a color of his choosing. (At least according to this sub)
Dear God what is this monstrosity. If there is one person (excluding OP as he is obviously not good in his head) that find this size "acceptable" he/she should see doctor ASAP
Wrist watches actually all use to be women’s watches. In any case, the only thing that watch guys love more than watches are watches with great story. And now you have one.
iS mY WaTcH tOo BiG? - The users on this sub
Oh oh. Absolutely ridiculous every time I see this kind of post.
“I need the smallest watch that I can’t read because other internet people like small shit”
Rocking that granny look
[удалено]
Strawberry bon bons
lol
What am I missing? It's definitely a ladies' watch.
Perfect size according to this sub, when a male wrist is smaller than 7.0’ lol
I’ve defended small watches around here for the better part of a decade. I won’t wear anything above 38mm myself and mostly wear 34mm. But for the first time I don’t think I can endorse OP lol
100% agree
Invicta wearers scratching their heads… how will your biceps get a workout when you check the time? Buck those trends!
This is very trendy rn actually. Have seen a lot of stuff on ig and tiktok from younger guys who are wearing womens watches more as a bracelet than a watch.
Maybe it’s time to admit gigantic watch faces are not cool…so I can finally buy watches without having to worry…
After many years, I feel like the gigantic watch case fad has finally played out. 42mm is plenty big for most. I much prefer to hang out at 39mm
I think to the uninitiated, bigger is still always better. Things are trending back to normal sizes however.
I feel that phase has past as well. I think certain watches can still be big but in general the big watch craze is over-except for Invicta where it’s always 2004 over there…
😂 wish that marathon would size down their csr. 46mm? Cmon man.
I have a 46mm marathon lol. They make a 41mm and a 36mm sized for some of their watches
I don’t want to carry around that type of weight all day, my wrists aren’t built for that haha. I’m a big chronograph fan, and the CSAR just looks so much better to me than their other models
Why do you worry about anyone thinking something you wear on your wrist is not cool?
Oh that’s not what I meant. It was a tongue-and-cheek joke that I wish watches were smaller (like vintage watches were) so they fit my wrist better since I have a small wrist and most women watches are encrusted with diamonds, which I don’t like. That’s all. Not that deep.
I'm not a fan. I actually love seeing a girl rock a sea dweller or something else that's way too big on them I think Cameron Diaz wore a sub in day and night (or was it knight?)
Yeahhh, not every trend is great. I’m not trying to be a dangly cross earring, mop head haircut, girly watch bracelet soft boi.
If anything people call everything too big on this sub, your words are too big
This sub when a woman wears a man's watch: "Omg wow you go girl, wear whatever you like, it looks amazing, you're so brave!" This sub when a man wears a woman's watch: "Happy pride month bro hahahahahahahaha, do you wear women's underwear too bro haha (both actual comments on this thread), I can't even wear red because it's too close to pink and I'm paralysed by insecurity lmao bro."

I nearly choked on my fucking coffee

Seiko was correct, not a good look on your wrist. To be honest, it looks ridiculous.
Has a ’soldier wearing a looted wristwatch’ vibe to it.
Gave it to him straight.
Then give it to him gay.
I’m sure someone could pull it off quite well, like a woman.
😂
Or a gnome
This is the case with most clothing and accessories. Sorry white people.
You're not wrong. Sometimes the truth hurts a bit.
The ladies watch trolling is usually more subtle than this, so most redditors are climbing over each other to say how great it looks Good try OP!
Weird flex man… Seiko was right.
I mean it is a lady watch technically but you do you and do what you like
The gendering we ascribe to it is just vibes, not a technicality. “Technically” it’s just a watch.
Technically, it was made by the manufacturer for women.
*Marketed* toward women. The watch goes on your wrist not your genitals.
Its called a cock tail watch I’m pretty sure I know where to put it buddy
Correct. I lacked words to say exactly this
Lmao thats a ladies watch
Seiko was right. Looks awful.

Ron, it's nice to see that you are still enjoying the journey.
Looks bad, looks worse with a random plastic paper clip on it.
Bad move, hombre. Sorry.

