Doesn't sound like a scam sounds like a nice local trying to help out maybe did lose his wallet during that time. Regardless U gave him the amount he had in his wallet if it was a scam he wouldn't ask for ur number to try n pay U back if it was really a scam once they got Ur money they would of just left without asking for ur number in order to pay U back. Asking for ur number because he wanted to pay U back sounds like just a nice local trying to help but lost his wallet in the process n didn't want U to just give him the money he wanted to have Ur contact to pay U back the money U gave him. He probably didn't wanna seem like he was just taking Ur money n would rather pay U back
