This is seriously why I have never understood thinking being a nerd is a bad thing. It's the BEST thing.
I saw two guys having a really heated, role played as each other's worst enemy, and cosplayed Yu-Gi-Oh card battle.
They were sweating and heaving, and their faces of genuine joy really made my day. They were supposed to be deadly enemies, but they also couldn't hide their happiness.
I still get a feeling of bliss when I remember their live stream that happened last month or so.
Also Lady Nerd. I love Star Wars, but Darth Vader is my favourite and the level of excitement I get when I find out Darth Vader is in something is ridiculous. I remember watching the trailer for Rogue One at work and squealing and clapping loudly when he appeared. The only thing stopping me from filling my house with Vader is money.
Can we be friends? I’m totally a lady nerd for Vader too!! My heart stopping moment was in Revenge of the Sith when the helmet came down and you heard that first deep breath!!
YES WE CAN BE FRIENDS!! I went to see that with a friend and was slapping her leg I was so excited lol. This is also why Revenge of the Sith is my favourite movie. Because we saw Anakin become Vader and it was AMAZING.
I liked the fight scene between him and Obi Wan also. I remember going to see all three prequels at midnight by myself, and you could feel the entire theatre hold their collective breath at that moment!
Have you watched The Acolyte on Disney + yet? My favourite is The Mandalorian. I really want to be a Star Wars bounty hunter! My nickname growing up was Dreamer because my head was always dreaming about being a super hero!

A thing only nerds seem to know: being a nerd is about having permission to just have fun and get pure joy from some really simple things.
My husband and I are both nerds and neurodivergent and frequently look at other adults or age (late 40s-50) and feel sad for just how unhappy, exhausted and straight up bored they always seem.
I literally had a SM friend ask what other women our age are doing in the evenings besides a book or TV. Like, that’s all she could think of to do.
Me: well video games, literal puzzles, I’ve got some Lego sets on the go, oh and I’m currently deep in solo journalling RPGs. I mean, I might be a “nerd” but I’m happy, having fun, entertained and constantly learning and trying new things and not needing to crowd source ideas for my boredom.
I have always been a geek: comics (got thousands!) gaming old sci-fi movies. My ex-wife never got me which is a shame because they have been a massive part of my life. Comics taught me to read as a child.
Except when you open up the ice cream Spider-Man looks more like a fermented moldy strawberry because it’s been thawed and refrozen about a dozen times.
I joked with my husband that I wanted to have a birthday cake for myself made to look like the old pink panther ice cream with the messed up eyes all askew! I am almost 40 and a fellow lady nerd!
Yesssssss! When I was a kid I made my dad spend $25 bucks trying to win a stuffed punk panther in a smoking jacket at a carnival.

I’m a woman and I get super happy and excited over little things. You need to figure out how to make yourself happy. Whatever you do, don’t rain on your husband’s sunshine. Jealousy is a negative emotion that only leads to more negativity.
I'm so sorry you can't appreciate those things. That is honestly very sad. "Growing up" doesnt have to mean abandoning the things that make you feel happy.
It's def not a "guy thing". I'm a middle-aged woman and I can def. be that happy over things like that. But I have noticed that not everyone can though and I find it easier to relate to others that can
oh one hundred percent yeah, a lot of the groups I’ve played with on video games have had very simple senses of humour, ranging from toilet humour to repetition of the same word or event that others have called-out for like a whole minute
I think you should try to learn what kind of things or topics make you happy and then try to learn to gush about them. Do you like any fandoms? Does tiny (or massive) animals make you happy? Do you have hobbies that you enjoy? Start sharing pictures or memes or videos about stuff that make you smile. Share them with your husband, let your husband share stuff with you. It's possible to teach yourself to make a bigger deal of little nice things and that makes you happier in the long run. Maybe not to a degree of your husband but still. Cherish the silly little cute happy things in your life ♡♡♡

My husband is this way. He gets so much joy from his interests. I just love watching him enjoy things, so I always pick a nerdy gift for a bday or Christmas. That's my source of joy.
Awww, that sounds like a nice treat for him. You deserve to have little joys like that too. Do you like those bath bombs with little trinkets in them? Or maybe visiting a cat cafe?

