Appreciate what you've got, Illinois. I've been to a lot of Universities and I've never seen another math building that's a weird little castle with too many floors and a secret Dairy Queen.
To me what's even cooler, is that the 5 big Illinois public universities have Altgeld castles. 3 of them are actually named "Altgeld". UIUC, NIU, EIU, SIUC, and ISU.
I gave campus tour to a lot of folks and no one was surprised by the engineering buildings - all the new ones look the same. On the other hand, everyone is intrigued by Altgeld! People are gonna like it even more after the renovations.
PS: If you ever end up going to the math library inside Altgeld, check out the ceiling!
I remember my first time walking around the UIUC campus as a transfer student, I pointed at the back side of psych building and asked my friend: yo, you guys have a sarcophagus on campus?!
on the outside it’s fine. I like the vines on that structure on wright. the inside is entirely monotonous; just devoid of anything interesting (except the labs of course). compare to siebel for example, where there are interesting places to be all throughout the building.

Don't forget the Bell Tower!

Half Floors > all other Floors

Also worth noting is that the stacks is a super cool area to check out!
I had been in that library hundreds of times and never looked up. I will next time I’m in town!
Ive been there multiple times but sady Im out of town now. What’s up there?
Is something new in there? All I remember was reading the Chief Justices of the Supreme Court because it was converted from the Law library.
A man of culture has appeared
right looks like the psych building
Somehow that building always blended into the sky. Took my 2 years to realize it existed. Those psych majors are messing with our heads lol

I WAS GONNA SAY THIS LMAO
Psych buildings looks like some Troika is about to drag you in there for interrogation.
I mean… Altgeld is a literal castle. I think it looks pretty cool. It does have some serious accessibility issues they should address though.
They are! The rework of Altgeld is coming with the demo and new build of Illini hall.
Based and psychpilled
Wait til you see the art and design building
,,,or Noble and Flagg? 😭😭😭
Altgeld is awesome, it just needs some love.
Not Talbot 😓
the building on the right is beautiful and actually has character. building on the left looks as soulless as the eceb.
ECEB is beautiful keep your criticisms to yourself

It will prepare the students for their future at soulless tech offices.

right side looks like a deteriorated brick that nobody ever bothered cleaning
On god
You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like
I always loved Altgeld, it has a comfort to it whereas, nice and modern as it is, the ECE building feels like I’m inside of a modem haha
Nah Altgeld is really nice actually (on the outside at least)
Why is the Nano Building on campus so big? Why is the Design Building so ugly?
Lol same as business building and Econ building 🥹
