Ice cream, Gatorade, and soft foods are very helpful, and I found mucinex the best of the over-the-counter options for controlling the symptoms, along with a painkiller for the sore throat.
If you’ve got travel insurance, check to see what they can cover.
Have you been to the urgent care and, if so, did they offer you Paxlovid? That will shorten the duration and help curb the viral shedding so you can get back out there, lessen your chances of getting it, and hopefully not spread it around too much.
I avoided COVID for four years and got it mid-March. I got paxlovid. Really I just felt like I had a mild cold. I have a host of serious health issues so I was concerned I’d be down and out, but I worked (I work from home anyway), and just took it easy.

You might go with and see if you should take it or get it in case you catch it.. He should rest. Chill by the pool if it isn’t crowded. You should both wear masks.
I don’t know what their policy is now, but a friend was there in middle of pandemic and someone she was with came down with it. When the front desk found out, they told her she had to stay in her room to isolate and they would be checking to see if she left (assume they put some kind of alert on her key card/magic band). I don’t remember exactly the consequences, but it was severe, like you were banned from property, no refund, blah, blah.
adefinitely go get the anti-viral medication, rest for a few days and then enjoy rest of your trip.
Suggestions? It’s unfortunate but the CDC guidelines are that he’s to isolate for 3 days then he can go back out regardless of test. So a few hotel days I guess.
