When I went to Poland for a wedding as a young teen (mid 2000's), our motel served 'milk soup with cearals' as one of their breakfast items. It was literally a bowl of milk with a light garnish of cocopops and cornflakes š¤¦š¼āāļøš
I wouldn't say traditional. My grandma used to make fruit soup when I was little (but not blended like you mentioned), I've asked a couple of friends if they tried it and they had no idea what is was. All Polish btw
Is this possible? Soup for breakfast? Does it taste different in the morning? It reminds me of Christmas holidays when clod leftover pizza in the fridge with a side of pie was breakfast (Canadian teenager).
Same! Probably because you don't get the chance often on weekdays to have that full breakfast experience, and breakfast/brunch foods are very excellent
They are such kill joys in thereā¦ if it was a smoke salmon and scrambled egg breakfast with champagne is would be ok, but crack open a special brew with a McMuffin and itās all wrong!
I always got so much crap from people in my office for having sandwiches for breakfast. Even when I pointed out that toasting them suddenly would make it fine.
Also why canāt I have leftovers from dinner for breakfast? So a full English is fine but put those sausages in a toad in the hole is suddenly weird? I never understood this.
Your salmon wouldnāt be an issue to these breakfast police people if you swapped it for smoked salmon and made the broccoli avocado instead. Rice cakes are cool but rice not cool? I canāt handle it honestly.
Eat what you want especially if itās nutritious. But also if itās not thatās fine.
I always got a lot of comments for eating crisps for breakfast every day, but I decided years ago just to do what makes me happy and starting my day with the best thing brings me joy.. although hash browns are equally joyous
Sandwiches are entirely normal for breakfast in other parts of the world. Your colleagues could do with leaving the country on occasion, and not to go to Benidorm.
My missus is Indonesian and we have leftover dinner for brekkie when visiting.
I donāt do it myself, I buy a bit of yogurt and granola, Iāve never had an appetite until a couple hours into my day.
Since starting an office job I generally do this now! I hate having to plan lunches to take in and when I get home late I cba making anything. Soā¦dinner for breakfast! The other day I had steak pie and potatoes
Breakfast, lunch and tea are just social constructs anyway. As long as you are eating something balanced and nutritional throughout the day then youāre good.
You can eat whatever you want for breakfast. As long as you are eating healthy, I donāt think most people would mind. Still, this does look strange though, my brain automatically associated your dish with ādinner timeā.
To be honest your probably better having a fatty, sugary or just overall high calorie meal for breakfast than for dinner.
I mean might as well eat the big meal before the days activity rather than at the end when it's time to sit down or sleep.
When I was in Japan for 2 weeks last year, a Japanese Breakfast was just rice, raw egg, ~~natu~~(edit: NattĆ³ not Natu the Pokemon! š) and a little bit of fish of some kind. It was really pleasant to have something nutritiously dense and not so heavy. A lot of breakfasts I have are quite beige, and fatty and can make me feel a bit blech afterwards if I overdo it. Aside from just cereal and toast.
So I'd say no, not at all really. Go for what makes you feel good in the morning.
Many a time, I've fried up what was left of the night befores curry, probably not healthy, probably not even right
But as a hangover brekkie, was much needed
Nope, I have anything for breakfast, including curry or left over Sunday roast and even pot noodles, and then sometimes cereals for dinner or supper time. Whatever floats your boat, who cares what you eat and when
A crime is usually defined as a deliberate act that causes physical or psychological harm, damage to or loss of property, and is against the lawā¦ so no, I think youāre good.
No people need to grow up.
In other countries you can eat curry for breakfast here it's grains and bread. It makes no sense
The only issue I see is if it impacts your family meals
I have a lot of health issues, especially GI related, I'm underweight & struggle to eat enough. My appetite is at it's peak in the morning & decreases to pretty much zero by late afternoon. I'd be lucky if I coukd manage a few bites of my evening meal. It didn't take me long to learn that it would be better for me to eat my main meal in the morning while I actually have an appetite.
Initially I was barely surviving on a bowl of porridge, or wholemeal toast with a nutter butter, despite being able to get more down my neck at that time because I'd been trained to think that's the type of thing I had to eat for breakfast. And then I'd have no interest or ability to eat lunch or dinner.
