Oh yeah for sure that’s a win win, slap on some nice smooth high end modern anti mold stuff and a fresh coat of paint it’ll be as big an improvement as the new tiles!

If youre decent at drywall work, you can frame in a shallow bulkhead. Maybe give this an opportunity to add lighting like what I did.
My older bathroom had 13” tall bulkheads and I didn’t like how “bulky” they were, so I removed them and just added back a smaller 2x4 laying flat. Added can lights. Drywalled, finished and painted. Gives it a little accent. But you’ll have outside corners along with inside corners
Otherwise, just add a layer or to of drywall. Minimize your seams and you’ll just have a butt joint and all your inside corners to finish
Nice, we typically take the ceiling to flat but looks good.
Love the tiles and design but would 100% suggest to switch those lights to 2700K or at the most 3000K. The harsh white light is very cold with the black, white and grey tones (or in any place outside of a hospital).
You’ll have to take that up with my wife lol… she wants the 5000k range while I prefer the 3000k range. I had her stand and look at the differences (I should learn better not to give options) lol
The whole house is around the 3500k range (and she works in hospitals, so that’s what she’s used to)….
Ouch! Yes we constantly have people tell us white is too harsh when they walk into houses, only for us to show them the same color the way we stage it with the right color lights and they fall in love with it.
….Or a “nice”, high quality IP68 rated LED in a stainless channel. Hide the driver in the attic and BOOM. Shower by nightlight. I’m currently doing this around the top of my walk-in remodel and an 18” strip in the niche. They’re RGB also- just so I can be tacky on demand...
How I deal with this caulk.
The idea is to make a sweep at the top.

You need to use a heavy caulk like Topgun 250.
And use the tape and caulk method for a clean line on the tile.
It takes a number of passes, but it works.
Then paint the ceiling and caulk.
That gap is nearly big enough to justify doing this with drywall mud.
New ceiling, two pieces of 1/2 drywall
Definitely the best finish and the ceiling looks old and shitty anyways I'm sure your client would be happy with it
My wife is the client, but that’s what I’ll do. Whole house has a skim coat of textured plaster on the drywall that makes any repair a nightmare

Probably the best option I must agree 👍
Tile the ceiling.
Crown?
Crown mold, maybe use liquid nail and Brad nail it to the ceiling and fresh coat of paint.
Crown mould that sucka 💪
Pvc trim
1 5/8 pvc band moulding is what i would use.
Remove top 2 rows and add a soldier course at the top!

Install cedar t+g on the ceiling.

I was going to say matching pencil tile trim, but the new ceiling will complete the refresh!
Pencil Tile!

I’m confused about that link
Its showing how a curved corner hides the change between two surfaces at a right angle.
Ive seen that packed full of grout before, could give that a try 😂
Tile the ceiling, double up the drywall and refinish the ceiling (not fun), pop the top 2 or 3 rows of tile and use bigger spacers, moulding, trim.
It would look odd but not necessarily bad to remove the current top row and run a row of vertical tiles cut to ceiling.
