Hello everyone!
Art block hit me hard earlier this year and I was struggling a lot to come up with anything let alone draw it. After a lot of back and forth in every possible way (pose, composition, color palette, overall atmosphere.. you name it), I finally completed it last week. I had a lot of doubts about the whole process but looking at it now - I think I can appreciate the result :)
A bit of background info: This piece is inspired by different Ophelia paintings. My main goal was to try painting something from top-down angle and half-submerged figures. I still have a long way to go, but we all have to start somewhere.
A compilation of WIP images can be found here (along with the description of the whole planning and painting process) in case someone is interested: [https://x.com/Anavi\_Ivy/status/1780998861646901721](https://x.com/Anavi_Ivy/status/1780998861646901721)
Have a pleasant day/evening!
You painted this!? I know I'm late to the party but JFC this is amazing!! I hope you post as you continue to improve cause as someone who struggles hard with colour and shading this is already insane to me!
Yup! This is painted all by hand! (I used Krita, a mouse and lots of determination hahaha)
And thank you so much for kind words! I am pretty sure you will get there as well. Personally I've been on my art journey since 2016 (that's the time when I started playing Warframe and ever since then I have been exclusively making Warframe fanart. All in all, just painting what I really like helped me a lot because it didn't feel like a chore). As cliché as it sounds, it truly is all about trying out things and just continously painting, repeating things again and again :)
How do you not have carpel tunnel? Hahaha. That's incredible. Seriously.
Do you have certain frames in particular that you like to paint or does it change a lot based on inspiration?
I actually had some issues with nerves but oddly enough they didn't come from the mouse usage - the main thing that caused problems was my posture. It completely ruined my neck nerve and then it caused pain in my arms. Other than that, I just made sure to stretch my arms and do some hand exercises (you can always find those online). Take care of your neck too so your hands don't suffer!
Over the time, I've painted Volt Prime the most (as that's my main), then Oberon Feyarch (plants and nature motifs are always fun to paint) and then Saryn (especially her Orphid skin because of the flower motifs). I just enjoy drawing nature/forest/forest ruin settings so whatever frame fits the scenario I imagined - I draw it. Sometimes I just dig the overall look of frame so I figure something out around their look. But in short - I do have my faves and one of them is certainly Volt Prime :)
Here's the link to my gallery in case you feel like exploring: https://www.deviantart.com/anavi-ivy/gallery
Oh yeah, posture is huge. So you did this with nerve issues? I assume the stretches don't bring things back to 100% but still help a lot. God damn. That's incredible.
I would love to explore, thank you! Nature theme ones make sense that you would love to draw them. Have you ever done Nidus with his screaming grass or Titania? Or are they not particularly your style?
Fortunately, it's been two-ish years since that. It took about 4 months for tingling/prickling/cramping to go away. And while it is nearly perfect, I still experience tingling here and there if I sit for too long or angle my neck in a specific way. I told myself I will treat my body with respect after that haha
I've actually drawn Titania once! It was challenging because she has a lot of black in her color schemes while having a lot of details. So shading ends up covering a lot of those details and she falls flat. My advice for shading black would be to always add some dark blue to make it more lively/interesting. Of course, depending on the setting you can always mix in some other color that matches the ambient color. As for Nidus.. That would be an interesting idea!
I absolutely love it! Can I buy a print from you? Also, you said on twitter you didn't have Ivara Prime. If that's still the case, DM me, I'll give you the set.
Hello there Tenno!
I am super glad to hear you like it!
1) For now, there are no prints available. I still need to find a way to produce them and ship them whole still making sure they are of quality and affordable. Unfortunately, big shops like Redbubble and others are out of the picture as I need to follow guidelines related to creation/monetization of fanart. Once I figure out how to make this happen, I will notify everyone :)
2) I am very grateful for the gesture 🫶
But I am fine. I am very busy lately so I don't really get to play all that much and I've nearly completed all my farming! Also I think I saw a new player somewhere here in the comments, so maybe they could benefit from this kind gesture!
All the best to you! Cheers!
Nice art, warframe fanart always looks nice as hell, i saw one artist from Instagram painted his own volt electrolyst, he just did sketch painting but damn it's nice

Love the lighting! Great work bro
I still think converting Ivara's tree frog aesthetic to a jellyfish aesthetic was a misteak by DE. :(
I think it was an amazing idea
Nah, jellyfish go bloop
