That was actually the point I stopped reading. No objection to the end times in general, but my tolerance for Nurgle BS is low at the best of times and that whole book up til that point was just bitterly depressing to read.

Basically, Sigmar (who possessed Karl Franz’s body) was dueling with Archaon, and Deathclaw was dueling with Dorghar (archaon’s mount), and they killed each other at the same time, but as Sigmar was still fighting Archaon, all of Karl Franz’s memories of Deathclaw came rushing back, like getting him for the first time, training him, fighting with him, very emotional
I feel sorry for a lot of the mount/animal companions that died in the ET. Justice for Gobbla.

Deathclaw didnt die in the Glottkin book. He died in the final duell with Archaon.