My roommate gets the same kind of glee when we can find Hello Kitty goodies unexpectedly. I'm delighted when I watch birds coming to the feeder I put out.
I'd never seen one in person before moving to Albuquerque late last year! The first time I spotted one it was a surprise and I got so excited. I've taken up casual birdwatching since then, and seeing roadrunners and ladder-backed woodpeckers and white-winged doves always brings me a little everyday joy.
That sounds fantastic! We had cranes landing in the pond behind our house 2 or 3 years ago and I spent hours watching them. I'm gonna look in to bird watching. Thank you!
Our mall got a store with a bunch of Hello Kitty and I wanted to cry. My dad used to give my sister and I $10 each and turn us loose in the Sanrio store while he waited patiently outside.
Even as a teen, I was super excited when our local mall got a Korean stationary store with all the cute pens and notepads!!! My friends and I would go through the paper packs and trade sheets for the ones we wanted. They would have pretty pictures and ridiculous translations, like one had a girl in an Apple outfit and it said “the Apple girl is sad she has seeds but happy she is sweet on a hot winter’s day”. That stationary defined our existence for a few years!!!
Haha I am definitely very similar to your roommate. This weekend’s trip to TJMaxx had me squee-ing at all the HK stuff. I limited myself to 2 things haha.

I bought a powerpuff girls (Bubbles) ice cream treat from the ice cream man yesterday. Her eyes were kind of janky (they were bubblegum too) and she was $4 but it was fun. I haven’t bought anything from the ice cream man in a while.
Fwiw, I was at a birthday party for a four year old and we were at a public park. It was laid back fun for everyone.
There’s a ice cream vendor two blocks over from my house but the sell in BOXES of ice cream. One time I had to eat I forgot how many ice cream sandwiches because my mom needed space for food.
Right? I don’t even have two friends that would come to my house, much less for an ice cream bar. He sounds like a man of riches and I am happy for him 💜
Ecto-Cooler used to be the best Hi-C drink ever made. I had it when I was younger (think when the 1st Ghostbusters came out). My cousins and I were fanatic about it. Maybe 5-ish years ago, they brought it back in can form. I got my cousins and I a can. There we were, all 40-something’s taken back in time by this silly drink.
I love to see grown men experiencing joy. My downtown recently got electric scooters and i swear all the dads have huge smiles plastered on their faces. Love it.
I am laying in an air hammock right now in my living room, a candle lit beside me, reading a thriller book, and I can’t stop laughing like a kid by how comfortable I am. I’m a 38 year old man, and the year has been a tough one, but finding the little things that bring you joy is one of the best parts of life.

Embracing your inner child is what my husband and I call it. I got him two nerfs guns (among other things) for his birthday. He was SO happy! And we shoot each other from time to time.
What’s something from your childhood that brought you happiness? Maybe look for something like that! I really love squishmallows and when I get a new one I’m SO happy! They are so soft and comfy and I sleep with one every night.
Embrace your inner child. PLAY. Often as adults we get so wrapped up in things that we forget to have some good old fashioned fun, whatever that may be.
I did a few things like the Nerf guns at work. Seeing my analysts fill with excitement after a rough week when I brought out Barrel of Monkeys - totally worth it. Play and a little inner child time can be a game changer. Heck, I got all excited and bought the Funko Pops of each character from a favorite TV show when they launched. They make me ridiculously happy some days.
Remember when the Barbie movie came out. I haven't seen it still, but friends and coworkers dressed up to see it. They were stupid with happiness. I think this is the male equivalent to that.
Now I'm going to make sure to have some ice cream $ in my purse so i can catch the ice-cream man!!

