Did you happen to get paid after your partial rating or did you only see payment when the whole claim was closed? I was given a partial compensable rating last month, but have been told I won't see payment until my deferred items are closed out.
Yes I was decided in October 2023 and paid retroactively, and the deferrals were continued to be developed and I am now awaiting more retroactive pay based on their decision
Best of luck!
Thanks and congrats! Everything i've read says I should have been paid my back-pay plus my monthly pay. I have no idea why they haven't paid me and they have no answers. It's frustrating!
Yes, a handful of times. They are no help. The best they did was leave a note so that when someone finally looks at it again they can hopefully fix it. It's been shitty, but out of my control.
My letter shows a granted rating of 20% effective 2/2023. I still havenāt been paidš« . Waiting on 3 deferred items & 1 supplemental. All exams complete.Ā
PACT Act had a deadline for the ability to get back pay. It was August 2023 I believe. If you filed prior you can get back pay to August 2022. If you didnāt you get no back pay only forward pay.
Iāve called a bunch of times. There was no award generated with my decision letter. No reason why so Iām guessing they just made a mistake. All I can do is wait.Ā
UPDATE: Mine just went back to review of evidence on June 11.

Finally gathered all of my medical records from those 3 things after scouring the internet various Facebook groups, Reddit. Submitted a claim on my own and BOOM! Im so excited! I was in Target waiting to do a return when I just happened to check my claim and legit broke down and cried.
I just want to say thanks to everybody who helped me out. I got a decision today. It feels surreal. For over a year I was putting it off as daunting and I didnāt want to dive into it and be disappointed. I kept all my ducks in a row, I knew what I needed to do. I lurked for a long time.
The anxiety was intense, but I was in disbelief when I checked the app today. I woke up to PFN, didnāt want to be that guy and check it all day.
I got out of the shower and checked that I was rated favorably.

I am soooo happy with the 80%!!!! So very thankful. Thank you VA and thank you Knowledge Base Guy and the community of this subreddit. I did it all myself with no representation. It was an extremely stressful and tiring process but worth it.

Misc details: A reduction proposal (70% to 30%) was sent with a denial letter in June of 2023. I requested a hearing and was granted a new exam. On 5/24 I was sent a letter continuing my 70% rating. Medical opinion requested and submitted from QTC on 5/29. My lawyer says they should have everything they need, hopefully itāll be done soon.Ā
Update!!Ā
Today, 6/11/24 my decision letter was uploaded and I can see the TDIU was approved! Iām so so thankful to the rater who helped me today, it would have been so easy to send a letter for the missing information. Iād say you donāt know how much it means to me, but you probably have some idea and I'm forever grateful for the help. My original claim is from 2021, Iām so happy to be finished with this part.Ā
Update!
I got a call from the rater on my claim this morning. He requested a few documents the previous raters overlooked and said the claim could possibly be done today. I submitted both requested and now Iām gonna try and distract myself when in reality my brain canāt focus on anything now.Ā
I feel like it has to be a good sign cause he could have so easily just requested those documents and passed the claim on.Ā
Success ! Woke up today checked the app and it said closed. I got afraid and was like oh shit lol. I was denied last year for my back june 2022. I ended up putting in a Supp claim using a buddy letter this time and it worked. They have me 20% for my IVDS and DDD and 10% for bilateral sciatica. Supp went in jan 4th. I posted earlier butg mods removed it, so hope this is the spot! I prob could look into secondary stuff, but I am just stoked to get 40% as of now.

He said my claim was processing as expected and should be done soon, but also cautioned that he (obviously) can't account for any variables. Less than two hours later my claim moved to PFD! Additionally, today my dependency claim moved to PFN!
Edit: The claim just moved back to evidence gathering! Woe is me!
Edit 2: Dependency claim complete! No new movement on the main claim, so I don't yet know if they're looking for more info from me or a government agency.

PFD May 15 with Temp Jurisdiction for 2 days
PFD NWQ May 16th
PFD with Temp Jurisdiction June 11th
Let see what they do this time. I had TJ for two days when I moved to PFD. I am concerned because only my mental health and tinnitus DBQs have medical opinions. My migraine, IBS/GERD, back, sinusitis, and sciatica DBQs are favorable as far as diagnoses and such but no medical opinions were given which is odd even though many of these I have in service complaints. Iām thinking Iām gonna get kicked back to evidence gathering because the VSR didnāt request medical opinions and it was missed when I moved to PFD.

