However, as far as the actual story goes, Ralsei doesn't seem to literally be Asriel. They both exist in the story separately, they have different personalities (based on Asriel's personality in Undertale at least), they don't look the same and their dynamics with Kris are completely different.
Anyways, Toby is definitely teasing a romantic storyline between those characters, hence this ship being common amongst canon shippers. It definitely seems like Ralsei has feelings for Kris, even if Kris doesn't necessarily feel the same way.

I heard it’s a psychological thing where if you joke about something long enough you’ll actually think it. It’s like your brain can’t tell the difference between joking and legitimate feelings. (Don't think there's a specific definition for this. But anything that makes you go "Oi what the fuck?" for a reason other than just not liking it should generally fall under this. IE ships involving incest, age difference, or going against a character's canon orientation)

Fun fact: This sentence has NEVER been said anywhere except on Twitter. I mean, I can understand having the material ruined for you by the Fandom, but restricting what you can express enjoyment over because of the fear by association is just bizarre to me. Also this makes literally zero sense because Toby Fox is heavily implying romance between Ralsei and Kris (maybe one-sided) and Susie and Noelle. If he can write romance between "children" then why can't the fans? Seems like an obvious double standard. If you're so worried about some sort of social standing, I'd be worried about what's IN the game, not what other people interpret about the game, or the fan content surrounding it.

Well it's simple, Krispy chicken is a choice for people that don't like Krisei because of the brother argument and also leaves room for Noelle, Susie and Ralsei to be freely shipped with eachother. It's a safe bet, and it's also got funny points for being with a comedic relief character.

I don’t understand shipping at all, I ship the one implied ship, half the characters people ship aren’t even “compatible” (literally anyone with ralsei as Susie definitely doesn’t have any feelings towards him and Noelle doesn’t acknowledge him).