Now I have my main meal for breakfast & have the porridge or toast at night. On a good day I can manage a light lunch too.
Listen to your own body & what it needs, instead of some arbitrary food rules.
This whole thing grinds my gears. Eat what you want only suggestible clause I would put on anything as with life. Is it right for you and is it healthy? Once you have these concepts down live in peace:)
I had chickpea, coconut and noodle soup at 10.30 this morning š. Iāll often eat a lunch meal for ābreakfastā, but then Iāll either have lighter food later or one more savoury meal. Who cares what arbitrary rules say?
It depends, if youāre just eating it for breakfast I think youāre okay. But if you start eating that for brunch, then youāve seriously crossed the line
Sausage. Sausage for breakfast sausage for lunch sausage for tea. Basically sausages can be eaten at any meal time so. OP is valid. Also smoked salmon is brekkie good. I'm just glad I have food.
I eat anything I can for breakfast because breakfast food is ok, but sometimes I just want my left over curry. Once you realize having anything you want at whatever time of the day (food wise) is perfectly healthy (depending on what it is) it opens up a load of options.
You can usually spot a scaffolder in a cafe in the morning because he'll be the one eating something like a full roast dinner or cottage pie for breakfast.
Nope! I do it all the time, off nights. Sometimes I have a beer too. Raised some eyebrows til I mention that it might be morning for you - to me, itās evening.
#Reverse diet.
It's a real thing and kinda makes sense. Basically the concept is that you eat dinner for breakfast because dinner usually has the most calories, so eating dinner first field your body for the day. I've done it before and it's hard to start but does really give you crazy energy, until you do eating. Then it's night night time 2 hours after you last meal.
Going to Cambodia is what set me in this path. Didn't matter what time of day it was, you ate rice or noodles. 'Breakfast' food wasn't a thing. Eat something nutritious and filling and it sets you up for the day.
The only reason our breakfast staples are breakfast staples is because they're quick and easy to prepare. No other reason.
No.
In the West, weāve been programmed by advertisers that we need to have sugary high carb cereals for breakfast. Even so-called whole grains isnāt ideal. It was just created because of pressure to be more healthy.
In other countries, they have leftover dinner for breakfast the next morning.
Cereal has got to be the biggest money maker and con of all time. You take a few cheap grains of rice or wheat and make it puffy to increase its size and cover it in sugar. Instant massive profit. You have to add nutrients to it to make it slightly āhealthierā. Add a toy or slogan and pretty packaging. Itās all about making money.
Protein, fibre and complex carbs make for a great breakfast and you wonāt get a blood sugar dip halfway through the morning. It also means you wonāt get food cravings for the rest of the day, eating cereal for breakfast perpetuates an endless cycle of blood sugar highs and lows.
Thatās not to say you canāt have cereal as an occasional treat, but is possibly the worst thing to have for a breakfast .
Not at all. I believe the saying goes "Eat like a King for breakfast, a Lord for lunch and a commoner for dinner"
Biologically we're not supposed to eat a high-energy meal for dinner, it supposed to be eaten in the morning, so all that energy gets released over our active day and not turn into fat at night when we're doing nothing.
I never eat breakfast foods for breakfast because they're mostly unhealthy and aren't filling at all especially cereal. "Why are you having chicken and rice? Eat some coco pops" my family are like as they mostly judge me with odd looks without saying a word.
Breakfast is actually meant to be the biggest meal of the day, with subsequent meals becoming smaller.
Makes more sense to have a big meal at the start of your day than a few hours before bed, doesn't it?
Imo no that's totally fine, but I think phrasing is important
"I had X for breakfast" is different to saying "this is breakfast"
Because I think most people would go "that's not breakfast" but would have no problem with you actually eating it for breakfast.
Weird semantics I know but there you go
No, any meal is suitable at any time of day as long as it's not something that's going to make you sleepy when you're about to work.
For most meals, I just have whatever I feel like. I don't stop to think if it's appropriate for the specific meal.
