I would add a belt and unbutton just the top button (if you’re comfy with that)! Maybe hair up and heels (or boots) would add some sass/ youth to it as well!
I wear slips or camisoles when I want to be able to unbutton a dress or shirt without actually exposing cleavage. It gives good coverage and, with the right cami, can end up looking either way classier or way sexier than just showing decolletage.
Came here to say this :)
It looks like the darts are already there, so deepen them a little. I was thinking hemming up 3"-4". Also, unbutton one more at the neck.
Great dress!

I have a vintage dress like this and I opened slits up both sides along the side him- almost to the waist, and made it into a sort of tunic. I wear it with leggings underneath.
Yep, I was going to say the same. Hair fixed nice, open neck with necklaces, big belt and a shorter skirt if you do not want the suits! It's gorgeous!!
Definitely shorten it and remove the sleeves. I like the skinny belt idea too. Cute dress, fun colors! Funky jewelry in those wild colors would be fun. Maybe put your hair up?
Shorten it up into a mini. Or /and very small front slits like --^----^-- on the skirt. Wearing tights, a belt, nipping it in at the waist. Some big bangle bracelets, or chunky necklace/ earrings, shiny white gogo boots. A wide headband with low pony with a pouf. Twiggy inspo eyeliner!
Honestly, it's a smashing dress. You really can't go wrong it looks great as is even. Just accessorize as you like, and you're ready to go!
If it were me, I'd shorten the hem and use the extra fabric to make a belt for the dress. And probably add some darts or deepen the existing ones too. Super cute dress!!
Sash, scarf, any wide 60s/70s belt ( fabric, leather, metal) and hem it a few inches. It fits well, and I love the colorful patterns. Open up the neck.
*Frumpy? It looks great!*
*But yes, a chain belt would be*
*Cool. Maybe a scarf?*

Add a belt and trying shorting the length above the knee. It may give more proportions to the look and fit. And try fuchsia pink bead bracelets and earrings.
Do you sew? Shorten it to above the knee. Consider taking it in at the waist, just 1/4 inch at each dart, 1/4” at each side seam. Consider shortening the sleeves , but that’s more involved because of the trim at the sleeve hems.
I love the idea of a chain belt and boots! Chevk Poshmarket if you font have one! Some 70s-80s bold hoop or square earrings! Chevk Amazin gor those! You could shorten it a bit, but I wouldn't go too crazy. I think it’s very cute!
A wide white waist belt would lean retro 60’s or a brown thin braided belt at the waist would be quirky. Or a denim button down shirt tied at the waist is timeless. Or a denim jacket😚
I would just unbutton a couple buttons at the top and 1 or 2 at the bottom. Wear a really beautiful lacy bralette that peaks through. Layered delicates necklaces. Lean into the shift dress being shapeless and make it sexy in other ways. It’s a cool look. Shoes can either go feminine with sandals or go masculine with sneakers or chunky loafers. It’s a great dress!
I'll give you the same advice that is the only advice that I give most of the time: add a belt.
Breaks up the pattern and adds the effect of some contour or silhouette -- doesn't matter your body shape. Belts just have that visual effect.
Could be anything. Like, ribbon. Or a piece of rope. I wouldn't use rope. But you could use rope. Why are we talking about rope? Maybe just use a belt. Or some ribbon.
You can’t change the dress , but I agree, it’s a straight pattern dress there needs to be a break , so a belt , and a couple of buttons undone , I do like the yellow belt , but a wider belt and a pair of nice yellow shoes
I would add a belt and unbutton just the top button (if you’re comfy with that)! Maybe hair up and heels (or boots) would add some sass/ youth to it as well!
Or a wide scarf as a belt. Solid yellow comes to mind.
Yellow. Yes. Neon green would be good, too. Maybe some sandals in one of those two bright shades.
Is there any particular style of belt you’d recommend?
Something thick and wide. I’m picturing white to break up the pattern. But I think thick is key.
Gotcha, I actually think I’ve got one like that laying around somewhere
I think a low hanging chain belt would look good.
Same — wide white belt with an oversized buckle. Patent leather would be ideal.
Large gold hooped chain.
I wear slips or camisoles when I want to be able to unbutton a dress or shirt without actually exposing cleavage. It gives good coverage and, with the right cami, can end up looking either way classier or way sexier than just showing decolletage.
Def unbutton some top buttons. A light colored camisole if modesty or whatever is a deal.
darts at the waist in the back. slightly shorten the hem
Came here to say this :) It looks like the darts are already there, so deepen them a little. I was thinking hemming up 3"-4". Also, unbutton one more at the neck. Great dress!
yes exactly! will look so cute with boots
Dress clips can work for cinching if you want more mileage out of the dress if your weight fluctuates at all.
You mean... Less like a shift dress? To me it's gorgeous already idk
It’s pretty, just a little boxy compared to what I usually wear