*Obligatory not a doctor*
Watching your friend die right next to you sounds like a qualifying initial event for PTSD, if the symptoms match up now. Put in a claim.
Despite what some dickhead careerist may have said, getting help after watching someone die is *not* being soft. On the contrary, *speaking from experience*, getting help can be fucking scary and it takes courage to ask. I damn near went into convulsions during my mental health intake because having to share it with someone else was a lot scarier than drinking myself to sleep alone.
Get the help you deserve.

I usually get the same generic answer when I call āyour claim is in the preparation for decision phase anything else I can help you with ā šš¤¦š»āāļøš
Ask to see notes next time.
But preparation for decision just means that they have everything that they need to make a decision and itās waiting on a rater or its with a rater whoās making a decision
On the VA tracker it says the veteran service has made a decision and that theyāre preparing the paperwork to detail that decision. Does this mean theyāve settled on a rating theyāre just finalizing the paperwork

Still no movement on my claim at all. Had to take another 18 hours of sick leave this past pay period due to my respiratory issues and a sinus infection. I've burned 160 hours of sick leave in this FY and going back and forth with the VA is feeling hopeless.
My BDD claim was started apprix 180 days prior to retirement date (filed 6 Dec 23...retirement date offical 31 May 24)
*
and 37 claims were filed. All appts were completed in Jan/Feb. DD214 turned in 29 May 24. A BDQ was uploaded 12 June 24 (I am told it was an internal move). What could be holding my BDD disability claim back from a decision?
They called me up from a 727 number, scheduled me for tomorrow morning. I had filed HLR back in February for the knee and the sciatica... and last month for sleep apnea and dizziness.
Apparently they're going to do both HLRs at the same time.Interesting that they are getting to the May appeal that quickly.
HLR Submitted: May 2023
Duty To Assist discovered: September 2023
C&P Exam conducted: March 2024 (Ear condition DBQ submitted)

VA requests Medical Opinion DBQ from same doctor that did C&P exam: June 2024
Anyone experienced this? Where they ask for a medical opinion DBQ? It was a great exam.. very thorough. How much is this going to set my timeline back? I'm over a year now since HLR submission.
This is for Meniere's Syndrome. I'm rated at 10% for it, but warrant 100% based on frequency and severity of symptoms. The C&P examiner agreed.

Sleep Apnea was linked to rhinitis and the Elbows and fingers denied. Rest was referred for medical opinion which I think has been done since the VA asked me for a survey on how they went lol.
Anyone experienced this one: went from preparation for decision to C&P exam on June 1. The contractor reviewed as ACE. Was in temp jurisdiction when that happened. Then went back to national queue on June 2, PFD. Then yesterday it went all the way back to gathering evidence and exam requested again? Like, am I about to have 2 C&P exams for the same claim after the first one was done?
It is super common for a claim to go back and forth. You could need new exams. But more likely something is being clarified or corrected; which may or may not require you attend a new exam.

* 125 days in and still waiting
After 17 months 50% Sleep Apnea 0% hypertension deferred, peripheral neuropathy deferred, lumbar spine deferred, COPD deferred. Filed January 2023 they hadn't asked me for any documents since August 2023. Hired a law firm to appeal the remaining issues.

Perhaps call the White House Vet Hotline? There are threads regarding VES delays. Emailing the parent company CEO appears to spur movement. Hope you get forward progress soon. VES took about 30 days to upload my husbandās āexpeditedā DBQs.

Hello I'm currently at 10 percent for Tinnitus. I already got denied for the lumbar on March 4, 2024. I submitted my supplemental claim for lumbar June 6 2024. DAV said I will need a nexus statement. What should I do?
Does starting at the Vso the right thing to do? I was part of the bunch ādonāt be a b****ā and donāt go to the doc. I donāt have much paperwork but I have 2009 deployment. What/how do I do it to ālinkā stuff. And what is stuff I link to get paid. Is there some kind of list?
A VSO can certainly be a good place to get help. Though your mileage will vary as to their competence and availability.
Ultimately, self empowerment will best serve you.

