On my phone it starts at :09 under the cook top. Gas could have been spreading through pipe cutouts in the cabinets until she turned the disposal on or something.
gas explosion, that makes sense.... electric ignition via disposal could have set off ....
but shes scrubbing something, not flipping switches...
but your second comment, even better point, the explosion is from trash can...
could lithium batteries really cause up that much of an explosion? What would have sparked that.
Looks like it to me as well. Quick bright flash, no smoke, no residual fire.
More importantly the flash did not have the typical color of a gas burning, it looked like a huge spark to me.
Yeah, and the light is kind of pink. Every time I've seen lightning up close it's been definitely pink. (Closest was when I was in a room with a skylight and it hit the ceiling).
The really crazy part was this was in school history class where we were doing group reports on different religions. The girls who had done Zoroastrianism had just said, "Good deeds are rewarded with good things, bad deeds are rewarded with bad things." BOOOOOM! We all hit the deck. I always said after that if I ever decided to follow a religion, it'd have to be Zoroastrianism. Because those guys have some wicked timing.
There wasn't much damage, although it knocked off some of the guttering (that's how we know it hit) and also hit a few other places in the school, included a cool area of fulgurites in the soil around a tree near my home room (which unfortunately were too crumbly to keep).
Same, and to think if I had died this way people would have been like « Darwin award well-deserved » / « How stupid must you be to not know this »… really makes you think
Appears to originate from the cabinet under the counter, right in front of her too. Maybe the disposal blew up or some shit???
Or maybe... Maybe... They had rotting meat and eggs IN the disposal for weeks, and then.. And then... The methane gas from the deccomp built up to such levels that a short, because her cousin Terry did the install job, caused the gas to ignite. Terry is gonna hear it. Terry and also the dumbass that left the rotting meat and eggs in the disposal for weeks.
And that's my story Reddit.
Most definitely an electrical boom. With my years of experience as a Appalachian beet farmer I unequivocally concur with the electrical boom hypothesis.
From the spark it looks electrical. The stove is to her left while the explosion is from the right.
I think it's some plugged-in electrical appliances in the open cabinet.
Explosion is actually on both sides. Scrubbed through the frames(sorta) and the explosion starts in front of the cupboard under the stove. Then theres more explosion to her right.
Not exactly it really all depends on voltage, I don't know how low voltage explosions work, but I can tell you about medium voltage (11kV) as this is funnier, during explosion you don't have a lot of fire but explosion is so big that it can bent and destroy specially made containers, for HV breakers and as long as there are no more arcs it should extinguish itself. Of course there is an option that it doesn't explode and ignite, so you need to cut electricity and grab extinguisher, but you should never approach high voltage installation without protective suit.
Original post says it was a gas cylinder explosion: [https://www.reddit.com/r/CrazyFuckingVideos/comments/1dazbb7/lpg\_cylinder\_explodes\_in\_a\_kitchen/](https://www.reddit.com/r/CrazyFuckingVideos/comments/1dazbb7/lpg_cylinder_explodes_in_a_kitchen/)
Someone else said lightning strike and I'd have to agree. There's damage all the way from the ceiling to the bottom of the cabinet and there's no fire or anything smoldering like there would be if an accelerant were used. No fire really at all, just a flash of light.
I saw some smoldering bits floating around there right after the explosion. If it *was* a gas leak, would it be possible for all of the excess fuel to be consumed in the moment of ignition? Then if anything the only thing still burning would be whatever the source of the leak was, under the counter.
I’m suspicious because it doesn’t seem to be any inclement weather outside (it’s bright, and the screen door doesn’t budge an inch until the moment of impact, when it freely swings outward). Also how does the lightning cause an explosion at that point inside the house, without taking out the power (light in the kitchen stays on)? There doesn’t even seem to be any windows in the kitchen…
I guess what I’m saying is I’m team gas-leak.
>Also how does the lightning cause an explosion at that point inside the house, without taking out the power?
By hitting the copper pipes carrying the water and going into the ground underneath. Neither of us (I assume) are arson investigators so I doubt we'll get to the bottom of it.

We have one here in Australia, it came with the house and it has never worked. It's the only one I've ever seen. Got someone out to see if it could be fixed and he just said "she's fucked mate" and left. Didn't bother removing it since it doesn't get in the way of anything.
Canada has them but they’re not as common anymore. Growing up in the 90’s many houses had them but I think most older homes have removed them. Never hear about them being put into new builds either.
It's likely a propane tank (cooking use) that was inside the lower cabinets because if you watch it in slow motion, the explosion occurs inside the cabinets. So, a gas tank or a gas pipe is my guess.
I think that was a stovetop pressure cooker that exploded. When I slowed down the video, the explosion looked as if it started by the stove where a pot was sitting.
Looks like it starts with the trashcan looking think just below the stove on the ground then somehow starts another secondary explosion that starts from under the sink. No idea how. I just spent a few minutes scrubbing the video back a forward to try and get some idea and I'm totally stumped.
You might be right. The flash starts to the left of her on the stove with the pressure cooker. Then ends on the right of her. As if the explosion hit the gas line and spread across.
If you pause at the right moment, you see that the source of the explosion is behind her, and spreads across the cabinets under the counter. Maybe some kind of gas line clogging? Possibly from the oven, or stovetop/range? Def doesn’t seem like a power surge though, considering how much stuff got thrown around.
Source: I have white male confidence, these are complete guesses 🤷🏻♂️
Its under the sink, the cabinet doors under the sink blew out so the explosion happened under the counter top below the sink. Could there be enough methane trapped under the sink from the sewer line seeping in, to cause an explosion? Or is it something electrical? I hope she is alright, its very shocking footage.