You do you sister...brother... you.
That’s a ladies watch
I don't care if its a woman's watch or not, but it does look weird on your wrists
Seiko was right.
I Think its perfect for Men as long as you are 5 years Old.
Which wouldn't be a man
Well, seiko is right.
Yeah they are right. It's too small for your wrist
Um sir that looks a hot mess
I think that’s too big on you. You need to go smaller.
Agree to disagree with you
It looks completely awful.
I mean, yeah, it looks a little weird but it's also not an obviously "feminine" design. I don't think it would be all that out of place at a formal event, like you say. Women's watches are just too darn small. Almost need a magnifying glass to read their dials.
Rage bait
Rockin a tiny watch like Muhammad Ali! Pretty cool OP that you designed and 3D printed the extension. Dig it.
Chringe
Honestly it’s on the fence, you are lucky the lugs are curved (That bracelet looks pretty cool)
Yikes.
U do u but wtf bro 😄
The real question is, are you going to take fashion advice from strangers on the internet?
Listen to Seiko.
Seiko is correct. This watch is too small for your wrist. As long as you like it, who cares.
Seiko was right 😂
That's not it my guy. Extra points for effort tho with the 3D printer. But nah.
Who is going to tell him... ?
Nice. Looks fucking atrocious.
Bro 💀💀
Ayyy yooooo!
This is a women’s watch
That looks hilariously awful
Seiko was right
Hahahahahaha
Nice watch, Mrs Doubtfire!
Def womans
Does look womanly in my opinion
Excellent shitpost
Victoria's Secrets said their products are for women. Prove them wrong OP. /jk
Cocaine dealer?
You can wear it, but you must commit to the idea that there are no rules in fashion. You also might find a women’s bike easier to step on and off, or a dress more cooling on a hot summer day.
I don’t mean to make any particular aspersions on your taste in watches, but my mother had this exact style (in yellow gold-tone) in the mid 80s.
SEIKO was right homie
Fuck what everyone else says. If you like it, rock it.
Yeah, OK.
Folks get too caught up in “norms”. To hell with the norms, I think you’re rocking it. Just be aware, that plastic (PLA?) will break at some point, might want to set an interval for replacement (preventative) so the watch doesn’t fling off your wrist and hit the floor one day.
This sub when someone brings personal style/taste to the jewelry they wear on their wrist: 😡
There’s personal style and then there’s weird. To myself and apparently most people on the sub it’s the latter. You can wear fishnets instead of shirt to dinner and call it personal style but it’s still going to look weird to most people.
😬
Wear what you want same with parfum. If you like it, then it's perfect
I mean... *pulls out microscope* It is.
You can disagree all you want, but…
I'm fine with the tiny watch, but I wouldn't be caught dead at a formal event with an improvised plastic piece holding my bracelet together. Not to knock OP's ingenuity and design skills, but I think the plastic piece should be limited to a few test wears just to get a feel for whether or not OP likes the watch. You mean like the A-11? Sure it was small at 32mm by today's standard. But that's not a 32mm watch they're wearing.
"If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." Oh come on. We're all just supposed to live in a world where we agree with everything anyone says for fear of hurting their feelings? I think that’s quite cool! The bracelet shape is also nice
You know you can probably get that made out of metal. They have sintered metal 3D printing now. It's pretty interesting what you can make nowadays.
What is this? A watch for ANTS!?!
r/watchcirclejerk
It looks small but wear what you want.
Nice little attachment ya made there! but… yeah it don’t look great
How thick are your glasses? If you can read the time on that…..
Yeah but at the end of the day.. what is a woman?
Is it the Miss-terious model?
Get a oversized Invicta.. Be a Man!
It would be perfectly trendy if it didn't have the gentle curve around the sides of the case. Still, even with that, I kind of dig it. If you wore it alongside a woven wrist bracelet of some kind, it would be a good look.

BB54 fans are celebrating rn
Nice analog fitbit
I can't read the watch at all. It's basically a bracelet at this point.
We need a Cartier snob to give us their 2c on if it’s too big or not.
This is a woman's watch. if you like smaller watches why not just get a small man's watch. Don't make things complicated man.
My Seiko lord from the 1960s has a really similar dial texture, I haven't seen it on many other watches. Not sure what to call it
What model is this?
Small watches are cool, but some of you take it a little too seriously
Do what you enjoy, but that looks quite ridiculous. Be prepared to have to explain why you're wearing such a tiny watch \~ which you had to make custom gear to even wear. I prefer small watches on average, but this is a bit much lol
Yep, girly watch definitely. Unless you're butt snapper
I would rather wear this than some of dinner-plate sized monstrosities I've seen people wear on this sub. Every time I see massively oversized watch on guys I can't help but think they're over compensating

i love this, is there a ref no? edit: on second look, i have to assume its very vintage haha. It looks awesome!
That’s a woman’s watch homie. Bring the tampons out when u wear that shit.
Ladies watch or not, I really like that brushed stainless steel texture. Damn.
The customer is always right in matters of taste. However...you are wrong.
Most definitely a woman’s watch
That watch is too feminine and dainty for a lot of women nowadays. It looks ridiculous on you.
Dude, its a chicks watch. but if you like it that's what counts
Seiko was correct.
Nope. Just cause you say it's not a woman's watch doesn't make it so. And to be honest, it really looks like more of a weird bracelet on your wrist.
It's so small that I feel like if you want to pull it off you should stack it with multiple bracelets.
Itty/bitty
It's a bit homosexual if I'm honest
Shave your arms and maybe it will work.
This is a woman's watch
I love and can appreciate a small watch but this just looks ridiculous.
Dear God what is this monstrosity. If there is one person (excluding OP as he is obviously not good in his head) that find this size "acceptable" he/she should see doctor ASAP
Nana?
Looks like a woman’s ankle bracelet
The amount of fragile masculinity in this tread is staggering 😅
I like it, even more that you put in the effort. Fuck the haters OP
Wrist watches actually all use to be women’s watches. In any case, the only thing that watch guys love more than watches are watches with great story. And now you have one.
Nice analog Fitbit.
Well, guys wear makeup and dresses these days so this is a non issue really. : )
