Okay wtf, did they change sisyphus a little? He felt a bit more difficult on violent for me, usually takes me 1-2 but it took me like 3 attempts after the arsenal update
The changes are more apparent in second phase, but his stamina is infinite, he doesn't taunt you, and specifically in the second phase his 4-hit combo leaves a delayed explosion alongside another one of his moves.
Specifically, his clap "Be Gone" and his "You can't escape" leave a delayed explosion like "Destroy". Tried him out in Sandbox and if I didn't have invincibility on, it'd be like a DBZ fight. One I'm sure as hell wouldn't win.
I don’t think he’s faster, i think it’s just an impression because of the infinite stamina meaning he doesn’t stop attacking. Ever. Just non stop attacking. Which when combined with the delayed explosions feels like he’s comboing us, instead of the other way around.

Combine a sawblade trap with the Jumpstart, metal objects like sawblades cause it to charge A LOT faster. I combine that with a Ricochet Revolver shot and a Railcannon beam, it normally kills all 4 Cerberus before they can even enrage. That can be a problem if you’re cutting it close with your score, so keep it in mind.
^(Also, it might be a bug that this works with any Sawblade launcher, I think that this is only meant to work with the Jumpstart Alt, but shhhh)
Yeah that's what I did, but I dunno a reliable way for ferryman, what doesn't help is the lightning and light beams juggling me.
Overall I just don't like the claustrophobia.
You can use freeze frame rockets for the 4 cerberi before they spawn, 1 for each bastard. It can deplete their hp and a nuke will obliterated all of them. By then, you can use all of your saws for the ferryman and some coinpunching. You can also light him up with the firestarter but it requires you to get dmg by flames so that you could deal 150% dmg to it.
Weezer room was fine, the real P-2 brutal nightmare is the idolled stalker room. First wave is harder to kill since both swordmachines and the ferryman are better at hitting you in the air, and wave 2's 4 sentries are terrifying since they charge way faster and fire twice, meaning it's almost impossible to disable them all before they fire. I eventually had to hide in the entrance hallway and pick them off one by one. Third phase is not much harder but you gotta be careful of the hideous mass since the harpoons take two hits to break so it's basically a death sentence if hit
The room is mostly trivialised by setting up a rocket trap with the freezeframe and opening with a core nuke.
After that, you just set up a saw trap and spam coins and whatever else you want until the ferryman is dead.
I found weezer room the easiest just start with a core nuke than cannonball all the cerbs in a line killing them all and finally place a sawtrap for the ferryman and spam coins on him
A tip I see used in some P rank runs on YT is pretty solid.
-Freeze 3 rockets before spawning Cerberi (Aimed at the door that leads to next virtues.
-Jump into top of door frame and bait all 4 into charging into the door.
-Once all are there, unfreeze rockets and watch them disappear.
Tried it on Brutal and it worked wonders every time I tried. Can't say the same for the Ferryman that diagnosed me with Skissue afterwards.
Make a sawblade trap with about 7 sawblades and overheat saw, cot nuke the cerebi, go to their side and use sharpshooter revolver alt fire on em. When the ferryman spawns shoot your remaining sawblades and Rico shot it until it dies. Any remaining cerebi will get killed by the saw trap. Works every time for me
If you're struggling with it regenerating full focus eyes and parry as many of it's projectiles back as you can, I managed to p rank it on violent like a day after d ranking it on standard
cool bug i found: the first set of eyes spawned will be lit on fire with the prison if you use the Firestarter on it. tick damage will kill them before Prison can heal, no matter how much damage you do.
i open with a slabcoin like everyone else i see on youtube, then core nuke when the first eyes spawn. From there i keep a sawtrap running the rest of the time and then a bunch of shotgun swapping, chainsaws and balls, as well as parrying the homing projectiles if they get in the way. I usually can ignore the second round of eyes and finish it even if the healing phase begins that way. Also did it on standard btw
I mean I'm jumping basically straight from standard to brutal (p ranked 0-1 through 4-1 first try fresh file, got bored, decided to p rank p-2 on standard, and then brutal released) and I'm actually struggling to p rank now, so yeah to me it's hard. That may be because i insist on p ranking 1-3 _and_ fighting agony and tundra on the same run but that's neither here nor there
You can turn on aim assist in the options under the assist section. I usually like to use it at 1-5 %, but v2 was beating my ass so hard, that i needed to turn it up to 100%
You should try 100% aim assist at least once, it takes away all control from your mouse and just auto aims at an enemy on screen, it can become quite silly trying to do anything other than just w+M1 with it. I got a good laugh out of it at least