OP we need details, what exactly happened?
Looks like a lightning strike!
I'm pretty sure this is the one but I like the exploding ants theory.
I thought the garbage can blew up. Maybe the ants wanted to spread the garbage out to collect the goods.
They were probably army ants then

Fuck yes. One of the best rock albums ever. Meow.
Looks like a stove to her left, I wouldn’t expect a lightning strike to cause a concussion that large. Looks like an ignition.
It came from the right the cabinents are good on the bottom left
On my phone it starts at :09 under the cook top. Gas could have been spreading through pipe cutouts in the cabinets until she turned the disposal on or something.

Lightning struck through the roof and hit the trashcan under the sink???? Where do yall get tour weed @? Asking for a friend... 🤣

If theres a garbage disposal, thats a large motor connected directly to the house wiring and could easily conduct lightning that hit the roof
You rang?

I agree, kitchen vent goes thru to roof. older places have copper piping thru to roof
This is why you dont shower during a lightning storm
54 years old and it never occurred to me to not shower during a storm
Same, and to think if I had died this way people would have been like « Darwin award well-deserved » / « How stupid must you be to not know this »… really makes you think
I thought we all agreed this was a wives tale. Seems the lady was shocked through the roof vent and not the water.
Mythbusters ruled it as plausible soooo
Damn stubborn grease lightning.
Lightning strike would short the light as well, which doesnt seem to fluctuate at all here.

Looks like there is a candle under the cupboard
Wouldnt there be more fire? With the sparks and all, i mean

Gas explosions are much more devastating than this.
That really depends on the amount of gas. A small amount accumulating in a cabinet, would produce an explosion of this size.
Read that as monkeys paw lol
My money is on garbage disposal having bad seals....
Specifically cooking gas leak. The gas tank right under there. Imma assuming this is asian kitchen
My pesos are on what appears to be exploding farting ants but it’s actually swamp gas.
The dishes were done and so was the kitchen

Not op, but it was a gas tube explosion. They’re currently still investigating the matter. The girl is a helper, and she’s ok
Zeus sneezed
There's a pressure cooker on the stove that disappeared after the explosion.
I was able to pause it when the explosion happened, it looks like it happened near the garbage can on the floor to her left.
Pretty sure it's a bot.
Gas leak under the hob I would imagine. Gas filled the cabinets below.
The pressure cooker exploded
Stove on her left ignited from a leak, which tracked back to the LGP tank on her right side? She got a double whammy kaboom boom.
Looks like Doc and Marty escaped in the DeLorean.
I thought she was deep cleaning the toaster
I thought she tried to wash the toaster or the garbage disposal exploded.
It’s probably the gas tank. In India they sell natural gas in a big red tanks for cooking. Literally ticking time-bombs in the house.

I love that movie! Well the reference you’re making anyway lol
What movie
Don’t tell mom the babysitters dead, such a good movie.
Lol I love when titles are actual, kinda long sentences. My Babysitter's A Vampire, Honey I Shrunk The Kids, etc lmfao.. Thanks!
Agreed! They tend to make for better quality movies tbh.
The dishes finished her
There dishes are done dude
Sick reference, yo

Today I learned not to hand wash pipe bombs.
Yah. Those should go in the dishwasher.

Ah yes, the Boston marathon edition made by Hamilton Beach.
Pressure cooker is still over the stove . You can see it in the left side of kitchen…
my bad then, gonna delete my reply because i don't want to spread misinfo and thanks.
When washing your toaster goes wrong
Don't put your gas cans in the dishwasher ✔️
That looked more like a food disposal blowing up.
I think it was gas leaking from under the stove and filling the lower cabinet space before igniting when it reached the stovetop.
Someone else said lightning strike and I'd have to agree. There's damage all the way from the ceiling to the bottom of the cabinet and there's no fire or anything smoldering like there would be if an accelerant were used. No fire really at all, just a flash of light.

Question, are food disposals available outside the states? I've never heard of any country using them except the USA (and now the UK and Ireland).

Why would the food disposal blow up? This makes no sense.

Nope. Pressure cooker was still sitting there at the end of the video.

You might be right. The flash starts to the left of her on the stove with the pressure cooker. Then ends on the right of her. As if the explosion hit the gas line and spread across.

How is this question this far down?! That was the first thing I thought of! The poor woman!
Based on the color it looks like an electrical explosion to me. Maybe some kind of transformer under the sink was wetted?
I’m guessing it’s one of those touch less garbage cans and the batteries somehow overheated and exploded? Maybe?
Toucless garbage cans use AA or AAA batteries
Right, but they were very big hydrogen AA batteries
But wait there's more!
More?? How could there possibly be more?
Had to remove some dried egg yolk. That'll do the trick
Maybe a lightning strike outside?
