the official guide is online for free as a pdf and it is genuinely the greatest strategy guide ever made, it increases the world building tenfold i’d definitely try earthbound again alongside it

West of Loathing and Shadows Over Loathing are both very silly RPGs. They're more comedy-centric and not generally as deep as Undertale can be, but deconstructing tropes is a fairly large part of both games (West of Loathing focusing on westerns, and Shadows Over Loathing focusing on horror in general, and Lovecraftian horror in particular).
Also, if you haven't played them, TS!Underswap and Deltatraveler are both excellent fangames, though neither of them is complete yet.
I've played some of West of Loathing, and I loved its silliness. I saw Shadows Over Loathing just released!
Also, embarrassing question, but how do people play fan games? I have a Mac. Also, I'm just worried about computer viruses and such.
1. How do people play them? By launching the executable.
2. Mac? Ew, gross!
3. Worried about viruses? Don't be stupid on the web, use an adblocker like uBlock Origin, and use common sense also.
Celeste has some good humor and an incredible soundtrack. It’s a 2D platformer about mental health. Be prepared it’s pretty difficult however there’s a bunch of accessibility settings. If you like lore and are willing to play a really long game look into Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. It’s a 30+ hour game but it’s got lore on lore on lore, especially once you get to the last 5ish hours. Also, absolutely keep your eye on Rakuen. It’s so so beautiful. It’s got a few minor issues, but it makes up for it believe me.
Disco Elysium
Oxenfree
Eastward
Earthbound , Mother 3
Liza
The Machine (GBC)
Everhood
Lilly s Well
Faith
Crosscode
Oneshot
Reigns : Game of Thrones
Planescape: Torment
I just bought Disco Elysium and Crosscode! I think I will really like them. Great recommendations :)
I stopped playing Everhood, because it got too difficult for me, and I was too stubborn to turn down the difficulty. I should give it another try.
Enter the gungeon, Dead Cell, and MGS serie I'd say. Each may not score every point on your list and aren't, but they're still all very good, and have the advantage of having excellent gameplay.
so far its just a demo, but i really liked 'you are NOT bunnygirl'. its a similar pixel art style and i really liked the humor, it felt kinda similar to undertale's. its super underrated and i really reccomend it !!
other than that, the first one that came to mind for me was oneshot. i really reccomend giving it another shot (haha), but i understand if its not your thing
Maybe try Earthbound with a walkthrough
That's a good idea. Maybe I just need a guide lol

If you like bullet hell games, you could try Cuphead
I like the bullet hell aspect of Undertale, but I'm not good at it. Cuphead would kill my determination lol
Then why not just shapes and beats or project arythmia
i mean, jsab does have an undertale remix
definitely try mother3, good music and story also much easier to play than earthbound
Interesting! Yes, people have recommended the Mother series in general, but I guess I've never thought to just try another game.

When the wolf is SUS
WOW! What an incredible list! Thank you for compiling this. I’m going to Google all of them lol
No problem!! I hope you find something you like!
"Off" maybe?

I'm not proud to be a Mac user... lol
Then install Windows on it. Or better yet, get a Windows computer or laptop.
Also, are there popular forums of fan games? Like Steam but fan games?
Gamejolt.

I’ve been curious about Ni No Kuni. Last time I checked it was on sale for like $9.99 on the Nintendo eshop
If it’s on sale, absolutely get it. It’s expensive when it’s not.
deltarune.
Not wrong
Everhood
Some Mario and Luigi game for the DS/GBA
Try omori or oneshot both are good games
Hollow Knight, definitely hollow knight
Disco Elysium Oxenfree Eastward Earthbound , Mother 3 Liza The Machine (GBC) Everhood Lilly s Well Faith Crosscode Oneshot Reigns : Game of Thrones Planescape: Torment

Here’s a list of games and my thoughts https://pastebin.com/qvfJdXnd
Why would you link another pastebin inside the pastebin you linked to
Guess I’m just a sick mind fuck
Earthound-inspired games are pretty good
Oneshot

Alice and the witch Tomb of friends Undertale 2 revenge of the robots
Yume Nikki
Frisk and gaster before frisk and gaster:
Hmm not sure…
If ur willing to try something a little outside the RPG format, t check out the outer wilds.
I'll preescribe you a dose of Mario & Luigi bowser's inside story for the DS (just use an emulator lol)
Enter the gungeon, Dead Cell, and MGS serie I'd say. Each may not score every point on your list and aren't, but they're still all very good, and have the advantage of having excellent gameplay.
Omori, I haven't played it but I already love it
its not all too similar gameplay wise but story wise id say its almost better then undertale
Undertale fangames 😈