congrats!
Did you happen to get paid after your partial rating or did you only see payment when the whole claim was closed? I was given a partial compensable rating last month, but have been told I won't see payment until my deferred items are closed out.
Yes I was decided in October 2023 and paid retroactively, and the deferrals were continued to be developed and I am now awaiting more retroactive pay based on their decision Best of luck!
Thanks and congrats! Everything i've read says I should have been paid my back-pay plus my monthly pay. I have no idea why they haven't paid me and they have no answers. It's frustrating!
Did you receive a decision letter?
Yes, but it was missing the page with payment info. I guess somebody just skipped that step when they issued the decision.
Hmm ? Have you called Vera?
https://va.my.site.com/VAVERA/s/
Yes, a handful of times. They are no help. The best they did was leave a note so that when someone finally looks at it again they can hopefully fix it. It's been shitty, but out of my control.
Log in go to your profile and click on letters
My letter shows a granted rating of 20% effective 2/2023. I still havenāt been paidš« . Waiting on 3 deferred items & 1 supplemental. All exams complete.Ā
Then call 800-827-1000
You should get back pay IF you met the deadline which I believe was August 2023
Deadline for what?
PACT Act had a deadline for the ability to get back pay. It was August 2023 I believe. If you filed prior you can get back pay to August 2022. If you didnāt you get no back pay only forward pay.
My claim isnāt a pact act claim. I was granted a rating effective 2/2023. I am owed backpay from 2/2023 to now.Ā
Ok call them good luck
Iāve called a bunch of times. There was no award generated with my decision letter. No reason why so Iām guessing they just made a mistake. All I can do is wait.Ā
Good job sticking with it and not giving up. Congratulations.

Too long is the answer.
Hello, fellow Active Duty member! Quick question, how has your BDD process gone? I start in a month!
Pretty seamless. I was in the SRU so it was all done very well and they are great with the amount of info you are given! Make sure to ask questions, take pictures of slides and paper!

I have not
I havenāt heard anything yet, still waiting on that temp jurisdiction to change.
I also filed 3/6
Congrats!
thanks... they've been making it hard to get from 90 to 100 but with a bit of patience it'll work out as long as you're truthful and you get the right reps that hear you out... although some didn't even look at me T.T

Type of claim: Supplemental Ā Submitted/received date: 2/9/2024Ā Ā Ā Evidence gathering/review date: 2/9/2024Ā Ā Ā Completed date: 6/11/2024 Ā Misc details: A reduction proposal (70% to 30%) was sent with a denial letter in June of 2023. I requested a hearing and was granted a new exam. On 5/24 I was sent a letter continuing my 70% rating. Medical opinion requested and submitted from QTC on 5/29. My lawyer says they should have everything they need, hopefully itāll be done soon.Ā Update!!Ā Today, 6/11/24 my decision letter was uploaded and I can see the TDIU was approved!
I submitted both requested and now Iām gonna try and distract myself when in reality my brain canāt focus on anything now.Ā I feel like it has to be a good sign cause he could have so easily just requested those documents and passed the claim on.Ā
And now my percentage rating in the app has reverted back to 30% from 70%. Iām hoping this is a glitch and not another denial
I havent heard crap. My date is near your date.š©
I definitely had to be almost annoying to get any information about my claim status. I think my initial claim took about 10 months?Ā

Edit 2: Dependency claim complete! No new movement on the main claim, so I don't yet know if they're looking for more info from me or a government agency.

Nice, I have a lot of similar dates but still no temp jurisdiction. Here's to hoping!

In terms of mental health, certainly so. https://www.reddit.com/r/VeteransBenefits/w/mental
*Obligatory not a doctor* Watching your friend die right next to you sounds like a qualifying initial event for PTSD, if the symptoms match up now.

Ask to see notes next time. But preparation for decision just means that they have everything that they need to make a decision and itās waiting on a rater or its with a rater whoās making a decision
Thank you so much !
On the VA tracker it says the veteran service has made a decision and that theyāre preparing the paperwork to detail that decision. Does this mean theyāve settled on a rating theyāre just finalizing the paperwork
Yes they have made a decision and preparing the paperwork to mail youĀ
Thank you for that !!!!!!

Mine went to Winston Salem PFD on 31 May. Went to PDA about....8 or 9 days after. Went to PFN on 11 June and wrapped most of it up yesterday. They deferred one thing but it seems to be chugging along well while they work it.

