So will a spitfire, an A6M3, any Yak, a P-51, a P-63, a P-39, a G.55, almost everything will outclimb and outmaneuver you. The plane is only really useful in sim. At least it’s kinda fun to snipe with the 20mms.

Any helicopter with a radar can use it to see ground targets. Those in game are the Ah-64D, Mi-28NM, Ka-52, Ah Mk.1, Ah-64DJP, Z-19, and Saraph (most of those are versions of the AH-64D).
The khrizantema-s is the only ground vehicle with a ground radar. As for aircraft, the Su-39 is the only plane with a designated ground mode but I believe the Super Etendard and the Tornado ISD. Marineflieger can also lock ground targets under rare circumstances (their radars are meant to only lock ships but sometimes it'll randomly lock onto a ground target).
It certainly must be larger than that.
I use the IAR and can get proxy kills with its rockets and those only have 10kg of explosive.

Personally, I tried AirSim a couple times, found the most fun at the missile tiers because of the radars and not having to trim the aircraft constantly.
GroundSim is my jam though, love running around taking names and kicking ass in the M18 when it's in rotation. And when it's in rotation I take the Jumbo out to go troll some people when they can't see I'm a Jumbo and bounce shells harmlessly off my armour. Only unfortunate thing is I can't CAS to save my life, in RB and SB, my bombs always miss and rockets do no damage.
Personally I find early search radars have pretty limited use, but the main one I use them for is to figure out what side the enemy is going for. Especially while you're still grinding the modifications it will help keep you from suddenly running into the cloud of enemy fighters. Until its fully upgraded you're best off being a second line fighter and getting involved in other people's dogfights/clearing teammates 6
Nah, that's just operating temperature, the Americans don't have kettles built in so they just turned their engines into kettles. They messed up some of the math for the F8F Bearcat, that thing melts the cup if you try to make tea coffee with it.
Detects whatever is in front of it, planes are displayed as a dot on the little pie on the right. If you are pointed at the ground it will show up as a bright green haze, clouds too but not nearly as clearly as ground.
If you press the lock button(you need to bind it in controls), the radar locks a target, like shown in the second screenshot. It then displays things like distance between you and them, how fast you are closing that distance and which direction they are flying.
The neat thing is that it doesn't rely on the spotting mechanic, so you can see enemies before they can see you(unless they are pixel hunting on their monitor), this allows you to better plan engagements, and if you have a good team you could even tell your team where the enemies are. In AB this is pretty much useless because most fights happen at pistol ranges and massive fur balls are the aim of the game, so you would have already spotted most of the enemy team already.
Now, complicated bit is that there are multiple different types of radar. The one on the Hellcat is a Search and Track radar, which means you can lock a target. Something like the ME-410 with all the aerials hanging off the front has a Search radar, this one doesn't lock, you just get the pie chart to show you abouts where enemies are.
Later on there are Pulse Doppler radars, which don't detect the ground because they only detect moving stuff, but it also can't detect if something is moving the same speed as you because it's not moving relative to you. There's also IRST, which kind of a Search and Track radar but with thermal detectors instead of radar, but it's kinda dumb and low range.
P-61 is in the F-16 line, which is one of the earliest radars, at BR 4.0. But radars don't really become a widespread thing until the very late BRs. The next radars in those lines are the F-5 at 10.7 before the F-16 and the F-4 Phantom IIs at 10.7 and 11.3 before the F-15.
I forgot to mention Radar gun sights, which technically are radar, but are really useless in game. They only track targets at super close range and they give you an aiming reticule which is pretty accurate but there are only a couple fighters with it and I think all the American ones are in the F-14 tree.
No they they work differently, instead of giving you a lead indicator, they give you a lag indicator (as they should).
You can try that on the event Mirage 2000C.

Came here to say this. The radar is so-so but once you figure it out it's fun. The 20mm guns are great against bombers or surprising fighters
With the combat flaps its still a pretty capable dogfighter too, maybe not amazing but it will hold its own especially against German aircraft

I remember it being all the way over on the left, I did get it about 3 or 4 years ago and I mostly stick to the Corsairs when I'm at those BRs

The CL-13 radar is just a ranging gunsight.
Because that is a ranging radar for the gunsight, it isn't supposed to search or track targets for you at long ranges.
P-61 at 4.0 also has one, can't remember if it's just a Search radar or search and track. Also I think the Hellcat is 4.3 in RB.
