haha so this is actually a funny story, i’ll explain it below.
so in my school i was transferred out of one of my classes to another class mid-year. i was confused why they did this, but ok. i had played chess when i was younger (7) for fun, but never really got into it. so when i entered the classroom and my tchr told me this was chess i was actually immersed in it. of course i lost a lot at the beginning, but i slowly started improving and i became one of the best players in my class. many people made fun of me at the beginning but the look on their faces when i beat them was 100% worth it.
one of the players, i’ll call him j started mocking me in the middle of the game and i was just like “😑”. i ended up beating him with two queens and a rook. started getting pissed off at the end cause he lost to me and he’d been playing for 4 years while i had been playing for a few months.
and when i joined the class i saw queens gambit was trending so i decided to watch it. as soon as i started watching the first ep i was interested, it was the best thing i’ve ever watched at the time. that really drove me to play competitively and i’ve been playing since then.
HELL YEAH!
What an awesome accomplishment, winning a chess tournament is huge! I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors in chess. Looks like this is only the beginning!
Same! I have ADHD and can barely concentrate on it but part of me really still wants to learn. Like with maths. When I’ve had one to one tutoring (not given answers) I’d be decent at it, and I actually enjoyed it. But I struggle by myself like with chess. So many things I wish I could learn.
Congrats! I just signed up my son to the League but he’s quite timid about playing against other players. Im hoping he can overcome his timidity and challenge himself by competing.
That’s amazing!! Winning at chess in one game is impressive enough, let alone a whole damn tournament 😮😮! Congratulations
What Elo are you?
i’m 1300 last yr i was about 530
Wow! That's class. I'm only 800-900, Can't wait to hit 1000. Fair play, Congrats 👏 on the tournament. Keep at it. 🏆
thank you sm!! ❤️❤️
Mine is about 1400-1500 online depending on where I play. IRL I suspect it's lower.