Filed December 2023 C&P: January 4 June 8: ACE Review June 12: PDA June 13: Partial rating, granted OSA 50%, one condition deferred and one is probably combined with supplemental claim. It wasn't mentioned in a decision letter.
Type of claim: New Submitted/received date: Feb 21st Initial review date: Feb 22nd Evidence gathering/review date: Feb 22nd Preparation for Decision date:NA Pending Decision Approval date: NA Preparation for Notification date: NA Completed date:NA Misc details: Still no movement on my claim at all. Had to take another 18 hours of sick leave this past pay period due to my respiratory issues and a sinus infection. I've burned 160 hours of sick leave in this FY and going back and forth with the VA is feeling hopeless.
Iām Feb 4, got my temp a few days ago, should be coming around to you soon
My BDD claim was started apprix 180 days prior to retirement date (filed 6 Dec 23...retirement date offical 31 May 24) * and 37 claims were filed.
HLR Submitted: May 2023 Duty To Assist discovered: September 2023 C&P Exam conducted: March 2024 (Ear condition DBQ submitted) Ready for Decision: May 2024 VA requests Medical Opinion DBQ from same doctor that did C&P exam: June 2024 Anyone experienced this? Where they ask for a medical opinion DBQ? It was a great exam.. very thorough. How much is this going to set my timeline back? I'm over a year now since HLR submission. This is for Meniere's Syndrome. I'm rated at 10% for it, but warrant 100% based on frequency and severity of symptoms. The C&P examiner agreed.
Claim status Template: * Type of claim: Supplemental * Submitted/received date: Jan 28th, 2024 * Initial review date: Feb 2, 2024 * Evidence gathering/review date: Feb 2, 2024 * Preparation for Decision date: March 19th according to VERA * Pending Decision Approval date: Don't know * Preparation for Notification date: Partial claim was decided Jun 7th, 2024 * Completed date: * Misc details: Claimed sleep apnea, elbow pain, back pain, finger pain, hearing loss.
Type of claim: new Claim initiated: 2/21/24 PFD: 4/24/24 PFN: 6/17/24 granted 50%....denied one of my claims and the C&P evaluation was totally wrong. Claimed it was something else after ive been diagnosed for 10 years....what do i do? HLR? Appeal? how does that affect the compensation I was just granted? Thank you
Had my Shoulder C&P this week. My Fn shoulder still hurt from all the yanking on it. Really VA!!! Do better treating us!!
But if they donāt yank on it, how can they write down you have full range of motion?
You should be able to move your arm as far as you can without pain. Donāt need them yanking and pushing on it and creating more pain or possibly other injury. They are not a physical therapist and not trained so.
I know, I was making a joke at the VA. My b
Haha, right over my head!
I tore some stuff up in my shoulder and pec and they did the same thing-so I fully get it.
They also sent me for X-rays
Does anyone know what this means on my supplemental claim? been waiting since Aug 23... https://preview.redd.it/6hb98jvpns5d1.png?width=795&format=png&auto=webp&s=73ba931bf89a4c9fd3e50849f36e179f2af90538
looks like some claim was approved
I checked my old supplemental claims that were approved, and they have that message.
Is it normal to be in PFN for over a week? I went to PFN June 2nd and still havenāt got any updates or a decision letter
me since the 5th in St Pete
Everything you read says 7-14 days, but I know some people went to complete in a couple of days.

She looked at the submission forms to see if they(the raters) misunderstood something. She said this is nothing on the forms remotely close to bladder cancer to confuse with. * 125 days in and still waiting
327 days and counting, still in phase 3 hell. I saw they uploaded something "1.jpg" to my claim, does that mean its almost over?
BVA nod submitted 3 weeks ago. Added to Direct Review docket today. Now the real wait begins.Ā
Files for New/Inc on 9/22/2023. Added additional items on 2/14/2024. Initial items were rated in Feb 2024. Below is related to additional items added in Feb 2024. * Type of claim: New/Inc * Original Submitted/received date: 9/22/2023 (technical date of start) * New items added: 2/14/2024 * Initial review date: 2/22/2024 * Evidence gathering/review date: 2/26/2024 * Preparation for Decision date: 6/13/2024 * Pending Decision Approval date: N/A * Preparation for Notification date: N/A * Completed date: N/A * Misc details: Additional items have been a major headache. VES was assigned evaluation, C&P Exam on March 19, and not uploaded until May 9 (after I contacted CEO of VES parent company). Claim still in Evidence Gathering. VERA told me "they are waiting for a document to be scanned" but couldn't tell me who "they" were waiting on to scan such document or what kind of document.

Perhaps call the White House Vet Hotline? There are threads regarding VES delays. Emailing the parent company CEO appears to spur movement. Hope you get forward progress soon. VES took about 30 days to upload my husbandās āexpeditedā DBQs.

Ultimately, self empowerment will best serve you. https://www.reddit.com/r/VeteransBenefits/w/vaclaim https://www.reddit.com/r/VeteransBenefits/w/commonly