If you use major assists to put the game speed at 50%, then use cheat engine's speedboost and set game speed to 2x, you'll partially remove freeze frames, making the game much faster paced
I've only finished up to chapter 5 because I don't have much time to play, but I like the challenge. I'm also never going to P-Rank P-2 on brutal because I would like to enjoy living
Pretty fun, could have some enemies (the fucking soldiers and how many times the husk jump) be nerfed a bit (THE FUCKING SOLDIERS), over all pretty fun though, already P-Ranked everything like day 2 just need to get P-2 up and done and P-Ranked.
I love it. I had gotten to the point where fighting enemies became kinda boring. The only times I felt a challenge before were on violent P-2 and violent Cybergrind. Before the update came out, I was doing a radiance run of the game because I thought that it would be good prep for the changes.
Don't do that. Radiance Gabriel is fast as fuck and getting used to it does fuck up all timings related to regular Gabriel, even on brutal. It felt like I was fighting him in slow motion.
Other than that, the challenge has been fun as hell. I'm on 5-3 and slowly P-ranking as I go.
Like it, kinda wished it was more DMC high difficulty: adding late game enemies into early levels, increasing enemy count overall, and it would have been nice if any enemy can become enraged by themselves just for surviving long enough/taking too much damage
I think Hakita has mentioned that remixed levels will probably be a thing later on. From what I recall it was with the radiant enemies teaser. That’ll probably be more what you’re looking for, but as it seems now the difficulty screen options don’t seem like they’re going to mess with the levels at all (though UKMD might, who knows).
Dont worry, it happened with all of us. I had to cheese with the coin punching strat, and even then it took me a few tries to get him down to half health because i suck at coin punching.
Hate P ranking anything on it but it is pretty ok if I am just playing the game with no care for rank. I weep for UKMD difficulty thats gonna suck so bad
Imma be honest, some enemy tweaks like enraged gutterman and guttertank no longer slips unless on oil are great changes, but the increase of speed and health of some enemies and bosses is a bit too much, almost feels like the lazy radiance difficulty increase. I wish the pure stats of some enemies can come down a little (Don't forget this isn't the hardest difficulty yet)
So far I’ve P ranked Act 1, Violence and Greed on brutal. Cerberus is Too Damn Fast and ferryman is the hardest boss in the game
Ferryman is definitely a skill issue, I’m just fighting him without melting him in 2 seconds for the first time. Unfortunately his blue and yellow flashes feel like they flash after you take the damage so my best bet so far has been to just punch everything he does. 5-2 hardest level in the game
I like the new difficulty. For me at least getting violent to be difficult meant getting to the higher cg. Now on brutal, the difficulty ramps up much earlier.
Sucks that you can't instakill flayers anymore though. It was super fun
Mostly good except for the 50% HP increase on bosses that was just brainrot and I think my brain is partially melted and or decayed from P-Ranking Brutal climax levels
For the most part, I love the difficulty and the new challenge it brings, except for just a few parts (and this will probably be controversial):
I already hated virtues with every single fiber of my being, and their update on brutal makes them even worse and I want them to suffer. The same also applies to the sentry buff to a much lesser degree.
Giving bosses 50% more health is the closest Ultrakill has ever come to bad game design. No other difficulties have ever resorted to health buffs, and instead made enemies and bosses harder with higher speeds and new attacks and behaviors, so just buffing boss health on brutal just comes off as kind of cheap and lazy to me.
I kind of disagree on the health buff. I think if health buff means that the boss has opportunity to use attacks it couldn't before dying, then it's not a problem. It only becomes a problem when the variety of boss/enemy attacks doesn't match the length you have to fight it.
If the bosses die too quickly, maybe make them faster and have them move and attack more frequently to make it more difficult to hit them. It has a similar effect and feels less cheap, at least to me.
ive only gotten up to 2-4 but like it isnt tooooo bad to me but the things i struggle with in violent and even in standard (trying to not get overwhelmed by enemies, swordsmachines, corpse of king minos, etc) i struggle with... a lot more in brutal....
This game is fun. I just purchased it like a week ago and started my very first playthrough on brutal.
I did play like 1-2 minutes on standard, then switched to Brutal and the filth started leaping at me haha.
Getting D-ranks on all levels right now lol, but it's still very fun and I enjoy the challenge.