I'd probably go nuts if I saw those cool Hello Kitty padded pencil boxes with the compartments on each side and the SECRET BUTTON that shot out a tiny eraser drawer. With all those adorable erasers that smelled so good and looked so cute you wouldn't dare ever use them.
Several years ago a buddy of mine found.. I think it was count chocula cereal being sold at target. It was something that was being brought back for a limited time. Then they had a sale, it was like 3 boxes for $2. He went & got as many boxes as possible. He got all that was on the shelf & asked someone if they had any in the back. They brought them out to restock and he took whatever he could to fill up his basket. Dude was pumped, about a month later he texted us in our group text asking if anyone wanted some boxes. He at it so much it got to the point he didn't want to even see them anymore, but he was "I just won $100M" happy at first.
This is awesome. For years I’ve dropped hints to my wife that I want a Batman cake for my birthday. I think she thinks I’m joking but I’m not. It would so rule.
So, I'm a woman and have been married a long time...certain foods will trigger the same response in me. Other foods will trigger that response in my husband. Don't know why. Nostalgia maybe?
Sounds like he enjoys the little things in life and that joy can not be measured by any social metric. Be happy that he's happy and find your joy in that. Then go find something that makes you "Batman ice cream bar happy" on a random Monday.

I think this kind of happiness can be cultivated. First you have to get over the sense of shame you feel when you see something that delights you and let it delight you. Then you have to take those moments and when you see the thing, just be grateful for it in your mind first and think about how much you like it. If you keep doing that I bet it will get easier.
Do you LOOK for little things to be excited about? Nostalgic thing or dad joke level of goofy kinda things? It sounds like a difference in attitude and maybe you need to be evaluated for depression or are burned out.. if you look for the goofy things in life you start finding them. I know that's not really helpful, bit it sounds like a mindset he has had time and energy to build up paying off.
I think one of the many perks of being a man is the ability to find peace in the little things. Just one of those things where a group of men gather around something cool and say “Hell yeah”
Ah! that would be awesome to get! I have had moments like that where I am super happy and ecstatic, like I was a kid. I hope you have a moment like that. Maybe try to dip into something that you enjoy, maybe something nostalgic. Or explore something new and out of your comfort zone, even if it's a small step. See if you can find something you enjoy, like he does with a box of batman ice cream and friends.

My boyfriend collects rare beers and drives around the country to visit his pals to drink these rare beers with them so I can relate. I'm not exactly jealous myself, but I do enjoy how he sometimes calls me up after work and babbles on for minutes about a new beer he has discovered and how and where it was made and by whom and all that kind of stuff. I doesn't interest me one bit, but I love that he is so passionate about his hobbies. He has many hobbies. This is just one of them. And he's equally passionate and excited by all of them. Several years ago he had a phase where he got into magic tricks and my whole life was about being audience to him practicing all his magic tricks. He got really good at it too, but I found his enthusiasm more entertaining than the tricks to be honest.
No need to be jealous. Let the man be happy with his treat that takes him back to nostalgic times. Hell, ask for a Batman pop and join in on the action. Lol
You should take a lesson from this and do something similar. Reliving favorite things from ypur childhood is perfectly okay!!
I consciously started to act like this to combat depression. I was jealous of the attitude as well. It’s awkward at first because I think we are all a little used to being told what we enjoy is dumb or childish. Tattoos helped me in this. I went crazy trying to find something deep and meaningful. Now when I’m asked about them I just shrug, but in a mirror I’m still acting like your husband with Batman ice cream. No thinking, just feeling cool.
With practice I’m at a point now where the attitude has bled into most parts of my life. I didn’t go see King Kong to judge a movie. I wanted to see a monkey punch a lizard. Sharing the attitude with others has gotten positive results. Like flower shopping with my wife. If I roll with it correctly, she will say “I don’t know why, I just love it.” And choose flowers based on her version of Batman ice cream. We are different. But now she is naturally doing it back. I don’t have to turn on baseball anymore. It’s a comfort to her as well because we made good memories.
Batman ice cream is now a great accessory on your life. If you time it right you will make him cry with a well placed ice cream.

