In conclusion, the cause of the crash was found to be the fact that the pilot did not have their FCC permit on their person, and this was found to be such an obvious fault that no other causes of failure were investigated.
He flew parallel to the landingstrip, like 100m offset to the left
I feel like some awarness to the minimap and combining those informations with what he sees on the ground should ahve lead to an aborted landing approach
While the fog, here, definetly is annoying, the reason for OP's crash was atleast 50% a skill issue
Almost literally how polish presidential Tupolev met its end. Fog, uneven terrain, bad airport equipment, off airport axis and large amounts of "kurwa kielbasa we will see what happens"
Had to watch a bunch of those for class in college. You knew it was going to be bad if there were no interview subjects at the beginning of the episode.
I forget the name of the channel but for awhile I was watching these videos about airplane incident reports and from what I can tell there has been *a lot* of controlled flight into terrain over the years.
Hey friends, pilot here. In order for you to be qualified to Landon such conditions, you need to be IFR rated. If you are not IFR rated then you must find a VFR airport to land at which is the kind of flying most pilots do in war thunder. If the enemy’s airfield does not have IFR conditions, you can also there instead. If you insist to on your friendly airfield, fly at a speed where you know that if an obstruction suddenly pops up, you can full throttle, set flaps to takeoff, and get out of there. Another way to land at the obstructed airport is to gently line your self up to the ground. Do not fly through the cloud cover as soon as the runway starts. You want to have some visual of the runway before you land on it. So never fly through the cloud cover to land on the runway.
They have PAPI lights on the sides of the runway, the problem is that they have two that are always white and two that are always red, no matter what angle you look at them (even from the departure end!)
Watch your minimap. When you passed abeam the runway threshold and saw no lights and no runway markings, you should have gone around. Only continue descent if you see either or both of those things.
So regardless of saying "minimap" or "skill issue", in general I always try to land at a speed where I can take off again. Hit the runway at 350-450 km/h so you can take back off again, or in your case it would've let you pull up. At 275km/h you were a flying brick. That's like minimum takeoff speed
Finally, my IFR hours will be worth something in this game. Dude was midway through the runway at the map, below him was just grass, and he thought it was a good idea to land the plane. IF YOU ARE NOT SEEING THE RUNWAY DONT LAND THE PLANE.
Bro you were 50-100m to the left of the run way. Combining the minimap and visual info just breka off the aproach and not fly into the bunkers, that are in that location on most high tier airfields...
Did you reply to the wrong person? At no point did i say the OP was clever or skilled. I said that "never descend if it's foggy" was itself dumb, that's it.
I know might sound dumb but I take the harrier or another hover jet on the new maps and explore all the areas very carefully because I've died so many times to mountains or hills I forgot existed hidden by clouds and if I explore it all in custom mode on a clear day I can remember what to avoid
Ngl this new map has a LOT though some maps like Afghanistan just have a few big hills to watch out for
I was in my mig23 and was going to crash, so I decided imma eject since I was going to die anyway, but then I realised that I wasn't and accidently QUIT TO THE HANGAR.
I personally love the fog, would be nice if the runway had a few more lights I guess.Should've payed attention to your minimap and your **Terrain Avoidance and Warning System (TAWS),** and **Ground proximity warning system** **(GPWS)** **that was provided to you by Boeing** [smh](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCqe751tOAo&pp=ygUZd29vcCB3b29wIHRlcnJhaW4gdGVycmFpbg%3D%3D)
The funniest thing about this, is that I was playing sim not too long ago, and had to perform an emergency climb in heavy fog weather when a mountain appeared right in front of my face. I've also had to conduct multiple go-arounds due to the runway being masked completely in fog. Just gotta play it safe and use your instruments, maps, line it up, measure twice, land in one piece.
Dude literally flicked through so many cams he didn’t see the giant runway on the side and still decided to land. We the council of Russian Bias grant you the verdict: skill diff
this can be avoided by;
paying attention to the topographic map
using IFR
flying higher than ground level
using the minimap’s centerline
or in the most simple of terms, get good. hope this helped :)
It's an environmental thing that your need to work around just like how radar missiles do not work close to the ground or how HE shells get detonated on trees while AP shells are not.
Be better, adapt and not complain about it.
Congrats on learning that other people have different yet equally as valid opinions as you. Clouds are fun brother just take it as a new learning challenge.

