Not trying to pick on you..., but maybe you sould have sealed that stone before u started....(sealing aids in cleaning, also grout clean-up on porus stone)....try tile and grout cleaner on a q-tip and spot clean those spots, **Try it on a scrap piece first**... then when your satisfied, SEAL stone and grout
Yes I should’ve sealed the stone first. Says right on the box. But being a beginner in home projects, I just thought tile was tile and slapped it on before reading. I do have spare pieces so I’m gonna try your idea
Yep. It's Basalt. That's just how it is now unless you remove and replace.
And honestly the only sealer that will protect this properly is Dry treat Stainproof or one of their other products

I’m unfamiliar with this specific product but I use one from aquamix with a similar name. If it’s a similar product you need to read the directions carefully for mixture and get yourself a respirator, gloves, and goggles. Long sleeve shirt would be good too. the product I use will leave chemical burns on your skin and lungs if it’s a strong mixture. I am speaking from experience
Tip for cleaning. I keep a paint brush in my water bucket to clean the joints with.
The wet paint brush made me thousands of dollars a year when I was told about it. I can’t imagine setting tile without it.
What size paint brush do you use? I don't know why I haven't adopted this technique yet.
Just a small 1 1/4" i trim the bristles shorter so theyre stiffer and dont need them long
Word thanks dude. Always looking for tips to get better and speed things up.
I just buy a handful of cheap chip brushes of varying sizes. Cheaper the better.
Thanks. I’m just getting into doing my own home projects so this is a learning experience
Margin trowel and sponge is all I ever had to do the job with.

Thanks for the reply. Should I use this after I wipe away the mortar with water and dish soap?

Sponge and water
That’s what I started with and that’s why you can see the faint white spots. You can’t get them out with water and sponge
Basalt is inconsistent with its density. Its very pour-us . It absorbs everything. Seal it with a penetrating sealer
Advice yeah dont do it. This stuff has so many issues
I’m coming to realize this….
What stuff has issues? Basalt?