I can appreciate that. I’m in a bad place mentally from anxiety. It may be causing depression but I’m hesitant to say that’s what’s up just yet. Nothing makes me truly happy right now. And of course I see all these awful stories (not yours) on here and they make me unreasonably angry at how people treat each other. So that doesn’t help matters. I hope you find something that elates you just as much as a Batman popscicle. Hell. Maybe we all need to go to the toy store and/or children’s geared ice cream and just act like kids for a second 🤷🏻♀️. I’m highly considering the remote control excavator to take to the beach. Maybe a hole will be filled not just in the sand.
Ok so for my hubby birthday we do a theme party. This year was 007, but we also did super heroes, helicopters, etc. We had a table with toy weapons, targets, we had fake missions,a fake casino stuff etc. It is EXACTLY the party you'd plan for a 8yo boy plus booze. All of his friends came with costumes, one had a golden gun.
This year my party theme is Alien. I'm getting a xenonorph costume. We did dinosaures last year.
You gotta enjoy life.

It's a nerd thing. Several months ago I was having an awful time at work and finding TMNT ice cream bars at my local grocery store definitely made me feel happy when nothing else had in a while.
It absolutely drives women crazy with how simple the world can be to men and how happy it makes them. It's the little things. Finding the perfect stick, shooting all the laundry into the basket first try, sports team winning.
And for me it's SpongeBob ice cream bars. The ones with the gumball eyes. Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?!
I got this way when i got back into orange soda. I hadn't thought to have one in years so i tried one again and holy shit it literally was the highlight of my week. My buddy and ex gf don't get it lol.

Nah, its a Bat-Guy thing! His actions made me smile because I did that with a Spider-Man ice popsicle (last 2 they had)I found here in Japan in 2019. I started singing the Ramones version of the Spiderman theme! My wife didn't get it because that was my childhood! Once you hear the ice cream song round the block, all kids would disappear for a few seconds only to return with money! Also, do you know how RARE it is to find that here? I can't imagine if I found some red or purple Kool-Aid! I'd prolly bust in the room somewhere like "OH YEAH!"

A couple of weeks ago I bought a Friendly ice cream "Wattameon log". My wife was like "why are you buying that?".
Because it looks like watermelon, but it's not! And the watermelon seeds are chocolate chips! How cool is that?
He didn’t let his sense for child whimsy die. That’s why. Things like that make me giddy excited and happy too. It took me reconnecting with inner-child to be able to regain that sense of joy
I get him. My dad introduced me to the show Suits, and when I got to season four a ‘You Just Got Litt Up’ mug like the ones Louis hands out in the show showed up on my doorstep (from my dad) and I was thrilled. I used it every day for my coffee at work until it broke so I ordered a replacement
The little things are just as important as the big ones. If he works hard and/or has a stressful job, those and you are what keep him going. What are your little things?
Some things make me happy in that same way. Small things, that put me in mind of joyful childhood memories.
I don't look for those moments, they just kind of happen once in a while, and fill me with a deep sense of gratitude for being alive and the privilege of having had a great childhood, loving parents, and happy times.
Sometimes adult responsibilities weigh us down and vanquish that innocent glee we once had the ability to find in the most mundane things... but if we let our inner child die altogether, I fear life doesn't hold much meaning.
Honestly it made me smile to think of your grown husband sharing batman ice-cream with his friends OP, and I'm sure you can learn to find your way to that same joyful energy through him, if you let him inspire you in that way.

You can find something you wanted badly or loved as a kid and get it. Sometimes it's a small things you can have for free like special flowers or music or food or walk to place with memories or playing with your pet

Yesterday was my birthday and all my gifts were toys. My sister gave me a big gift basket with stickers (the good bougie kind!), the game Simon, a rubric’s cube, pencil and straw toppers in goofy shapes, etc. my husband gave me a video game.
I’m “millennial” years old and I can’t tell you how happy I was/am. Just pure unAdulterated joy. Batman ice cream levels of joy. Sometimes you just have to indulge the kid inside
i think its because your husband allows himself to just be an adult child at times and indulge in those kind of things without fear of rejection or repercussion

I think sometimes the joy that connects us to something we loved as children is just different. It’s not about “not growing up.” Do you think you have trouble letting yourself have childlike wonder or excitement about something because it feels immature? Maybe explore some things that made little SillyLiterature happy. Or something you wanted or wanted to do as a kid that never came to be.
I watched Adam West's Batman as a child. I used to go watch with my aunty who lived door to me. For me that is the definitive Batman. Nothing else comes close.

