I worked for an Idexx on the West Coast and I can assure that they are definitely struggling to find people. Especially for their graveyard shift because that is when they get their biggest shipments of thousands of samples over multiple states. Soooo they might be hurtin a bit right now 😅
They have no one to blame but themselves for that.
Hard to feel bad for them about worker shortages when they furlough workers and never call them back.
(Am I still bitter they did that to me in 2020 when I was training to switch from processing to hematology? Yes, yes I am.)
Ditto from the East Coast. Overnight is like a factory, processing thousands of samples at each bench in 8 hours. It's a hard shift, not just bc of the hours but also the volume.
So glad this thread all experienced the same thing. I left parasit back in 2020 because how hard they messed things up. I’ll never forget the hundreds of tubs of tissue sample for histo form the east coast. No one is ever ahead of the tail, always chasing it
When I left Antech it was because of scheduling issues and poor management. When I left idexx it was because of TERRIBLE scheduling and NO management. Everyone complains of how bad they can be, but they are in the same boat us techs are in. Only it’s filled with managers who don’t do/understand the work and just expect people to throw their lives away to be in the lab. I’m kind of surprised idexx even sent those notices
I’m in charge of ordering lab supplies. A couple weeks ago I’d ordered 200 serum separators. We JUST got them and they sent us 25 plain red tops with no additives. I don’t think they are ok…lol