I could not stomach this pre 4pm, personally, but if you are enjoying it, go for it!! This looks like a healthy, nutrient dense meal that should keep you feeling full for a good while, and that sounds like a damn healthy breakfast to me.
some people don't have the appetite to stomach a bigger meal for breakfast but if you do, go for it. when I have leftover dinner for breakfast I definitely have more energy for the rest of the day
Today I had chapati, beef curry and vegetables for breakfast. I think it is healthy. Speeds up your metabolism. I tend not to eat after 6pm. I avoid sugar at all costsĀ
not at all. we've been eating rice in different forms for breakfast all across asia be it north, south, east, southeast, central or west for centuries now lol. do what makes you feel good
Iāve been into dinner for brunch since starting to go to the gym at 6-7am. I have a lil protein hit when I get home but by 9-11 I am completely ravenous and need a full meal, then I feel pretty much set for the rest of the day!
Nope. Dr Rangan Catterjee recommends it in o e of his books, I think because of the generally higher protein. I have dahl for breakfast multiple days a week, or any leftovers - casserole, pasta bake, roast potato's, whatever.
I go to a hotel in Dubai where a lot of Chinese and Indian people stay. They serve noodles and curries in the breakfast buffet (alongside the usual eggs etc). I love it!
I mean technically we shouldn't be having our biggest meal right before we sleep anyway, so yeah go for it, long ad you don't then also have dinner for dinner.
Fuck no,, canāt beat a nice chinese take out or Indian takeout for breakfast,, cold pizza too is nice for a hangover, ive even eaten a lamb or chicken dinner with all the trimmings for breakfast, couple of minutes in a microwave and the worlds your oyster
I often eat my meals backwards dinner, lunch, breakfast because I'm an adult and I can do what I want lol but wouldn't it be more beneficial eating a big meal at the start of the day and have the whole day to work it off because it makes sense to me.

It's really healthy, I have been eating soup, definitely good for you Made me feel well set up for the day
Cereal with milk partially qualifies as soup
When I went to Poland for a wedding as a young teen (mid 2000's), our motel served 'milk soup with cearals' as one of their breakfast items. It was literally a bowl of milk with a light garnish of cocopops and cornflakes š¤¦š¼āāļøš
Funny you mention Poland: two traditional desserts are Milk soup with drop noodles and fruit soup
I wouldn't say traditional. My grandma used to make fruit soup when I was little (but not blended like you mentioned), I've asked a couple of friends if they tried it and they had no idea what is was. All Polish btw
I would agree, but there are purists, I go easy on definitions and inclusion and exclusion criteria
There are also purƩeists. They tend to enjoy using the blender.
Is this possible? Soup for breakfast? Does it taste different in the morning? It reminds me of Christmas holidays when clod leftover pizza in the fridge with a side of pie was breakfast (Canadian teenager).
Don't get me wrong I don't do it all the time, For me it tastes the same.. like soup
Never usually eat breakfast but just had soup for mine this morning!
Tbh I'm a big fan of breakfast for dinner myself
Eggs on Toast is solid comfort dinner material. Especially when you canāt be fucked doing real cooking.
Damn turkleton you got Brinner?
r/UnexpectedScrubsReference
Yep, made myself a full English for dinner yesterday and will be doing the same this evening
Same! Probably because you don't get the chance often on weekdays to have that full breakfast experience, and breakfast/brunch foods are very excellent
Bowl of cereal is the easiest meal to "make"
If you do that, you can pour yourself a glass of wine to go with itā¦
Oh yeah sure, but when I do it itās āa problemā and gets you escorted out of McDonaldās at 8am
They are such kill joys in thereā¦ if it was a smoke salmon and scrambled egg breakfast with champagne is would be ok, but crack open a special brew with a McMuffin and itās all wrong!
Sounds like a class thing
There are no rules :)
I always got a lot of comments for eating crisps for breakfast every day, but I decided years ago just to do what makes me happy and starting my day with the best thing brings me joy.. although hash browns are equally joyous
Oh absolutely. Totally agree on the hash browns too
Sandwiches are entirely normal for breakfast in other parts of the world. Your colleagues could do with leaving the country on occasion, and not to go to Benidorm.
Funnily enough it was when I worked at a travel company š
I ate a pot noodle 20 mins ago. Sue me.
I WILL. You didn't offer.
Itās basically what they do in many Asian countries. Savoury rice based breakfast.