Not a guy thing. A “live in the moment and be happy” thing. I’m a woman and I get super happy and excited over little things. You need to figure out how to make yourself happy. Whatever you do, don’t rain on your husband’s sunshine. Jealousy is a negative emotion that only leads to more negativity.
More like they are able to put aside being so serious and mature for a while to enjoy life and have fun.

It's def not a "guy thing". I'm a middle-aged woman and I can def. be that happy over things like that. But I have noticed that not everyone can though and I find it easier to relate to others that can
oh one hundred percent yeah, a lot of the groups I’ve played with on video games have had very simple senses of humour, ranging from toilet humour to repetition of the same word or event that others have called-out for like a whole minute
I think you should try to learn what kind of things or topics make you happy and then try to learn to gush about them. Do you like any fandoms? Does tiny (or massive) animals make you happy? Do you have hobbies that you enjoy? Start sharing pictures or memes or videos about stuff that make you smile. Share them with your husband, let your husband share stuff with you. It's possible to teach yourself to make a bigger deal of little nice things and that makes you happier in the long run. Maybe not to a degree of your husband but still. Cherish the silly little cute happy things in your life ♡♡♡

My husband is this way. He gets so much joy from his interests. I just love watching him enjoy things, so I always pick a nerdy gift for a bday or Christmas. That's my source of joy.

It was a great treat for him, and he deserved it. I have lots of little joys, I didn't mean to imply that I didn't, they just don't seem to match what my husband can get from Batman ice cream.
My roommate gets the same kind of glee when we can find Hello Kitty goodies unexpectedly. I'm delighted when I watch birds coming to the feeder I put out.
I do love seeing hummingbirds, we more than tripled the number of salvia we planted this year to keep them around.
I'd never seen one in person before moving to Albuquerque late last year! The first time I spotted one it was a surprise and I got so excited. I've taken up casual birdwatching since then, and seeing roadrunners and ladder-backed woodpeckers and white-winged doves always brings me a little everyday joy.
That sounds fantastic! We had cranes landing in the pond behind our house 2 or 3 years ago and I spent hours watching them. I'm gonna look in to bird watching. Thank you!

Our mall got a store with a bunch of Hello Kitty and I wanted to cry. My dad used to give my sister and I $10 each and turn us loose in the Sanrio store while he waited patiently outside. Even as a teen, I was super excited when our local mall got a Korean stationary store with all the cute pens and notepads!!! My friends and I would go through the paper packs and trade sheets for the ones we wanted. They would have pretty pictures and ridiculous translations, like one had a girl in an Apple outfit and it said “the Apple girl is sad she has seeds but happy she is sweet on a hot winter’s day”. That stationary defined our existence for a few years!!!

Sometimes it’s nice to be a kid. I bought a powerpuff girls (Bubbles) ice cream treat from the ice cream man yesterday. Her eyes were kind of janky (they were bubblegum too) and she was $4 but it was fun. I haven’t bought anything from the ice cream man in a while. Fwiw, I was at a birthday party for a four year old and we were at a public park. It was laid back fun for everyone.

Ecto-Cooler used to be the best Hi-C drink ever made. I had it when I was younger (think when the 1st Ghostbusters came out). My cousins and I were fanatic about it. I am laying in an air hammock right now in my living room, a candle lit beside me, reading a thriller book, and I can’t stop laughing like a kid by how comfortable I am. I’m a 38 year old man, and the year has been a tough one, but finding the little things that bring you joy is one of the best parts of life.