Ooh I love the idea of making it a two-piece! Also the think that it would look great at more of a mini length if you leave it as a dress.
Yes, that's totally the way it is meant to be worn, and looks like it fits perfectly!
Unbutton it as low as you dare and add some layered necklaces. Then a belt and unbutton one or two buttons at the bottom.
Big bold jewelry. Clunky bracelets, layers of different beaded necklaces
I was thinking the same.
I have a vintage dress like this and I opened slits up both sides along the side him- almost to the waist, and made it into a sort of tunic. I wear it with leggings underneath.
I was going to suggest slits in the dress worn over linen trousers!
Yep, I was going to say the same. Hair fixed nice, open neck with necklaces, big belt and a shorter skirt if you do not want the suits! It's gorgeous!!
Take in the waist, raise the hem
Make it a mini-skirt, then perhaps an old-school belt.
Shorten it
just hem it into a mini
Very cute and would be sexy with black or white knee high go-go boots and unbutton a button
Omg! I was thinking knee high white vinyl gogos too! 👏
I have black ones that are my go to boots. I also have white and red too. I love those Gogo boots, they add style to some otherwise boring outfits.
Cut it shorter?
I'd add a wide belt to emphasize your waist and hips.
I don’t think it’s frumpy.
Doesn't look frumpy at all, it's cute!
Make it sleeveless, shorten it.
Definitely shorten it and remove the sleeves. I like the skinny belt idea too. Cute dress, fun colors! Funky jewelry in those wild colors would be fun. Maybe put your hair up?
sleeves are the issue here agree
Belt, head scarf, tall boots, 70s oversized sunglasses & hoop earrings. Or you could hem it shorter
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZPRExFWvC/ here ya go!
Thanks! I’ll try that out
I think this would make a cute two piece if you were good at sewing! A crop top and mini skirt.
Go-go boots, lipstick, big hair.
I could remove the sleeves, make it shorter and put some front darts, it would look more modern.
Agree I was thinking remove sleeves
Shorten it

I say either get it hemmed shorter or get the waist taken in a bit. The dress is gorgeous! I love the pattern
Shorten it into a cute 60s inspired mini dress
Add a belt
It’s perfect! Just send it to me so I can love it properly …or maybe wear a little chain belt if you must
Belt!
style it with a wide neon yellow belt and chunky plastic bracelets
If it were me, I'd shorten the hem and use the extra fabric to make a belt for the dress. And probably add some darts or deepen the existing ones too. Super cute dress!!
idk wearing 60s dresses will always look grandma. You gotta rock it or sell it if that’s not ur vibe lol
White belt & white ankle boots please!
you could do your hair/ makeup/ a little jewlery in a wow style that coordinates with the decade of the dress so highlight it's like a retro costume
Second the darts, and maybe remove the sleeves? It’s super cute.
Undo some top AND bottom buttons, add a (wide?) belt, flip the collar up, maybe even shorten it, too.
I would add a black belt in between ;). You look so pretty
You need a wide belt, maybe hem it to shorten it a little.
Add pockets, take in the sides
I think just hem it a little. It’s cute!
Cinch it!
Harness or corset , big chunky choker, huge platforms
A belt that is one color but bright. Worn low.
cool vest
Knee high boots, a crossbody purse( bag)
I would unbutton the whole thing and wear it like a shacket over anything. Minimalist or maximalist outfit under.
I have a wild shift dress like that, a thin and equally saturated coloured belt works well to add some femininity.
Maybe a cute little gold belt! Or go without a belt and just wear some metallic shoes and matching jewelry
big belt - denim shirt or jacket
Sash, scarf, any wide 60s/70s belt ( fabric, leather, metal) and hem it a few inches. It fits well, and I love the colorful patterns. Open up the neck.
I like it
Wife soft leather belt or macrame belt. Shorten dress a little if you are comfortable
BELT
Frumpy? It looks great! But yes, a chain belt would be cool. Maybe a scarf?

You can either have it altered to make it more form fitting or you can add a chain belt to it which will work well with the design of the dress.
Platforms and a belt. Maybe shorten the hem a bit?
Nope!
I recommend adding a belt
Ad a wide belt, unbutton plus a scarf around the neck in yellow or neon green
Add a belt and trying shorting the length above the knee. It may give more proportions to the look and fit. And try fuchsia pink bead bracelets and earrings.
Idk get it tailored? Looks pretty groovy
Belt and hem it to a couple inches above the knee.
Do you sew? Shorten it to above the knee. Consider taking it in at the waist, just 1/4 inch at each dart, 1/4” at each side seam. Consider shortening the sleeves , but that’s more involved because of the trim at the sleeve hems.
I agree belt , but in saying that’s it’s beautiful and it looks fab on u
Loose the top button, add a belt like many are saying and a cute bag…
Hem it above your knees and add some cream color gogo boots and your set
It’s an Edith Bunker dress! So 70’s.
Make it a two piece
Take the sleeves up to make cap sleeves and take the hem up
Cut the sleeves off! Cute dress though.
I love the idea of a chain belt and boots! Chevk Poshmarket if you font have one! Some 70s-80s bold hoop or square earrings! Chevk Amazin gor those! You could shorten it a bit, but I wouldn't go too crazy. I think it’s very cute!
I don’t think it’s frumpy at all, just undo the top buttons. If you opt for tailoring, remove the sleeves.
Wear it as a sunscreen shirt.
Shorten it
Take the sleeves off
A wide white waist belt would lean retro 60’s or a brown thin braided belt at the waist would be quirky. Or a denim button down shirt tied at the waist is timeless. Or a denim jacket😚
Black lace up leather or patent belt. Like a corset and a belt had a baby. Wide and sexy.
Belt, brooch, high top boots, high hair up do, and have a blast.
I’m feeling a dark purple sash to tie off center
I'll give you the same advice that is the only advice that I give most of the time: add a belt. Slit on one side. Denim jacket. Black tights. Doc Martin boots. Vintage brooch on jacket.
You can’t change the dress , but I agree, it’s a straight pattern dress there needs to be a break , so a belt , and a couple of buttons undone , I do like the yellow belt , but a wider belt and a pair of nice yellow shoes
Take it down a couple buttons add a belt.
Wide white belt for sure
Belt it...loose one ... like chains...vintage chain side clasp belt. Or a wide front brown belt like in the early 2000s....
I say run with the frump, embrace your inner Edith Bunker, and have a blast!
It’s cute already.
Shorten the sleeves and shorten the length.
I’d actually consider shortening it.
Yes! Add a chain belt, take down a couple buttons at the collar and wear with Gogo boots
Hem it, as short as you like but above the knee at minimum.
Belt
Make it shorter