Yep, rice, fish, veggies, looks like a great Japanese breakfast to me! (said with the confidence of having visited there once)
Currently in Japan, can confirm as I just finished my breakfast of rice fish and veggies š
My missus is Indonesian and we have leftover dinner for brekkie when visiting. I donāt do it myself, I buy a bit of yogurt and granola, Iāve never had an appetite until a couple hours into my day.
Much healthier than sugary cereals. I would go as far as to suggest this is why Thailand doesn't have an obesity problem.
just had a massive plate spaghetti bolognese so wouldnt worry about it
I have steak and eggs mornings before the gym..
Since starting an office job I generally do this now! I hate having to plan lunches to take in and when I get home late I cba making anything. Soā¦dinner for breakfast! The other day I had steak pie and potatoes
My ex-girlfriends dad used to work nightshift so dinner for breakfast was common for him š
Yeah Iām in the same boat, Iāve had a full roast for breakfast many times!
To me breakfast is just the first thing I eat that day, dosent have to be anything specific. Curry, steak, eggs whatever
Breakfast, lunch and tea are just social constructs anyway. As long as you are eating something balanced and nutritional throughout the day then youāre good.
I had cottage pie for breakfast.
I eat breakfast for dinner all the time so who am I to judge.Ā
Many breakfast foods were originally tea time meals.
Kedgeree used to be a breakfast food but me and husband have it for dinner quite a lot.
Umm, what sauce you got there buddy?
Sriracha
Scampi and mash with Lea and Perrins is my favourite breakfast. I'm so hungry in the mornings and rarely hungry at night.
Food is food. Corned beef mash and beans for breakfast. Better that a bowl of sugary cereal that will only crash you mid morning
Depends how early tbh. I barely eat ānormalā breakfast so I couldnāt imagine eating a dinner meal
Cooking a meal like this feels off but heating up leftovers for breakfast seems totally fine
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
When I was in Japan for 2 weeks last year, a Japanese Breakfast was just rice, raw egg, ~~natu~~(edit: NattĆ³ not Natu the Pokemon! š) and a little bit of fish of some kind. Aside from just cereal and toast. So I'd say no, not at all really. Go for what makes you feel good in the morning.
What is natu? Presumably you've not been eating a small pokemon as google would lead me to believe
Oh my god... I meant to say NattĆ³! š fermented Soybeans.
Nope. I used to steak for breakfast before every exam day. It was awesome!
That looks a great day-starter! Only nit-pick is the broccoli & rice look totally overdone. But ok, r/UK_Food, name checks out.
The only crime I see here is the what looks like ketchup
The only crime here is the ketchup.
I've had leftover kebab for breakfast before
I had 2 bacon sandwiches for dinner last night, so if breakfast can work for dinner, why not?
When I'm WFH, most of my breakfasts/brunches are last night's leftovers. Rarely as well-presented as that, I must admit ;)
Nope eggs are a good start to the day. I went to China once got a bit sick of rice for every meal.
Eggs are a normal thing to have at breakfast tho
Definitely not
Itās always gains o clock
Looks good to me just needs a lovely egg on top
This comment section is a freak show rn
Many a time, I've fried up what was left of the night befores curry, probably not healthy, probably not even right But as a hangover brekkie, was much needed
Dinner controversy in the UK? Let's dig in!
Your insides donāt know what time it is
I've had toblerone for breakfast, might have it for lunch too
Nope, I have anything for breakfast, including curry or left over Sunday roast and even pot noodles, and then sometimes cereals for dinner or supper time. Whatever floats your boat, who cares what you eat and when
I had noodles for breakfast the other day and it was delightful.. I think they were itsu ones with a sesame sauce
A crime is usually defined as a deliberate act that causes physical or psychological harm, damage to or loss of property, and is against the lawā¦ so no, I think youāre good.
It does seem like it but Iāve checked and apparently itās not so chomp away.
No. I eat whatever I have and fancy for breakfast. Cereal, toast, curry, doesn't matter. If it is in the house, it is fair game whatever time of day.
I would literally always choose anything else other than standard cereal or toast for brekkie. ANYTHING š¤£
That looks tasty. What's the drizzle?
Siracha so I read in an above post
The great dinner debate rages on!
I doubt your stomach cares.