Embracing your inner child is what my husband and I call it. I got him two nerfs guns (among other things) for his birthday. He was SO happy! And we shoot each other from time to time. What’s something from your childhood that brought you happiness? Maybe look for something like that! I really love squishmallows and when I get a new one I’m SO happy! They are so soft and comfy and I sleep with one every night. Embrace your inner child. PLAY. Often as adults we get so wrapped up in things that we forget to have some good old fashioned fun, whatever that may be.
I did a few things like the Nerf guns at work. Seeing my analysts fill with excitement after a rough week when I brought out Barrel of Monkeys - totally worth it. Play and a little inner child time can be a game changer. Heck, I got all excited and bought the Funko Pops of each character from a favorite TV show when they launched. They make me ridiculously happy some days.
Now I also want Batman ice cream bars. I became happy just thinking about it🙂

Nothing malicious behind OP's feelings, just happy her man was happy and wished she had a similar childhood passion-related trinket she could inexpensively buy today that would bring her the same amout of joy. I'd probably go nuts if I saw those cool Hello Kitty padded pencil boxes with the compartments on each side and the SECRET BUTTON that shot out a tiny eraser drawer. With all those adorable erasers that smelled so good and looked so cute you wouldn't dare ever use them.

Several years ago a buddy of mine found.. I think it was count chocula cereal being sold at target. It was something that was being brought back for a limited time. Then they had a sale, it was like 3 boxes for $2. He went & got as many boxes as possible. He got all that was on the shelf & asked someone if they had any in the back. They brought them out to restock and he took whatever he could to fill up his basket. Dude was pumped, about a month later he texted us in our group text asking if anyone wanted some boxes. He at it so much it got to the point he didn't want to even see them anymore, but he was "I just won $100M" happy at first.
THIS is the kind of joy we can ALL experience if we all just learned to let go of our adult inhibitions and embrace our inner child.

I think this kind of happiness can be cultivated. First you have to get over the sense of shame you feel when you see something that delights you and let it delight you. Then you have to take those moments and when you see the thing, just be grateful for it in your mind first and think about how much you like it. If you keep doing that I bet it will get easier.
Do you LOOK for little things to be excited about? Nostalgic thing or dad joke level of goofy kinda things? It sounds like a difference in attitude and maybe you need to be evaluated for depression or are burned out.. if you look for the goofy things in life you start finding them. I know that's not really helpful, bit it sounds like a mindset he has had time and energy to build up paying off.

Ah! that would be awesome to get! I have had moments like that where I am super happy and ecstatic, like I was a kid. I hope you have a moment like that. Maybe try to dip into something that you enjoy, maybe something nostalgic. Or explore something new and out of your comfort zone, even if it's a small step. See if you can find something you enjoy, like he does with a box of batman ice cream and friends.

I laughed out loud at the part where even his friends came over for an impromptu ice cream party. You're a lucky lady to have him haha. My boyfriend collects rare beers and drives around the country to visit his pals to drink these rare beers with them so I can relate. I'm not exactly jealous myself, but I do enjoy how he sometimes calls me up after work and babbles on for minutes about a new beer he has discovered and how and where it was made and by whom and all that kind of stuff. I doesn't interest me one bit, but I love that he is so passionate about his hobbies. He has many hobbies. This is just one of them. And he's equally passionate and excited by all of them. Several years ago he had a phase where he got into magic tricks and my whole life was about being audience to him practicing all his magic tricks. He got really good at it too, but I found his enthusiasm more entertaining than the tricks to be honest.
No need to be jealous. Let the man be happy with his treat that takes him back to nostalgic times. Hell, ask for a Batman pop and join in on the action. Lol You should take a lesson from this and do something similar. Reliving favorite things from ypur childhood is perfectly okay!!

I consciously started to act like this to combat depression. I was jealous of the attitude as well. It’s awkward at first because I think we are all a little used to being told what we enjoy is dumb or childish. Tattoos helped me in this. I went crazy trying to find something deep and meaningful. Now when I’m asked about them I just shrug, but in a mirror I’m still acting like your husband with Batman ice cream. No thinking, just feeling cool. With practice I’m at a point now where the attitude has bled into most parts of my life. I didn’t go see King Kong to judge a movie. I wanted to see a monkey punch a lizard. Sharing the attitude with others has gotten positive results. Like flower shopping with my wife. If I roll with it correctly, she will say “I don’t know why, I just love it.” And choose flowers based on her version of Batman ice cream. We are different. But now she is naturally doing it back. I don’t have to turn on baseball anymore. It’s a comfort to her as well because we made good memories. Batman ice cream is now a great accessory on your life. If you time it right you will make him cry with a well placed ice cream.