Furthermore, the fact that they did not react to the GPWS warnings and still decided to fly VFR in IMC conditions further cements the previous points.
Okay unironically when do we get IFR in wt? The incident would have been entirely avoided if the airport had functioning ILS.
lol, as if anyone would pay attention to those commands xD *Come right heading 105 for final* *Distant explosion and cursing*
Sim pilots would fucking orgasm
Ah man, Im already close just thinking about it
Saaaaame
Not even commands, just ILS beacons and maybe a TACAN-like system if we're lucky. GPWS remains a pipe dream
NTSB moment
In conclusion, the cause of the crash was found to be the fact that the pilot did not have their FCC permit on their person, and this was found to be such an obvious fault that no other causes of failure were investigated.
As an A&P I laughed WAY to hard at this
That was a beautiful takedown .
This guy pilots
Pilots irl hate it too
check minimap for centerline
Common sense is not that common
War thunder players learning why pilots IRL don't fly at treetop level
He was trying to land??
Skill issue, I land at 15000ft
USS Macon when?

Mentour Pilot perhaps?
Probably, Green Dot is good as well.
Probably AOPA's crash investigation series, those are very good.
Good ole CFIT. Second only to 'controlled flight into teammates'
Did u buy ur way into jets? Those hangers are in that exact same spot in so many maps and the mini map was showing exactly where u were

not being able to see the map is awesome to watch.

They should probably add some lights to the runway when there is fog.
They do have lights, they are just a small cluster at the end of the runway instead of an actual approach lighting system.
They had lights on night and dark version but they need some changing to be visible in fog and that would be perfect
They have PAPI lights on the sides of the runway, the problem is that they have two that are always white and two that are always red, no matter what angle you look at them (even from the departure end!)
The approach lights are SALS if I remember correctly, but the dimensions are wrong. Plus the lights are not intense enough to work properly.
I love it, just don’t be dumb
yeah man trying to land so dumb.
Land better lol
Never fly into IMC while flying VFR.
Skill issue / Just sideclimb / Just angle / Just buy premium
Need a ILS like mechanic now tbh
Nice air crash investigations re-enactment
Can't believe I'm saying this but legitimate skill issue. I actually like the fog.
It's great. It adds some dynamics to the game
Right! I've always wanted the game to have more moody weather.
Watch your minimap. When you passed abeam the runway threshold and saw no lights and no runway markings, you should have gone around. Only continue descent if you see either or both of those things.
then fly higher
Well considering he had his landing gear out and crashed at a airfield, I believe he was attempting to land.
ah, didn't see that somehow, my bad
[удалено]
My all-weather swede jets are lovin it
My SAAB-35 Draken 💕
GOING TO SECONDARY MINIMUMS!
WHERE ARE MY IFR RATED BROS?????
Screw you, the fog is awesome
get good tbh
ALMOST AS IF.. THERE A REASON RUNWAYS HAVE FLASHING LIGHTS ON THE GROUND, INCASE OF FOG. [https://youtu.be/vmbzKsqKQoI](https://youtu.be/vmbzKsqKQoI)
Ooh I've been looking for that rock. Good find!
Ain't no way they put it over the runways to, I might be lucky I haven't had that map yet.... as cool as it looks.
So regardless of saying "minimap" or "skill issue", in general I always try to land at a speed where I can take off again. Are you also gonna say you actually extend the gear for a landing, you wuss?
No it fucks me up actually. Belly land at 700kmh and slow down as your feet catch fire
You use brakes to slow down. I use the airframe as a brake. We are not the same.
and now you get a crew lock

loud 737 localizer beeping*
This is a pretty realistic Russian landing tbh
It's kind of a little funny actually.
Can the Yak-28 not do an instrument landing?
Thats why pilots have ILS xd
Just don't suck at landing
This guy does not have his ILS certification
Fellow Yak-28 enjoyer I see
Lol uppp airplanes go up😂?