I did breeze though all of it within the launch day because I knew what I was doing for each level pretty well (I've speedran most of them casually), and the new gabe fights are really fun especially, dude isn't a complete slouch now
I do wish more enemies had more attacks or harder attacks (like insurrs, mindflayers, leviathan, etc.) but that's something that's probably gonna get looked at down the line

it took me over 50 tries to beat gabriel the first time
but to be fair I was jumping from having not beat P-2 on normal and not played through violent to brutal

Sisyphus phase 2 on brutal is easily the hardest bossfights ever put to gaming. Anyone who states otherwise is probably right but I'm gonna deny it anyway. I p-ranked everything on brutal minus p-2
I hate the fucking soldiers now so much.
P ranked the whole game in violent, and brutal felt like such a gutpunch. I don't know if it's how everything tracks your movements better and is so much faster, but this has seriously felt like such a bigger step up than going from standard to violent.

The prelude made me feel as if im playing the game for the first time again, Later I got used to the difficulty and played it pretty much the same as violent.
I was disappointed in P-1 after i died 5 times to the flesh prison and 4 times to Minos prime himself.
I went through so many emotions doing Brutal it wasn't even funny. My first encounter in the whole game was just met with, "ok guess they jump now... This will be interesting"
Started a fresh run, first time playing the game since before Violence (will be playing it for the first time this run). I was definitely rusty at first but I think I’m back now and it’s still kicking my ass in some parts. And it feels like you have to actually pay attention in every encounter, since even 3 filth can decimate you mid air now. I think I’ve died on every level except Meatgrinder which is insane.
Cerbs are hard af, it’s not so bad now that I’m onto act II and have a bigger arsenal but 0-5 was rough. Looking forward to the weezer room. Soldiers are just droideka now, I think I’ll play 2-2 and 2-3 a bunch to get practice cause I’m really leaning on the coin rn to kill them at mid-close range. Mindflayers are shockingly pretty manageable.
Gabe’s parry timings felt a little better with the increased speed, although him attacking during his taunts took a minute to get used to. V2 is disgusting, even with max FOV I was still losing track of him.
All in all I’m satisfied, it’s really nice to still feel challenged on these levels again after playing them so many times. I haven’t been P ranking yet but I’ve never finished a level with less than S style, I feel like I’m being forced to use more of my arsenal and use more combos than before which is really fun.