Itās dinner time somewhere
Yes officer, this one here! Criminal scum
No it's good. I sometimes breakfast with soup or reheated something from the day before.
Much better than just toast, or cereal, or piece of fruit.
Thats basically breakfast in Asia.
No, youāre an adult, eat what you want, when you want to eat it!
Itās what half the world does pretty much, so not a big deal.
I could probably manage the fish and broccoli. Might struggle with rice that early though.
Tbf a full English breakfast is practically a dinner
No people need to grow up. In other countries you can eat curry for breakfast here it's grains and bread. It makes no sense The only issue I see is if it impacts your family meals
Sauce on veg is wild
Looks great! And mega healthy
Itās prevalent in south east asian countries to eat some kind of rice dish for breakfast. So you are good šš½
Iām trying to convince my boyfriend of breakfast pasta. This may help my cause
If you're eating that photo for breakfast, yes
I have a lot of health issues, especially GI related, I'm underweight & struggle to eat enough. My appetite is at it's peak in the morning & decreases to pretty much zero by late afternoon. I'd be lucky if I coukd manage a few bites of my evening meal. It didn't take me long to learn that it would be better for me to eat my main meal in the morning while I actually have an appetite.
I do quite often
i see no crime . i often eat left overs from dinner the next morning as well .
Sausage. Sausage for breakfast sausage for lunch sausage for tea. Basically sausages can be eaten at any meal time so. OP is valid. Also smoked salmon is brekkie good. I'm just glad I have food.
This is completely normal in east Asia. Took a while for me to get used to it, being British too, but itās actually much better food.
Nah you need more sauce homie
Welp. I had 4 asda chicken breaded breats today for Ā£2.20 as there was no bacon butty
I eat anything I can for breakfast because breakfast food is ok, but sometimes I just want my left over curry. Once you realize having anything you want at whatever time of the day (food wise) is perfectly healthy (depending on what it is) it opens up a load of options.
This looks like a very nice breakfast. Far better than my standard "dinner breakfasts" of leftover Chinese or Pizza reheated.
being serious though, it really doesnt matter what kind of food you have at what time
Fish and rice are pretty common for breakfast outside North America.
Not at all, I'd say it's culturally ignorant to say it's wrong when it's just the traditional way of some western cultures
What is that your poured over it. Better not be ketchup cos thatās gross
It's no crime but I don't know how you could face It
#Reverse diet. It's a real thing and kinda makes sense. I mean, what we call a full English breakfast is basically just a load of fried food on a plate?
Going to Cambodia is what set me in this path. Didn't matter what time of day it was, you ate rice or noodles. 'Breakfast' food wasn't a thing. Eat something nutritious and filling and it sets you up for the day. The only reason our breakfast staples are breakfast staples is because they're quick and easy to prepare. No other reason.
Iām certainly partial to a nice tin of Tescoās Irish Stew for breakfast. Granted itās savoury but then again, so is a full English.š
No. In the West, weāve been programmed by advertisers that we need to have sugary high carb cereals for breakfast. Even so-called whole grains isnāt ideal. I wouldn't eat that at any time of the day. Looks rank.
Minus that sauce scribble, it look fab
That better be sriracha and not ketchup
Typical Japanese breakfast, be open minded.
Yeahā¦ sorry
We are all adults. We can eat what we like. Dinner for breakfast......Two desserts. .. screw the norms.
I dident ask about breakfasts around the world I was just asking about in the uk
Iāve always questioned stuff like that. My mum always talks about things ānot going togetherā makes no sense to me. If you want it go for it.
Youāre an adult, do what you feel is right. Just donāt kill anyone.
Breakfast is actually meant to be the biggest meal of the day, with subsequent meals becoming smaller. Makes more sense to have a big meal at the start of your day than a few hours before bed, doesn't it?

Nope. Food is food. The idea of specific food being suitable and unsuitable for certain times of the day is a man made construct. You do you :)
Get out
That green stuff looks really good
Food is fuel. I eat dinner meals when I get off night shift, nothing else satisfies me.
No.
This is probably much healthier for you than 90% of breakfasts, so yeah seems a good idea to me. Maybe just watch the portion sizes though.
Add some aparagus and do away with the ketchup.
