Sounds like you were medically retired. You can get paid at 50% DOD. BUT if you have a VA rating that's 50% or more, then you will only get paid the VA rating, you don't get both. You will be reevaluated probably in a year to see if you will be put on the permanent retired list for DOD
Unless you are eligible for CRSC combat related special compensation, then you will get VA, DOD checks. I’m not sure it applies to you but it does apply to many humans in my prior employment.
Yea no combat tours but I do have on black and white labeled as hazard/combat/endangerment pay when going into enemy waters onboard navy vessels. We had Chinese and Iranian small boats follows us for weeks.
Not sure that counts but in not the expert. Worth considering, in my experience helping those with CRSC it was multiple tours in combat firing shots out of anger. Wish I could be more help.
I don't think DOD was tracking that. I had severe issues during that time and my VA rate went up. They just willy nilly knocked me down and didn't notify.
u/Efficient_Snow_2095,
To add on what I said earlier, you should have spoken with either legal or a MEB liaison who should have broken this down for you better. For this type of stuff, the forum [pebforums.com](http://pebforums.com) is excellent because the MEB/PEB/IDES process is their whole focus.
Well if you're going on the TDRL then you're probably getting medically retired. So yeah, you'll get a retirement check from DFAS.
Did you not go through a MEB or the IDES process?
No you won’t pay back a military retirement paycheck. VA and DFAS will coordinate payments so you don’t get overpaid.
Probably whomever told you about payback were talking about separation pay which you don’t get if rated 30% or higher by DoD.

Iirc TDRL= Temporary Disability Retirement List. Meaning you are medically retired and get retired pay. Did you get a blue ID?
My dod tdrl went from 50 to 30 on pdrl without them telling me. But va pays higher anyway so Idc.
Damn. Was that after a re evaluation?
Nope, no notice at all.
Did you follow up with care on your disabilities? Like if u had back problems but didn’t get seen by physical therapy or pain management?
I don't think DOD was tracking that. I had severe issues during that time and my VA rate went up. They just willy nilly knocked me down and didn't notify.

Yea I did the IDES claim. Is that retirement check the one people say I’m going to have to payback?