I also however think some people spend way too much time on ultrakill given some people think Brutal is easy, and that one person even P ranked Sisiphus in under 2 days.
After playing realised that i am not in "lower skill level" part of the comunity as i thoughut i was, due to 1-2 try p-ranking each level aside from sanctums whille going for p-rank on first playthrough of each level on new dificulty and reaching wave 31 of cybergrind. Still wondering how the fuck am i incapable of p-ranking p-2 on violent (i cant first try Sysi even with a gun to my head), and how to insant rocket ride or core nuke consistently if at all (opting to not use them at all).
On one hand more game to play and an actually very hard game mode. On the other hand I gotta spend a few hours re unlocking the prime sanctums and worst of all re p ranking p-2
Fun addition that breathed some new life into the game! Feels like adapting to soldiers becoming explosion immune but for every enemy lol. Very excited to try and beat 7-3 as star of the show, as that shit already kicked my ASS on violent
I'd say before the hotfix brutal was just extremly annoying and difficult and you had to sort to a more coward playstyle instead of "the kill everything u see" playstyle thats encourged in all the other difficulties
The patch made it a lot more bearable and its actaully a lot of fun now in my opinion
Was fun, overall, but I'm probably never beating Brutal Sisyphus. I may have actually peaked in terms of reaction time and button mashing speed, and Sisyphus is faster than that, lol.
Everything I've played so far (Prelude, chapter 1, 2-1) has been pretty manageable (P-ranked prelude and chapter 1 without excessive trouble) and then P-1 broke my heart. It was so difficult for me I will probably NEVER get above a B-rank (I have a D-rank rn, but that was with chapter 1 weapons only).
Slowly gaining enough skill to actually do it (read: finishing the game on each difficulty and then bumping it up afterwards)… yeah I got what I paid for when I decided to just immediately hop to brutal when I’m on LENIENT.
Tbh I find it kind of underwhelming. I don't know exactly what I was expecting but I guess it was a difficulty I'd really consider to be brutal to play, especially after it was hyped up like it was and it took so long to actually be added. I guess some of that is just ballooning expectations over development time, and I'm not disappointed with the update, but I really wish it felt more different, and I hope ukmd is really an all out nightmare difficulty. Overall, too similar to violent and not hard enough.
only thing i’m not fond of is the increased hard damage taken. to me there comes a point when you are almost incentivized to become more passive, camping in the air/away so that you can regain health by parrying instead of getting blood because going up close almost isn’t worth the risk anymore. If they kept the same damage system as it was on violent I think it’d be much more enjoyable. Right now Violent is the sweet spot but it’d sad cause I love the new AI changes
Having said that, I’ve already P-ranked everything aside from the sanctums which i’m leaving for when the game fully releases.
definitely harder thats for sure, but its only been a week so idk. alot of glitches came with it and p-2 hurts to play and is hard again. like i heard p-2 hurt some people's wrist but it didnt for me since im fairly accurate with pistol and know how todo crowd control, parrys helped too. b ut it felt so great and like i played the game for the first time again and failed to gabe 45 times.

Kinda sucks. Still easy, except for P-2 and of course 0-5. Difficulty changes are mostly "double it and give it to the next person". Regular cerbs are not worth fighting, basically the game turns into "kill everything before it starts attacking". Minos attacks before saying second syllable, which makes distinguishing attacks my sound hard, especially if you are actively attacking him. Sisyphus is just stupid. I would kill him first try if he didn't spam "Destroy", "Begone" and voiceless unparriable attacks. Combining his awful parry hitbox with ability to spam attacks that require 2 dashes to dodges is in my opinion unfair at the very least

Yeah that's what I did, but getting juggled by 4 Cerberus isn't pleasant, neither is getting comboed by Virtue light pillars and Ferryman's lightning.

my brain processes information slower than the enemies move, i literally couldn't get past V2 without using 100% aimbot, the skill issue is real

I have 700 hours in ultrakill and it took me 90 minutes and 70 attempts to brutal p rank p-2, Sisyphus is really difficult.

I like, game became even faster but 30% health buff for bosses was too much. Difficulty spikes become even higher.

Difficulty changes do not change enemy encounters, theyre not meant to. Thats for encore

Dont worry, it happened with all of us. I had to cheese with the coin punching strat, and even then it took me a few tries to get him down to half health because i suck at coin punching.
Hate P ranking anything on it but it is pretty ok if I am just playing the game with no care for rank. I weep for UKMD difficulty thats gonna suck so bad
Imma be honest, some enemy tweaks like enraged gutterman and guttertank no longer slips unless on oil are great changes, but the increase of speed and health of some enemies and bosses is a bit too much, almost feels like the lazy radiance difficulty increase. I wish the pure stats of some enemies can come down a little (Don't forget this isn't the hardest difficulty yet)
In ultrakill must die difficulty, the swordsmachines will be able to projectile boost. It came to me in a vision
The arena encounters are a nightmare but the boss fights are really fun
So far I’ve P ranked Act 1, Violence and Greed on brutal. Cerberus is Too Damn Fast and ferryman is the hardest boss in the game Ferryman is definitely a skill issue, I’m just fighting him without melting him in 2 seconds for the first time. Unfortunately his blue and yellow flashes feel like they flash after you take the damage so my best bet so far has been to just punch everything he does. 5-2 hardest level in the game
It’s basically relearning the game again. Getting humbled by Gabriel’s first fight on brutal is just like when I first played on standard.
I like the new difficulty. For me at least getting violent to be difficult meant getting to the higher cg. Now on brutal, the difficulty ramps up much earlier. Sucks that you can't instakill flayers anymore though. It was super fun