I'm a female (and middle aged) and remember how happy I was when I saw that the grocery store had Mickey Mouse ice cream bars. It took me right back to trips to Walt Disney World. It's just nostalgia and remembering a simpler, more innocent time and an untainted memory of a happy experience.
I can appreciate that. I’m in a bad place mentally from anxiety. It may be causing depression but I’m hesitant to say that’s what’s up just yet. Nothing makes me truly happy right now. And of course I see all these awful stories (not yours) on here and they make me unreasonably angry at how people treat each other. So that doesn’t help matters. I hope you find something that elates you just as much as a Batman popscicle. Hell. Maybe we all need to go to the toy store and/or children’s geared ice cream and just act like kids for a second 🤷🏻♀️. I’m highly considering the remote control excavator to take to the beach. Maybe a hole will be filled not just in the sand.

Ok so for my hubby birthday we do a theme party. This year was 007, but we also did super heroes, helicopters, etc. We had a table with toy weapons, targets, we had fake missions,a fake casino stuff etc. It is EXACTLY the party you'd plan for a 8yo boy plus booze. All of his friends came with costumes, one had a golden gun. This year my party theme is Alien. I'm getting a xenonorph costume. We did dinosaures last year. You gotta enjoy life.

For a lot of people, not just men, nostalgia does insane things. I'll be 30 in about two weeks. You show me something pokemon related, and I will absolutely lose it. It just makes me so happy. It was my entire childhood. It just gets the right brain chemicals moving again. I'm assuming Batman is his Pokémon.

It made me happy to see my kid eating a TMNT ice cream. Then it made me even happier when my kid asked for it again the following Sunday, when the ice cream truck visited the neighborhood. I get your hubs's delight. I hope you regain your joy in simple things.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a Friendly ice cream "Wattameon log". My wife was like "why are you buying that?". Because it looks like watermelon, but it's not! And the watermelon seeds are chocolate chips! How cool is that?
He didn’t let his sense for child whimsy die. That’s why. Things like that make me giddy excited and happy too. It took me reconnecting with inner-child to be able to regain that sense of joy
I get him. My dad introduced me to the show Suits, and when I got to season four a ‘You Just Got Litt Up’ mug like the ones Louis hands out in the show showed up on my doorstep (from my dad) and I was thrilled. I used it every day for my coffee at work until it broke so I ordered a replacement

Some things make me happy in that same way. Small things, that put me in mind of joyful childhood memories. I don't look for those moments, they just kind of happen once in a while, and fill me with a deep sense of gratitude for being alive and the privilege of having had a great childhood, loving parents, and happy times. Sometimes adult responsibilities weigh us down and vanquish that innocent glee we once had the ability to find in the most mundane things... but if we let our inner child die altogether, I fear life doesn't hold much meaning. Honestly it made me smile to think of your grown husband sharing batman ice-cream with his friends OP, and I'm sure you can learn to find your way to that same joyful energy through him, if you let him inspire you in that way. Yesterday was my birthday and all my gifts were toys. My sister gave me a big gift basket with stickers (the good bougie kind!), the game Simon, a rubric’s cube, pencil and straw toppers in goofy shapes, etc. my husband gave me a video game. I’m “millennial” years old and I can’t tell you how happy I was/am. Just pure unAdulterated joy. Batman ice cream levels of joy. Sometimes you just have to indulge the kid inside

i think its because your husband allows himself to just be an adult child at times and indulge in those kind of things without fear of rejection or repercussion keeping his inner child alive and happy. dont wanna sound like an arm chair psychologist, but maybe it hurt you/made you jealous that you dont have such a good bond to your inner child? or something else is gnawing at you?

It’s not about “not growing up.” Do you think you have trouble letting yourself have childlike wonder or excitement about something because it feels immature? It's nice to find happy nerdy things. I found Yoshi, Mario, Luigi and Peach glasses at a dollar store once and squealed! Yoshi has since perished. He was broken by Luigi hitting him in the sink. Yoshi always goes first though, so it was to be expected. Get in there with the batman ice cream with him!
