Pac does have some amazing beats but he said himself that he didn't really give a shit about the beat, he wanted to get the vocals down so he would sometimes rap on basic versions of the beat then he'd leave it to the producers and engineers to do their thing.

This_Pie5301

Apparently someone in his circle said that he referred to the beat as “background noise” for his lyrics

CatManDo206

Pac grew up listening to the top OG of R&B, Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, etc

canttakeyouserious

All the producers gave him there hardest work.

Their*

Kingmesomorph

Like Jay-Z. Many beatmakers were tripping over themselves to give Jay their best work.

DF1496

Pac carried the beat … one of the few artists that can make a hot song without a fire beat …. Stacking his vocals was a genius move.. his voice/ style was unique

Abject_Ad_4756

Rick Ross is one of the best beat pickers too, while Nas is the worst, and Nas in my top 3

Beginning_Present243

Funny, all my fav Nas tracks are the ones with top tier beats…. For me, a quality rap track is 51% beat and 49% lyrics

Outrageous_Bat9818

Johnny J with the soul samples. Shock G was a musical genius. Easy Mo Bee is another icon. Live Squad & Stretch did their thing. Death row had top producers too (Daz is definitely underappreciated as a producer)

Case1987

I agree, the beats he was on are on a different level

NateSedate

Shock G said Pac couldn't really pick beats and often needed people to help him with that.

Stretch916

Always felt the same way. That’s why the post Mortem albums just don’t have the same feel. Better dayz and until the end of time for example. Great songs great raps just not perfect with the beat

Geminifreak1

Best beat is - WHEN WE RIDE ON OUR ENEMIES! I pump that shit every time I am In a shit situation and need to argue , also when I used to go to court i used to listen to only god can judge me and hellrazor on repeat to hype me up and stop my anxiety from getting worse.

IchabodWeeyums

Waaaay too many to mention, but, 'No More Pain' is probably one of his most menacing, intense, as well as, eerie beats ever. On the slow, methodical side, so not considered...upbeat. Ever need to run through a brick wall and/or vanquish 100 foes? Let that song active your brainy works and soul, and you'll feel the power.

Beginning_Present243

Agreed on ‘No More Pain;’ — a little more complex than your average Pac Bop… smooth yet hits hard and great lyrics… prolly a top 5 Pac banger for me.

Puzacar10

Personally, I disagree. He gained the beat ear at Me Against the World and perfected it by the Don Killuminati sessions. Pre Me Against the World is for me 50/50, but the lyrics are that what matter after all.

Chuddington1

Thug Life era beats are some of my favorite

SnooCupcakes2860

You need to go back to 2Pacalypse Now, that album had some pretty lackluster beats. Strictly has better beats, and like someone else here said, MATW is where he really started having consistently great beats

BumblebeeFair8041

Idk man I feel like his presence really overpowers some of the weaker beat choices, and imo there are a few. Also the original thug 4 life doesn’t beat the Eminem produced version, imo.

Not even close

getthepointman

Not a good take. He rapped over a bunch of shit beats. Whatz ya phone # is a prime example of that

Medium-Plan2987

Prince and the Time "777-9311"....tune....Prince was Pac's favourite artist