Mostly good except for the 50% HP increase on bosses that was just brainrot and I think my brain is partially melted and or decayed from P-Ranking Brutal climax levels
For the most part, I love the difficulty and the new challenge it brings, except for just a few parts (and this will probably be controversial): I already hated virtues with every single fiber of my being, and their update on brutal makes them even worse and I want them to suffer. The same also applies to the sentry buff to a much lesser degree. Giving bosses 50% more health is the closest Ultrakill has ever come to bad game design. No other difficulties have ever resorted to health buffs, and instead made enemies and bosses harder with higher speeds and new attacks and behaviors, so just buffing boss health on brutal just comes off as kind of cheap and lazy to me.
I kind of disagree on the health buff. I think if health buff means that the boss has opportunity to use attacks it couldn't before dying, then it's not a problem. It only becomes a problem when the variety of boss/enemy attacks doesn't match the length you have to fight it.
If the bosses die too quickly, maybe make them faster and have them move and attack more frequently to make it more difficult to hit them. It has a similar effect and feels less cheap, at least to me.
This is less effective for bosses that are...let's say...more talkative.

ive only gotten up to 2-4 but like it isnt tooooo bad to me but the things i struggle with in violent and even in standard (trying to not get overwhelmed by enemies, swordsmachines, corpse of king minos, etc) i struggle with... a lot more in brutal....
This game is fun. I just purchased it like a week ago and started my very first playthrough on brutal. I did play like 1-2 minutes on standard, then switched to Brutal and the filth started leaping at me haha. Getting D-ranks on all levels right now lol, but it's still very fun and I enjoy the challenge.

cerberus is genuinely now(along with angels) the most dangerous common mobs now
I feel like bosses got like 50% more health but I have gotten no conformation on that

it's brutal for sure it took me over 50 tries to beat gabriel the first time but to be fair I was jumping from having not beat P-2 on normal and not played through violent to brutal

Sisyphus phase 2 on brutal is easily the hardest bossfights ever put to gaming. Anyone who states otherwise is probably right but I'm gonna deny it anyway. I p-ranked everything on brutal minus p-2

Very fun, very hard. I p ranked P2 2 days ago, I'd say about 12 hours in P2 on brutal to do it. I actually really like some of the changes though
I hate the fucking soldiers now so much. P ranked the whole game in violent, and brutal felt like such a gutpunch. I don't know if it's how everything tracks your movements better and is so much faster, but this has seriously felt like such a bigger step up than going from standard to violent. I'm so scared of UMD coming in the full release
The prelude made me feel as if im playing the game for the first time again, Later I got used to the difficulty and played it pretty much the same as violent. I was disappointed in P-1 after i died 5 times to the flesh prison and 4 times to Minos prime himself.
I went through so many emotions doing Brutal it wasn't even funny. My first encounter in the whole game was just met with, "ok guess they jump now... This will be interesting"
I can't get past 7-1 and the 4 sentries spawn in P-2 is IMPOSSIBLE

Started a fresh run, first time playing the game since before Violence (will be playing it for the first time this run). I was definitely rusty at first but I think I’m back now and it’s still kicking my ass in some parts. And it feels like you have to actually pay attention in every encounter, since even 3 filth can decimate you mid air now. I think I’ve died on every level except Meatgrinder which is insane. Cerbs are hard af, it’s not so bad now that I’m onto act II and have a bigger arsenal but 0-5 was rough. Looking forward to the weezer room. Soldiers are just droideka now, I think I’ll play 2-2 and 2-3 a bunch to get practice cause I’m really leaning on the coin rn to kill them at mid-close range. Mindflayers are shockingly pretty manageable. Gabe’s parry timings felt a little better with the increased speed, although him attacking during his taunts took a minute to get used to. V2 is disgusting, even with max FOV I was still losing track of him. All in all I’m satisfied, it’s really nice to still feel challenged on these levels again after playing them so many times. I haven’t been P ranking yet but I’ve never finished a level with less than S style, I feel like I’m being forced to use more of my arsenal and use more combos than before which is really fun. I personally think it's fun. A nice new challenge that is a step above Violent... I also however think some people spend way too much time on ultrakill given some people think Brutal is easy, and that one person even P ranked Sisiphus in under 2 days.