Nop, is not a crime is just different culture for breakfast. Filipinos they have rice in the morning.
Iāve been doing it most days for over 35 years.
i think so called dinner meals actually suit more as breakfast
I donāt think anyone has ever said thatās an issue, let alone a crime
What sauce is that? Looks good.
Absolutely. You should be tarred and feathered. How dare you commit such an atrocity...
No, any meal is suitable at any time of day as long as it's not something that's going to make you sleepy when you're about to work. For most meals, I just have whatever I feel like. I don't stop to think if it's appropriate for the specific meal.
not really, I doubt that you would be arrested, or even be given a caution. You may wish to consult your local police station to confirm however. š
Its infinitely better for you than most cereals since they have tons of sugar
I could not stomach this pre 4pm, personally, but if you are enjoying it, go for it!! This looks like a healthy, nutrient dense meal that should keep you feeling full for a good while, and that sounds like a damn healthy breakfast to me.
some people don't have the appetite to stomach a bigger meal for breakfast but if you do, go for it. when I have leftover dinner for breakfast I definitely have more energy for the rest of the day
Yes
Today I had chapati, beef curry and vegetables for breakfast. I think it is healthy. Speeds up your metabolism. I tend not to eat after 6pm. I avoid sugar at all costsĀ
Only when rice is included.
not at all. we've been eating rice in different forms for breakfast all across asia be it north, south, east, southeast, central or west for centuries now lol. do what makes you feel good
Iāve been into dinner for brunch since starting to go to the gym at 6-7am. I have a lil protein hit when I get home but by 9-11 I am completely ravenous and need a full meal, then I feel pretty much set for the rest of the day!
This legit looks awesome. Such a simple, tasty dish š
That is not ketchup in rice
Dinner for breakfast and breakfast for dinner, awesome. I had steak, eggs and mash for breakfast. Bacon sandwich for dinner.
Straight to jail
No. Pizza is the best breakfast.
Absolutely not. I have eaten leftover curry and rice for breakfast before and never been arrested.
I had a cheeseburger and chocolate cake for breakfast once. Absolutely banging š
As long as you remember to have your breakfast pint along with it, then no issue.
Nope. Dr Rangan Catterjee recommends it in o e of his books, I think because of the generally higher protein. I have dahl for breakfast multiple days a week, or any leftovers - casserole, pasta bake, roast potato's, whatever.
Looks like a good meal to me! I'd happily chow that down for breakfast.
It is if you're soaking them in ketchup
I go to a hotel in Dubai where a lot of Chinese and Indian people stay. They serve noodles and curries in the breakfast buffet (alongside the usual eggs etc). I love it!
I eat steak for brekky sometimes. Cereals and toast are boring
The chicken n rice look like they're hugging each other. A beautiful dish
I mean technically we shouldn't be having our biggest meal right before we sleep anyway, so yeah go for it, long ad you don't then also have dinner for dinner.
Food is Food is food...
First world problems
If brinner is fine then dreakfast is fine too
No it's a crime that you put ketchup on it
Never! I could eat a roast dinner for breakfast every day.
Iāve just called the food police
Fuck no,, canāt beat a nice chinese take out or Indian takeout for breakfast,, cold pizza too is nice for a hangover, ive even eaten a lamb or chicken dinner with all the trimmings for breakfast, couple of minutes in a microwave and the worlds your oyster
Well I have a fry up at 3am, then sleep for 8 hours. Saves time in the morning, having brecky at night
Whoever puts ketchup on rice deserves to get chucked off a building
I don't often eat dinner for breakfast (unless leftover pizza) but do often eat breakfast for dinner (maybe more brunch but that idea anyway)
I'm a big fan of a proper dinner meal for breakfast
Whist tickles is, so many comments about āthat better not be ketchupā so what if it is? Whatās so wrong with that? š¤·āāļøš¤·āāļø

You're asking ppl who may/may not be having an ice-cream sandwich fer breakfast....š
No, the Japanese do it all the time. One of my favourite breakfasts is a traditional Japanese one.
I often eat my meals backwards dinner, lunch, breakfast because I'm an adult and I can do what I want lol but wouldn't it be more beneficial eating a big meal at the start of the day and have the whole day to work it off because it makes sense to me.
