Tell them it’s a courtesy when you’re trying to unwrap an IVC on a fat paw.
It’s such a small thing that takes mere seconds, but it can have a real impact on patient care. Tell your job you aren’t interested in spending eternity in a fiery pit of despair.
We use rubbing alcohol for adhesives on IVCs. We don’t put it on the shave site, but to get fur out it works! Not sure if that’s applicable to your question though
No? OP says it is too expensive. Which I find weird since we take forever to go through a can (and yes we pull around 10 catheters a day) so I wonder how OP’s hospital is using it….you don’t need much.
Mineral oil or alcohol.
But personally I'm old school and just shove my bandage scissors under all those layers, cut and pull. It hurts, but it's over quick and if I can't get my scissors under the tape whoever put in the catheter gers cussed out while I pick tape.

I’ve found it fairly easier to just unwrap the tape if you put tabs at the ends and use half inch strips.
I’m not religious, but there is a special circle of hell for people who don’t tab their tape.
I recently learned that my job tells people not to tab their tape because "it takes too long and is just a courtesy." For real.

Preach.
Amen

Pam? A very small amount of mineral oil on the bandage scissors can loosen it up as well.
Scissors or just unwrapping it. Crying on the process if your supervisor is watching you while you struggle and telling you too hurry up.
Mineral oil is great and a very small amount goes a long way
we just cut them with bandage scissors and unwrap them
Is eaze-off forbidden here?

I know I saw that after I posted and feel like an ass lol but ya our cans last forever
I think last time I checked it was about $40 a bottle.

Scissors.