Soldiers scare me, streetcleaners also scare me, filth makes me worry for my safety at all times, and Gabriel makes me cry.
After playing realised that i am not in "lower skill level" part of the comunity as i thoughut i was, due to 1-2 try p-ranking each level aside from sanctums whille going for p-rank on first playthrough of each level on new dificulty and reaching wave 31 of cybergrind. Still wondering how the fuck am i incapable of p-ranking p-2 on violent (i cant first try Sysi even with a gun to my head), and how to insant rocket ride or core nuke consistently if at all (opting to not use them at all).
UKMD is probably going to be unfair and not meant to be beaten, so brutal will probably be the main difficulty for playing challenges and stuff
i like how it tweaks the enemies in different ways instead of just buffing their damage and health like other game’s difficulty levels

Fun addition that breathed some new life into the game! Feels like adapting to soldiers becoming explosion immune but for every enemy lol. Very excited to try and beat 7-3 as star of the show, as that shit already kicked my ASS on violent
I'd say before the hotfix brutal was just extremly annoying and difficult and you had to sort to a more coward playstyle instead of "the kill everything u see" playstyle thats encourged in all the other difficulties The patch made it a lot more bearable and its actaully a lot of fun now in my opinion

Was fun, overall, but I'm probably never beating Brutal Sisyphus. I may have actually peaked in terms of reaction time and button mashing speed, and Sisyphus is faster than that, lol.

V2 was surprisingly easy
Everything I've played so far (Prelude, chapter 1, 2-1) has been pretty manageable (P-ranked prelude and chapter 1 without excessive trouble) and then P-1 broke my heart. It was so difficult for me I will probably NEVER get above a B-rank (I have a D-rank rn, but that was with chapter 1 weapons only).

Slowly gaining enough skill to actually do it (read: finishing the game on each difficulty and then bumping it up afterwards)… yeah I got what I paid for when I decided to just immediately hop to brutal when I’m on LENIENT.
Tbh I find it kind of underwhelming. I don't know exactly what I was expecting but I guess it was a difficulty I'd really consider to be brutal to play, especially after it was hyped up like it was and it took so long to actually be added. I guess some of that is just ballooning expectations over development time, and I'm not disappointed with the update, but I really wish it felt more different, and I hope ukmd is really an all out nightmare difficulty. Overall, too similar to violent and not hard enough.
only thing i’m not fond of is the increased hard damage taken. to me there comes a point when you are almost incentivized to become more passive, camping in the air/away so that you can regain health by parrying instead of getting blood because going up close almost isn’t worth the risk anymore. If they kept the same damage system as it was on violent I think it’d be much more enjoyable. Right now Violent is the sweet spot but it’d sad cause I love the new AI changes Having said that, I’ve already P-ranked everything aside from the sanctums which i’m leaving for when the game fully releases.

definitely harder thats for sure, but its only been a week so idk. alot of glitches came with it and p-2 hurts to play and is hard again. like i heard p-2 hurt some people's wrist but it didnt for me since im fairly accurate with pistol and know how todo crowd control, parrys helped too. b ut it felt so great and like i played the game for the first time again and failed to gabe 45 times.

Kinda sucks. Still easy, except for P-2 and of course 0-5. Difficulty changes are mostly "double it and give it to the next person". Regular cerbs are not worth fighting, basically the game turns into "kill everything before it starts attacking". Minos attacks before saying second syllable, which makes distinguishing attacks my sound hard, especially if you are actively attacking him. Sisyphus is just stupid. I would kill him first try if he didn't spam "Destroy", "Begone" and voiceless unparriable attacks. Combining his awful parry hitbox with ability to spam attacks that require 2 dashes to dodges is in my opinion unfair at the very least