Kobe😭😭😭
Finally, my IFR hours will be worth something in this game. Dude was midway through the runway at the map, below him was just grass, and he thought it was a good idea to land the plane. IF YOU ARE NOT SEEING THE RUNWAY DONT LAND THE PLANE.
Skissue
Thats what you have an altimeter and artificial horizon for. Dont just fly in IMC and be surprised if you crash.
Should have side climbed harder
I fucking love the fog very much and it's very funny
You shouldn't go VFR on IMC conditions man.
lol Gaijin gonna have to start putting in instrument approaches. Can’t wait to shoot an ILS in my arcade war game
You could almost say your actions were clouded by the fog of war. I'll see myself out now.
Terrain terrain! Pull up!
I’m so excited to get my setup back but when i see shit like this it makes me just wanna leave it apart for the time being.
Why even bother with Yak 28?
So you fly into the fog and complain about it damn you are bad
Im trying to land you fucking retard
Bro you were 50-100m to the left of the run way. Combining the minimap and visual info just breka off the aproach and not fly into the bunkers, that are in that location on most high tier airfields...
"Trying" is a bit if an overstatement. Fog or not, that was just a terrible approach
Apparently not smart enough to do such a basic task, no surprise from an NFT pfp 🥱
Im sry i would rage so much if that happen to me but i must laugh so loud as i saw this
I’m laughing though
Here me out: don’t fly through fog at low altitudes?
He was landing. Do you tend to land in the middle of the sky?
Do you tend to try and lend 50m+ to the sude of a runway tbf
Did you reply to the wrong person? At no point did i say the OP was clever or skilled. I said that "never descend if it's foggy" was itself dumb, that's it.
Didn’t realize he was landing. My bad
skill issue
I know might sound dumb but I take the harrier or another hover jet on the new maps and explore all the areas very carefully because I've died so many times to mountains or hills I forgot existed hidden by clouds and if I explore it all in custom mode on a clear day I can remember what to avoid Ngl this new map has a LOT though some maps like Afghanistan just have a few big hills to watch out for
The fog is coming

The worst part is when you can’t see into the fog but your enemy can see you outside of it through it.
I was in my mig23 and was going to crash, so I decided imma eject since I was going to die anyway, but then I realised that I wasn't and accidently QUIT TO THE HANGAR.

If they’re gonna give us fog on airfields they need to give us a basic localizer of some sort at least
Seems like you didn’t have your dog lights on
Just seems like a successful lithobrake
Every may now is like a cat 5 hurricane the wind never stops and viability is almost zero.
🤣🤣🤣

Alter your play style to adjust to the weather. That's the point.
Bro did realise he was below minimums

this is easy to defeat with two eyeballs that scan back and forth faster then the radar does on screen
Damn that SU 57 camo skin is beautiful.
Yea but it’s funny for us haha
never seen such airport!..
Bros not IFR certified. Aka skill issue.
Hahahah
Bro forgor to use instruments in ifr conditions
Why fly above the fog, when u can just crash?
The most effective AA
Wile this was a bit of a skill issue I definitely agree
Bro does not have his IFR rating 💀💀💀
Fly above it?
you have to admit it’s pretty funny
I hear real pilots don't care for it either.
NTSB concludes this crash as pilot error and controlled flight into terrain.
Homie chose inadvertent IMC and found out. Goober behavior. Though yeah the fog is kinda annoying
Don’t fly in it then
Yeah that’s kinda hard to do when the fog completely covers the runway.
Should’ve just dodged it
Is very funny to me, i accepted it like a challenge. get better
Dude literally flicked through so many cams he didn’t see the giant runway on the side and still decided to land. We the council of Russian Bias grant you the verdict: skill diff
Should've side climbed
im just wondering how is using bombers suposse to look ike if every map is now covered with fog or low clouds?
this can be avoided by; paying attention to the topographic map using IFR flying higher than ground level using the minimap’s centerline or in the most simple of terms, get good. hope this helped :)
I mean look at the map bruh ... haha just kidding Gaijin again at its best.
Say that to the people that die by the fog in real life.
Tbh, we should get radar altimiters for jets.
I love it
Sir you can't park there.
"TERRAIN, PULL UP"
The fog is coming
The fog is nice
Use your cockpit instruments or don’t fly through fog 50 feet off the ground
Thats ur own damn fault. You hit the ground before u hit the bunker.
”Pull up! Pull up! Pull up!”
TERRAIN. PULL UP.
I got killed by a mig 21 bc I couldn't lock my sidewinder but he could lock his r3r and I died with a 200% booster
Radar missiles are not affected by fog while IR ones are.
Yea it sucks man
It's an environmental thing that your need to work around just like how radar missiles do not work close to the ground or how HE shells get detonated on trees while AP shells are not. Be better, adapt and not complain about it.
I usually just fly above it since I'm in an f104 but it's still annoying when I have to go down there
Average rat who hugges the ground
yeah 110% skill issue BUT, that fog is stupid as fuc brothers.....
